Deaged (part Three; Clark)

To say the day had been gruelling would be a hell of an understatement. Sure, Conner hadn't *intentionally* broken anything (which earned him a secret plate or Oreos from a very grateful Roy), and M'gann did make a bit of a mess playing with her makeup, but it wasn't too bad.

No, the worst was the younger kids: Wally ate and ran and ate and ran and occasionally even drank, Artemis found Robin's babysitting guidelines and read them aloud, teasing him until the child burst into tears.

Dick cried a lot, he cried when Artemis made fun of him, he cried when no one noticed him for thirty minutes, he cried because he missed his dad, he cried when he woke up from a nap and couldn't find anyone, and even when Roy wouldn't let him electrocute himself.

Roy's only asylum for seven hours was texting his boyfriend, Jay, who thought it was hilarious. Everytime he begged him for help it would go like:

'WHAT DO I DO? One of them is putting a fork in the socket!'

'Lmao spOrk'

Roywas glad when the evening shift arrived.

"CLARK, THANK OUR LORD SATAN; THE REAL MAN!" The eighteen year old cried.

"...hi."

"full disclosure; Kaldur is an asset, but he doesn't know how to help unless you directly tell him. Conner might freak out, but pray he doesn't. M'gann is harmless, but mind she doesn't levitate you. Wally wants approval-"

They heard a sharp laugh. The blonde dictator loved the power this gave her. "Here's a good one; 'we don't know if he's toilet trained as of yet-'"

"NO!" The toddler screeched, trying to fight her for the paper.

"'best for him to wear a diaper until returned to normal' " She cackled, continuing to mock the boy. "Just wait until you're thirteen again!"

"ARTEMIS CROCK, STOP BEING A SADISTIC BITCH! HE'S THREE YEARS OLD!" Roy sighed heavily. "Artemis is an sadist bitch who enjoys being bossy and upsetting Di-ROBIN. Speaking of the kid, he cries nonstop and wants his dad- BYE!" He ran through the zetatube before Clark could ask a single question.

The kids were in the living room; Robin was crying again, frustrated and humiliated, Wally was hugging him, Kaldur tried to calm him down, and M'gann was playing with her pop socket. Artemis folded her peice of paper, sticking it in her pocket for later.

Conner just stared at Clark, disappointed, yet hopeful.

"Everyone. I'll be watching you for two hours until Batman and the others get here..." Robin froze for a second at his adopted father's name. "I'll be ordering dinner, and working at the kitchen for an hour or so. stay close."

It was an order.

Children don't take orders. Especially crying children who feel as though their lives were just ruined.

Wally chased after him, to help him. Kaldur gave them time, he wanted to check they were okay, but knew Robin just wanted to hide right now.

So he stayed behind a bit, trying to reason with Artemis; she wasn't heartless, but she was desperate for power and leverage. She was raised by criminals, you expected an emotionally healthy child? Eventually he convinced her to 'apologize'. They went into the mountain, seperating to fond the duo.

M'gann Tried to talk to Conner, but he didn't say anything, just stared at Clark, enthralled. After ten minutes, she left to find the others.

Clark tried to work, alone with his clone.

That morning, Conner had gotten closer to Superman than any time before. He resented that Superman had restrained his when he was mad, yet... he was lonely. He had two biological fathers and twice the normal amount of daddy issues. The team alreadt had an excess of daddy issues.

"What?" The man finally snapped, looking up at the boy, who stared back mutely. He tsked and reopened his laptop; he needed to finish this story.

Wally checked all the regular spots; accessible vents, closets, loose flooring, under beds, inside desk drawers (he won a lot or hide and seek games with that one), but he could not find the kid.

"ROB! Dick...?" He fought through a few more rooms to discover that Robin wasn't even hidden. He just lay on the floor. "Are you okay?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clark finally looked up again. All the kids, who he specifically told to stay still, were gone. Except the clone, who continued staring at him.

"Where are the others?"

"You don't like me." Conner observed.

"It doesn't matter how I feel about having my DNA stolen." The man was not happy to be left alone with his replica "Where are the others?"

"Not about your DNA. About ME." The boy was getting irritated, almost as irritated as his existence made Clark.

"You are my hijacked DNA."

"Why do you hate me? I didn't WANT to be made!"

Clark stood, already fed up with the kid. "Where did the others go?"

"No. Why do you hate me?"

"Look, I don't care." He said, heading for the door. "Don't touch anything." He'd hardly turned away when there was a deathening crash. Conner stood, deadfaced, next to the overturned couch. "We don't do that." He scolded.

"We? We don't do anything."  The boy stated.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You're okay, it doesn't matter..." Wally tried desperately to calm the hystarics. "Hey, Batman will be back soon. Huh? Bruce will be here soon."

This, surprisingly, did nothing to sooth him. "NO! I don't-not supposed to-"

"What?"

After several tries, Wally finally decerned: "He said no crying!"

Seemed about right. Dick's father managed to be simultaneously absent and overbearing.

"Well, he won't know!" The redhead thought. "It's a secret!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conner followed the older kryptonian. "If you ever came here, you'd know how to find them."

"I didn't ask for your help."

"I didn't ask to be made." He trailed after the man. "ONE, TWO, THREE, EYES ON ME!"

"ONE, -NOPE!" Wally tried again to stop himself.

"That's KF. That only works for him." Conner stated. "Good luck."

"Wait!" Clark didn't know HOW the boy knew that would work. "How do you... summon the others?"

"You didn't ask for my help."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Why's he crying?" Artemis caught up with the boys.

"Cause you made him! He's not supposed to cry. Batman's going to be mad!" Wally shouted, sitting close to Dick and trying to calm him.

"Stop crying, I was just messing around. It's funny!" She wasn't helping. "I just thought it was funny. It says You need help getting ready for bed."

Wally hugged the boy closer. "Stop! He's crying."

She mumbled something. "Fine!"

"Say sorry to him!"

"Sorry, Robin." She couldn't understand why he was being such a crybaby; she was just teasing him.

Just then, Kaldur appered in the doorway. "Robin?"

"He's okay, but he's not supposed to be crying." Wally pulled the boy onto his lap, as if to pick him up.

"Hello?" They all turned to see Conner enter,  he was clutching M'gann's wrist and guiding her after him. "Follow me."

Clark wasn't thrilled that it took his clone less then five minutes to locate everyone.

"Stay on the couch." Kaldur told the young three. "Artemis, be nice to Robin. M'gann, stay close."

"Kay." She lolled in midair, fascinated by a copy of Seventeen magazine.

"I found them." Conner stated.

"Good." Clark didn't think that kid needed any aproval for doing the bare minimum.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bruce arrived and picked up his teary-eyed son, trying to calm him. And as much as he'd rather spend the next thrity minutes making sure Dick was okay, he needed to address the crushed coffee table.

"What happened?" He approached Clark, still holding the boy.

"'Superboy' got angry and broke it." He stated, glaring at the kid, who was ranting to Dianah across the main room.

"Why?"

"I don't know? He has no control!"

Dick muttered something neither could hear. His father held him a little lower, further back. "Clark. I know ypu didn't ask for a son-"

"He's not my son."

"He's your biological desendant. Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, he is your son. You need to address him."

"I'm going home. The kids are your problem now." Clark said, ignoring him, and hurrying through the zetabeam.
