Chapter 1

The waves crashed around me.  The sea spraying my hair. I gazed upon the rocky outcrop. It was ravaged by the sea's waves and currents for the past millennia. The sea curled and writhed as if in pain. Thunder crashed ahead. I took a deep breath, the salty air filled my nose. I looked over the edge of the cliff. 100 foot drop, just how I liked it. Then I dove.

The cold water met my skin as I collided with its frothing surface. I sank slowly to the bottom and onto a bed of seaweed.

You may be wondering if I'm dead or not, but the answer is, I can't die. My name is Perseus Jackson. Son of Poseidon and the mortal-turned Nymph Sally. I have been wondering the oceans by myself for almost a century, though I always return every few months or so to Long Island, where my mother lives. She lives with other nymphs in the lake at camp half blood. I visit her a few times a year, once in August, December, February and June. I was now visiting in June.

I pushed along the currents, zooming past entire cities of coral and sea creatures. I saw some hippocampus playing with orcas and some serpents chasing sharks. Fish frolicking in the anemones and the odd squid flash by. I was in the north coast of Ireland when I began to head towards Long Island. I loved the rough seas and chilling water. Past wrecks, through coves, through my father's palace and up the coast. As I arose slowly from the waters edge, I caught a glimpse of my mom on the rocks, partying with the other nymphs.

I ascended from the rough waves. Making a literal splash. I could see there were other campers littered around, enjoying my waves. I spotted a satyr with auburn curly locks and a pair of horns sprouting from his head. Grover. I waved at him and smiled he laughed before returning with his girlfriend, Juniper. I sat at the base of the rocks with my mom. Just talking. I felt the wind sweep my black hair out my face, my blue and black beach shorts were soaked but, I didn't care.

I dove into the water, leaping out, creating a show for the campers, large bursts of water erupted as the water danced to my will. The campers stared in awe. After a while, I stopped and the seas relaxed, the water going almost flat. I slowly walked on the surface, retuning back to my mom, when I spotted a glisten of gold.
