It was a week until they had to be packed and in Gotham. "Arty this is so much work!" He whined taping another box shut. She rolled her steel grey eyes at his whining. He had been like this for the past hour and a half. It was early and she had called him over. Sighing she stood up from her crouching position and rubbed her eyes. "I guess we could go and get breakfast" she said as his face lit up as he licked his lips. Taking her hand he dragged her out of the Queen Mansion and to her car.

They have decided to take her sports car to Gotham. They both didn't have many boxes to bring with them. If they really needed anything they would just drive back to Happy Harbor on Holiday's. "Can I drive?" He asked as she sighed and nodded tossing him the keys. He drove around as they both bickered over the place they wanted to eat at. "Okay can we just go to McDonald's?" She asked as he closed his mouth and nodded. All of their friend's were going to Gotham.

Whether it be to attend 'Gotham U' or to pursue other things. "Have you talked to Dick yet?" She asked as they got out of the car and walked into the iconic fast food restaurant. Before he could answer they ordered their food, grabbed it and sat at an empty table. "So back to my question" she said taking a bite out of her breakfast sandwich. He glanced up at her, emerald eyes meeting steel grey ones. "Yeah like this morning. He's been chilling at his apartment down there" he said as she nodded.

Dick had left a month earlier and got himself an apartment in Gotham. He was attending the GCPD's Police Academy to become an officer of the law. "He said that we should stop by when we're settled in" he said as she nodded. She then began to listen to his endless rambling until they finished eating. When they got back to the Mansion she they were greeted by a toddler. "Hey Lian" Artemis said picking up the two now almost three year old. The toddler had pale skin, long black hair and dark eyes.

She mostly took after her mother except for her skin tone which was all from her father. "Lian? Man Jade's gonna kill me" a voice said as Roy walked into the front foyer. Lian giggled as while hugging Artemis. "What's she avoiding now?" The blonde asked as Roy sighed running a hand through his red hair. "She's supposed to have a bath before Jade gets home" he said as Artemis rolled her eyes and handed the toddler off to Roy. "Now we can get back to packing yay!" She yelled with as much enthusiasm as she could muster.

Just to annoy Wally of course.

It was during his downtime of course as he walked around Gotham. Hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans as he looked around. The last time he was in Gotham was when he was ten years old. Since he skipped a grade he graduated from Highschool a year earlier. That meant he would be the youngest person attending the Police Academy at the age of seventeen. He would be eighteen in mere months but it was still the same. He was still a little bit emotional after what happened to Jason last year.

His mind began to wander back to his younger technical brother. They always didn't agree on butt heads a lot but he was still his younger brother. Being one of the adoptive son's of Bruce Wayne gave him certain privileges. His surrogate father made sure that he was living in a suitable place. As in suitable the apartment was in one of the richest neighborhood's a couple blocks from the Academy. Wally and Artemis were going to move into an apartment complex a block over. Oliver made sure Artemis would have plenty of money while she was away from home.

While walking down the sidewalk someone bumped into him. He stumbled a bit but caught himself before he fell. Grumbling was heard as he looked down seeing a dark haired girl stuffing things back into her bag. "Sorry about that" he said crouching down to help her. The girl looked up for a moment to give him an apologetic smile. Her crystal blue eyes went wide for a moment before her mouth dropped. "D-Dick?" She stuttered out as he looked at her more closely. He would recognize those eyes anywhere.

They both stood up at the same time as his mouth tried to form words. Her eyes clouded with tears before she hugged him. "Zatanna? Are you okay?" He asked as she began to cry even harder. She honestly looked really awful since the last time he had seen her. The response he got was the shake of her head. He had tried to text or even call her for the past two years but she never answered. "Here we can go to my apartment and have some lunch" he said as she nodded looking up with a hopeful smile.

What were the odds that he would bump into her? It was weird because she was silent the whole walk as she looked down at her shoes. Today was really warm out and she was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, which was quite odd. When they got into his apartment she still stayed completely silent. "Hey Zatanna what do you want for lunch?" He asked as she glanced up at him. "I think I can make us grilled cheese without burning the place down" he said cracking a smile at her.

     His apartment was a little hot and she looked like she was dying in her hoodie. "Do you wanna take that off or something? You're going to get heat exhaustion" he said as she shook her head with a hint of fear in her eyes. "So what have you been up to lately?" He asked as they sat at the table and ate their grilled cheese sandwiches. "Well I work at Millie's Diner in the morning and then I head to the other side of the City to babysit" she said as he raised an eyebrow. "What are you going to do for school?" He asked.

