Strange Behaviour (Part Two)

-take a shot everytime I say hormones, or, Take a swig everytime Robin is in pain-

"...so we aren't talking about that, huh?" Conner asked, it'd been about forty-five minutes since Robin's public meltdown, and practically no one had said a thing.

"What is there to talk about?" Artemis wrinkled her nose as she spoke. She didn't know why, but something about that felt really wrong to her, and the feelings of Confusion and concern were manifesting as some sort of deep anger or melancholy. "Something freaked Rob out, and Bats didn't nt give enough shits to work whatever it was out!"

"I think you're being unfare, batman was put in a very difficult situation..." Kaldur tried to reason, returning to the thermostat, which the team was fighting over on and off for nearly an hour.

"Naw, I'm with Artemis on this one. What the fuck was that?" Wally was squirming where he lay on the couch. His body had the sensation that could only be described as feeling like live bait on a fishing hook. Not only was he worried about Robin, but he had feelings similer to that of Artemis; like other things manifesting of disappointment and dejection. on top of that, he felt gross; sweaty and oily.

Conner and M'gann were getting kind of close on the couch, to the point it was very uncomfortable. She had her hand up his shirt, and he was resting his fingers on her theigh.

Wally couldn't stand this anymore, and stood up, storming off to find... something to do.

A faint clicking sound came to his ears, he followed the sound to the med bay. A timer was going off, but Black Canary was no where in sight. He wandered in, disabling the alarm. The tests were complete, five blood samples ly before him, clipped into their machines. Usually bloodtests take about twenty-four hours, the tech the justice league had never failed to impress the speedster.

He was two grades ahead in body sciences, how much could he screw this up? Wally pulled up the results, he didn't expect them to be so confusing....? Duh! These were the non-human samples, they hadn't handled martian blood in class. He could only find his and Artemis' plasma in the system, not the kid with the sudden attitude change. He could understand human symptoms, at least.

There were no known toxins located in the blood. That couldn't be right, what did the weird powder do if not poison their bloodstream.

Wally whiped cold sweat off his forehead, the air kept flucuating between sauna hot and arctic cold. M'gann and Kaldur kept saying it was too cold, whereas Artemis and Conner were sweting through their shirts, Wally was in the middle, fluctuating between the two with no middle area. Surely that had to be some sort of symptom, feverous perseption of heat, sweating and producing oil at a rate that would alert the US army.

Wally had trouble thinking, he had an idea, but it was *just* out of reach. He pushed his damp hair back, upset with himself and upset with hus brain for not working. This was like grade eight all over again...

This was like grade eight.

Duh! Around the age of twelve or thirteen you get a huge boost in hormones, which remaines high until your mid-twenties. Robin is thirteen, of course he'd be affected first! That powder must have... activated something, je wasnt sure what yet, but it made sense; Robin's outburst, their internal frustration, Conner and M'gann being *this* close to screwing eachother on the couch, the changesin body heat, they'd been pumped full of hormones! And Kaldur was least affected because his blood was argueably the least human.

"HeLlO mEgAn!" Wally let out a bark of cheer for himself, he'd pit two and two together before the league even saw the results! He needed to tell them what happened.

Bruce followed His son into the cave, Dick was already changed, but his mask is still on.

"What was that?" He ordered, the boy was still faced away, ignoring him. "Dick,  what happened back there?"

"I don't fucking know?" He exploded. "Leave me alone!" He tried to storm away,  but Bruce caught his son's arm. He was mad at Dick,  the boy didn't usually cause scenes or openly disrespect him like that. "Let me go!" He screamed.

"Not until you me what's wrong!"

"Everything!" He tore away, not backing down and trying to hold his ground. It's not like he wasn't terrified by his adopted father. He was. And that's why he couldn't show weakness by backing down.

"Dick, go to your room."

"No-"

"Come back when your ready to act your age."

Dick shouted something Bruce couldn't understand, and ran out. The man sat back at the computer and sighed. He had no goddamn clue what was going on. He could ground his son for a month, he could force Dick to apologize to his friends, but it would mean nothing if he didn't know what had caused Him to fight back at him in the first place. Maybe He was too immature to be Robin after all... Dick was just a child.

A notification sounded on the screen, a call from the lab at the mountain. He really didnt want to answer, but it was likely Black Canary with some important update about the tests. He was not so pleased to answer the call and see Barry Allen's nephew, fidgeting impatiantly.

"why did you call-"

"I know what the powder was!" Bruce raised an eyebrow, he knew Wally West was smart, but not that smart. There was no way the boy had worked everything out before him. "Well, I don't know what it was, but I know what it did!"

Bruce watched him expectantly, preparing for something unintelligible at best.  "Tell me, what did it do?"

"Puberty!" He yelled, excitedly. There was a pause, Wally realized he needed to explain further or else be terribly misunderstood. "It- the powder- it pumped us full of hormones! testosterone and Estrogen and shit!" He was fumbling over his words. "I don't know how... but I've seen the symptoms! For the past hour we've been getting pissed at each other, ms. M and superboy are being horny as hell -I mean, more than normal- and we can't leave the thermostat alone! Fluctuating body heat! irritability!" He tried to expess what he meant.

This was surprisingly making sense to Bruce. "So, Robin-"

"He's thirteen, he's already producing mad amounts of hormones without the drug! I... can't find a sample for him here, but just according to what I've found in Me and Arty's blood, he should practically be Crazed."

It was clicking into place. "Does the rest of the team know?"

"I was afraid Artemis would gut me if I told her she was angry because of brain chemicals..." He admitted.

"I'll be there shortly, call the rest of the team's mentors."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At three-twenty am that morning, six teenagers had been given some heavy hormone blockers that would last them until the effects of the drug had worn off. Robin and Artemis actually had to be force-fed the medication since they didn't want to listen to the grownups.

It was currently about seven-fifteen at the mountain, and things were cooling down. It was awkward between them, especially between Conner and M'gann, who were no longer trying to screw each other.

The zetatube called out an arrival, and Robin slunk in, redfaced and utterly humiliated.

He'd woken up thirty minutes ago with a clear mind and unwanted memories from the previous night. He was near traumatized by his childish actions and stubborness the previous night. After everything was explained, Bruce had reduced his sentence to one week grounded. He'd let (made) Dick go to the mountain to apologize to everyone, and it was all his son could do to stop Bruce from walking him there and back.

Robin slunk past the team in a walk of shame, and sat on the couch. He curled into an upright fetal position, wanting to sink into the floor. He was terrified what his team thought. He already had kids at school thinking he was a brat and a crybaby, he didn't need his friends thinking he threw fits on a regular basis.

"Sorry." He uttered, hiding his face in his sleave.

Wally looked up from his phone, he still felt very proud of himself for that morning. He watched the bird peaking shyly at them. "It's okay, man."

"No, like... I wasn't posessed. I made the conscious choices..." he admitted quietly.

"It was concious at the time, however, you were under the effects of drugs."

"It doesn't matter, it was my fault." He whined.

Artemis shrugged uncomfortable. "we don't care. It was a one off."

"We won't even bring it up until you graduate and we need stories to tell." Wally joked, earning an elbow to the rib. "Kidding! We don't even care about last night."

Dick burried his face further into his sweater, still wanting to cry a little from shame. M'gann reached out cautiously to touch him. "Robin, it's okay..."

"I gotta go." He stood abruptly, he didn't want to tell them he was grounded, but they could tell. "See you soon..."

Wally smiled up at him as ernestly as possible. "I'll call you."
