With The Gingers

-AAAA I don't know Flash rogues! I'm sorry!-
"They're so adorable!" Iris squealed, Wally had been paired up with M'gann and boy were the two of them ADORABLE! They were precious!
"I know." Barry replied, the two kids were watching Paw Patrol and playing pretend-paw patrol on the carpet. He entered the living room, watching the little children rolling around on the rug, barking. "Do you guys want a snack?"
"Yeah!" Wally shouted.
"Yes please!" M'gann grinned up at the speedster.
"Alright, we'll get you a snack." Barry agreed. "Do you guys want to make your own paw patrol fort?"
The kids cheered with excitement.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barry had never seen more than about half an episode of Paw Patrol, it wasn't airing when Wally was little. But now that Wally was in its age demographic, he'd watched about eight episodes straight.
The speedster was lying on his back on the carpet, under the best pillow-fort Wally and M'gann had ever made. He and the kids were staring at the tv or playing and snacking on crackers, celery, and those disgustingly delicious sugar cookies from the grocery store.
The TV turned off.
"HEY! Both the speedsters and the Martian chorused.
Iris was grinning at the three, crouched by the door of their fortress-of-friendship with the remote. "Lauren's going into labor, I need to cover for her."
"Isn't she on at eight?" Barry asked.
"Seven-thirty, but they wanna run things with me a few times first." Iris told her husband.
"You're going?" Wally asked.
She crawled into their fort a little, already changed into professional wear, and gave her little nephew a hug. "I won't be back until after bedtime, but Uncle Barry will heat up dinner and tuck you in. I'll see you in the morning." She kissed his head through the scruffy red hair. "Mwah! I love you."
"I love you." He replied.
Iris tapped the tip of the young Martian's nose. "If you need help, Barry can call your uncle, okay? Have a good night."
Barry kissed his wife goodbye, and was left alone for child-care.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barry checked things off his mental checklist: Dinner? Check. letting them burn off energy in the back yard? Check. Helping the kids brush their teeth? Check.
He was worried he'd forgotten something, but couldn't think what. He'd gotten Wally changed into a pullup, one of his teen-sized flash shirts (all his toddler shirts were in the wash) tucked into pyjama shorts. M'gann had shifted herself into pink overalls and a soft yellow sweater.
Barry wrangled the kiddies into bed and tucked Wally's duvet up to their chins; they were small, so they could both sleep comfortably on his nephew's bed.
"Story!" Wally ordered. slapping his fists on the mattress. "Bedtime Story!"
"Uh, okay...." Barry couldn't think of something good off the top of his head and teenage Wally's bookshelf wasn't exactly flush with story books. "Do you want a story M'gann."
"Yes." She grinned. "Please?"
"Yeah, sure, give me one minute." Barry sped from the room, pulling down the ladder to the attic crawlspace. He waded back a little and opened a few boxes with Wally's name on them, hoping to find an old Berenstain Bears book or something.
After a few boxes, he struck gold. He grabbed the first picture book he saw, yelped, brushed the spider off, and returned down the ladder to Wally's Bedroom.
Wally had crawled out of bed, but quickly returned when he saw his uncle. "What story is it?"
Barry dusted off the cover and showed them:The Sleep Book by Dr. Seuss. Both Children approved, so Barry sat by them on the bed, and started reading.
"The news just came in from the County of Kleck, that a very small bug by the name of Van Vleck is yawning so wide..."
There was a buzz and a muffled chime. Barry checked his cell. "Now? C'mon! I'm babysitting, Guys!" He shoved his phone back in his pocket.
"What?" Wally asked
"Heyy..." Barry told the kiddies. "Wally I need you to be a big boy for a few minutes, okay?" The three year old nodded. "M'gann? Can you be a big Gir-" He stopped himself. "...Can you be a big Martian for a for me?"
"Okay." She muttered.
"Good...M'gann. Good M'gann." He said, trying to be as Gender inclusive as he could. He passed them the story book. "I'll be back soon, stay put, okay?"
"Where are you going?" Wally asked, kicking out of his bedcovers, but Barry had already sped from the room.
Wally ran after his uncle, grabbing the too-big goggles.
"WALLY WAIT!" M'gann launched off the bed after him. Wally had to stop running at the front door since he couldn't reach the latch. M'gann floated up and opened the door for him, she grabbed the shoulder of Wally's pyjama shirt, gripping on for dear life as the tiny speedster tore after Flash's tracks.
The Redhead stumbled to a halt, but not before slamming into something. The kids collapsed to the concrete. Wally's oversized goggles slipped down his face as he looked up at the other side of their collision.
"...Uncle Barry?"
But it wasn't. They'd ran into this guy, on the younger side, in a weird costume M'gann didn't recognize.