     Dick did recall that she wanted to go to school to become a grade school teacher. "Nothing. I can't go to school, I don't want to go to school" she said but he could tell she was lying. Living with a detective who trained you day and night taught him the difference between lying and the truth. "You're lying" he said giving her an intimidating glare. She shook her head and looker down. "Zatanna your a smart girl you love school" he said as she continued shaking her head. The heat was really starting to ger to her as she felt like suffocating.

     Abruptly standing up she took a couple steps before her vision became blurry and she collapsed. Dick shot up and ran to her side before picking her up. "Heat exhaustion" he muttered while shaking his head with a frown. Walking to the couch he gently put her down. Unzipping her hoodie he took it off. His eyes went wide; she had a tank top on but the amount of bruises littering her made him feel sick.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today was going to be a family day plus Conner. He offered to take her and Garfield to the farm he lived on for the day. It wasn't that far out of the City which wasn't that bad. The drive was calming as she sung along to the radio. Her and Conner were leaving for Gotham as well in two days. "Are there cows?" Gar asked from the backseat as Conner nodded. Megan smiled knowing the fascination her brother had with animals. "You excited?" He asked glancing over at his bubbly girlfriend as she nodded.
Megan loved cooking and baking so she was getting a degree in the Culinary Arts. Conner was going for the athletics to try and become a personal trainer. He enjoyed working out so that was a possible job he'd enjoy in the future. The Kent farm soon came into view as the drove onto the dirt road. His grandmother was outside watering the flowers on the porch when the car drove up. They stepped out as Megan got out and ran over to give Martha Kent a hug. She had been here a couple times with Conner and her and his grandmother were close.
Martha wrapped the girl in a hug before pulling away. "How are you sweetie?" She asked as Megan smiled. Garfield shyly walked up the steps and partially hid behind his older sister. He was never good when it came to meeting new people. "Oh I'm amazing!" She beamed as Conner walked up the steps to give his grandmother a hug. "How's my grandson?" She asked pinching his cheek as Conner groaned. "Who's this young man?" She asked as Gar peeked out at the old lady.
Megan smiled and pulled her brother out from behind her. "This is my brother Garfield" Megan said grinning from ear to ear. He shyly stuck out his hand as Martha shook it with a kind smile. "Your lucky you got here just in time for pie" Martha said as Garfield's eyes lit up. Megan giggled and ruffled his blonde hair as they walked inside of the house. While they were eating the door opened again as Clark and Jonathon Kent walked in. "Hey Dad" Conner said as Clark nodded in response.
Megan knew that Conner was kind of forced onto Clark but after a couple years their relationship blossomed. Clark now considered Conner his son. "When are you two flying out to Gotham?" Clark asked which caught everyone's attention. Garfield frowned remembering that his sister was leaving in two days. "Two days" Megan responded while taking another bite of her pie. They were staying the the dorms on campus. Conner in the guys dorm and Megan in the girls dorm. Both would still spend time with each other as much as possible.
When they finished the homemade pie Jonathon and Clark smiled. "We're going to put the boys to work in the barn be back later" Jonathan said while kissing his wife's cheek. Gar gave Megan a pleading look as she rolled her eyes and sent him off. "So how is the packing going?" Martha asked as the two sat outside on the porch drinking fresh glasses of lemonade. "I'm already finished but I'm not sure about Conner. That's why I came with him to check and then Garfield tagged along" she said as Martha smiled and nodded.
The two got along quite well as they talked about various things. A loud pained yell was heard as Megan immediately recognized it as Gar's. She shot up to her feet and ran down the steps. Running down the dirt path as walls of corn stood on either side. It lead to barn as Conner came running out with her baby brother in his arms. "What happened?!" She yelled in a distraught voice. Clark came running out as well as the two passed her. Running after them they all ran into the house.
Garfield was sat on the counter holding his arm which was covered in blood. "Gar what happened?" She asked while catching her breath. His green eyes were filled with tears as they began to spill down his cheeks. Martha came in with a first aid kit as she opened it up. "Conner!" Megan yelled as her boyfriend came walking in while taking a sip of water. "Please tell me what happened to my baby brother!" She demanded in a frightening voice. "We were in the barn and he was leaning against the door when his arm slipped. While he fell he sliced his arm on the saw" he said as she frowned looking over at Garfield who was fighting off oncoming tears.
