Chapter 35

The sun streamed through the frosty window's of the house. She was still asleep as he got up. The bed creaked as he stood up. His clothes were wrinkled and he was uncomfortable. Sleeping in clothes was never something he really liked. Roquette rolled over mumbling something but she didn't wake up. A relieved sigh escaped his lips. He took a quick shower before changing into new clothes.

He had to tell her what him and his father talked about last night. It didn't help that he was related to a wanted criminal. His wife was going to freak. Roquette was going to probably kill him. Taking a deep breath he went downstairs and began to prepare breakfast. If anything he would tell her during a nice relaxing breakfast. As he was cooking he could hear her footsteps upstairs. Every muscle tensed up before he heard the shower turn on.

Another relieved sigh escaped his lips. Kaldur was never. Even more nervous than when he proposed to her. It didn't take long for her to come downstairs. "You look beautiful as always my love" he said as she sluggishly walked over. The morning was never really her thing. Unless if it was to go surfing. Gotham didn't have really nice surfing area's. Or really any in general.

He kissed her forehead as she walked to the kitchen table. Pulling one of the chairs out and taking a seat. Even with the shower she just took she was still tired. Then she smelt the food. Her eyes fully opened as she narrowed her eyes at him. "Kaldur what's wrong?" she asked as he froze where he was standing. That nervous feeling was creeping up his body. She was onto him. "What do you mean?" he asked acting oblivious.

She stood up and slowly walked over. Then she placed her hands on her hips and began to tap her foot against the floor. "We've been together for a long time Kal so I know when you're lying" she said glaring hard at him. Kaldur gulped as he placed the food onto two plates. Luckily the coffee was ready as well. "I made breakfast" he said nervously. She took her food and cup of coffee before sitting down at the table.

"You never make breakfast unless you want to talk" she said as he sighed.

"It is about my father and what we discussed last night" he said with another sigh.

"Uh huh I'm listening" she said becoming increasingly impatient.

If anything Roquette only had a certain amount of time before she would become increasingly irritated. He took a sip of his coffee before coughing. Just as he was about to speak the doorbell rang. "Saved by the bell handsome" she said before standing up and walking away. His leg was shaking out of nervousness. It was just something he did when he was feeling uneasy.

"Kal some of the GCPD Officer's are here. Why are they here?" she asked walking in.

"I don't know" he said truthfully.

Kaldur stood up and walked to the front entrance. She followed close behind him as if she were his shadow. "Mornin' Mr. Ahm" one of the officer's said tipping his hat to him. This was quite odd for police officer's to be at the house. "We're going to need you to come with us" one of them said. Roquette's eyes went as wide as saucers as they watched a pair of handcuffs attach to his hands.

"Kaldur I swear to god I am going to beat your ass if you've done something wrong!" she yelled as he sighed.

"I don't know what I've done but I'll get it sorted out" he said as she huffed.

"Your damn right you will" she said as he sighed being lead out of the house and into the police cruiser.

The race was on back towards the barn. Conner was far ahead and Wendy was trying her hardest. They were coming up to a bend in the road. Without warning a car was on its way down it. Within seconds the poor horse began to jump. Noir wasn't in any immediate danger but Wendy was. The horse had thrown her off as she landed on a hill. Unfortunately this hill was steep as she began to tumble down it. It hurt like hell as she tumbled down.

Then she just laid there in the snow. She could hear her heartbeat as she stared up at the sky. Everything hurt. Conner continued riding for a minute or so. Looking back he noticed she wasn't there. Eyes going wide he turned the horse around and began to ride back. Noir was in the distance but Wendy wasn't. Slowing down he quickly hopped off. The horse's wouldn't go anywhere.

He looked around the snowy area for any sign of her. She continued to stare up at the sky. The clouds were sailing freely through the sky. Everything just felt so surreal at the moment. Then she jumped out of her shock. Glancing around she saw snow and trees to one side and a hill to the other. At the top she could barely make out a figure walking around. "Help....help!" she yelled as loud as she could. Her head was pounding as if it were being hit with a boulder over and over again.

Conner was frantically looking around. Then he heard a faint voice in the distance. Stopping he focused in to the sound of the voice. He turned his head looking down the steep hill. He could just barely make out the figure lying at the bottom. Quickly he made his way down as fast as he could. It was hard as he attempted to run down the hill. Slowly the figure was coming closer to her.

All she could make out at the moment was a figure. She had no clue who it was. Maybe it was Conner or the person in the car. A million things were rushing through her mind. Conner appeared in front of her as he kneeled down. "Hey are you okay?" he asked panting. She slowly nodded trying to talk. There was still just so much shock hitting her at once. "I...I fell off of the horse when that car came" she said as he nodded checking her over.

