Chapter 13
~Danny's POV~
It's been, what I think is, two or three days since I've been taken.
I'm still not healed enough to attempt to escape. Don't get me wrong, I do want to get out of here, but the 'food' the people here give us, if they give us any, holds little to no nutritional value. This means no matter how much I eat of it, even though I barely eat any of the slop, it'll take a long time for my wounds to heal.
Plus, the less I eat, the less need to pee, let alone do the number two, on myself, in this cage, with no way to clean up or avoid the mess.
Let's just say, I'm happy I'm a boy and that these cages have bars, right now.
The room stinks really, and I mean really, bad. A few of the kids, and even some adults, have gotten sick. Or at least I think they did due to the amount of coughing I'm hearing.
The girl to the right of me, the one with long red hair, seems to have gotten a pretty bad rash along her legs and arms. I bet you can guess why.
The girl to my left, the one with the blue and short hair, is still holding onto a little bit of hope.
My arms and legs still bleed, and my have an infection, if I move to much to quick.
My head's pounding half the time due to the lack of drug intake.
I could really go for some benzodiazepine or something right now...
(I don't know much about drugs, so I'm using the internet. Sorry if anything seems incorrect...)
I sighed. I can imagine some right now would be amazing...
I winced as one of the people in the cages started screaming, 'Let me out! Let me out!'
Then some stomping came along followed up by a voice.
"Shut up child!" A mans voice came before he kicked the cage, or at least sounded like he did.
"We don't want to hear your stupid complaining! It's not like anyone is going to miss a worthless snot like you!" A woman's voice came just before more kicking of the cage. I could hear, what sounded like a boy, whimper.
He should have expected this, plus, it's better than some of the others I heard.
"Don't jostle the boy to much, after all, it is auction day." Another man's voice sounded through out the large, open room.
So they plan on selling us, or what...?
"Yeah. We can just beat on the ones we don't sell." The female spoke.
So I guess that's a yes...
This is really bad, isn't it?
And this all happened thanks to that chick with the darned* knife!
The little bench*...
If I wasn't so against it, I would kill her, dang* it!
Hope the worst for her...
I put my hands in the hoodie pockets to try to keep warm in this large and cold room.
I long since smoked the cigarette Jason gave me. Took awhile to get it to light, but it was worth it.
Haven't slept since I was taken. The headache prevented me from doing so, along with how uncomfortable the cage is.
After awhile, the kidnappers of most of the people in the room started taking the cages out.
It wasn't long before they started taking from my row.
The girl to my right started crying, begging to be saved since she was a few cages, a few minutes, away from being sold off.
Ah, I'm going to regret this, I just know it!
Hope I don't collapse before at least mostly everyone is out...
I quickly shot a few ecto-beams at the power box thing, making the lights go out.
I quickly transformed, went invisitange, and got out of my cage.
I can already feel the green and red blood flowing down my limbs, so I have to make this quick.
I went around, to as many cages as I could, and turned the captives intangible, before pulling them out and continuing. I think you can see why I didn't want to do this. It drains to much energy that I don't have.
"What the heck..." Some cages are opened, and I know for a fact, that was not me.
Everyone else in here is to malnourished and weakened to be able to break the cages open, and our captors wouldn't do that. So, who did.
I shook my head. Who ever it was is gone now, like I should be.
I dropped my invisibility long ago to help store my energy, but I'm starting to see dots, and I'm positive that's not a good sign.
I winced as I moved my leg, the cuts bleeding out and onto the darkened room's floor.
"Frick*..." I muttered, wobbling, trying to get control of myself enough to fly as to put less pressure on my legs.
I heard a flutter behind me, but didn't pay much attention to it due to the fact that I might bleed to the rest of my death.
One two three four, take a step.
Four three two one, take another.
One two three four, don't pass out on the floor.
Four three two one, I think I'm done...
I start falling to the cement floor, black ebbing at the edges of my vision, before I was caught.
"You need to stay wake, okay? Can you hear me?" A male voice sounded.
I nodded my head, not bothering to fight because I don't want to pass out. Who knows what this person would due to me then.
"Good. I'm Red Robin. What's your name?" Red Robin asked, clearly just trying to keep me awake.
"Phantom..." I winced at how weak my voice sounded.
"Do you know where you are?" The voice asked, to which I shook my head in response.
"Got captured. Don't know where I am..." I mumbled, half ready to just embrace the darkness.
"T'm going to pick you up now, alright?" I just nodded my head, filching as I felt the boy push against one of the cuts on my arm. He must of noticed due to his sharp intake of breath.
"What happened to you?" Red Robin asked, sounding truly worried. I just shook my head once more, not wanting to talk, much less talk about that.
"I'm going to take you outside with Robin, whose helping to treat everyone, alright?" The male said, not waiting for my answer before running out of the building.
"Robin! I have someone in need of urgent care!" Red Robin stated, not stopping his pace until he reached a tarp laid out and put my body on it.
"Phantom?!" Robin asked, nearly shouted, out of surprise.
"Yeah? Ya'know me?" I responded, words slurred slightly. I tilted my head to look at the other person that called out my name.
"I thought you disappeared almost three years ago..." Robin replied, sitting me up to take off my top to treat my wounds.
"Oww..." I winced as he tugged the top of my hazmat suit off.
"Sorry." came the only response.
"How do you know him, Robin?" Red Robin spoke up, helping another person who passed out, or something.
"Phantom was all over the news a while after he disappeared." Robin answered. "Not my fault you didn't notice."
"I was...?" I asked, looking at Robin and Red Robin's slightly blurred faces.
"Yes, you were. Now, just try to stay awake, alright?" Robin said, starting to clean the obviously infected cuts.
I'll try, but I'm sure how long I can...
