Chapter 64

Life was rough, tortuous even for some people. Today was another one of those nights for the poor kid as he tossed and turned in that large empty bed of his. It was late - by the looks of it already past midnight. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I promise to do it right." he whispered, his fingers curled into the sheets in a sort of death grip. It was like those blankets were the only thing tethering him to reality.

Sometimes while he was asleep he would scratch at his skin so hard it would draw blood. "Please don't, I'm sorry." he pleaded quietly before beginning to thrash around underneath the covers. When his eyes shot open he sat up breathing heavily as he wearily looked around. The large room was dark and devoid of anyone who would wish to hurt him. The window to her bedroom opened as the weight on the bed shifted.

Her eyes fluttered open as she sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. It was early, too early to be awake. Although she was in an apartment building the boy sitting on the edge of her bed found ways inside. "Damian?" she whispered as her eyes tried to focus in the dark. Everyone was different, she knew from first-hand experience, but Damian was something else.

There was a mystery to him that she couldn't quite ever figure out. When she reached out to tap his shoulder he flinched causing her to pull her hand back. Her parent's were in bed so she couldn't be too loud. Instead she climbed out from under the warm covers and crawled over to sit next to the boy. They sat in silence for the longest time just listening to the city roaring outside of the open window. Mar'i still had no idea how he managed to get in through there.

Finally, he managed to speak a few words, "Promise me you'll never leave me." he whispered in a stuffy voice. It sounded like he had been crying. A small smile managed to form against her lips as she grabbed his hand. "I can't leave you, just like you can't leave me. We're going to be together forever." she whispered before giggling sweetly.

Mar'i Grayson definitely was a treasure and for the first time in a long time he trusted her. She would've asked him why he was crying but she knew to avoid that subject. Damian was quite defensive when it came to anything that involved his own vulnerability. "Do you - do you trust me?" he asked turning his head to meet her tired gaze.

"Of course I do Damian, I love you, you're my best friend." she said in a hushed voice before pulling him into a side hug.

Some children experience the worst of the worst and it's horrible. Damian knew just how cruel the world could really be. People like the girl hugging him were one of the rare specialties. You either find them when you're at your lowest or they come to you later in life to help mend what is still healing. "I'm pretty sure Dad won't mind you staying over." she said as he nodded beginning to climb off of her bed.

"Where are you going? Clearly you had a bad dream and when I have a bad dream I head to my mum and dad's room. So you're going to stay right here." she said grabbing his hand and tugging him back onto the bed.

