Strange Behavior
-just a story I though up-
"Are you ready?" Dianah cleaned a spot on Wally's forearm with an alcohol swab.
"Stab me." He invited.
On the mission, one of the two they were tracking attacked, spraying them with a fine white powder, which was promptly absorbed into their skin. Thus, they needed to run some bloodtests. Wally stared at the wall, waiting to be excused.
"Go ahead." She pressed a swatch of cotten against where the needle had been, and took the sample across the room and labled it. The last up was Robin, she knew he didn't like needles, and thought she'd spare him the, discomfort of being nervous infront of his teammates. "Come over here." He frowned and strutted foreward a little, she came the rest of the way to him, prepping another needle. "So we're just going to draw some blood for testing, so you should probably take a seat..."
"No thanks." He replied, a little stiffly.
She didn't really know how to respond, who wants to stand for a blood test. "It would be a lot more comfortable if you did."
"No." He spoke firmly.
"Okay..." Dianah sighed. "Put out your arm, please."
He gave her a glare. "Why?"
"Because I need to draw some blood." She was a little confused about how long this was taking.
"But I don't want you to." He replied.
Black Canary could see this would take a while. "Dick," she said quietly. "We need to, so we can find out what that powder does."
"I don't want you to take my blood." He stated, pouting a little.
"Well, how about you hurry along to debreifing, and we can talk about this later." He left, tsking exasperatedly. Dianah was suprised at him, he wasn't usually so stubborn over something so inconsequential. She thought that he must be angry about how the mission went, or maybe he hadn't slept enough the previous night, and was just crabby in general.
Robin strode into the main room. Everyone was already assembled. "You could've waited for me." He spat approaching the group.
"We're discussing what went wrong during the mission."
"Right, of course we are, because god forbid we do something right!" Robin scowled, as frustration turned inexplicably to rage on his cheeks.
Batman stared at his kid, something was not right. "What happened on the mission?" He ordered.
"Nothing, you never give us anything important." He said through gritted teeth. "The most important thing you've let us do is have some creep blow cocaine in our faces."
Wally was getting worried, this was not very in character. "Dude... are you, feeling okay?"
"Never better!" He shouted sarcastically. "A great day! Love it! Nothing is better than fighting for independence and getting a heavily monitored phone line! He won't even let us succeed, everything we do is wrong!" He was yelling now, face red and he was sweating hard.
"Robin, go home."
"No! You don't want to see our team succeed, you just want to keep us in a position where We still need you!" He was panting for breath now, and the rest of the team was getting scared.
"Robin, what is happening?" Kaldur asked, his teammate hadn't been like that during the mission, it had came out of nowhere. "Is everything alright?"
"Nothing's okay!" he wasn't crying, but sounded like he could.
M'gann tried to say something. "Robin are you-"
"No!" He strode up to his mentor, his chin stuck out. "I want to do something useful, I'm not some kid, I can handle it."
"Robin."
"I want us to do something Useful! and maybe some appreciation would b nice!"
"Robin."
"We're not weak, B-"
"Robin, go home, now!" Bruce afixed him with a strong batglare, that was enough to cripple a grown man. A tiny fleck of reason must have gotten into Dick's brain, because he stopped approaching his father. "Now."
Robin turned on his heel and sprinted out, stomping furiously throigh the zetabeam.
It was surreal in the mountain, dead quiet. What do you even say after watching your son embarrass himself with a teenage temper tantrum?
"What the FUCK was that?" Artemis exploded.
Batman turned to them, planning to ground Dick the second he got home. "What happened out there?"
"I... I don't know!"
"He didn't act strange until we arrived." Kaldur commented, concerned, on the edge of calling his youngest teammate to see if he was okay.
Bruce thought for a few minutes. "I recomend that you stay at the mountain for the night, we may have to run more tests."
"What about Rob?" Wally asked desperately.
"I will deal with Robin."
-there will be at least one other part in this storyline, I'll post it sooner if there's enough interest-
