Chapter 55: Home Fires
3rd Person POV:
New York City
A federal reserve truck stops outside the Westfield World Trade Center. The guards carefully unload crates of freshly printed bills for the trade center. The large crates are then quickly moved into a secure storage room where they will be divided up among the various stores that have withdrawn the money from their accounts to be used as a float for the upcoming holiday season.
One of the Federal Reserve agents grabs a crowbar and pry open the lid on a crate. The other agent takes the delivery form to ensure the crates are filled with the correct amount of money for each store.
Guard 1: "I can't wait to be done today and I can't believe that these stores are already preparing for the holiday season. It's only September."
Guard 2: "No kidding. Hey, have you seen the news about the Justice League? They opened a meta-human youth center in Taos, New Mexico."
Guard 1: "Who cares? G. Gordon says it's just a place for the League to train kids to break the law and disobey their parents."
The guard snapped the lid off and a small red liquid shot up, coating the top layer of the new bills and quickly soaking in. In a split second the bills were back to their normal colour, no trace of the red liquid remained.
Guard 1 : "Blah, shit got in my mouth. I swear this new sanitizer is ridiculous."
Guard 2: "Just hold your breath. The boss said it would be in every package."

Artemis and Will were having an exceptionally busy morning. Artemis was packing up for another day of training with Halo, Geoforce and Forager while Will was packing up a bag full of clothes and drinks for Lian.
Will is taking his daughter to Barry and Iris Allen's home in Star City. Iris has invited all the parents and children with close relation to the Justice League over for a play date.
Most parents have significant others in the League but some like Will are former heroes that retired and moved on from the hero life.
Artemis: "Alright I'm heading out, I'll see you this evening."
Will: "Try not to have too much fun."
Artemis: "I'm sure I won't. (Y/n) said he isn't coming today, he made up some excuse but I think it's because he doesn't trust Dr. Jace. Jeff finally convinced Dick to let him bring her today and I don't think our friendly agent wants any part of it."
Will: "Maybe he's right. She's got a colourful track record to say the least."
Artemis: "Well, we're big on second chances."
Will: "Just watch your back. There's still that Hunter that showed up out of nowhere in Markovia. It could be related to the kids you're training."
Artemis: "I'll be careful. Thanks Will."
————————————————————————
Several hours later (Y/n) and Kelso were flying in a Blackhawk towards the DARPA labs facility in Central City. The two agents are dressed in full tactical gear and are racing to stop a break in.
(Y/n) had promised Mary and Traci that he'd teach them how to shoot properly. Zatanna was initially against it but the agent managed to convince her that the girls should be able to defend themselves without magic.
Just as (Y/n) and Zatanna were about to leave their apartment in the early morning hours, Kelso came crashing through the front door and informed (Y/n) that the Red Hood was sighted at DARPA labs.
Zatanna couldn't even get a word in before (Y/n) was fully dressed in his combat gear and running out the door with Kelso. The agent was starting to feel bad, bailing on Mary and Traci certainly wouldn't go over well with Zatanna and he was really looking forward to spending time with the group.
Suddenly (Y/n)'s phone rang and he connected it to his headset, allowing him to talk while the helicopter neared its destination.
He could instantly tell Zatanna was far from happy with him.
Zatanna: "Really? The one day I told the kids you'd be there."
(Y/n): "I'm so sorry. I'll get there as quickly as I can."
Kelso chimed in, which is something she'd quickly come to regret.
Kelso: "I know you two are raising your little family of magical students, but this is important. He'll be there as soon as he can."
Zatanna: "I know. And he can make it up by bringing you. The kids will love it."
(Y/n): "Deal."
Kelso: "Hey, wait a minute!"
Pilot: "Approaching the target building."
Zatanna: "I better let you two get to work, I'll see both of you after."
Kelso glared at (Y/n) as he ended the call and smiled.
Kelso: "I'm so getting you back for this."
(Y/n): "Oh relax, they're great kids and I love how you called them our kids."