By the next morning when Zatanna came to wake her daughter up she saw the two kids fast asleep on opposite end's of the bed. The young woman simply smiled to herself and closed the door behind her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today was the day of the track team tryouts and like hell he was going to miss it. Artemis was already in the kitchen sipping a mug of coffee when he woke up. "Ready lover boy?" she asked in a teasing tone as he groaned and shuffled into the kitchen. A tired kiss was pressed to the side of her head before he grabbed the mug of coffee resting on the counter. It was still warm when he took a sip of the liquid energy.
After the mug of coffee was finished - the bitter yet satisfying taste lingering in his mouth - he pulled on his running shoes and whispered some encouraging words to himself. The track team in high school was simple and it seemed like a millennia ago. There was no doubt that the best of the best were trying out now. Surely he wouldn't get a spot on the team. "You worry too much" Artemis said, a smile gracing her lips as she pressed a kiss to his cheek.
Their dog came bounding up to them and began rubbing his face at their feet. "Oh yes I love you too" Artemis said playfully as she leaned down to pet the energetic hound. They left minutes after and headed to the university. The air was crisp and made her mouth cold and dry every time she breathed in. His hand found hers as they walked through the campus, Artemis laced their fingers together and smiled to herself.
Wally was one of the greatest things that her sad life had gifted her. The track was already filled with a plethora of other students all eager and ready to run. It was still quite early in the morning, the sun had barely made it over the tops of the building's surrounding them. "Maybe we should just go, I can take you to that café you like huh?" Wally asked raising his brows as he turned to face her.
His girlfriend took his face in her hands and shook her head. "Wallace West you are going to do this and you're going to do this now. Even if there are other guy's faster than you so what? You're Wally-fucking-West you can do this" she said as he as he took a deep breath and smiled.
"Yeah I'm Wally-fucking-West" he said to himself before grinning and kissing her.
The kiss was unexpected and breathtaking, everything she expected from the cocky redhead. She watched him jog over and line up with the rest of the participants. The coach explained the rules to them while she sat on the bleachers watching patiently. When a bell was rung all of the participants raced off. Wally launched himself as if he had just been shot out of a gun.
She shouted and cheered as she watched him with a proud smile stuck to her face. For a moment she felt a spark of nervousness start up in her stomach when she saw a guy closing the gap between Wally and the rest of the participants. "Go Wally! You can do it!" she yelled as loud as she could. However Wally indeed came in first as he tried to slow his pace.
Artemis hopped down off of the bleachers and stood with open arms only to be picked up off of the ground. He held onto her tightly and swung her around as he laughed. "I told you you could do it" she said when he finally placed her back on her feet. The sweat on his face made him glisten in the morning sun as she stared up at him. "Never had any doubt" he said draping his arm around her shoulders.
The coach informed them that the list would be posted in the front foyer of the main building in a couple of days. It was glaringly obvious who would be first pick, Wally was the fastest. "What class do you have?" he asked as they walked through the small park. The dew covering the frozen grass made the tips of their shoes damp and cold. "My writing class, a reporter is coming to talk to us" she said as he smiled down at her fondly.
There was a time where she would try to bite his head off any chance she could get. He never would've imagined being with her when he was in high school. "Come on why don't you skip it?" he asked as she let out a sigh and shook her head with a sarcastic remark on the tip of her tongue. Instead she stopped and turned to face him, her fingers curling around the collar of his jacket. "Don't you have an anatomy class to get to?" she asked as his eyes widened at the sudden realization.
"Oh shit, thanks" he said before racing past her.
He stopped a couple feet away and turned quickly to look back at her. "I'll see you later love you!" he yelled as loud as he could. The people around them shifted their gazes to look at her, some of them even giggling. Artemis's cheeks flushed a light shade of red as she shoved her hands into her pockets and hurried off to the building her class was in.
Conner had a spring in his step as he hurried down the sidewalk and into a nearby flower shop. He was going to take Wendy on a surprise date tonight. There was a new restaurant that had opened that she wanted to try out, he made reservations for the two of them later on tonight. "How can I help you?" a perky woman asked as she leaned up from fixing a bouquet of flowers. "I'm just looking right now, thanks" he said as she kindly nodded and went back to her work.
As he browsed all of the different types of flowers he heard someone sneeze. He turned his head to see a redheaded woman smelling a bouquet of daisies and tulips. The woman was dressed in a lab coat, a pair of black square rimmed glasses sitting on the bridge of her nose, she smiled faintly at the flowers. "Are they for someone or are you just looking?" he asked out of curiosity. The woman turned to look at him, the nametag on her white lab coat said 'Pamela Isley'. "They're for my...girlfriend" she hesitated for a moment when she spoke.
"I'm trying to surprise my girlfriend as well I just don't know what to get her" he said sheepishly as he scratched the back of his neck and looked away embarrassed.
The fact that he didn't know Wendy's favourite flower irked him. Perhaps he wasn't as good a boyfriend as he thought he was? "Get the roses, they symbolize love" the woman said as he nodded and picked out the best bouquet he could find. When he turned back to thank the woman she was already leaving the flower shop with her bouquet in hand and a smile on her face.
Conner took the woman's advice and bought the bouquet of bright red roses. Apart of him felt giddy just thinking about how happy his girlfriend would be. He would do anything to see her smile and the sparkle in her eyes. Wendy was taking the bus home today, her car was broken down and was scheduled to go into the shop that weekend.
The bright blue sky was fading into a warm orange behind the buildings as the sun began its descent. He stood in front of a store window and fixed his hair in the reflection before smiling to himself. The bouquet had yet to wilt, fortunately he hadn't managed to kill them yet. People were brushing past him on the sidewalk as he made his way towards the bus stop. Conner was planning on surprising her and taking her to the restaurant right after.
Across the street he saw that the bus had just driven off revealing an oblivious Wendy Harris and a few other fellow pedestrians. He stood on the opposite side of the street and tried hard not to grin like an idiot. When she looked up briefly it was hard to miss the tall, dark, and handsome man holding a bouquet of roses across the street. Her lips curled up into a small smile as she looked both ways before beginning to jog across the street.
Police sirens were heard in the distance but when weren't they? Conner was about to step off of the curb to greet her when a car went barreling in front of him. One moment Wendy was there and the next moment she was lying a few feet away on the road. A couple police vehicles stopped, officers getting out to run towards the car that had now crashed into a nearby light post.
The grin on his face fell into a startled and scared look as the bouquet of roses fell out of his hands and onto the pavement. There were a rush of loud noises and fear hitting him all at once. She needed to be okay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The handle on the apartment doorway turned slowly before being pushed open as quietly as possible. It was late, past midnight and he didn't wish to wake anyone up. His daughter was bound to be in bed already and Zatanna was nowhere to be seen so he assumed she was asleep as well. Work was stressful, he'd been shot at several times already today.

