1) Dick meets his (older) brothers for the first time

"If Bruce wants to take him in, then okay." Nineteen-year-old Tim Drake reasoned. "I'm sure Bruce has thought this through..."

"Father once kept a file of the entire league's weaknesses in a relatively accessible location, causing a nearly world ending disaster."

Jason looked up from his phone. "total fuckboy move if you ask me."

Damian Wayne, aged Twenty-seven, turned to face his obnoxious fourteen-year-old brother in the backseat. "No one asked you, Todd, they never do."

"Whatever." He looked back down, pretending to do something on his phone, but he was just scanning through old memos. "I just don't think we need ANOTHER. He could've stopped at me."

"Father could've stopped at me too, but I suppose you're glad he didn't." Damian growled, he'd been this song and dance thrice now. Whoever is youngest feels unwanted as soon as Bruce takes in another.

"I wish he had! I hate this!"

"Jason, don't be like... that, around the kid, his parents just died..." Tim scolded. "He's in mourning."

"And I'm in afternoon, bitch, he ain't special!"

"Todd, I swear, I will run this car off the road if you do not shut the hell up!" Damian threatened, completely done with this. Their father had gone ahead to work out some paperwork and documentation, and so the other three had been told to come pick him, and the new boy, up.

"I don't remember having this?" He asked, gesturing to the boosterseat next to him.

"It was Timothy's."

Tim turned to him. "Thank you, Damian." He spoke sourly, he'd needed the booster seat for only a month or so, but You don't always, actually, ever, need your little brother to know you had a booster seat. Nor does anyone need the reminder that you were skinny and lightweight enough to need one.

But before Jason could lay into him about it, they pulled up in a small parking lot, and Damian switched off the car. "Well we're here, so You two can shut up for a while."

Tim got out of the car, strolling around the lot in the light rain. He knew he'd have to sit in the backseat as soon as Bruce arrived, so he might as well avoid his brothers. He practiced how he'd talk to the kid when he arrived, but there were too many variables. Tim had no clue how the kid would act, he started practicing how to respond to each possibility; if the kid was crying, if he was excited, if he shellshocked...

He saw his father at the end of the lot, exiting a building with several people watching him distrustingly. Against reason, Tim hurried towards him. "Bruce!"

His father held out a hand to slow him. "Hello, Tim." He turned to the child who's hand he was holding. "It's okay, Dick, Remember how I told you about my son's; Damian, and Tim, and Jason? This is Tim."

Now Tim saw the boy properly; he was tiny, too small for his age, with black hair and a few scrapes on his arms and face. He could've been an extra in the Hard Knock Life number from Annie.

"Hi. Richard, right?"

Not the ideal first impression... obviously the kid was Richard, what a stupid thing to ask!

The kid didn't say anything, he just looked down and huddled closer to Bruce, terrified. Bruce didn't force him to speak, he just held his hand securely and walked him to the car.

"Okay, Dick, I'm going to let go, and I want you to go with Tim, okay?" The boy looked up at him, terrified. "It's okay, I'm right here,. Tim's just going to help you get in your seat, okay?"  He reluctantly nodded a little, his eyes fixed on the man as he backed cautiously towards Tim.

Damian had gotten out of the drivers seat, and was now hanging around the passenger side door. "Who do you think you are, taking the front seat?" He grabbed Jason by his sweatshirt and pulled him out of the car. He dropped the teen on the asphalt, and took the passenger seat for himself.

"I don't want to sit in the back with Timmy and new boy!" Jason whined.

"You could sit in the trunk." The eldest brother proposed. Jason looked like he was considering it.

"No one's sitting in the trunk." Bruce established. "Jason, sit next to Dick." Jason stomped to the backseat, slamming himself into the driver's side backseat.

Tim was fastening a scared looking boy into the booster seat between them. Jason looked the boy up and down, he could beat this kid up if he wanted. But he didn't really want to.

"Hey, welcome to my world." Tim whispered to him, fastening Dick's car seat seatbelt.

"Hmm?"

"Middle child. I hope you're ready to be forgotten."

Jason frowned. "Bruce won't forget me for him."

"Jason!" Tim hissed. he hoped that Dick hadn't understood any of that.

"Boys..." Bruce warned, reminding them to buckle up. "Dick, these are Damian, Tim- of course, and Jason." He gestured to each boy as he spoke.

"Boys, this is Richard Grayon. But he prefers to be called Dick." He glared at Jason preemptively, but Jason didn't say anything.

"Hi, Dick." Tim smiled softly, making sure that the boy's seatbelt was taught.

Dick gave a tiny nod. He let out a little squeak of a word. "Yes."

"English is not his first language, be patient."

"Hey Dick." Jason grinned. "Fuck. Fuck. Come in, say it. Fuck."

"Jason. Stop that." Bruce said as patiently as he could.

"Fuck off. Come on, Dickie boy."

"Damian, handle your brother." Bruce tried to keep his eyes on the road.

The eldest brother turned in his seat. "Richard, don't pay attention to anything Jason Todd says."

"Oh, right. I'm Jason by the way!" Jason beamed, maybe there were ways he could have fun with this new kid...