Kelso groaned and rolled her eyes as the two agents slid open the doors and dropped the rope out.
Kelso: "Only because you two don't have any of your own yet. And when you do I get to be the babysitter."
(Y/n): "Not until you get rid of every single sharp object... and yes I mean all the knives."
Kelso: "Obviously, but I think I'd make a great babysitter."
The two agents fastroped down from the helicopter and landed on the roof of the large laboratory. As the helicopter flew off into the distance, Red Hood broke through the service entrance to the roof, stopping dead in his tracks in front of the two agents.
The assassin had upgraded gear from the League of Shadows robes Kelso previously saw him in.
(Y/n): "I'm only going to tell you this once, drop the fucking gun."
Kelso: "Fuck that!"
Kelso stepped forward and shot the Red Hood. The bullet bounced off his high tech armour but caused the assassin to crumble to the ground.
(Y/n) deployed his shield, using the sling on his rifle to position the gun on his back while he he'd the shield on one arm and held his handgun in the other hand.
Red Hood pulled out two handguns and unleashed a small hailstorm of bullets at the agents. Kelso moved behind (Y/n) and pressed up against his back while the bullets bounced off his shield.
The second Red Hood ran out of ammunition, Kelso moved away from (Y/n) and fired. Red Hood stumbled back and dove off the roof, dropping a smoke pellet to cover his escape.
The agents rushed to the edge of the roof, looking over and seeing Red Hood open a manhole cover. Before the assassin jumped down into the sewer he pulled out a remote from inside his jacket.
Kelso: "Oh fuck off."
Red Hood clicked the button on the detonator and the entire building started to explode.
(Y/n): "Run for it!"
The agents began running to the far side of the building as fast as they could, the explosion consuming the side they were on moments ago.
Before either agent could find a safe way off the roof the force of the explosion sent them flying through the air and crashing into a tree. The cluster of small branches breaking their fall and saving them from critical injuries.
Kelso cursed and groaned as she pushed herself up off the ground and looked up at the burning building. Her heart sank as she realized any evidence Red Hood may have left inside was now gone.
(Y/n): "Great... now we'll never find out what DARPA was making in that lab."
ISAC: "Hostile signal detected nearby."
Kelso: "Looks like we're going to be a little late to the training."
(Y/n): "I'm going to be a little late, you're bleeding... that's a lot of blood!"
Kelso: "What?"
(Y/n) gently pushed Kelso down and put pressure on her left arm. A small piece of shrapnel had cut her and she'd already lost a significant amount of blood.
(Y/n): "I've already called Zatanna and notified HQ, she'll get you to a hospital. It's going to be alright."
Kelso: "I know and I'm fine."
(Y/n): "Funny, I knew you'd say that."

Natalya Sokolova is riding in the back seat of a limousine, heading through downtown Central City on her way to the airport.
The Russian redhead is wearing an expensive sundress and a light jacket overtop. As the vehicle comes to a stop at a red light she takes the opportunity to fish her phone out and press a small button on her door.
Soon the small window used to communicate with her driver closes and she's left completely alone. Moments later the cryptic voice she's all too familiar with answers the phone.
Clairvoyant: "I take it everything's going according to plan."
Natalya: "Yes, the Hunter understands his assignment. Vanguard and White Knight (Kelso's call sign) were spotted in the area and should arrive any moment."
Clairvoyant: "Alani Kelso was injured fighting our assets at DARPA, Vanguard should be the only one arriving."
Natalya: "Of course, we only need him. Vanguard should be able to connect the dots enough to do exactly what we need him to, if the Hunter manages to kill the Light's new enforcer then that's just an added bonus."
Clairvoyant: "I need you in New York. Ivan Tarnako has finally arrived in the city and I want you to keep him as safe as possible in your family's penthouse."
Natalya: "It's becoming increasingly difficult to move him. Ever since we snuck him out of Azerbaijan the Division's been closing in. By the time we get him set up with all his heavy equipment they may know he's in the city."
