friend.
He didn't hear me and continued his walk, "don't worry about him, he's just a little hot tempered. He's walking off because he doesn't want to say something he doesn't mean," Nova reassured me, as she headed off too.
That dream, ugh. Why did I see someone as great as my godfather in such bad light? But it was just a dream, and if they can control my dreams then hats off to those motherfuckers. I shouldn't dwell on a dream. I got off the window sill and ran to next class, noticing I was late. I quietly sat down next to a girl who happened to be Clara, I smiled at her but she didn't even seem to notice my existence, she seems a little off.
"Hey kids," the bright teacher spoke. I looked around and noticed this was potions class, so the teacher was Clara's mother, Mrs Anderson.
"We'll be making a peace potion today, it works as a stress reliever," she smiled, getting out the ingredients, "Clara honey would you help me out here?" She asked, "no," everyone paused and looked towards Clara's sudden attitude. "Excuse you, what is that behaviour?" Her mother crossed her arms, "why thank you I'd love to excuse myself, goodnight." As she got up her chair scraped against the rough floors, making everyone cringe at the sound.
Goodnight? No, it was just a dream.
"I'll go after her," I awkwardly smiled at the poor woman who didn't understand her daughters behaviour.
"Clara wait up!" I ran out the class and found her heading to the top of the stairwell. I followed her up, to find her staring down at the view from behind the balcony. "You shouldn't speak to your mum like that, go and apologise to her after." I told her, "I don't have to, neither do I want to," she replied, with a straight face and cold tone. "What's wrong with you?" I asked, completely stunned at her change of attitude, as if she were a completely different person...
"You're not the Clara I met this morning are you..." I took a step back as she turned around, letting out a hysteric laugh. "C'mon Jewel, you're so suspicious for no reason," she said, in a tone that mocked me. I squinted while analysing her, her eyes, she was hypnotised.
"I'm suspicious for a very good reason," I said, feeling so guilty because I knew someone had done this to her because of me. "I'm gonna get someone to snap you out of this, wait here-" she grabbed my wrist and stopped me. "Snap me out of what!?" She squeezed it so hard it had to have left a mark. "See, you aren't Clara," I pushed her hand away.
"Who am I then? Where else have you seen such a gorgeous person?" She flipped her hair cockily. "In the mirror," I smiled. She rolled her eyes, before quickly changing our stance positions. Now I was near the balcony and she had the advantage point. "Clara I don't wanna hurt you," I told her, "you can't, you're powerless, princess." She replied, cornering me at the balcony, "you realise this will end in serious injury right?" I warned her, making her chuckle.
"Yeah that's like the whole point," she said, holding a knife to my throat as I was pushing down to lean my back against the balcony fence, now I was the one laughing. "What," she raised an eyebrow. "I just find it funny that you think I was talking about me."
"Darling. You can't hurt me."
I kicked the back of her knee making her drop down into that 'will you marry me?' position. "I do," I dramatically put out my right hand in front of her face. She grabbed my wrist and twisted it, flipping my entire body to make it land flat. I reached for the knife that had dropped, and threw it over the balcony, I didn't want either of us getting hurt by that.
I got up and elbowed her in the face, knocking her out cold. "God I'm so sorry," I put her arm around my shoulder and helped her down the stairs. "My my is she ok?" Mrs Anderson stepped out the class and looked at her daughter in concern, making me look at her awkwardly.
"Yeah, she just uhm, a little... drunk?" I made up an excuse that would definitely get Clara in trouble after, but her mother didn't seem surprised. "Not the first she would've snuck into my wine cellar," she sighed, "oh wow, ok haha, I'll see you, uhm, next lesson." I excused myself and took her up to the heads office, I barged in without knocking.
"There's a problem." I spoke, dropping her down onto the floor since carrying someone my size all the way down a flight of stairs isn't the easiest thing in the world. "Dear god is she dead?" Professor Zeke slightly peeked over his desk.
"What, no, she's been hypnotised," I said, "by who oh my god." He asked, "just my neighbours dogs uncle- HOW AM I MEANT TO KNOW?" I yelled. He quickly looked through his cupboards to pull out a potion, "what so all you need is a potion to snap her out?" I asked, "it's much harder to make someone consume it when they're awake, the person who hypnotised her would've made her resist like a pain in the ass if she were conscious." He said, lifting up her head a bit to pour it into her mouth. "Why, is she unconscious by the way?" He asked.