It wasn't something to be proud of and if he were honest it sort of scared him. Ever since he was a child he dreamt of joining the police force, he loved his job but that didn't mean it scared him sometimes. He drifted into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator to see a container of soup with a note taped to the lid. The container was opened and the note was pulled off as his tired eyes glanced over it.

'Mar'i and I made soup for dinner, chicken noodle your favourite -Zee xxx'

The container slowly went in circles around the microwave as he listened to the low buzzing of the machine. His mind was blank, tired and empty all at once. There was a hostage situation at a bakery earlier that night and the criminal managed to take a little girl and drive off with her. A couple other officer's pursued the vehicle but he stayed behind to take statements from the hostages.

When he arrived back at the station he had learned that the criminal's car ended up hitting a pedestrian before being sent crashing into a light post. The little girl was alright but he was told that the pedestrian died upon impact. During that time he thought about his daughter. If that was Mar'i in that vehicle with that criminal he wouldn't know what to do. The loud beeping from the microwave snapped him out of his thoughtful gaze.

He knew how the girls parent's felt, after all Mar'i had been taken once before as well. An hour past as he finally meandered his way down the hallway to his bedroom. The moonlight streaming in through the curtains made the woman sleeping in his bed glow. For a moment he lingered in the doorway in awe of her. Without Zatanna he would've probably died by now.

His little family was the only thing keeping him from tearing himself apart. The weight in the bed shifted as she yawned and turned around to face him. Bright blue, tired eyes stared at him as she gave him a faint smile. "Are you okay? You look a little shaken" she whispered as she reached forward to glide the palm of her hand across his cheek. His arms snaked around her waist and pulled her close into his embrace.

She let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding and snuggled closer into him. The scent of vanilla and lavender radiated off of her, she always smelt so wonderful. "I'm fine, we're fine. I love you, you know that right?" he whispered into her hair as she slowly nodded her head against his chest. "I know, I do too" she whispered back before closing her tired eyes.