Clairvoyant: "I'm counting on it."
————————————————————————
(Y/n) was getting close, the signal ISAC detected was right on top of Iris and Barry Allen's home. The agent raced through the neighborhood in a car he "borrowed" from the parking lot at DARPA.
Inside the Allen's home, the parents were watching their children play while the morning's GBS segment played on the news channel.
Cat Grant: "Repeating today's top story, the Justice League has announced the opening of a meta-human youth center in Taos, New Mexico. For more we now go to the League co-chairman Aquaman who has a few words to say."
The camera panned over to Kaldur who stepped up to the microphone and cleared his throat.
Aquaman: "Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Today the Justice League is pleased to announce the opening of the first meta-human youth center for children and teens victimized by meta-human trafficking. Now, please allow me to introduce the newly named director of the center, Dr. Eduardo Dorado Sr."
Dr. Eduardo walked up to the microphone and waved to the crowd.
Dr. Eduardo: "Thank you Aquaman. The youth center's end goal is to help these young people adjust to their new abilities and readjust to the world around them. There are resources here for these children. Scientists, like myself, who can help them control their conditions. Justice Leaguers donate time to help train them and youth counselors who understand exactly what they are going through. The Division has provided us with a small JTF team to help protect these young people from the monsters that wished to harm them. Our hope is a simple one, we hope to give these children and teens something that resembles their old life."
Iris sighed before turning off the tv the second G. Gordon's face appeared on screen.
Will and Raquel walked out of the kitchen bringing snacks and drinks for the kids. They were immediately swarmed by the kids and earned lots of laughter from the mothers scattered about the living room.
In the house directly across the street, (Y/n) was quietly making his way inside. He used ISAC to remotely unlock the electronic lock on the back door and entered the house as quietly as possible.
He was certain this house was the source of hostile signal. Zatanna had told him about the Allen's hosting a playdate for the children and parents of the League one night. The moment he realized how close he was to the Allen's home he knew it was about the children and spouses of the League.
ISAC detected surveillance equipment nearby. (Y/n) krept through the kitchen he eventually arrived in the living room. As he cautiously approached he heard a man speaking a foreign language. ISAC quickly identified the language as Atlantian and translated it into (Y/n)'s headset.
???: "Finally, everyone has arrived. Now they will die."
The agent's eyes widened in fear as he remembered seeing Lois Lane and her son arrive moments before he made entry into this house. He knew that he had seconds to act if he wanted to save everyone the Justice League loved.
He was about to round the corner into the living room and unleash a hail of bullets when he heard a woman's voice speak softly to the man. Her tone and words indicated that she was announcing her arrival and wasn't working with the man. (Y/n) immediately recognized the voice as Lady Shiva's.
Shiva: "I'm impressed. Look at all you've accomplished, you discovered where all the parents and children came together for their little play date, you leased the house across the street, set up wiretaps, cameras, microphones, infrared. You've truly mastered the surface world. These are useful skills, worthy of the shadows. Not to be wasted."
Ocean Master: "I am glad you approve, Lady Shiva. Now watch as I Orm, the Ocean Master, step outside and with one blast from Neptune's Trident kill all the loved ones of those who have wronged me."
Shiva: "Yes, you could do that. It's what the Light refers to as the nuclear option. But we've tried this once before, when we abducted Ms. Zatara. The result was a single man nearly wiped out the Light. We vowed to never again use the nuclear option lightly."
Ocean Master: "I WILL NOT BE DENIED MY REVENGE!"
Orm tightened his grip on the trident, the godly weapon started glowing a bright golden light as a small amount of electricity surrounded the tip of the trident. Lady Shiva stepped back and cautiously reached for her sword as Orm shifted his gaze to the window, glaring at the Allen's house across the street.
(Y/n) spun around the corner, aiming his rifle directly at the back of Orm's head. Without hesitation he pulled the trigger, the suppressed MK16 thumped softly and the bullet cleanly passed through Orm's skull.
