Bedtime

-I've been going out to spend the day with friends lately, so I've had trouble writing this week-

"Hey Rob." Wally walked through the living room, seeing Dick perched on the back of the couch. Dick didn't respond. "Rob?"

"Robin?" M'gann called from the kitchen.

Robin burried his head in some decorative pillows.

"He's asleep." Conner stated. "Has been for a while."

They carried on, quieter, so as not to wake him. Suddenly, there was a buzzing sound, and Robin sat bolt upright with a gasp. His hand flew to his comm.

"Bats?" He asked sleepily. "No, I wasn't. No, I wasn't!... Yep, I'm coming... okay." He stumbled up and stretched. "Oh, hey Walls."

"Hey, what was that?" Wally asked.

"Batman needs me." He hastily explained, yawning.

"You look tired." M'gann observed.

"Ehh." He streched. "I have to go." He turned, and hurried out.

"That was weird." Conner stated. "I've never seen him sleep."

"Yeah." Wally shrugged. "He hates sleeping in front of people, Bats is always pestering him not to show weakness."

ROBIN-B01

The boy stumbled through the zetabeam, and let out all the air in his lungs. He hurried to the sofa and threw himself down.

"How was the crime?" Wally asked.

"Good. Crime was bad. But now, I am good." He rested his eyes closed and sighed again. Another heavy buzz in his ear. Dick sat upright again, his back aching, and answered the call. "Yeah? No, I'm okay... No, I'm coming..."

"Is that Batman again?" Wally asked.

Dick held up a finger to quiet him. "Ugh! When will this be over? Yea, yeah, I KNOW! I know... I'm on route." He stood up, not having rested more than ten seconds. "Later, guys."

"Again?" Conner asked. "You just got back."

"I just... need to do this." He hurried out, leaving them robin-less once more.

ROBIN-B01

BATMAN- 01

"GUYS! ROB'S BACK!"

The boy stumbled back in, raising his arms dramatically to the roaring cheers of his teammates.

"I'm back!" He forced a grin.

"How was the crime that time?"

"Worse." He admitted, lowering his arms in defeat.

Batman cut off their joking, as always. "Team, you have a new mission."

"Awesome," Wally slung an arm around Dick's waist. "But, shouldn't Rob take this one easy? He just had two back-to-back missions."

Bruce looked at his son. "He can handle it."

"Right, yeah." Dick jerked awake, and put his hand over Wally's, which was on his hip. "I can do this."

"Okay..." His redhead agreed.

Their mission was simple; a stay at a safe distence and watch for a deal involving illegal shipments involving the new super-serum. It seemed like it wouldn't pressure Robin too much, so hopefully it'd be fine.

Something kind-of cool about the bioship is that it moulds its seats around whoever is in it. Robin's usually had lowered seatbelts or some sort of subtle, boosted seat to account for his hieght. But today, it had an added feature: Holding his neck up while he slept.

He'd insisted, halfway to the site, that he was fine. Then he fell alseep. No one wanted to wake him up, so Wally was elected. He waited fot the others to disembark, and leaned in, close to his boyfriend-uh-Boy Toy- no, Boyfriend was better. They'd been secretly going steady for a few weeks, and really didn't know what they were.

"Birdie?" He reached out, carefully, like the boy might bite his hand off. "Wake up..." he whispered, in a sing-song voice. Duck moaned and rolled over under his seatbelts. "Dude, we have a mission."

Immidiately, a shaky hand raised and undid the seatbelts. He made himself stand up. "Nmmnmmkay let's go." He clasped Wally's shoulder and let him lead them out.

Batman was not happy to hear that his kid had fallen asleep on a mission. Robin was not happy that Batman knew he'd fallen askeep

"Robin, you can't fall asleep while working. You can rest in between missions, but never during."

"I know." Dick sighed. "I'm sorry, it won't happen again."