Holding her in his arms made some of the fears and stress melt away almost instantly. However there were still parts of him that were shaken up. But at that point in time he decided to not dwell on it any further and at least try to get three hours of sleep. Lord only knows he needed the rest.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
People were buzzing around them - probably on the same coffee high as they were at the moment. It was early in the morning, the sun had barely grazed the horizon yet, but they were out shopping. A children's store to be exact and to say that her husband wasn't excited was an understatement. There was barely even a bump or physical proof that she was pregnant yet but he wanted to be prepared.
She lazily leaned against the shopping cart and watched as he looked at all of the different kinds of soothers there were. The young man was like a kid in a candy store, if a child was allowed in said sweets store at one in the morning. A yawn escaped her lips as she blinked the sleep out of her eyes and continued to watch him. There just seemed to be so much life sparking from within him.
The way he smiled was so much brighter, she never knew why she worried about telling him in the first place. They went down the next aisle and Kaldur's features immediately softened into a warm yet reminiscent smile. "My love wouldn't this be great in the nursery?" he asked pulling down the box and setting it on the edge of the cart. It was a fish mobile and her heart began to sing when she saw it.
The sea always reminded her of home and where she first met him. The ocean and all of its creatures also meant a lot to Kaldur, he loved the sea. It was a passion of his ever since he was a mere toddler. "It's perfect" she said almost breathlessly. If it wasn't so early in the morning she would've been tearing up. They grabbed a couple more thing's that they found adorable before heading to the checkout.
Luckily this store was open for twenty-four hours otherwise they would be lying in bed doing nothing. The man at the register flashed them a welcoming yet tired smile. "Did you find everything okay?" he asked while scanning the few items that they had. The two of them nodded, Roquette was snuggled into her husband's side as she watched all of the items be bagged. "The total is one-eleven. Cash, debit, or credit?" the cashier asked.
Although the price was more than the two of them expected Kaldur didn't hesitate to pull out his debit card. "I'm sorry sir but it's bringing up an error, can you try it again?" the cashier asked as Kaldur nodded and focused his attention on the card machine. After a few more tries the card was still being denied, both of them didn't know why it was happening to them.
Kaldur ended up dishing out the cash from his wallet before picking up the bags and receiving the receipt before they both left. "That was strange" Kaldur mumbled as they walked out into the parking lot. There was a chill to the air that made her shiver even with the layers of clothes she was wearing. "It was probably a machine error, half of those thing's don't work in these damn stores anyways" she said to reassure him as they reached their car.
Questions were still buzzing through his mind about what had happened but every worry seemed to vanish when she grabbed his hands. Her thumbs brushed across his skin in a comforting manner as she looked up at him. "Everything will be alright Kal, it always is" she said before pressing a quick kiss to his lips for reassurance. He believed her, after all he had as much faith in her than he had in the entire world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There were several classes she had today, all of them she didn't wish to attend. That involved getting out of her nice warm and comfy bed and to head out into the cold world. Overnight she had received a few texts from her friend Peggy. They were going to meet up for breakfast this morning. So when she heard the knocking at her dorm room door she wasn't surprised by who was behind it. "Hey Peggy just give me a - Conner?" she asked, this was definitely surprising.

He stood there for a moment, his voice devoid of all expression and blue eyes as bloodshot from all the tears he must've shed. Megan knew that look all too well as she had had that very same expression a multitude of times. "Come in" she said quietly as she moved out of the way to let him step inside. Her dorm room wasn't exactly the cleanest, then again this was a dorm room.

Megan wasn't known for her messiness but lately school had been kind of hectic. Becoming a chef was harder than she imagined it to be. His arms wrapped around her as he pulled her into a tight embrace. She felt his body shake as his sobs wracked his entire body. "Conner what happened?" she whispered while hugging him just as tightly as he did to her.

There wasn't much he could say with the current state he was in. An hour soon past and now he sat on her desk chair, dead silent and evidently upset. Megan sat on her bed cross legged as she watched him silently. There was so much she could say but the look in her eyes told her it was best to stay quiet. "Wendy she's um - she's dead" he said before dragging his hand down his face.

Apart of her was shocked and saddened at the same time. Megan never hated Wendy, she was nice and Conner deserved a girl like her. He didn't deserve some reckless, broken, tipsy redhead like herself. Megan was a mess and it didn't take a fool to see it. Both of them at that moment were utter messes at this point in time. There was a sudden knock at her door as she stood up and walked over. "Hey Meg I'm -" Peggy was cut short when she saw the look on her friend's face.

"I won't explain it now but I'll see you later, okay?" she said as Peggy nodded understanding completely.

Once she closed the door and turned around she could see Conner's heartbroken blue eyes on her. It was almost as if he were looking for some sort of guidance. There weren't words to describe what she was feeling. Mostly this was strange, having him in her dorm room again felt nostalgic. She strode over and perched herself on top of her desk before taking his hand in hers. It was somewhat of a friendly gesture, he tightened his grip ever so slightly on her hand.

