It was still bitterly cold as she walked through the snow covered park. The park was a quick short cut to get to her next class. While walking she noticed something attached to a tree. Generally this caught her interest as she walked over. Squinting her eyes she read the writing on the paper. "Archery Team! Tryouts on Thursday at eight o'clock sharp" the page said as she smirked. She didn't really do much at the moment besides homework. Wally was going to join the track team in the summer but she didn't have a sport.

Besides archery was her thing and she absolutely adored it. The way the bow sat in her hands as she pulled the arrow back. The satisfying smile when it cuts through the air and hits the target. Sighing her breath became visible in the frosty air. After much thinking as she walked to class she decided she would join. She didn't want to waste her talent away. Waiting in the hallway she looked out the window. It was still snowing and she couldn't believe it.

That's when someone tapped her shoulder from behind. Artemis jumped from the sudden contact but turned around. To her surprise it was Zatanna. She had a frown on her face but a bag was with her and everything. "Hey Zee. Why are you here?" she asked skeptically. Usually Zatanna would be at home with Mar'i. "Oh um Dick got me a scholarship here to become a teacher. I didn't know you were in this class" she said nervously. Artemis took note to the things that were different about her.

The reddened nose, watery and bloodshot eyes, hair a mess, and her skin conplexion was paler than normal. Sure they didn't hang out as much as they would in High School but she knew her well enough to know she wasn't okay. "Zee what's wrong?" she asked a little more concerned. Artemis was really starting to worry for her now. The last time she had seen her this distraught was when her father died. "Mar'i's in the hospital and we're not allowed in to see her" Zatanna said as Artemis wrapped her in a hug. It was strange because they didn't get any news of this happening.

     Tears fell from the girls eyes wetting her shirt. "Where's Dick?" she asked curiously. The bell buzzed as the teacher unlocked the door and walked into the lecture hall. Sighing she let Zatanna go and placed her hand on her shoulders. "I'm a bad mom Artemis I let her get kidnapped and then hurt. Its my fault" she cried out as the tears flowed down her pale cheeks. The blond shook her head with a small smile. "Zatanna you are the most hard working girl I have ever met. I don't know what happened when you went M.I.A but I do know that you took care of Mar'i. Just like if you were her real mother" Artemis said as Zatanna cut in.

"But she got hurt" she said wiping her tears.

"Zee you're two years younger than me and you take care of two kid's and go to school. Now is that hard working or what?" she asked as Zatanna raised an eyebrow.

"Two kid's?" she asked as they started walking into the lecture hall.

"Grayson is a kid admit it" Artemis said as the two of them both laughed.

     Taking a seat near the top they watched as everyone began to file in. Artemis's phone buzzed as she checked the text from Wally. "Awe you two are adorable" she said nudging the blond in the shoulder. A blush spread across her cheeks as she put the phone away. Wally always texted her that he loved her before she started any of her classes. "So are you and Dick a thing yet?" Artemis asked now nudging Zatanna as she froze. A bright red now tinting her pale cheeks. "N-no of course not!" she whisper yelled as Artemis chuckled.

At least she was making her less depressed at the moment. People filled the seats and soon the lecture started. Her pencil quicjly gliding across the page of her notebook. Hand cramping she bit back and exhausted sigh. The teacher was speaking quite quickly. All of her notes were messy but as long as she got them down she didn't care. "In this class I encourage group work. For an assignment you will pick a partner and create a newspaper. It will be due first thing after Christmas break" the teacher said towards the end of class.

Zatanna glanced at Artemis as she nodded. Their lives were so crazy that this fake newspaper will be filled with plenty of stories and photos. Her phone buzzed as she slid it out of her pocket. Looking down as the light illuminated her face. Wally was sending her a million texts.

Received at 4:45 pm. Wally: Artemis I need help like rn

Received at 4:46 pm. Wally: Babe you need to get your ass to the hospital ASAP

Received at 5:01 pm. Wally: ARTY HELP ME MAR'I'S TINY DEMON BOYFRIEND IS TRYING TO KILL ME!

Received at 5:22 pm. Wally: R.I.P Wally 2k16. This is Dick by the way...

Received now. Wally: Hey beatiful I know your class just ended. Dick said Zatanna was with you so just meet us as the hospital. I <3 you Arty

With a light laugh she slid her cellphone back into her pocket. Wally's texts made her laugh sometimes because of the ridiculousness of them. "Wally says to meet them at the hospital. Something about Mar'i's tiny demon boyfriend trying to kill him" she said as the two of them stood up. Zatanna made an 'O' with her mouth before giggling. "Let's get the assignment sheet and go" Zatanna said as she agreed.

She stared at the wall twidling her fingers around. Her Uncle J'ohnn and Garfield went to go grab some food leaving her with Raven. It was dead silent in the room until the door opened. To her surprise it was La'gann, why was he here? "Hey Angelfish" he said with his hands behind his back. Clearly he didn't notice Raven sitting in the corner of the room. "Hey La'gann" she said in a raspy voice. Everything still hurt as her head continued to pound. "I uh brought you flowers" he said pulling out a bouquet of white lillies from behind his back.