Blood shot across the room as the banished prince of Atlantis crumbled to the ground. By the time the body landed on the carpet, Shiva had her sword out and the agent had his rifle aimed at the Light's enforcer.
(Y/n): "Don't move."
Shiva: "Vanguard, I must admit I'm surprised to see you."
(Y/n): "So you were here to protect the parents and children?"
Shiva: "Yes, the Light knows it will not survive any retaliation from the Justice League should one of our operatives be responsible for the deaths of all their loved ones."
(Y/n): "Smart, but I know it wasn't you that I traced here. You don't use high tech electronics and I was too far away to detect the surveillance equipment when I got the alert, so who did you come here with?"
Shiva gave the agent a confused look as she lowered her sword. The agent lowered his rifle and the two began comparing notes.
Shiva: "I assure you I came here alone. A larger team would risk alerting the parents across the street. I would struggle to fend off some of the superpowered parents like Rocket and Queen Mera."
(Y/n): "Then who did I...."
A half second later the Light's enforcer and the agent heard a small click from a remote. (Y/n) spun and shot the window with his rifle while running at full speed towards it. Shiva jumped out right behind him, holding the trident of Neptune. Moments later the entire living room exploded.
The small blast sent (Y/n) and Shiva crashing onto the front lawn, coming to a stop a few feet before the road. Shiva instantly pushed herself up and started running, flipping the cover up to a manhole and dropping out of sight.
(Y/n) cursed as he rolled onto his stomach while reaching for his rifle. He heard the Hunter's footsteps rapidly approaching him. He grabbed his rifle and rolled over onto his back, firing at the Hunter.
The Hunter had a ballistic shield in his hands, just like the one (Y/n) uses. The bullets bounced off the shield as the Hunter sprinted towards the agent.
The Hunter swung his axe down and knocked the MK16 right out of (Y/n)'s hands. The agent kicked the Hunter in the gut with both his feet after the swing exposed his body to the agent.
As the Hunter staggered back it gave (Y/n) enough time to push himself to his feet and deploy his own ballistic shield. He noticed the Hunter's eyes dart towards the Allen's house behind him and his heart skipped a beat.
(Y/n) forced himself to keep his gaze locked on the Hunter despite how desperately he wanted to look back at the house and insure everyone was alright.
The Hunter easily exploited his hesitation and closed the gap between them, swinging his axe at the agent who barely had enough time to duck before backing up towards the house yet again.
(Y/n) was put on the defensive, blocking and dodging the Hunter's attacks, never getting enough time to pull out his handgun. The Hunter's continued attacks pushed him all the way to the Allen's door when the Hunter lunged forward, taking a big swing at the agent.
Vanguard easily stepped to the side and the axe missed his body but cut cleanly through the front door, separating the lock and handle from the rest of the door.
The agent stumbled back through the door and was quickly pinned up against the wall by the Hunter.
The children all screamed as the sudden crash of the door breaking had ripped them all away from their movie in the living room.
Raquel: "(Y/N)?!"
(Y/n): "I'M A LITTLE BUSY!"
(Y/n) broke the hold and slammed his body into the Hunter, knocking him into the far wall. Pictures decorations fell off the wall as (Y/n) slammed into the Hunter, bashing his shield against the Hunters body and knocking the combat axe out of his hand.
(Y/n): "EVERYONE CLEAR OUT!"
The Hunter brought his shield up to protect himself and push (Y/n) away but the agent grabbed ahold of it and ripped it off his arm.
(Y/n) tossed the shield to the ground before grabbing onto the Hunter and easily throwing him to the ground.
The Hunter quickly recovered and dropped a smoke pellet, filling the hallway and living room with a thick light grey smoke.
By the time the smoke cleared the Hunter was gone and (Y/n) was leaning on the wall, catching his breath.
Raquel: "What was that?! What are you doing here?!"
(Y/n): "Kelso and I were tracking an assassin that targeted a government laboratory called DARPA labs."
Raquel: "I remember the name. That's the same company that owned the ship right? The one that made chemical weapons for Keener."
