Are you jealous?
Ever since (Y/n) mysteriously arrived on Daibazaal she knew that all of her favorite alien characters from Voltron were alive and well, and she'd even gotten to briefly meet Trigel and Gyrgan, but there was one day in particular when everyone in the palace were going the extra mile to make everything look extra nice. Pollen season eventually ended on Daibazaal and (Y/n) got better from her allergies with Sendak's help along with some medicine from Haggar, once she got better life returned to normal for her and Sendak. While the servants were busy cleaning and decorating the palace, (Y/n) went to go look for Sendak so she could ask him what was going on. She couldn't find Zarkon or Vrul anywhere, Lotor wasn't anywhere to be found either and Sendak was the most difficult to find. After a while of searching (Y/n) gave up and went to go look for Kumo, she knew that she would know what was going on.
A very important visitor from another planet in their solar system would arrive soon; Blaytz, the king of Nalquod, was coming to visit Zarkon since things on Nalquod had been going well and he had time to visit his friend. Even though it was just a casual friendly visit, it was customary for the palace to look its best for any visiting royalty. Not only were Blaytz and Zarkon friends, but he was also friends with Sendak since Sendak was a young warrior and a lot of fun to be around. Everyone liked Blaytz because of how open and accepting he was, not to mention he had a sense of adventure and a great sense of humor. Eventually (Y/n) and Kumo crossed paths, then both of them stopped walking so they could talk to each other.
“What's going on today? Is someone coming to visit?” (Y/n) inquired with curiosity, hoping that Kumo would have the answer she was seeking.
“King Blaytz is coming for a casual visit, I was just on my way to see how things are going in the kitchen. He just arrived a few doboshes ago; Zarkon and Sendak are probably with him right now. Anyway, I'll catch up with you later.” Kumo answered with an excited smile before she told (Y/n) where Zarkon and Sendak were; she promptly excused herself because she was in a rush, but sometime later they would get to talk more.
(Y/n) bid Kumo farewell before she began heading towards the front entrance; she'd never met Blaytz before, but she really wanted to before he and Zarkon spent the rest of the day together. She picked up speed because she really wanted to meet the nalquodi king; she remembered seeing him in a few episodes of Voltron and he seemed really cool, (Y/n) wished that she'd taken more time to make herself more presentable. Sometimes she disliked how large the palace was simply because it felt as though it took forever to get to the front entrance, but it was worth it when she did because as soon as (Y/n) walked outside she saw Blaytz. Blaytz was very handsome in real life, although her stomach felt funny when she saw how close he stood next to Sendak. No one noticed her yet because their backs were turned, and when she heard Blaytz speak flirtatiously to Sendak she felt her stomach twist in jealousy and discomfort.
“You know, maybe later we can go do something fun toge-” Blaytz began to tell Sendak before he heard someone clear their throat behind him; he wasn't expecting to see a woman standing a few feet behind him and Sendak, but he didn't recognize her.
“There you are, (Y/n)! This is Blaytz; he's the King on Nalquod. Blaytz, this is my friend, (Y/n). She's from a planet called Earth in another reality.” Sendak greeted (Y/n) with a friendly tone, introducing her to Blaytz before he introduced Blaytz to her.
“It's nice to meet you, (Y/n).” Blaytz greeted the young woman with an equally friendly tone as he turned to face her while holding his right hand out, happy to finally meet her for the first time.
(Y/n) hesitantly stepped towards Blaytz so she could shake his hand; he was certainly friendly, but the way he acted around and flirted with Sendak made her feel jealous. She had a crush on Sendak and the thought of him having a thing with Blaytz made her heart ache with sadness, there was no way she could compete with such a handsome young king. If Sendak swung that way then she would still be friends with him, she could never hold it against him if he was gay or bi. After they let go of each other's hands, (Y/n) told Blaytz a little about herself so that she could at least be polite, the last thing she wanted to do was offend him since he was being so nice to her. Talking to Blaytz was still interesting, she liked hearing about what Nalquod was like after she asked him a few simple questions about his home out of curiosity.
Blaytz understood why Sendak liked (Y/n) so much; she was cute, petite and she seemed like a lot of fun, although he could tell that something was bothering her. When he first saw her he thought she was an altean with a few birth defects, but after she clarified that she was a human he wasn't as worried about her since she was normal for a human. After a few minutes of talking to Blaytz, (Y/n) politely excused herself; she needed to process the thoughts of him flirting with Sendak, but she didn't want to come off as rude since he'd been so nice to her. It surprised Sendak a little that (Y/n) didn't want to hang out with Blaytz longer, although with how rushed she seemed he assumed that she had to finish doing something. It wasn't long before Zarkon and Blaytz went out to the garden to hang out together, while they were catching up with each other Sendak decided to go sunbathe somewhere.