Flashing a thankful smile he put them on her bedside table. Her eyes glanced over to Raven who was glaring holes into the back of La'gann's head. "Why are you here?" she asked as he rubbed the back of his neck letting out a nervous laugh. "Well I wanted to check on you and everyone is talking about it around campus" he said as she frowned looking down. Now everyone knew how much of a dysfunctional screw up she was.

The door opened as her Uncle and Garfield walked in. Immediately her little brother's eyes narrowed at the intruder. "Oh La'gann this is my Uncle and my brother Garfield" she said before coughing to try and clear her throat. Raven poked him in the back as he turned around and yelped. "Neptune's beard!" he yelled as Raven gave him a stoic look. "Anyways I should um being going I'll see you later" La'gann said before retreating from the rokm quickly. All eyes went on her as Megan blushed.

"He's just a friend" she said as her Uncle rolled his eyes.

"He brought you flowers" Raven said in a flat voice.

Garfield took a seat on the floor next to the chair Raven was sitting in. He was eating a burger while looking up at the violet haired girl. Megan couldn't help but go googly eyed over how adorable the two of them were. "So sis what do you do at school?" Garfield asked turning his gaze over to Megan. She cleared her throat before opening her chapped lips. "Well I cook, bake, do business, and so much more complicated stuff" she answered as he rolled his eyes.

"I thought you were being a cook so why are you taking business?" he questioned further as Raven hit him on top of the head with her book.

"Ouch!" he yelled rubbing his head as Megan giggled.

"Well Gar I need business if I want to own or buy a restaurant or baking establishment" she said before coughing to clear her throat.

The burning pain in her stomach wouldn't go away as she shifted around. "How's school?" she then asked trying to hide the pain in her voice. "Pointless and boring" Raven answered as Garfield crossed his arms and pouted. "Actually Tim moved away to Gotham so Cassie was sad about that. Bart keeps saying these weird words but he's a cool dude. Oh and Jaime got the new Batman game!" Garfield said all in one breath. The door opened once again as the Nurse walked in. "Okay Miss Morse on a scale of one to ten how bad is the pain?" she asked, Jersey accent thick.

Megan held up eight fingers to the Nurse as she nodded and scribbled it down. "Okay we'll up the morphine to try and better numb the pain" she said as Megan nodded giving her a thumbs up. After that the doctor came in and took some blood and gave a quick check up. "Well M'gann it is getting quite late. I will take Garfield and Raven back to the hotel. Take care until the morning" her Uncle said as she nodded. Garfield was half asleep as Raven rolled her eyes and pulled him up. "Hey Rae-" he began to say.

"No" Raven cut him off as she let him go to fall back on his bottom.

Megan couldn't help but laugh.

He sat in the corner of the room holding his hand. Eyes scanning over his physics notes for an upcoming test. Most of this was just review for him. In the background Dick and the devil child were arguing. Wally had no classes today when Dick called him up. He was filled in on everything that had happened to Mar'i. The poor kid had been through so much already that this was just sad. The girl was knocked out cold from all of the medication she was put on. Wally sat there trying to block out the yelling as best as he could.

If he didn't pass this test it would ruin his perfect score. His emerald eyes glanced up to see the two still bickering. It wasn't like Bruce was actually here. Dick was mumbling something about him being unreliable. The yelling was starting to annoy him as he closed his notebook and stood up. "Maybe we should lower out voices a bit" he suggested as Damian burned holes into his head with a sharp glare.

"Shut the hell up West" the kid spat as Wally's nostrils flared with anger.

Reaching up with his good hand he took deep breaths. Hand balled into fists as he punched the air. "You're so damn lucky your a kid" he grumbled as Dick chuckled. Damian clicked his tongue against his teeth when the door opened. Zatanna and Artemis walked in with Stephanie with them. "Oh Fatgirl's back" Damian snorted as Dick groaned out of irritation. Sometimes Wally wondered how Dick dealt with this family of his. He shuffled over to Artemis and showed her the small splint on his index finger. "Awe want me to kiss it better?" she teased as he nodded with a playful pout on his lips.

She rolled her gray eyes and kissed it happily. Zatanna walked over to Dick as the two began to whisper to each other. "Oh and please put a restraint on this child" he said as Damian growled throwing a punch at him. Artemis stepped in front of Wally grabbing the kid's hand and twisting it. "You underestimate me Crock" Damian said sending a kick to her leg. Everyone began to hush when they noticed Mar'i waking up. The girl immediately began to cry. Wally felt pity for the poor girl.

Hell he had been stabbed before by his girlfriend's Dad. That was a fiasco when that happened. He thought back to that day as a small smile graced his lips. After all he did end up protecting his beautiful girlfriend. "Its hurts!" she cried out as Zatanna and Dick sat on her bedside. Stephanie leaning against the wall as he walked over. Artemis was still dealing with the little brat. "Your Stephanie right?" he asked curiously. She looked surprised at him before nodding. The crying in the background only getting louder and more heartbreaking. "Yeah Stephanie Brown. Technically Dick's sister slash babysitter" she said as he let out a light laugh.

Artemis walked over with an eye roll. Damian was standing near Mar'i now with his arms crossed. The three of them leaned against the wall watching everything play out. The girl reached up and grabbed Damian as they all laughed. "That girl has managed to put a leash on that kid" he said as they all laughed once again.
