(01) gloriously cursed

The story started like this.

There was a girl, born into a family that had once held immense glory. Now, all they held was a powerful secret and locations of hidden vaults full of cursed weapons. The family wasn't even a complete family. There was just the girl's father and her living in their old, traditional house. The girl's mother had passed away during childbirth and had no other children.

The girl lived a good life, a normal life. Well, as normal as it could be for someone with immense cursed energy. But her father was a good man. He taught her control. He taught her how to manipulate her technique. After all, her's was just the same as his, only much better. Her father was a good man, she believed from the bottom of her heart and soul.

The belief disappeared when she was seven.

The girl played in the courtyard, happily lifting objects with her untamed cursed technique, unaware that today was the day everything would change. And in that one moment when her father came stumbling over, the devastating secret was burnt into her. It embedded itself into the depths of her soul, granting her powers she could not even use.

The belief that her father was a good man was gone, replaced only by pure hatred. The man had committed a grave mistake. It festered and festered, till one day he was completely cursed and fell so sick that he was left permanently confined to a hospital bed.

And that brings us to the present day.

The girl was now grown up. Her name? Ayase Hitomi, a jujutsu sorcerer in training at the Tokyo Jujutsu High. This is her story.

And I am that devastating secret.

Too much noise, too much chaos was what you should expect if you hung around the menace that is Gojo Satoru. Unfortunately, being his classmate, Hitomi was often (unintentionally) dragged into his shenanigans. Though, she was lucky that Yaga, their teacher, held a great amount of trust in her and believed in her a greater amount.

But today was a day where she and Geto had been dragged into Gojo's mess. The trio sat on their knees in Yaga's office, being yelled at by their teacher.

"And that's it! No more leniency will be given to you," Yaga spoke loudly, glaring in the direction of the boys, but specifically Gojo.

"Hey, why is she being let go this easily?" Gojo spoke, an annoyed look on his face. He was pointing right at Hitomi. "She's the one who started everything."

"Oh my god, you are such a liar!" She looked at him with a vicious glare. "You were the one who decided to handle things by yourself and then ended up destroying half the building! Don't pull me into your mess, you jerk!"

Geto looked like he was regretting going on this mission.

"Don't start fighting, you two!" Yaga said loudly, abruptly cutting off their battle of words. "The punishment for all of you is pretty simple. Satoru, you will write the report about this mission alone and make sure you include all of the reasons for which this went wrong. Suguru and Hitomi will check that report once you're done. And do not help him," He added, looking right at the latter.

Hitomi groaned loudly, facepalming. On top of the report she was already filing, she now had extra work. Great. Just so fucking great.

"Dismissed, all of you," Yaga said, waving his hand. "I need that report by evening."

With angry, grumbling noises, Hitomi and Gojo got up and left the room. Geto shook his head as he followed.

"I don't get why we have to do such boring work. Why can't we just ask one of the assistants to do it?"

Gojo whined as he plopped himself down on the table, letting his long arms hang over the edge. Hitomi was almost ready to whack him over with her pen. The keyword being almost, because Gojo being the annoying brat he is, would just block her strike. And although the empty classroom they had chosen was the perfect place to beat him up, Hitomi was damn sure Geto would not let her do that.

"The assistants already have things to do," She stated, scribbling away on her report. "Why in the hell should they have to do your work?"

"This is boring stuff, that's why," Gojo tapped the sheet on which the report was to be written. "I would much rather be out fighting curses."

"Just finish it," Geto spoke plainly. "The sooner you're done, the sooner all of us will be free."

"Yeah, you should listen to Geto," Hitomi said, barely looking up. "I mean, I'm done with mine. It didn't even take me long."

"So am I," Geto added. Gojo looked at both of them, let out a frustrated groan and grabbed a pen and finally got to work.

'Well isn't this amusing? He's such a whiny brat.' A familiar voice echoed through her mind and if she wasn't already annoyed, she was definitely annoyed now.

Hitomi closed her eyes the second he spoke. 'Izuki, what do you think you are doing? I thought I told you to stay inside.'