__________
For the rest of the day (Y/n) couldn't get her mind off of how openly Blaytz flirted with Sendak; they weren't a couple, were they? If they were then she concluded that Sendak would have introduced him as his boyfriend or something, or he would have been all shy and blushy if he had a crush on Blaytz. She basically just sat in her room for the rest of the afternoon, feeling depressed that Sendak might not be into women; she'd developed an intense crush on him and she wanted to be his significant other, although if he wasn't into women then she didn't have a chance with him. To see the man she'd come to love get flirted with by another man had broken her heart, it was then that (Y/n) decided to distance herself from Sendak. In order to distract herself, the human woman decided to read something on her holopad.
Earlier when (Y/n) went on about her day, Sendak felt a little conflicted that she left because he wanted to hang out with her and Blaytz at the same time for a little longer. He didn't miss the somewhat sad look on her face earlier and he wondered if she thought he liked Blaytz more than her; to be perfectly honest he liked them both equally, but he liked them in different ways. Blaytz left Daibazaal shortly before dinnertime so he could go back to Nalquod, so Sendak began heading towards the dining room so he wouldn't be late for the final meal of the day. (Y/n) knew what time it was and decided to go to dinner, but when she saw Sendak it was too late for her to retreat back to her bedroom. Seeing him made her heart ache, just seeing him made her feel more depressed than earlier.
“There you are; I was wondering where you've been.” Sendak spoke with a friendly tone when he walked over to (Y/n); he'd missed her, and seeing her again made him happy.
“I've just been around, doing stuff.” (Y/n) answered without much emotion, not bothering to look up at him.
“Why did you leave earlier?” Sendak inquired, wondering where she'd gone off to.
“I didn't want to interrupt you and Blaytz.” (Y/n) replied as she tried to not sound bitter when she spoke.
“Interrupt us? We were only catching up with each other. You could have stayed.” Sendak offered in confusion; he wasn't sure why she sounded so depressed, nor did he understand why she didn't want to hang out with him and Blaytz earlier.
(Y/n) didn't say anything, instead she walked next to him in silence; being around Sendak had always made her happy after her mysterious arrival on Daibazaal, she couldn't bear the thought of not being close with him. She wasn't sure how to respond without sounding jealous, she felt as though he would be disappointed if he knew she was jealous. Sendak eventually stopped walking and luckily so did (Y/n), he wanted to know what was bothering her and the dining room wasn't the place to have that discussion. They just stood there in the hallway, neither of them sure of what to say or who should speak first.
“It's just… B-Blaytz was flirting with you and I assumed that you were interested in him… A-and well…” (Y/n) spoke up after a few moments; it hurt for her to tell Sendak what was on her mind, although he deserved to know the truth.
“Flirting with- Blaytz flirts with everyone, it's just a part of who he is and how he interacts with those who he's close with. He already had a spouse, and I'm not romantically or sexually interested in him. Were you jealous?” Sendak responded with realization, questioning if she just so happened to be jealous when Blaytz was playfully flirting with him earlier.
“M-maybe a little… I'm sorry.” (Y/n) admitted shyly; she felt better knowing that Sendak wasn't interested in Blaytz, and she felt silly for being jealous earlier.
“It's alright, and it's understandable. Now that we have that cleared up, let's go eat dinner.” Sendak said as he smiled reassuringly at her before they started walking again; he didn't think much of her feeling jealous earlier, it was just something that occasionally happened while Blaytz was around.
(Y/n) was relieved that Sendak and Blaytz weren't dating or anything, it meant that she still had a chance to be his significant other in the future. Her heart no longer ached and the sick feeling in her stomach went away, although she kind of wished that she'd hung out with them earlier. However, there would be plenty of time in the future for (Y/n) to meet and possibly hang out with the people who would have been the first set of paladins if Voltron existed in that universe, but since it didn't they simply shared a warrior's bond with Zarkon. (Y/n) was beyond happy to interact with Sendak again, the thought of not being able to do so had made her heart ache with sadness, she was grateful that Sendak wasn't attracted to Blaytz. The rest of the evening went really well and (Y/n) learned a little more about Blaytz from Zarkon, next time he visited Daibazaal she would be sure to hang out with him.
