I'll take care of you

There was a lot (Y/n) never knew about Daibazaal back when she lived in her own reality and that included the time of year when pollen was carried in the wind. At first she thought it would be like the pollen season back on Earth, unfortunately she was very wrong and apparently the type of pollen in the air gave her really bad allergies. It started when (Y/n) went outside one evening when she wanted to see the sunset, little did she know that she would be so allergic to the pollen. She felt just fine when she went to bed, but when she woke up the next morning she felt like shit. She could hardly breathe because of how runny her nose was, her eyes watered like crazy, her throat felt super dry and scratchy, and she felt as though she had really bad brain fog. She tried getting out of bed, she really did, but she felt so terrible that she just couldn't force herself to go eat breakfast with everyone else.

She hoped that someone would come check on her when they noticed she wasn't at the table, she also hoped that Haggar had something in the infirmary to help ease her symptoms. Meanwhile, Sendak looked forward to finding out what that day's activities were and he couldn't wait to see (Y/n). Zarkon, Kumo, Vrul and Lotor looked at Sendak when he eventually walked through the dining room door; (Y/n) hadn't come to breakfast yet and they assumed she would be with him, although Sendak came alone. Sendak assumed that (Y/n) would be waiting for him as usual, but he was disappointed when he didn't see her sitting amongst everyone at the table. He sat down in his usual place and the servants brought breakfast to the table, and yet the young human woman was nowhere to be seen; it was too soon for her period to come, so something else must have happened.

“Where's (Y/n)?” Lotor finally asked once everyone had food on their plates and juice in their cups.

“I haven't seen her since yesterday.” Kumo commented, worried about their friend who hadn't made an appearance yet.

“I'll go check on her.” Sendak offered before he got off of his seat so he could go check on (Y/n); everyone was worried about her and he needed to make sure she wasn't hurt or anything.

It was concerning whenever someone didn't show up to the table for breakfast; it didn't happen very often, but when it did everyone else worried about them. On his way to (Y/n's) room Sendak began to fear the worst because, unless she had her period, she never missed a meal. The walk to her bedroom felt as though it lasted forever, and when he arrived at his destination he made sure to knock because he didn't want a repeat from a few days prior when he accidentally barged in when (Y/n) had been changing. While (Y/n) laid in bed she felt sleepy, she knew that she would get better sooner if she got plenty of rest. Sendak took a deep breath before he knocked on her door, then he patiently waited for an answer; once he heard (Y/n) give him permission to enter her room he slowly opened the door and saw how sick she looked.

“You don't look well.” Sendak said quietly when he walked towards (Y/n's) bed, seeing exactly how sick she looked.

“I'm ick.” (Y/n) responded with a stuffy tone, her voice coming out raspy due to her sore throat.

“You don't sound very well. Stay right there, I'll bring breakfast to you.” Sendak told her before he left to go get a few things, once again closing the door to give her some privacy.

(Y/n) knew that she had allergies and that she wasn't contagious, although she still appreciated the privacy because she didn't want anyone else seeing her sick. She already hated pollen season on Earth, but she despised pollen season on Daibazaal. While she laid in bed, Sendak went to go make some instant soup for (Y/n) along with a cup of juice and he got a box of tissues for her, and he needed to get his own breakfast off of the table as well. The tissue box came first which came from one of the hallway closets, then he quickly made a bowl of instant soup in the kitchen; while the soup cooked Sendak grabbed the serving cart and filled a cup with some juice. Sendak went to the dining room next so that he could collect his own breakfast, he didn't want (Y/n) to have to eat alone because she was sick.

“Where are you going with all that? Is (Y/n) doing alright?” Zarkon asked Sendak with concern, watching as his favorite apprentice took his breakfast off of the table in favor of placing it on the cart.

“She's sick, I believe that she has allergies because of the pollen. I would like to request time off so I can take care of her.” Sendak humbly requested; he just really wanted to help (Y/n) recover as quickly as possible because he disliked seeing her so sick.

“Request granted. Take care of her.” Zarkon responded with a soft tone, knowing that (Y/n) would be in good hands.

Sendak thanked Zarkon before he began pushing the serving cart out of the dining room, bidding everyone a temporary farewell. He was glad that Zarkon was so understanding, if he wasn't then (Y/n) would have had to get better all on her own. If her allergies got worse then she would have to go into a healing pod, but if it wasn't necessary then it would be better for her immune system if she worked through it with Sendak's help. On his way to (Y/n's) room the soon-to-be warrior felt worried about her, she seemed so sick and he just wanted to help her feel better. After Sendak left her room, (Y/n) stayed in her bed because she felt terrible and her congestion gave her a headache. She sat up a little when she heard a knock on her door; knowing that it was Sendak; once again she granted him access to her bedroom.

“I brought a bowl of soup, a cup of juice and a box of tissues for you, and Zarkon gave me time off from my duties so I can take care of you.” Sendak spoke softly after he opened the door and entered her room, pushing the cart in front of him.

“Thank you.” (Y/n) wheezed as she thanked him for bringing her a few of the things she needed.

Sendak beamed at her as he walked closer to the bed, then he parked the serving cart next to the bed so he could give her the box of tissues. (Y/n) took the opportunity to blow her nose after she opened the tissue box; blowing her nose helped her feel a little better, but at the same time she felt awful. She dumped the used tissue into the trash can next to her bed, then she accepted the bowl of soup and the spoon from Sendak. Sendak pulled a chair over so that he could finish eating his breakfast, even though it was a little cold by that point. Honestly, he could care less that his previously hot breakfast had gotten cold, as long as the soup was still warm then he was alright.

(Y/n) thought the soup tasted really good and she wondered how she'd gone her whole time on Daibazaal without eating it, she actually looked forward to eating it more often while she was sick. With each spoonful of soup she ate, she gently blew on it since it was still too hot for her to eat without cooling it down a little. (Y/n) really appreciated that Sendak was willing to take time off from his duties just to take care of her, the kind gesture rendered her speechless. In reality, Sendak was simply trying to show his interest in her as subtly as possible, or at least for the time being. He eventually wanted to pursue a romantic relationship with her sometime in the future, he just needed to wait until the timing was right; unfortunately (Y/n) would be sick for the next week or so, but she would always be grateful that Sendak helped her get better.