She could practically feel Izuki's pout. Even while being an ancient, almost god-like sorcerer, whose soul the Ayasaki clan had captured thousands of years ago, he happened to be very immature. Sometimes, she regretted that it was her soul that was Izuki's resting place. Then again, it was not like she ever had a choice in the matter.

'Come on, I've been stuck inside your soul for too long now,' Izuki almost sounded like he was begging. 'At least let me stay awake for a bit. I'm bored here and you don't even have any fun memories to look through.'

'Ouch, that hurts,' Hitomi silently expressed. 'You really need to learn some manners again. But fine. The next hospital visit is tomorrow. I'll let you stay out then.'

'Uggh, that's a terrible idea,' Now, Izuki's voice was full of disgust. 'You know how much I dislike your father.'

'I know, I hate him too. But if you want to stay out, that's your only chance,' She said. 'I can't risk anyone detecting your cursed energy.'

'You know, our cursed energies are one and the same, right? But okay. I'll accept this offer,' Izuki said. 'See you tomorrow, Ayase Hitomi.'

Izuki's presence disappeared from her mind, retreating back into the deepest part of her soul. Without opening her eyes, Hitomi knew her head was on her desk. She must have ended up dozing off, or at least appeared to be dozing off as she conversed with Izuki. That tended to happen a lot more than she would like to admit.

"Uggh, look at her dozing off," she heard Gojo say. "I can't believe she just fell asleep like that. I wanna draw on her face."

"Don't even think about it," Geto scolded. She had the slightest feeling that his arms were crossed. "You know how much you're gonna piss her off if you do that."

"Oh, she heard you," Hitomi stretched her arms as she sat up straight and let out a fake yawn. She was a master at those. "By the way, Gojo, if you even think about trying something like that, I'll just use my technique and float you so high up that you'll eventually die from a lack of oxygen."

Shocked to see her awake, Gojo jumped back and nearly fell off his chair. "Gah!"

Geto and Hitomi exchanged looks and then immediately burst into loud, raucous laughter. Then, as they always did, they forced Gojo to work and finish his report.

The process of getting someone as strong and as lazy as Gojo Satoru to complete a task was something else.

Hours later...it was actually just an hour, but when it came to Gojo, Hitomi tended to exaggerate things. But hours later, she was back in her dorm room. It was large and looked exactly like all the other dorm rooms in place and even had that small, little kitchen area near the entrance. She had not decorated it very heavily. There was nothing fancy to be found here, except for her expensive polaroid camera and the fancy chair she had kept next to the window.

After changing into a more comfortable t-shirt and pyjamas, Hitomi promptly collapsed on her bed. Staring up at the faded grey ceiling, she let out a yawn. She was tired. Exorcising curses was tiring work and because of the shortage of jujutsu sorcerers in the world, even first years such as her, Gojo and Geto were sent on missions after missions. She understood why Gojo and Geto had to go. After all, they were the rare few, actual special grade sorcerers. Hitomi was just one grade below them; she was a special grade 1 sorcerer. A powerful rank, but nothing compared to the special grade.

There was also the matter of her clan. Well, actually just the two people who were left. And you wouldn't call only two people a clan, would you? The Ayasaki clan had once been in the ranks of the Gojo, the Zenin and the Kamo clans, but that time was now long gone. The Ayasaki name had died out, replaced by a much simpler Ayase.

Only two remnants of a once-powerful clan with the knowledge of a thousand cursed weapons. Hitomi and her father. A man left cursed. A man she utterly despised. A man she was forced to see.

Tomorrow's hospital visit was going to be fun.

I love my little chaos trio 🥰

Hello hello! Now that the Jujutsu Kaisen Vol 0 movie trailer is out, I was inspired to post a chapter for my Gojo fic. The story starts a little bit before Gojo's past arc in the manga, so there will be a lot of spoilers in this. And a lot of angst too. I also am prewriting for this and I have a bunch of chapters already written, so except somewhat frequent updates.

And yeah, that's it for now. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Let me know your thoughts in the comments <3 <3