"My name is Damian Wayne. I'm the biological son, and I'm in charge. Understand?"

The boy gave another terrified nod, looking up with his huge blue eyes. "Yes."

"Can you say any other words?" Jason asked, still a little

Dick looked at him, dead serious, and uttered, "No."

he didn't mean for it to be funny,  but around him, the car burst into laughter, scaring him considerably. It wasn't a joke, the only words he felt really confident saying were 'yes', 'no', 'my name is Dick', and 'thank you'.

"Alright, boys, let's keep it down." Their father reminded. At least they weren't fighting...

"Hey, Dick, your bedroom is going to be right next to mine!" Jason exclaimed. "In fact, you're getting MY old bedroom." He'd gotten permission to move his stuff next door so Dick could have his room. It was just a lot more convinient than un-baby-proofing Jay's room and baby proofing a new one for Dick. At the manor, baby proofing just meant that everything was secured to either the floor or ceiling, and all the windows were dead-bolted.

"Thank you." Dick replied cautiously.

"Just be careful of the THING under the bed..."

"JASON!"

2) Dick meets the League

Bruce had been, not 'hiding', more like... protecting Dick from everyone. He knew the league would never hurt his son, but just in case....

It was a few months before he introduced Robin to the league. He didn't want to, but he needed someone to watch the kid for a couple hours, and a literal league if super heroes were about as safe as he could get on short notice.

As it happened, the league had been planning an intervention; planning to tell him that he couldn't just take on a nine-year-old ward with no explanation. Because, as it happened, nine was way the hell too young to be risking his life out on the streets of Gotham.

"Batman-" Dianah began, as soon as he stepped though the zetabeam. "We need to talk about your new... sidekick."

"Another time. Right now, I need your help."

"No, not another time, we need to discuss it!" Barry countered. "You can't keep avoiding this conversation because it has to happen."

"No," a single word from him silenced the speedster. "Right now I need your help. I am going on a mission that's far too dangerous and need someone who's able to watch Robin for a few hours."

Hal caught onto him. "That was it, 'Robin'."

"Uh huh." A tiny voice answered from just behind batman. The leaguers turned to look around him to see a small boy, he looked about eight, with bouncy black hair and slightly tanned skin. He'd look like he'd just stepped out of a GAP Kids advert, if it weren't for the traffic-light costume.

Diana didn't exactly squeal, but she was close. She stepped around to look at the boy, bending over to his height. "Hi Robin. I'm Wonder Woman." She smiled at him, encouraging him to do the same.

The boy looked as though he might respond, but turned to batman, who'd told him not to do anything. He finally got the reluctant nod of approval. "Hi." He uttered quietly, not wanting to leave his adopted father's side. Bruce had told him about these people, and they sounded terrifying and strong. "Sorry you have to watch me." He muttered, trying to make his english as understandable as possible.

"it's okay, there's nothing wrong." Wonder Woman cooed, looking back to the others, encouraging them that the kid didn't bite.

Dick continued to Bruce for permission to speak, his father had drilled it into his head; don't talk about personal stuff on the job and vis-versa.

"You can talk a bit." Bruce reminded before leaving, patting his head.

"How long will you be gone?"

"Three or four hours at most."

"What if something happens?" Dick begged.

"I'll do my best to keep contact, but I'll be very busy. Okay?"

"...okay."

So Dick set up a little station in the corner, he had homework and a water bottle, and Bats warned them that he'd probably fall asleep at some point. He'd also warned them that if anything happened to his son there'd be hell to pay.

They desided to take shifts, watching the kid lazily as they tried to finish stuff for work.

After about twenty minutes of silence, Dick looked up at Clark. "You're Clark Kent." He stated, matter-of-factly.

"What?" He asked, a hint of anxiety in his voice.

"You're Clark Kent."

Clark was nervous that bats might have told this chatty little kid the IDs of the whole league. "Why do you say that?"

"Because he is you, you're just wearing different clothes!" Dick held up the artical he was reading for class, there was a little portrait and the words 'Artical sourced by Clark Kent' in the corner. "See? You'd look like this if you had your glasses on."

Clark was defeated by this kid and his irrefutable evidence. "Okay, fine, but you can't tell ANYONE. Okay?"

"Don't worry, no one is going to ask!" He cheerfully continued is work.

Clark looked up at Diana and J'onn like he was on the office. He raised his eyebrows in a  'your turn' look, stood up, and hurried out to process.

"Wow, Robin, you're really smart." Wonder Woman encouraged.

"Thank you miss... miss something- Prince!" He smiled. She looked impressed. "I read your article in class yesterday, and I really liked your last name so I remembered it!"

"Wow, you have a very good memory!" She smiled; kid was cute as hell.

Babysitting wasn't as bad as they'd anticipated; the kid did his homework, chatted nonstop, used a marker to doodle on his arm, and eventually passed out of the floor.

"... that was too easy." Barry checked the clock.

As if on queue, Dick, Robin to them, began stirring in his sleep, blinking his closed eyes and whimpering to himself.