One thing Megan Morse was good at was comforting those who needed. But when she needed it most almost no one was ever there for her. However she would help her friend's no matter what, after all they were her family. "I would tell you that it's going to be okay," she stole a glance at him, he was staring at the ground now. "-but that's a lie. It's going to hurt a lot for a long while but eventually it will only become an aching pain" she spoke softly, her words being carried through the silence.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The bouquet of daises and tulips had been sitting in a blue glass vase for a day now. Pamela had the day off and so far she spent the early morning pacing back and forth. Her cellphone was idle on the counter next to the vase, her eyes occasionally glanced over at it nervously. The botanist was confident, beautiful, and not to mention brilliant. There was a certain ex-psychiatrist she wanted to ring up but whenever she went to call she would hang up within the first ring.
If anyone told her she was nervous she would roll her eyes and fully deny it. However when her eyes flitted over to the bouquet and cellphone her stomach fluttered. It was a weekday, Harley was probably working anyways. The stubborn blonde woman never wanted any help with money no matter how much Pamela offered to help.
It wouldn't make Pamela any less proud of her than she already was, sometimes it was just nice to receive a helping a hand. She knew of what her best friend and her daughter went through awhile ago. Harley's ex wasn't exactly the perfect man. He was a psychotic murderer, not to mention abusive, who had evaded prison a number of times. She was relieved when Harley and Melody escaped when they did.
The man used a wedding dress store as a cover, he was a criminal that enjoyed people's pain. Eventually Pamela picked up her phone and dialed her friend's number, apart of her hoped she wouldn't pick up. "Hiya Red, what's up?" the familiar upbeat and perky voice asked. She could hear music and voices chattering in the background. "Harleen I was wondering if you and Melody would like to come over to stay the night?" she was rather direct and although her voice was calm her nerves were on fire.
The silence that came after that made her want to hang up and hide in a closest, perhaps even in a self dug hole. "Sure thing Red, it's a date!" Harley exclaimed joyously. A rush of relief washed over her as she nodded and smiled to herself. "I'll pick you two up this evening. While your at it you should quit your second job" Pamela said partially joking and partially serious.
"Y'know I can't Red" the woman replied with a sigh.
Their conversation ended soon after when Harley had to get back to work. Pamela ended up saying that she would pick Melody up when she was done school and Harley when she was finished work. She drove down from her house and into Gotham hours later to pick up Melody from class. Pamela leaned against the hood of her car at the pick up zone. She was still surprised that Melody was enrolled in Gotham Academy.
This was one of the most prestigious school's in Gotham. It went from kindergarten all the way through high school. She blew hot air against her cold hands when she saw Melody walking next to two other kids. The girl's pigtails swayed back and forth as she walked and chatted to the taller girl next to her. "Ivy!" the kids' conversation abruptly ended when Melody ran towards her and hugged her waist. "Hello flower" Pamela greeted with a smile.
The two kid's walked up to her and Melody, a boy and a girl both dark haired and wearing sunglasses. "Oh these are my friends Mar'i and Damian! Guy's this is Ivy the bestest person in the world" Melody gushed on and on as Pamela just shook her head with a small smile.
"Pamela Isley, you're that famous botanist everyone talks about" Damian said as Pamela nodded.
"Indeed I am, you're Wayne's kid?" she asked as a smirk tugged at his lips.
Melody sat in the front seat as they drove across the bridge out of the city. She lived in a large house overlooking the harbour and city. There were a number of different plant's scattered outside in the large garden as she pulled into the garage. The girl got out, both hands holding onto the straps of her backpack as she looked around amazed. She gave a brief tour around the house - a couple of bedrooms, a large kitchen, two living rooms, plenty of washrooms, as well as a pool in the backyard.
The house rested on the edge of the cliff so swimming in the pool felt like you were about to fall off the edge. It was a thrilling and fun experience to look over the pools glass wall down the cliff. It was a long drop to the cold water below. "Do you have any homework?" Pamela asked as they sat down on the suede beige couch.
"Yeah I have science but I'm not really good at it" the girl said with a frown.
"Okay, I'll be willing to help as long as you smile" Pamela said as the girl immediately grinned.
For awhile they worked on her science homework, Pamela was amazed by how easy it was. Then again she studied science in university and was a botanist. "What do you want to be when you're older?" Pamela asked out of pure curiosity. She had just finished helping Melody with her last science question.
The young girl sat there contemplating for a minute or two before opeing her mouth to speak. "What does my mom do? I want to be like her when I'm big" Melody said with one of the brightest and admirable smiles Pamela has ever seen on her face. If Harley had heard what her daughter said then she would've had a permanent grin stuck to her face. Melody shifted around on the sofa and looked back at the kitchen to see the bouquet of flowers sitting in a vase on top of the counter.
Melody smiled faintly as her green eyes traced the flowers different petals and shape of the blue glass vase. "Are they for my mom?" she asked, eyes still trained on the beautiful bouquet. Pamela folded her arms and drew in a deep breath before speaking. "Yes" Pamela said as Melody turned her head to smile brightly at her.
"Don't worry she'll like them, she'll like them just as much as she likes you" Melody said still smiling from ear to ear.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flashes of camera lights went off all around her as she posed in front of the green back drop. This was another one of her many modeling jobs she had to do this week. Sometimes it was hard to visit her daughter with all of the work she was doing. The shoot ended an hour after that and soon she was dropped off at her apartment once again.