(Y/n): "Yes. We tried to arrest the assassin but he blew up the building and escaped. As we were waiting for fire and rescue to arrive ISAC got an alert. He picked up a hostile signal and I traced it to this house. It was the Hunter, he baited me in here."
Lois Lane, Queen Mera and a few of the other parents emerged from the kitchen, each with a look of horror on their face.
Will: "Why?"
(Y/n): "I don't know. Both the Hunter's and the Light knew about your little get together. Either one of them could've killed you all and we wouldn't have seen it coming."
Raquel: "My god... that's terrifying. Our kids are... they're so vulnerable."
Raquel was fighting off tears as her eyes were drawn back to the children who were just starting to stop crying.
(Y/n): "I'll make it right. I'll find a way to keep everyone safe."
Will: "How do you plan on doing that?"
(Y/n): "I need more agents."
————————————————————————
*5 hours later*
After making sure the neighborhood was secure and waiting for Barry Allen to return home, (Y/n) made his way to the zeta tube and travelled to Langley.
He didn't even bother changing out of his combat gear which earned him a few strange glances from the people he walked past.
He eventually arrived on the seventh floor and stormed past the various guards in suits until he arrived at a large double door leading into the CIA director's office.
(Y/n) threw open the doors and walked in, cutting off the director mid sentence and causing everyone in the room to look directly at him.
(Y/n): "Director, it's nice to see you."
Director: "I hope you have a good reason for barging in on my conference call with the president."
(Y/n): "I in fact, have a great reason."
The agent turned to the large tv mounted on the wall. He can see the president sitting in the Oval Office with two advisors on either side of him.
President: "Hello, Mr. (L/n). It's good to see you again. What can I do for you?"
(Y/n): "Mr. President I understand that this is a massive favour, and I assure you it is completely necessary. I wouldn't be here if I had any other options."
President: "Go ahead son, I trust you."
(Y/n): "Mr. President, I need you to fully activate the Division."
The room went completely silent with the exception of the president's advisors whispering to each other. (Y/n) held his breath, if he couldn't get what he needed then he wouldn't know what to do. This was the only plan that could work the way he wanted.
President: "Son, do you really understand what you're asking me to do?"
(Y/n): "Yes Mr. President, I do. We need the help and we can't count on the Justice League."
President: "I know you're fond of the League to say the least and I'm sorry that they've been put through political hell, but I'm just not sure I can fully activate the Division."
(Y/n): "Sir, you know I was right about the Reach. I'm trying to prevent a similar catastrophe and to do that I need more agents."
President: "Alright son, I'll see what I can do."
(Y/n): "No. Sir, with all due respect, this can't wait. We are beyond stretched to the limit. We need a full activation and we need it now."
The president sighed and then looked at both his advisors. I'm the short moment before he spoke everyone held their breath, the full nature of the situation dawning on them.
President: "Alright agent. I'll activate the entire Strategic Homeland Division. You'll get your reinforcements."
————————————————————————
Several hours later (Y/n) arrived at Washington General. He had changed into clean civilian clothes and raced to meet up with Zatanna in Kelso's room.
As he approached Kelso's room he saw Kandel standing outside pacing back and forth. The doctor was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
(Y/n) quickly went up to her and attempted to calm her down but he knew right away that she had some information that he didn't. Kelso only suffered minor injuries compared to what she's been through in the past. Something else had struck fear into the heart of Kandel.
(Y/n): "Kandel, hey, hey what's going on?"
Kandel: "Oh thank god you're here."
(Y/n): "Kelso's injuries weren't that serious. The med-team stabilized her on the helicopter; she just lost a little bit of blood. Not even half a pint. What's wrong?"
Kandel: "Zatanna and her students showed up, they're waiting for you inside. Kelso's asleep and she's fine like you said but... but about half an hour ago someone walked in. They were escorted by two guards from Cadmus."
(Y/n): "Waller?"