"What's going on?" Dianah asked desperately. "J'onn? Is he okay?"

"He's frightened."

"What happened to 'that was too easy'? I liked that train of thought." Olliver admitted.

The league watched, horrified as the boy curled up emitted a devistated whine, waking himself up. The boy pressed his palms into his eyes, petrified. "Bruce?" He uttered near-silently.

"Shh. Are you okay?" Diana hastened forewards.

The boy looked up at her, she was releaved to see recognition in his face. "I want home!" He managed to squeal between Loose sobs. "I want Bruce." He held onto her with all his might, trusting her the most out of the group because she looked a little bot like his mom.

"I know, I know, but Bruce isn't here right now." She reassured. "It's okay, let's go to another room..." She picked him up as gently as possible and took him to a side room to let him cry for a little while.

"We should call bats..."

3) Dick meets the team (which he isn't in, I guess)

To say Dick's adopted father was overprotective was an understatement. When Dick had heard about the cadmus event, he was ecstatic. He'd never heard of kids being that independent, he wished he'd been there, but Bruce hadn't even taken him out that day.

Bruce seemed to think that this 'team' would a bad influence on his son. He would NOT let his kid around these older teens. The team had mission after mission, and Dick sat at home and stayed safe.

Dick begged Bruce for months to let him be on the team, he just got excuses; 'they're busy', 'you're too young', 'you need to stay in Gotham'... you get the idea. Until one day, the team had completed a relatively good mission, and something changed.

"Bruce, please? I think I could help them a lot!" Dick proposed, bringing up the topic, expecting to be shut down.

"Dick, I've been thinking... I think it's about time you met the team."

If the boy was attached to blood rate moniter, a spike the size of Everest would've appeared. "REALLY?"

"You aren't joining them ... not yet, anyway... this is just in case there's an emergency and the league is off world."

"Yeah, okay!" Dick was reeling from all of this. "When are we going?"

"I could ask the team to assemble early this evening."

"Oh my god! You're the BEST!" He incased his adoptive father in a sudden hug, and took off to stand in the bathroom and freak out for a couple hours.

Finally it was time, Dick changed into costume in a flash, bouncing on his toes like this was the best day ever.

"No secret identity." Bruce-now batman- reminded him.

"I know!" Dick practically ran though the zetabeam, siked for... whatever he was going to see on the other side.

No one knew why the hell Batman had called a meeting. "My vote is... new mission!" Wally bubbled. "It's gotta be!"

"I think he found out that we did something dumb." Artemis argued.

The metalic voice called out a bame, an unfamiliar name to mist of them.

"Who the fuck is Rob-" Artemis was knocked off balance by... a kid. Hhe wore a mostly black and red uniform and a domino mask.

He stared up at them, mouth slightly agape.

"I'm early." He muttered.

The team jumped into battle stances. "Whothe hell are you?" Comner growled.

"I- uhh, I am... Sup."

"Sup." Wally responded on instinct

The kid stared at him.  "KF?"

"Yep."

The kid ran forewards, startlingly them, and started talking to Wally like they were Best friends.

"What's-"

Just then, Batman arrived. "Robin." He ordered, and the kid tailed back to his side.

"Bats, who's this?" Artemis ordered, but she knew. Growing up she'd see flashes of Batman's sidekick here and there on the news.

"I'm his accomplice, m'name is Robin."

Artemis took a step forewards and mesured the kid's hight against hers, he was 5"1 and most. He turned a little pink.

"A kid?" Conner asked eventually. "We already aren't taken seriously."

"I'm not a kid, I just turned thirteen!" The kid, Robin, indignantly.

"Oh, then you're Fine." Artemis said sarcastically. "Bats, We aren't letting some thirteen year old KID on the team."

"Robin won't be joining the team." Batman said. "I'm only introducing him in case there's an emergency and the league is off world."

The kid- Robin, looked a little embarrassed about his mentor not letting him join. "Yeah, I can't, apparently."

"Hey, Rob, lemme introduce you to the team." Wally grinned, Bats didn't let him see Dick nearly enough. "Can I?" He asked, getting the nod of approval from bats, and pulling Robin a few feet away, for privicy reasons. "First up, Rob, this is out team leader, Aqualad, lawful neutral. And then there's Superboy, Chaotic neutral, Artemis, lawful neutral, ms. M, lawful good."

"Robin." He smiled a little, pretending he wasn't intimidated by the much older teens.

"True neutral." Wally quickly explained. "He's crazy even though he looks pretty adorable."

"I dont look 'adorable'." Robin stated angrily, glaring at Wally. He really wanted to impress these cool, Independent, big kids.

"Okay, bud." Wally patted his hair. "Bats, can D-Rob stay for a bit? We can give him a tour!"

Dick gasped a little and turned around. "Please? Can I?" He begged. "Come on, let me! "

"Five minutes."

"Fifteen!"

"Ten." Bruce sighed. He knew this would happen, just being around the team was making his kid rebellious. There was no going back now, the in,y thing je could do is make sure Dick didn't get carried away.

"Fine, ten." He agreed, turning to the others ecstatically. "Come on! Show me around!"
