Chap.8) Bonding

POV) Rick

I smiled, I didn’t like the idea of Ash and Jessica getting married, I was stupid, she would kill him in a day- maybe sooner.

“I don’t like lilies.” Jessica snapped.

“I do.” Ash responded, they glared at each other.

“What do you like Jessica?” Mike asked, smiling.

“Roses, black roses.” Jessica said her voice flat.

“Okay, we can get both.” He said, as though that was the easiest thing ever.

They agreed. I was having fun, Mason and I bided on what the out-come would be. He said they would make it, I was not sure- at all.

“Come on, let’s go get a ring.” I said to Ash, he nodded.

At the ring store my old friend Zak stood, he looked shocked to see me, we haven’t talked since eighth grade that was when I broke off our friendship and began my friendship with Mike.

“Hello, Rickson.” Zak said, blinking away his shocked look. Using my full name hurt.

“Rick,” I responded, flinching, “It’s nice to see you again. Ash needs a wedding ring.”

“Yes then, they are in the back.” He said his voice cold, Zak led us to the back of the store, he walked fast.

The rings were along the far wall, Ash went to go pick on out. I followed Zak back to the front of the store.

“What?” He demanded coldly.

“Can’t we be friends again?” I asked, frowning.

“No. You broke off our friendship, not me. I’m not forgiving you just so you feel better.” Zak said, he was mad and I could see hurt in his eyes.

POV) Ash

I wouldn’t have believed Rick and Zak were friends but from listening to their conversion I found it true.

Zak had shaggy dark brown hair and yellow eyes, he was wearing black ripped jeans and a black T-shirt, and black stomp-boots (stomp-boots are boots made to stomp someone’s face in.). He had cold features that, for some reason, reminded me of Jessica.

“Zak I’m sorry! What more do you want me to say?” Rick asked, desperately, sounding close to tears.

“Don’t say anything. Get you’re stupid ring and go.” He said simply.

I shook my head and looked down at the ring I picked, it was simple, it had a big-small, sparkling, dimand and a golden, skinny, band.

After Zak got it out for me, rung it up, and bagged it we left. Rick gave him a long look before we left. Slowly we walked to the Wedding Dress store but Dad and Jessica had finished up and ordered a dress, I wanted to see it but they refused, saying that they told them not to show.

So Rick and I headed home, it was an hour drive, and I nearly fainted from relief. I went straight to Jessica’s room and knocked.

“Come in.” She called her voice like bells.

I went in, Jessica stood in front of me, she had on a grey tank top and grey short shorts. “Do you want your ring?” I asked her, feeling weird.

“Yes please.” She responded, shock went through me, she never said please to me, not even once.

I pulled the black box out of my pocket, I was going to hand it to her but she pushed me down so I was on one knee, oh no.

Jessica was grinning, like she won a prize.

I went along, so I opened the box and asked, “Jessica will you marry me?”

“Do I have a choice?” she asked her bell voice ringing.

“No.” I responded.

Jessica grinned, “Okay!’ she yelled in a perky voice, she jumped down on her knees and stuck out her hand so I could put the ring on her finger.

Maybe we would get along after all.