Kandel: "No... it's not Waller. I tried to stop him but he had a full pardon from the president a-and they haven't let anyone else enter or leave the room. (Y/n)... it's Maxwell."
(Y/n)'s eyes widened in fear. He spun around and grabbed the door handle, with one swift push he broke through the door and charged into the room.
He found Zatanna, Traci and Mary sitting down in chairs all on one side of Kelso's bed. Zatanna was fear ridden and the younger girls were starting to get scared as well.
(Y/n) unholstered his handgun and pointed it directly at the man he'd grown to hate.
Sitting in a chair on the opposite side of Kelso's bed, with two guards holding automatic weapons behind him, was the traitor Charles Maxwell.
The old man wore an expensive suit and tie. He laughed at (Y/n) as the agent surveyed the room, making sure Zatanna was unharmed before snapping his gaze back to Maxwell.
(Y/n): "You should be rotting in a frozen prison."
Maxwell: "I have friends in high places. I must say, you've done a great job at activating the Division. I saw it on the news before I got here."
(Y/n): "I'm going to give you three second to tell me what you're doing here or I'm going to shoot you."
Maxwell: "I figured you'd react this way. That's why I brought them."
Maxwell gestured to the two guards standing behind him who were now pointing their weapons at (Y/n).
(Y/n): "If you think I can't handle two Cadmus thugs before putting a bullet between your eyes a second later, then you've seriously forgotten how good I am."
Maxwell: "Of course I haven't forgotten. After all, I made you the way that you are. You're my creation as much as Felix Blake's."
(Y/n): "What do you want?"
Maxwell: "To give you a warning. Don't let your new found power go to your head."
Maxwell slowly walked around the bed, positioning himself behind Zatanna and Mary and placing a hand on their shoulders.
(Y/n): "Get your fucking hands off them!"
Maxwell did as he was ordered, the coldness of (Y/n)'s words even scaring Zatanna who stayed fear ridden in her seat.
Maxwell: "With all your power you're still vulnerable. It only takes one person with half a brain to rip everything away from you. Your precious little witch and her students. I bet the two of you see them as children. Oh and then there's stubborn and sarcastic Alani Kelso. You broke the first time she was taken from you, I wonder what will happen when you lose all of them."
(Y/n): "That's never going to happen, I won't let it."
Maxwell: "You're missing the point! You don't have a choice, they will blindside you! You're not good enough to stop it, you, Kelso, you'll never be good enough. Because you don't do what I did. You pretend you'll go all the way to complete a mission but you and I know the truth. You'll sacrifice yourself to save any one of your friends. If you want to save this sorry excuse for a family, you need to learn how to sacrifice the pawns you call friends."
(Y/n): "You know... you know what's coming don't you?"
Maxwell: "Of course I do. You think it was a coincidence that the "Clairvoyant" popped up the second you killed Keener and locked me up? I bet you've been piecing this puzzle together for months. Getting led blindly into an ambush by your intel even though it seemed rock solid, agents of all ranks disappearing at an alarming rate, not dead, just missing, off the grid. Throw in the Hunters, who you've been blindly fighting without taking a step back to think about why they show up when they do."
(Y/n): "You think I haven't been trying to figure that out? They don't exactly leave clues for me to follow."
Maxwell: "Yes, they do. Just not the kind you're used to looking for. The clues are in their appearances. Each time the Hunters have made an appearance it's been carefully calculated by the Clairvoyant. They set certain events up so they play out exactly like the Clairvoyant wants, or they sabotage something the Clairvoyant thinks will benefit his opponents. They manipulate people into acting in the Clairvoyant's interest."
(Y/n): "You've manipulated me since the day we met. You worked with Felix Blake to steal my childhood and then put me through what can generously be described as torture. After all that you sold out the Division to a maniac and tried to have me killed. Do you honestly expect me to believe a word you say?"
Maxwell slowly walked up to (Y/n), standing beside the agent and taking in a deep breath.
