Chapter 25

He walked around the campus of Gotham U. Gordon had yet to give him a partner but he didn't think he needed one. Unfortunately Mar'i was still in the hospital but he got called in. There was a complaint from the University so Gordon sent him to investigate. A couple of girls walked passed letting out light giggles. Dick wasn't blind, he knew he was hot. Walking towards the main building the wind blew passed. A shiver traveling down his spine. He had a note in his hand as he looked around.

There was a girl with blue hair who was about to walk into the class that Zatanna currently had. "Hey Miss" he said as she stopped and turned to face him. A smirk playing against her lips when she saw him. "Would it be wrong to say that the officers of the law keep getting hotter?" she asked twisting a stran of blue hair around her finger. He was far from interested in her in any way. "There's a girl in this class, Zatanna Zatara. Do you think you can give this to her for me?" he asked blushing a bright red.

The girl's face fell as she crossed her arms. He could smell the alcohol from her when she first spoke. "No, why would I do something for you?" she spat as he smirked.

"Well I could arrest you from going to class intoxicated. The alcohol smell from your breath reaks sweetie" he said in a sickeningly sweet voice.

The fact that he was straying from the task at hand was bad enough. He should've been in the Office talking to the head of the school by now. "Fine I'll take your crummy note" she growled snatching the note from his hand. This girl really had a lot of attitude. "Oh and I'll know if you don't give it to her" he said with a wink before walking off. Stuffing his hands into his pockets as he whistled a catchy tune. His mind reeling with thousands of thoughts at once. Most of the lately being about Zatanna and Mar'i.

He knew his daughter would be in good hands right now. Stephanie was there and sadly Damian was to. That child refused to leave her side. At least they were getting along for the most part. He strolled into the grand office, tipping his hat to the secretary. "Good morning Officer" she said as he smiled resting his hands on the counter. "Commisioner Gordon sent me here. The head called him yesterday" he said as the ladies eyes went wide. "Oh I'll get her now!" she said nervously standing up.

She scurried out of the room with a light blush on her cheeks. Dick rubbed his hands together and blew hot air on them. It was quite cold in here as well as outside. Then again it could just be him as a person. "She can see you now" the lady said as he flashed her his famed smile. The one that made the ladies swoon over him. Walking passed he entered a large office. The chair was turned around to face the large frosty window. Dozens of books against the walls in their proper bookshelves. He stood there quietly not sure of what to do.

"Good morning Officer" the woman greeted as the chair spun around.

A woman who looked to be in her early fifties. Her dark brown hair beginning to grey at the sides. "Please take a seat" she said pointing to the chair in front of the large dark wood desk. Dick took a seat as he pulled out his notepad. "Commisioner Gordon sent me here. You called him early yesterday morning?" he asked as she nodded. Unfortunately he had to record everything in his notepad. Pen clicking as he scribbled that down.

"Yes there's been gang activity around the school recently. I want it taken care of before someone gets hurt" she said as Dick nodded.

He would have to get a lot of information from her if it was about gang activity. This was going to be one long meeting.

Classes finally ended after she walked out. The sky was streaked in various ornages and pinks. It was rare for the sky to ever look like this in Gotham. She stood there staring up at it for a minute or two. Long blond hair blowing in the wind. Sighing she watched her breath dance in the frosty air. Her footsteps heavy against the snow as it crunched underneath her boots. She thought she had heard someone call her name but that was probably just her mind. That's when she heard it again. Turning around her eyes caught a familiar red head and a dog.

Wally ran over pulling Brucely along with him. She shook her head with a small smile on her face. The dog had a little jacket on which was undeniably adorable. "Wally did you seriously walk all the way over here with Brucely?" she asked as he nodded. A cheeky smile plastered to his face. Rolling her eyes she kissed his freckled cheek. "Well I thought that I could walk him here to get you so that way when we get back we can go out right away" he said as she chuckled.

Sometimes he would have the smartest ideas. She slipped her hand down to his, intertwining their fingers. It was quiet as they walked out of the University. Brucely sniffing nearly everything in sight. The dog had never been to this part of the City before. "So while we're walking we can decide on dinner" she said as his emerald eyes lit up. Of course, Wally would get excited over the mention of food.

Soon the once beautifully coloured sky was covered with dark clouds. Christmas break was in three days and she still hadn't gotten any presents. There was all of their friends, her family, and Wally's family. Artemis was tough at times but was a sucker for the Holiday's. They just always seemed so magical to her for some reason. As they were walking a girl walked over. The fur coat swaying behind her. "Artemis! Wally! Hey!" she exclaimed as the blond's face fell. Why was Linda here and talking to them.

"Hey Linda" Wally said awkwardly.

"Oh its so good to see you two" she said giving them both hugs.

Was this even the evil Linda from high school? Brucely went to sniff the woman before backing off and hiding behind his owners. "Yeah" Artemis said as her voice trailed off. This was super awkward and aggravating. What gave her the right to come up to them after what she did! "Oh you two are so adorable together" she said as Artemis inwardly cringed. Why did she sound so fake? "Thank you?" Wally said as it sounded like more of a question. Old memories were reoccurring in their minds.

"So how have you two been?" she asked batting her eyes mostly at Wally.

"Fine" Artemis said in a dull tone.

"Oh lighten up Arty" she said playfully hitting her in the shoulder.