She fell back onto the sofa when she stepped inside and wrapped herself up in a purple wool blanket. Her favourite colour was violet, the colour made her pop. The apartment was silent, it was quite lonely all by herself. Raven was living elsewhere and she was almost positive that her friend was angry at her. After all Kori is the one who left her in the first place, she was the one who injured both Raven and Mar'i.

All of that felt so long ago but in reality it was a year or two ago. It was hard to keep up with time with everything that she's been doing. She raked a hand through her long red hair as she laid on the sofa thinking. There weren't any other modeling jobs offered for today. They were all scheduled later this week. Most of her friends were probably in school - Zatanna shouldn't be!

Not at this time anyways. Her fingers grasped her cellpone which lay idle on the coffee table before she dialed the number. It took a moment for Zatanna to answer but the whole time she waited Kori sat there smiling. She was always a happy and optimistic person, it was one of the thing's that everyone remembers about her. "Hello Kori" the voice said cheerfully.

"Why hello Zatanna, how are you?" she asked curiously.

Since she woke up from the trauma induced coma she had been brushing up on her English. "I'm good - knock it off you two! - sorry" the woman over the phone asked. In the background she could hear yelling, it almost sounded like an argument. "Is everything alright?" Kori asked clutching the phone close to her ear. There was another string of yelling from Zatanna in the background, she must've pulled the phone away from her. "Yeah it's just Mar'i and Damian arguing - stop hitting each other!" there was a crashing noise in the background before the line abruptly went dead.

Out of her own curiosity and worry as a parent Kori went to go check up on them. When she opened the apartment door she could hear yelling and thumping coming from the living room. Zatanna looked like she was about to pull her hair out as she pushed the two kid's apart. "I hate you!" Mar'i yelled at the top of her lungs.

"The feelings mutual!" the dark haired boy hollered back.

Kori strode over and yanked Mar'i away by her arm. The girl came crashing into her from the sheer force of being pulled, if anything it was unexpected. "Why are you giving Zatanna a hard time?" Kori asked sternly. Mar'i looked away pouting, her face was red and there were carpet burns on her knees. There was a broken vase on the floor, most likely the source of the crashing noise she heard over the phone.

They kept the two kid's in separate rooms until Alfred came to pick Damian up. Mar'i hadn't said anything the whole entire time until he left. "Thank you Kori" Zatanna said patting her on the back and taking a sip of water. "Water?" she then asked as Kori nodded flashing her a grateful smile as she was passed a cool bottle. The two of them shared motherly looks before heading over to the sofa where Mar'i sat.

The young girl definitely was as stubborn as her father was. Her arms were crossed and she made sure to glare sharply at both of them. "Why were you two fighting?" Zatanna asked softly. There was nothing but silence that came from the girl. Kori sighed, children were quite difficult to deal with. "You tell us right now why you were yelling or - or we'll tell your father" Kori threatened.

Mar'i Grayson hated to disappoint her father, she practically idolized him. After all he fought for the greater good and she was a definite daddy's girl. There was no doubt about that. "Promise you won't be mad" she said looking down at her lap as she fidgeted with the sleeves of her navy blue blazer. School didn't end that long ago, Kori could see that they arrived home not that long ago.

The two women sat there patiently waiting to hear what Mar'i had to say. "Well remember the mean man that hurt you?" she asked looking towards Zatanna. Kori had heard whispers about Zatanna being kidnapped and presumed dead but she didn't know the full details. "When Damian and I went to the ice cream shop he was there and he said he was going to hurt me if I wasn't quiet but I told Damian just now and he started yelling. I told him to be quiet and when he tried to get up I jumped on him and we began to fight" she said quietly, her gaze was still trained on her lap.

"I need to make a call, stay with her" Zatanna said as she shakily stood up and quickly exited the room.

A/N: I'm sorry for not updating for so long but I've had school so please don't kill me.