"I should hope not." Bats looked across the whole team. "Stay put for debriefing. I'll be right back."

Robin flopped to the floor, sitting up with his eblows on his knees, propping up his head.

"Robin, when's the last time you slept?" Kaldur asked, always looking for the team.

"On the mission, didn't you hear bats?" He muttered.

"No, your last full night of sleep."

"There's no full night of sleep in Gotham." He replied. "But, like... Tuesday, maybe?"

It was Saturday.

"Dude, you NEED to sleep." Wally exclaimed, wrapping his arm around his boyfriend's shoulders.

"I just did."

"Yeah, for TEN MINUTES." Artemis exclaimed. "You're REALLY annoying when you're tired! Please just sleep, so we don't have to deal with that!"

M'gann gave her a look. "Please, Robin, sleep."

"I'm fine." Dick leaned on Wally's shoulder. He rested his eyes closed, just until Bruce got back.

Robin was asleep when Batman got back.

"Robin." He stated. "Wake up."

Robin groaned, covered his ears, rolling over so his head was resting on Wally's lap. The redhead looked up at the bat. "He's tired."

"He can rest after the briefing."

"You keep Saying that, but things keep coming up!" Wally replied.

"Sir, if Robin can rest for a while, than perhaps you can brief him later..."

"Robin will wake up."

Artemis stood in front of the boys. "No, he will sleep. He needs to rest so he will stop being annoying!"

"Please, Batman, He needs to sleep."

"He can sleep later." The boy's mentor objected, no child of his needed to skip the tiniest chore because he was slightly tired.

Wally set Dick's head down on the floor and stoop up. "No, he WILL SLEEP, Now."

Kaldur Backed up his teammates. "Robin must rest until later."

"Please, Batman, He needs to sleep." M'gann pleaded. "He's exhausted."

"He's fine."

"LISTEN TO US, YOU UPPITY BITCH-" Conner tried to control his frustration. "Anyone could see that Robin NEEDS to sleep."

"I don't need you're opinion."

Conner laughed bitter. "Well you're going to get it..."

Conner began going off, leaving the other's petrified. Superboy was losing it on THE Batman, what an idiot! A brave, brave, idiot!

Robin stirred, letting out a low whine, and covering his ears. "Supes, quiet, Rob will wake up." Wally hissed.

Conner didn't acknowledge him, but continued his rant in a hushed tone. "We will not hand Robin over to you unless he is immidiately taken home to sleep-"

"Step down." Batman ordered. Before Conner could argue, he spoke again. "I won't take Robin back, unless you're ready to cooperate."

"Oh, we're cooperating. We just want to make sure OUR TEAMMATE is taken care of. Kid, how is he?"

Wally checked. "Asleep; Fast."

"Good." Conner replied. "Take him home."

Bruce was tired of these kids. "Robin doesn't need you to protect him."

"With all due respect, sir, he does need to rest." Kaldur argued. "Please, let him rest."

Bats approached the kid, Wally west was in his way, sort of half-holding Robin in his arms.  "I'll take him with me, if your team never back talks again; I know what's best."

"I'm afraid I can't promise that; our teammates come first."

'Of course'. Bruce thought. 'They prioritize friendships over their responsibilities'.

He reached out and took his son out of the older boy's arms. The team was astonished that he could pick up their fiesty teammate without even a reaction.

"I'll be right back." Robin over his shoulder, he carried the boy through the beam and into the batcave. Maybe he should've let Dick rest more between missions, not all of those missions needed The Robin...

He took the boy off his shoulders and set him down. "Alfred, take Dick to bed. He... he needs it."

Dick was set down on his feet, swaying, and hardly concious.

"Of course, Master Bruce." The butler hooked his arm around Dick's shoulder, leading him upstairs, and changing him into pyjamas.

"I need to go repramand the team for... doing the right thing." He growled.

Shortly Dick was curled up in bed, fast asleep until sunday dinner. No more patrol that week.