Maxwell: "Now you're getting it. You can't trust anyone. You're alone, you can't even trust ISAC. But I bet you already figured that out. False readings from him, he'll confirm something that hasn't actually happened, like your comms in Markovia. I bet you rationalized it as him simply needing a reboot or a systems check. But every time you try to fix him you never find anything wrong. That's because he was built that way, he's functioning properly. He's compromised, being used by the people you're after and you know it."
(Y/n): "Go to hell."
Maxwell: "Hmm. Well, you're not completely alone. He gave it to you didn't he? Keener's network. You want something you can trust, you want to stop the Clairvoyant and save your friends. Then use the weapon he gave you. You'd be unstoppable. An AI that can hack into anything, zero restrictions, zero limitations. It will lead you to all of Keener's hidden safe houses. You'll never have to rely on the Division ever again."
(Y/n): "Get out."
Maxwell hummed in response before walking out with his guards close behind him.
The second the door shut Zatanna jumped out of her chair and hugged (Y/n).
Zatanna: "I'm so sorry. He said if we didn't sit still he'd have us arrested. He has a full pardon and is back in the CIA."
(Y/n): "It's alright. I'm sorry you had to hear all that."
Zatanna: "I just wish you told me sooner. How bad is it?"
(Y/n): "That's the thing, I don't really know."
Zatanna tightened her hug in response and (Y/n) submitted to it, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her in as much as he could.
Mary and Traci finally stood up, each shaking but quickly composing themselves when their mentors turned to look at them.
Mary: "Y-you have a terrifying job."
(Y/n) softly smiled before motioning for the girls to join their hug.
(Y/n): "I know, but I promise I'll keep you safe. Come here."
Mary and Traci quickly joined the hug. Zatanna smiled as she and (Y/n) held the girls as tightly as they could.
Kelso: "Well... isn't that the sweetest thing."
The group quickly broke their hug and awkwardly laughed before dispersing to take their seats around Kelso's bed.
Kelso: "I've been awake for the past five minutes. I heard everything. Kid, I promise we'll find a way to stop the Clairvoyant and get Maxwell thrown back in the Ice Box."
(Y/n): "I know we will. Now, I'm ordering you to stay with Kandel at her place for the next few days. I want you fully recovered before we get back to work."
Kelso: "K-kid listen here you little shi-"
Kandel: "I've already got everything set up. We will leave in an hour once my shift is over."
Kelso's face went white for a brief moment before a small hint of red found its way to the experienced agent's face.
Kandel: "Aww you poor thing, you're all red in the face. Do you have a fever?"
(Y/n): "She's just flustered. She'll get over it."
Kelso: "Kid I swear to god I'm going to get you back for this sh-MHMMM!"
Kandel leaned down and smashed her lips against Kelso's. The injured agent was caught briefly off guard before melting into the moment and leaning back down into the bed.
Zatanna and (Y/n) pulled Mary and Traci out of the room whilst scolding the girls for staring with their jaws wide open.
Mary: "Sorry, it's just that caught me completely off guard."
(Y/n): "It's fine, I can't remember the last time I saw Kelso kiss someone so we should give her some privacy."
Zatanna: "Well, it's getting late. Why don't we get you two home and then pick up again tomorrow."
Traci: "Alright."
The group made their way to the basement and accessed the hidden zeta tube. Moments after Traci stepped through, Mary stopped and faced her mentors.
Mary: "(Y/n)... a-are you sure you're alright? I have plenty of room a-and yeah I know it's a foster home but we could make it work. You know... if you two aren't safe at your apartment."
(Y/n): "Thank you Mary, but we'll be okay. We'll see you tomorrow."
Mary waved goodbye before stepping into the zeta tube and disappearing.
A few minutes later, Zatanna and (Y/n) were walking into their apartment. After greeting Titan who met them at the door, the pair moved to the couch and sat down.
Zatanna: "You know, Mary thinks of us as her family. She doesn't have much of one at her home in Fawcett City."
(Y/n): "I know... you've done an amazing job teaching her."
Zatanna: "She's got to accept that some things are beyond her control. Her biggest fear is letting go."