Blood streaked down from the side of her forehead. She must have hit her head when she tumbled down. "I'm going to pick you up okay?" he said as she slowly nodded. He did, picking her up bridal style. A rush of adrenaline washed over his body. He needed to get her back; make sure she was safe.

This was going to be a long shot but it would have to work. Megan knew that her Uncle knew a lot of people. Many different kinds of people. Maybe he could help find Zatanna using his connections. But it really was a long shot. "Do you think he can help?" Barbara asked quickly typing things in. She was still trying to narrow down the location of where the signal was coming from. Suddenly her father burst into the room.

Immediately fear washed over them all. Dick shot up to his feet almost instantly. If anything he was bracing for the worst. "That signal came from the Park Row area right?" he asked as Barbara nodded. Turning her chair around she wheeled over. At the moment they were all nervous. "A couple people heard a gunshot in front of one of the townhouses. A kid that was looking out the window said that a man was dragging a dark haired woman out from a house" he said as they nodded.

Dick was just about ready to go. Barbara grabbed him by the wrist as he turned to face her. She wasn't totally in love with him anymore but she did care. Even with the horrible thing's she did in High school she was still trying to right her wrongs. "Please be careful. If anything happens to her your the only thing Mar'i will have left" she said as he stared at her. There was a blank expression on her face as he nodded and left.

Megan was still in there with her. She sighed with her head in her hands. Barbara may have been mean but that was a long time ago. They were all friend's now. "Have you ever just wanted to take back thing's that you wish you never did? Make thing's right?" she asked as Megan raised an eyebrow. She was a little taken a back by this. Sure the two weren't really close but this felt different.

"Yeah, everyday" Megan said truthfully.

Barbara sat up. "What do you mean? I thought you were Miss goodie two shoes" she said as Megan sighed.

"We all have thing's that we've done wrong, most of them worse than other's" Megan said before there was a beeping noise.

Barbara wheeled back over to the computer. Many things were coming in at once. Most of it Megan didn't even understand by looking at it. "Shit" she whispered before quickly typing thing's in.

"What's wrong?" Megan asked walking over.

"I'm being hacked and whoever it is has some skill. Unfortunately there not as good as Oracle" she said with a smirk.

Everything was just a jumble of letters and numbers to Megan. She was never really gifted in the technology branch. There was another beeping sound as Barbara sighed. A satisfied smile on her face as she did so. "What happened?" Megan asked still quite confused. "Well I beat them for one but they seemed really eager to get whatever they wanted" she said as Megan nodded.

It made no sense at the start but Megan kind of understood. There was another knock on the door. "Come in!" she yelled as Megan stayed silent. The door opener as her Uncle walked in fixing his blazer ws he did so. "Uncle J'ohnn we need your help" she said as he sighed. She was nervous; Megan had never asked him for this type of 'help' before.

Stephanie had no choice but to go with them on their wacky adventure. The kid's were out of their mind. But it would be interesting to meet big bad Damian Wayne's mother. He's never really talked about her. Well the only time he really talks around the house is when he insulting someone. "You shouldn't be out of bed. Bruce is going to kill me" she said following the two children out of the hospital.

"Hardly. Father hasn't cared for any of his children thus far which is why Grayson is so damaged" he spat as Stephanie growled.

Mar'i slapped his hand as he glared hard at her. His mother wouldn't be happy to see other people with him. "How's your arm?" Mar'i asked after awhile. She was a little worried for him. When she got kidnapped and that man did horrible things to her she was in the hospital for weeks. He got shot in the shoulder and he was only in there for mere hour's. "Is your Mom nice?" she asked curiously. Damian scoffed, as if.

"Is she pretty?" she asked as he sighed.

"Of course she is she's the most beautiful woman in the world" he said proudly.

"I think my Mom's pretty as well" she said with a smile plastered to her face.

The sun was still high in the sky as it casted shining rays against the ground. "Where does your mother live?" she asked curiously as they walked down an alleyway. This must be a trap. Stephanie never liked this kid from the start. He was bad news and she knew it. Mar'i however blindly trusted him. "Come now. We're lucky she's still in Gotham attending to business with my grandfather" he said pulling up a sewer grate.

"Oh no we are not going down in some sewer" Stephanie protested.

Mar'i went to go down when she grabbed the girl's arm. This was going to be gross. Dick was going to kill her for letting Mar'i down in a sewer. "Let me go Stephanie. Damian's Mom is now the only chance I have in finding mine so let me go!" she yelled as Stephanie sighed.

"Whatever but I'm not going down there. Meet me back up here when your done your little crusade" Stephanie said letting her go.

"Well let's go" Mar'i said happily as she began to climb down the ladder.

"What about you Fatgirl? Aren't you scared of getting mugged?" he taunted with a smirk.

"This is Gotham squirt. I'm not some helpless blonde around here" she said as he rolled his eyes and climbed down.