She clutched onto Wally, not sure whether she was protecting him, or he was protecting her.
The young man turned to her, face lighting up. "Green girl!" M'gann squeezed the other redhead, gritting her eyes closed. "HARTLY! GREEN GIRL."
"Goddamn it James, Come on! We're playing with Flasher, Remember?"
"No fun. He didn't take Baby Flash." The young guy frowned.
Wally's eyes widened a little. "TRICKSTER!" He shouted.
The guy stared back at them for a second, then he slid aside as a red shape shot past. He stared at Wally, wondering more about where he knew this boy from, than why two toddlers had ran into the road mid-fight.
He noticed the red hair and goggles."...Baby Flash?"
"Who's that?" M'gann whispered, still clinging to her friend.
"Trickster!" Wally told her desperately. "'nd Pied Piper!" M'gann, who didn't have the familiarity with patrolling or Central rogues that he did. She started getting quite scared, tears edging the corners of her eyes. All she knew was that Trickster and Pied Piper were bad guys.
"It's Baby Fash! He's little! He's with the Green girl"
"What?" Piper turned to them from where he'd been; holding off Flash on his own, and saw what the other Rogue was saying. He tagged out and ran to the scared children
The guy swept Wally off the asphalt. M'gann panicked and screamed. Cold held hid gun loosely, waving to his opponent. "Wait." He called to Flash. "Time out!"
Barry stalled a little, he usually gave his rogues some leeway on quiet nights. "What?"
"I've got something for you." He gestured to the tot under his arm.
"UNCLE B!"
Barry was there in a second. He snatched away the three-year-old. "What are you doing? I told you to stay put!"
"Kid Flash helps!"
"Okay, uhm, you can't help with this one..." Barry looked down to see that the Martian child had latched onto his leg, crying a little. "You okay, kid?" She nodded shakily, reassured now that an adult was there.
"We're heroes!" Wally told his uncle.
"I know, bud, let's just..." He set Wally on the side walk, pulling M'gann up next to him. "You guys can watch while I handle this."
"Mkay." Wally relented, it was quite chilly now that the sun was setting. He and M'gann huddled together for warmth as Flash did his thing.
"Why is flash so nice to the bad guys?" M'gann asked.
Wally bounced in place for warmth. "They aren't mean. They're just bad."
"Oh." M'gann didn't understand, but Wally had no more information to share. She hugged him for his safety (He was a toddler, after all), and hers (These bad guys seemed to like him, maybe they wouldn't hurt her).
"BABY FLASH."
"James. NOT NOW!" Pied Piper exclaimed.
M'gann squealed as the younger rogue ran to them. She hugged Wally against her and shut her eyes tight, waiting for something bad to happen. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes a little.
She shrieked. Trickster's face was inches from hers. But the rogue also looked surprised and confused. It took both of them too long to realize what was happening. M'gann had lifted their accoster several feet off the ground and upside down.
The Martian panicked, she screamed again, gripping Wally. She wanted to go home!
There was a thwack as her telekinesis dropped the guy, inches from landing on them.
Flash apparently decided that he'd done there minimum, and also he didn't want the kids' presence to be put on the news. Iris would kill him if he let them out while Flash was fighting crime.
"Uncle B!" Wally bounced. His uncle scooped him up protectively.
"I got you, Kid, I got you. We're gonna, uh... let's get you guys home." Barry wasn't sure how to get both home at once. He eventually decided to have M'gann piggy-back and hold Wally against his chest, since he was more fragile.
He didn't get a chance to change before returning to the house. So he took the kiddies inside as the Flash, tucking them into bed again.
"I'm thirsty." Wally told his uncle. Barry got them both small cups of water so they wouldn't spill. He gave the duo about five minutes to drink their water and use the toilet.
"Alright. Bedtime." He told them.
"No!" Wally protested. "Story!"
"You didn't finish!" M'gann said.
Barry sighed, pushing back his mask. "Okay, but you gotta go to sleep right after..." He opened the book again.
"The news just came in from the County of Kleck, that a very small bug by the name of Van Vleck is yawning so wide you can look down his neck. This may not seem very important, I know. But it is. So I'm bothering telling you so.."
He continued on, turning the page and letting the kids see the pictures.
Barry finished the story, and stared at the last page for a little. He remembered reading this a lot when Wally was little... The speedster set it down, and turned to the kids.
The little friends were buried under the duvet, snuggled together in their sleep. He made sure they wouldn't roll off the mattress, and crept to the door.
Barry snapped off the lights and looked back at them. M'gann was just shifting into her White-Martian form, but neither of the toddlers woke up, they were still sleeping peacefully.
Barry gave them another long, affectionate look and shut the door.