(Y/n): "I'm sure she'll grow up to be a great hero. After all, she's got the best mentor."
(Y/n) leaned back on the couch and pulled Zatanna on top of him. The pair quickly locked lips as the agent's hands wrapped around Zatanna's waist. She cupped (Y/n)'s face and took control of the kiss, moaning softly into his mouth as she controlled his movement. When she finally broke the kiss for air she stared down at her agent, biting her lower lip and pushing herself up to straddle him.
(Y/n) cleared his throat as a hint of red found its way to his face. Zatanna paid no attention to his flustered state. She was far too busy positioning herself on his crotch and undressing him with her eyes.
Zatanna: "You've had a long day, working with Kelso, protecting the families of our friends and colleagues and then after all that... finding that monster in Kelso's hospital room with a full pardon."
(Y/n) sighed and let all the stress slip away as Zatanna ran her hands under his shirt. Feeling his chest and pushing it up to his neck.
Zatanna: "Evomer eht trihs."
(Y/n)'s shirt suddenly split into a hundred small strands and flew a few feet away before reassembling mid air and falling to the floor.
Zatanna: "You deserve a reward. Lay still and don't move."
Zatanna tossed off her magicians jacket and slowly started undoing the buttons on her white shirt. As she exposed her expensive bra and chest (Y/n) couldn't help but bring his hands up to her hips.
Zatanna tossed her white shirt carelessly across the living room. (Y/n)'s gaze drifted down to Zatanna's breasts before snapping back up to her eyes.
The magician giggled as her lover struggled to find his words. Zatanna gently grabbed (Y/n)'s hands, pulling them off her hips and positioning them above his head
(Y/n): "Zee... I-"
Zatanna gently placed her finger on (Y/n)'s lips, silencing the agent and further exciting herself.
Zatanna: "Shhh. Good boy."
Zatanna lowered herself down, her chest pressing against (Y/n)'s. She leaned in, whispering directly into his ear.
Zatanna: "You did so good. You're my hero."
Zatanna cupped (Y/n)'s face once again before gently kissing him. A stress filled groan slipped out of the agent's mouth before it was muffled by Zatanna's pleasure filled moan.

Victor Stone, high school athlete and star football player. The teen is furious with his father, head of R&D at S.T.A.R labs Detroit, Silas Stone.
Silas just received a Father Box from Hal Jordan. The Green Lantern dropped off the Apokoliptian living computer at the S.T.A.R labs facility.
The Justice League has tasked Silas with finding out everything he can about the Father Box. The Justice League knows it's a living computer, similar to a Mother Box, but nothing passed that.
Justice Leaguers fighting the forces of Apokolips in deep space have observed Father Box's healing and repairing Apokolips' forces. They hope to uncover a way to neutralize Father Boxes on the battlefield, denying Apokolips a quick and easy way to withdraw their forces from battle.
Green Lantern: "Be careful Silas, we don't know much about Father Boxes. Tread lightly, they appear to be pure evil."
Silas: "Technology is not good or evil. Technology is neutral, it is how one uses it."
Green Lantern sighed as the scientist grabbed the Father Box and placed it in a secure briefcase for transporting.
Green Lantern: "Just be careful."
Silas watched Green Lantern fly away before turning and beginning the short walk back inside the building just as Victor came into view.
Victor: "DAD!"
Silas continued walking without acknowledging his son. Victor sped up, racing to catch up with his dad and just squeezing into the facility before the door snapped shut.
Victor: "I ask you to come to one game! One game! And you still pick your work over me yet again!"
Silas: "You know this is important. I'll be at the next one."
Victor: "You said that about this one! And the one before that! You never show! You're missing my whole life, AND YOU DON'T EVEN CARE!"
As Victor and Silas moved further into the facility they were completely unaware that the electronic lock on the main door failed to lock. Seconds after the pair disappeared around the corner the front door slowly opened.
A moment later a Hunter slowly walked through the door, rifle raised and axe attached to his belt.
