Chapter - VI

It was night. Same moon smiling humbly in his abode, with his companion of dark night and many stars.

But this night was different, it had it's own fragile touch to Piya's skin, who wasn't able to catch or hold properly.

Her head was heavy, skin was burning and feet were jittery. Taking a dose of medicine, she laid on her bed under the soft warmth of comforter.

Her family was out at Khurana's Party, after lots of persuasion from her side, except for Misha who remained home to look after her younger sister. She was in her own room playing video games, with headphones covering her ears and loud music on, to even let her know anything what was yet to come. She had made sure, that Piya had taken her meds and was sleeping comfortably in her room. She would check up every hour, was her plan, and till then she will immerse herself in music and games. After many days, she had time for herself and she wasn't going to waste it by attending any lavish party.

There was fifteen minutes left before night to reach midnight.

Flashes were haunting Piya, in her deep slumber. It was hazy flashbacks of her past, that would change immediately as fast as, waves of ripples on the surface of once calm lake.

She was close to a speck, to decipher the face that bore icy blue eyes, which always seemed looking into her soul, when her phone ranged, loud in the peaceful weather of silver night.

Without opening her eyes, she reached the night stand to pick up her phone.

" Hello? ", without checking the caller id, she spoke while trying to keep her heavy voice natural.

" Piya? ", it was voice of male, which sounded quite hushed.

" Yes, who is speaking? ", now she checked the time on the wall clock, and the caller id. It spoke unknown.

" It's not necessary right now. You need to run. Your life is in danger. You need to run and go far away, as much you can. ", he was speaking so fast, and Piya tried to catch all as much she can.

Goosebumps graced her skin. Her feet were aching the minutes before, but now if anyone would ask her, she wasn't feeling the any pain below her knees, except them turning cold.

Was the stranger, messing with her? Was it some kind of prank?

She was alone in her room, and Misha's was two rooms away.

" What are you talking about? I swear, if this is some kind of joke, then I will lodge a complain against you mister? ", she warned him, keeping the worry out of her voice.

" For a woman high on drugs of fever and cold, it is easy to kill, by dizziness that follows for the remedy. What do you think you will be saved by an argument like this, if it is true?! ", he paused for a while, knowing that she was hanging on his words without interrupting, he continued, " Their is no harm for Misha, in this situation. It's only you Piya, who needs to be safe. The intruder won't harm your sister, he is there for your life. If you care for your own life, I am giving you an advice to run far away, as much you can. ", and with that he he hang up the call.

What I should do? Should I tell Misha?

" No!! I should not. ", Piya's whole body was paused from the apprehension.

She stood at the window sill trying to have some clarity in her thoughts, for the tornado she felt inside her gut. That's when she saw the shadows lurking in the garden of the Dobriyal house. With her legs shaking and the freeze in her upper body, she starts to wear black shrug and white sneakers despite of no survival plan running in her head, she bails out from the back door on the unplanned pathway where her feet could take her in the frenzy.

Her steps one after the other without a second of pause in between her two foot. Looking back for the unknown predators, she sees them; silhouette of four men following her few metres distance away. A shiver runs down her spine, and she runs again ignoring her ragged breathing rhythm.

Oh God! Where do I go?

Piya! Come to me. You know, where I am.

Her eyes widen in shock. Surely, she knew whom this voice belonged to, but her conscience wasn't allowing her to make any twisted sense out of it. She looks around herself. Their is no one in vicinity, whom she can find speaking to her. Then how can she hear the voice, was it the hallucination, brought out by her stressed brain.
Her thoughts were cut out by the howls, of the wolves, loud and clear growls following them.

Piya. Come to me.

The lightning and cool breeze, breaks out adding the more cutting anxiety in her treatise. And the night feels more dangerous and ruthless. Falling one her knees, she breaks out in sobs, feeling helpless and tired.

The winter had just begin, this days in Dehradun's cool climate by settling the mark of temperature less, but this night is different when she felt the drops of water, falling on her curls curtaining her face. She cursed, in irritation. If fever, breathlessness, and aching limbs were not less in the middle of the night, to make her blend in dirt tonight, was the rain, bleeding cold and lightning really necessary!

Piya!! Come to me.

This time the voice held more softness than before; whipping tear and rain soaked face with her wet and dirt lined jacket, she stood up and went into the forest, without following any path, imagining only the grave of the frozen ice.

The ground littered with dead seasonal leaves and twigs, making it more uneven in rain by it mushy texture, for her to foot straight. But, she walked looking forward in the unending darkness, mixed with flashes of lightning that made her able to point out the obstacles properly, in the pouring big drops of rain.