Linda's eyes then lit up when she saw poor Brucely hiding behind the two of them. "Awe is that a dog?" she squealed as Wally and Artemis both sighed and nodded. There night was going so well to until now! "Oh come here you cute thing" she said crouching down and reaching out to Brucely. The dog whimpered out of fear for the woman. "Well it was great seeing you two, especially you Wally. We should catch up some time. Ciao" she said before walking away, her shoulder hitting Artemis'.

That was just plain weird for them. Brucely finally came out from hiding behind them. Artemis bending down to pat the canines head. "I know I would be scared to have a clown lookalike grabbing at me as well" she said as Wally laughed.

"What her makeup makes her look like a clown" she said as he kept laughing.

They quickly made it back to their building complex. Brucely immediately headed for the couch as Artemis took her school bag off. "Okay I'm going to grab my Christmas list I'll be back" she said disappearing from the room as his phone buzzed. Looking down at the screen he saw that one dreadful name; Linda.

Finally, they allowed her out of the hospital. Garfield was jumping from utter joy when he heard that. Raven on the other hand just rolled her eyes at his silly antics. "Be careful M'gann. I do not wish for you to strain herself" Uncle J'ohnn said as she nodded. The bitter cold air hit her face as they walked out of the hospital. It was dark out as the towering buildings lit up the night sky. Luckily her Uncle J'ohnn rented a car while they were here. "Wait here with your sister and Raven. I will go get the car" he said before walking off.

Garfield immediately hugged her as she winced. That hurt way more than it should have. "Do you want to kill her?!" Raven yelled yanking him off of her. A nervous smile appearing on his face as he scratched the back of his head. Raven crossed her arms glaring daggers at him. "So are you two like a thing?" Megan asked to try and lighten the mood. The dark haired girl immediately began to blush a crimson red. A smirk playing against Garfield's lips.

He swung an arm around Raven's shoulder pulling her over. "Yep she's my girlfriend" he said popping the 'p' as she groaned.

"Unfortunately" she muttered.

"Awe Rae you know you love me" he said as Megan giggled.

She was glad to know that her brother was in good hands. Although she was quite jealous. He seemed to cling to Raven more than her. It wasn't long until her Uncle J'ohnn pulled up at the curb. Carefully she got into the car. Her stomach aching in protest as she sat down. Even though she was discharged didn't mean she was automatically better. Megan was still quite sick but that didn't stop her from getting homework and assignments.

Instead of staying at her dorm she would be staying at the hotel with her family plus Raven. "I will go park the car. Raven you have to room key?" Uncle J'ohnn asked as she nodded. They got out as her Uncle drove off down the busy street. The large hotel looming over them as she gulped. They walked inside and into the elevator. She leaned against the wall of it holding her pained stomach. She would have to take the painkillers when she got inside.

"Megan are you okay?" Gar asked as she nodded.

"Yeah Gar I'm fine" she gritted through her teeth.

Raven shook her head with a frown on her face. When the elevator doors opened Raven sighed helping her out. Megan leaned against the girl with a frown. "Relax. If I didn't want to help then I wouldn't have" Raven said in a dull tone. No wonder why her and Garfield got along so well-well most of the time anyways. He was the lightness to her dark. "Here you can open the door" she said handing the keycard to Gar. He began to put it into the door seeing that it wasn't working.

"Raven it doesn't work" he whined as she rolled her dark eyes.

"Wrong way idiot" she grumbled as he turned it around.

The small light lit up green as they walked inside. The room was actually quite large. Megan didn't know how her Uncle could've afforded this room but then again she had no clue what his job was. Whenever she asked about what he did there would be a long pause. He would sigh placing his hand on her's and shaking his head before standing up and leaving the room. Raven helped her to the couch as she laid down. Shifting around to get into a comfortable position. "Oh Raven?" Gar yelled from the kitchen.

The girl groaned before taking a seat on the smaller sofa. Megan raised an eyebrow at this. "Five. Four. Three. Two. One" she said before Garfield came scurrying into the room. Raven had her book out as she silently read. "Raven I'm bored" he said sitting on the small sofa next to her. Megan couldn't help but muffle her laughs with her hands. At least she would have some entertainment while lying here. It was quite intriguing to see the two of them interact. They were like Ying and Yang.

"Then read" Raven said plainly.

"Can you read to me?" he asked batting his eyes at her.

"I would like to hear a story as well Raven" Megan cut in as the girl sighed.

"Fine. But no interruptions" she said as the two of them nodded.

Her finger glided across the page as she flipped it. Garfield was staring at her. Although her hair covered most of her face from his view he could still see the tip of her nose and her lips. He was just so entranced by her.

" "We understand" they all claim. "But do you? Do you understand tears rolling down your cheeks at 3 am? Do you understand permenant sadness? Do you understand the hollow feeling you get when you know you'll always be alone? Do you really think that you understand?!?!?!" I screamed to them. All they could manage was a small gulp as they tore their eyes away. And told themselves that they understood -g.o.t" she read aloud as they sat there in silence.

At first Garfield was going to speak up but decided to close his mouth. Megan was lying there in question as well. That held so much meaning in that smalk poem. After her and Conner broke up that's how she felt for the longest time. "Its a poem book" Raven said filling the silence. Garfield had his head rested against her shoulder. Megan gave the two of them a small smile. That is how it went for the next hour. They sat in silence as Raven continued to read from her poem book. And oddly Megan didn't mind it at all.

A/N: I'm off sick today from school for reasons so I'll be posting more than one chapter of this book today!!!!!!