"I elbowed her in the face." I responded awkwardly, before me and the headmaster both got a little heart attack from Clara jolting awake. "Wh- what happened?" She grabbed her head in pain before looking at me. "Jewel- Azriel- your highness... I'm so sorry, I didn't know what I was doing it just felt like, I was being..." she was at a loss for words, "controlled? It's ok, I know that wasn't the real you. It's good to have you back." I put my hand on her shoulder making her flinch.
"Clara I wouldn't-"
"I'm sorry, I've just uh, grown up hearing the stories about this monster we call a half blood. You're very different to what I pictured, you don't seem like a monster at all," she sighed. "I won't tell anyone, I promise," she got up, taking a deep breath as she walked out. "She's scared of me isn't she..." I spoke out to myself.
"Oh she's terrified," professor Zeke replied with 0 filter. "What," he shrugged as I headed out the door. "Azriel," he called out, "I'm proud of you for noticing she was hypnotised. It's not easy to look into someones eyes and be able to tell," he said, before closing the door.
I walked down to the hall since it was lunch time, and I was starving. I met Taehyung and awkwardly sat down in front of him with my platter of food. "Hey, could I, uhm, ask you a question?" I spoke out randomly, bouncing my right foot out of a weird anxiety. "Even if I say no you're going to ask away, so go on," he replied, taking a spoonful of food.
"I was thinking... you know, after finding out everything about me, I think I've thought of a better reason, as to why you might've come down to earth for me. But before I say, what I've thought of, I want to ask you, and hear your answer," I pursed my lips before continuing.
"What was the real reason, you tried so hard to read my thoughts? Because I know it's not just because I'm famous, or because I'm a princess or-"
"Because you're a half blood, it was because of the prophecy," he took a sip of his drink casually. "The prophecy stated that a half blood has the power to end the world, and that it would. I just wanted to read your thoughts, and hope that I didn't find any evil sort of plan scheming inside your mind," he told me. "So when you read my thoughts, and heard something so pathetic. Why did you come? All the way to earth," I questioned.
"Because I thought that after I heard your thoughts once, I could hear them again if I got closer to you. Listen Jackson, I have a family that I care for with all my heart. You cannot blame me for wanting to know if you'd kill them, kill me, kill everyone." He said, "wow," I got up and left the hall, completely stunned at his words.
"C'mon, you're mad at me?" He chased after me. "You taught me how to smile again! You taught me how to live again... you were the first friend I made in a year, and to know that you were only there, with your own sort of stupid prejudice against me because of some ancient prophecy. You really don't see anything wrong in what you did?" I tilted my head, breathing so heavily you'd think I was having a panic attack. I just felt so, annoyed.
"I was scared. Ok, scared. You're the monster underneath everyones bed, you're the monster in the fairytale books here. All I've heard is that when I see a half blood, I should run for my life. And yet I didn't, I was brave, and I went all the way down to earth, to see if you were evil and all I saw, was a broken little girl, who had no clue what she was. Which was I stayed, which was why I helped you feel again," he finished.
"No no, let me rephrase that, you helped because it was your cover, because you needed an excuse to stay with me, an excuse for coming out of absolutely nowhere. GOD I HATE YOU." I smacked his chest, making him angrily grab my wrists and pinned them against the wall.
"No Jewel, no Azriel, no YOUR HIGHNESS, you don't get to be pissed, I lied because I had to. You can't seriously be angry at me for doing what literally anyone else would do. I didn't hurt you did I?" He tilted his head.
"But now you are, and you wanted to didn't you. I bet every second you felt like strangling me, you wanted to get rid of the person who you thought would destroy the world. I don't blame you for that. I'm scared of me too. But it's the fact that you lied. I'm so sick... and tired... of the lies..." my eyes welled up, pitying myself.
"Hey guys-" Nova paused in her step seeing and sensing the tension between me and Taehyung. "Stay away from me," I yanked my wrists away from him as I walked away, lightly brushing past Nova as I ran to the dorm rooms.
"Ugh."