Her heart was beginning to come at ease, and her body didn't felt cold, as much it felt before. It was lowering its banging against her thorax beat by beat for her to hear, the downpour of nature in liquid.

Their was no hope in her heart, to hold on positive aspect. It was empty of all essences. The thing which filled like non-sensed blood as usual, was clarity of haze which didn't show any false mirage to clear off. Maybe she was accepting her end, this night or her body had accepted the inviting dark coldness of the night; wether it be in the hands of wolves, her predators or the cruel night, she didn't care now. She prayed for her family and friends, kicking the stony want to see them for the last time, her soul cried for.
Still, her eyes shed warm drops that mixed in the rain falling on her face, and she didn't whip it, knowing it's not necessary now. She had now accepted her end, if it has to be this painful or more she was ready for it. But, first she was going to meet him. Whoever it was, or not, under the frozen grave, who called her to come meet him. She wanted to know who it was, at last breathe she would take in. It was her unknown wish or maybe yearn that remained kindled from the first time she found the grave. The feeling weighted too much from the beginning, but she was still illiterate to the name of it.

Hearing the low growl, she halted in her journey. She looked aside to find hazel coloured eyes, of a big wolf, that howled the second later, her eyes connected with him.

She froze on the spot. Realising the deadly and intimidating aura the animal emitted, she hunched down where she stood few steps away from the wolf. Hearing the thrusts of her beating heart against her clavicle, over the rain, she looked him in the eye.

The howl was loud, call for his mates to gather around, she knew it when she saw other three emerging from the different directions. She looked at all of them. All looked different, still having one thing in common- the sense of predatory instincts. Circling her, while she stood in centre, they licked their canines.

Piya felt the gravity of her decision, of dieing today.

It would be so painful end. Looking at their sharp canines, she thought.

She moved back as they started to step forward.

The ground was wet, and bore the dead leaves and twigs, when her hand came in contact with thick long woody branch. Without thinking she made a stance to fight gathering her all confidence in her eyes and stance, and hit the near by wolf. With that deceit she ran, again to save herself from the painful death.

The adrenaline pumping in her veins made her forget all her previous complains.

She was running, and looked back at her predators, that were chasing after her, when her foot collided with the stone and she went forward in the air for her velocity aided in the launch, on the hard and cold ice, lying face down on her stomach.

Her head pained, due to collision and eyes went hazy. Looking back she saw wolves, coming in her direction, growling in anger. She lifted her hands up to support and stand up, and ice cracked from both the side of her waist and came out two hands grabbing her by waist, pulling her in the water.

More panic laced Piya's features, when she was dragged into the water, so cold in negatives. Wringing to free herself off from the unknown person, she tried much to reach the surface, to again breathe in the air.

She could not see properly, for her human eyes were too weak to hold the low temperature of the freezing water, to keep open. The heat was leaving her body, as her heart tried to pump so fast, but her body was setting off to shut down. She could not take anymore, as the stranger pulled her to himself, and her palm fall on his chest to keep her guard up to maintain the distance and her eyes closed at last.

She was in his arms. Fainted floating in the depth of water he lived in for few minutes, which was ice before.

Her presence was more intoxicating, than before. Even in the aqua her skin and her aura called for him, that's what Abhay felt most, the want. It was so strongest of all he had felt before, in his entire existence. He could see her clearly now, his soul at ease, for his eyes had been thirsty for long to capture her since he last contacted air. She had became more beautiful. Her eyes were surrounded by more lashes, cheeks showcased the curves of her bones in different way, lips full like freshly plucked rose and her luscious black curls in crowning her temple looked more inviting play with. He held his gaze and her body in his arms. His demon wanted to have her all, and his bright side promised to never let her go, for eternity.

The howls were loud, for the wolves stood beside the now liquid grave, on the ground. Waiting for her dead body to float up, to the surface. Their sharp canines ready to tear their prey apart.

Abhay's new added senses awoke, in the middle of his gazing session for Piya, and wolves felt their footing lost on the damp ground when they were thrown far away by an invisible, powerful electric shock.

Feeling the threat, minimised he came out, clutching Piya tight to his chest. Channelling minute amount of energy from himself to her, he saw her taking a long sigh of relief, unconscious still in his arms.

The wolves howled again. This time it wasn't for a call but, out of pain. A knowing smirk kissed Abhay's lips. Grasping Piya close, in a comfortable way, he started exiting the forest.
