"Pyra look out!" I heard someone yell making me whip my head around. I only barely managed to duck when a knife came hurdling at my head from the hand of a henchman. It skimmed my cheek making me let out a hiss as my eyes began to glow. Grabbing some of the fire around us I shot it out like a whip knocking the man unconscious. I looked around to see the rest of the team finished up. My eyes though traveled to conners on their own accord checking him over. He was perfectly fine as usual. My eyes traveled to his face to see his eyes staring into mine with so many emotions.

Relief was the last thing I felt because just seconds later a loud crack of a gun went off Conners eyes widened as he yelled a loud, "No!" Charging forward he took out the last man standing who had fired the gun. Placing my hand on my stomach I pulled it away seeing blood seep from my black body suit. The orange and red streaks on the suit near my stomach turned a rusty color due to the blood.

"Pyra?" I heard Connor say softly from behind me. Turning slowly I looked down and then back up at him. My face contoured in pain.

His eyes widened as he ran back to my side catching my falling body.

"Your going to be fine, don't worry," he whispered softly as we flew back to the cave. The fear in his eyes and everyone else around us told a different story. His hand stayed on the wound applying the pressure it needed to stop the blood. All I could do was grit my teeth and try not to let any of my pain be showed to much.

Another 5 minutes and we were back at the cave with me being rushed into the infirmary.

A mask was placed over my mouth as they whispered for me to breathe, and like that I was falling into the dark abyss that was unconsciousness.

My head swam with all my worst nightmares, but these weren't fantasies that my mind made up. No, these were memory's.

My family dead in my childhood home. All my friends body's found in different places. Every single person I loved dead. But this time one person was added to the dead list.

Conner.

But he wasn't dead. He was perfectly alive, as long as he didn't get to close to me. My powers were a danger and I would only harm him. It didn't matter that he was invincible I would never take the chance with him. Never with him.

A gasp escaped me as I sat up. The bed sheets under my hands were charred and my hair was on edge smile rising from it. My clothes and whole body were covered in water, looking up I saw Charlie sheepishly holding a bucket next to my bed (a/n I wanted to throw myself in this one hehe) "sorry just couldn't have you burn the place down. There still fixing the kitchen from when I tried to make dinner the other night."
A shiver ran down both of us as we though of the food that was probably poisoned.

"Well thanks, so how long have I been out?"

"About 2 days," rubbing my head I nodded excepting the answer. Trying to sit up with the help of Charlie I groaned holding my stomach.

"She's awake!" I heard someone shout at us from the door. "You're awake!" Conner said to me running forward to envelope me in his arms. Charlie made some weird hand gestures before running out silently laughing to herself.

Pulling away Conner looked me over before grabbing both sides of my head making me look into his eyes. "Please never do that to me again," my eyes were wide as I noticed how close our faces were.

"I love you," he whispered shocking me. He loved me. Me! Leaning forward he softly kissed my lips my own melted into his for a moment till I realized what I was doing. Pulling away abruptly startling us both.

"No you don't," I said my voice cracking softly.

"Yes I d-"

"No! You can't! No one can. Everyone who does ends up hurt and I can't have you getting hurt because of me,"

"Pyra I love you!" Jumping out of the bed I stumbled pain shooting up my body. Ripping out the IV from my arm I ran as fast as I could down the hall. I was almost out of the hospital wing of the cave when my feet were swept up and I was cradled in conners arms. I didn't notice till now that tears were running down my cheeks.

"Why are you running," he said angrily but the hurt in his voice showed. "What? Am I so bad that you want to run from me,"

"Conner," I whispered. "No, it's not you-"

"Don't finish that sentence if your going to say it's not you but me,"

"But it is me! Everyone I love gets hurt. I don't want you to be added to that list!"

"You love me?" He whispered softly placing his forehead on mine as he placed me on my feet in the door way of the infirmary.

"Yes," turning my head to lose eye contact my chin was caught making me look up. Kissing me again he didn't let me go this time.

"You won't hurt me, you can't. Indestructible remember," he joked making me let a soft smile come to my lips.

"Your not going to let me go are you?" I said with a quark to my lip.

"Not even if you put a kryptonite bullet in my heart," shaking my head I smiled before leaning up an initiating my own kiss.

"Then I love you,"
