Where's the Doctor
Kuroo Hazama was an aspiring medical student, his greatest goal being to become a successful surgeon and to be able to save lives on a daily basis. Although he was not even licensed yet, he ha already performed numerous surgeries, some minor, some bigger. What is so surprising about him is the fact that his works are so close to perfection, meticulous techniques, fast thinking and deadly precision being combined all in one single person at such a young age.
At first glance he seemed like an eccentric weirdo, he didn't usually have any company and he was always holding his hands in positions as if he was currently operating a patient, sometimes even narrating what he was currently doing. His scarred face and two-coloured hair also gave him a bonus point in being strange, not like he minded it though.
Under all these layers of trying to be emotionless and maintaining neutrality, in fact, he was a very compassionate person who would risk their life just to save someone without hesitation if he needed to.
So there he was, sitting under a tree all by himself as usual. He was holding an open book but seemingly he was gazing into the void in front of himself, not even aware of his surroundings. It was kind of silent, a light breeze was shuffling the leaves of the tree also the young doctor's hair.
Suddenly, Kuroo could hear someone panting heavily and the sounds of footsteps. Slightly shaking his hair, he looked around and identified the person who was letting out these noises.
Maiko Okamoto, a medical intern was running towards him with a high velocity and for a moment, Kuroo was convinced that the female will crash into him. Maiko however had had similar experiences in the past so she knew exactly when to stop in order to avoid the accident.
"Patche-" she coughed "I mean, Hazama, of course. There is an emergency! We need you instantly in the OR!" she almost exclaimed.
"We?" he inquired with a puzzled look while getting up and heading towards the hospital with the young intern in a pace which could almost be considerated running.
"Well, your patient and me of course! His condition is nearly life-threatening and all the other surgeons are busy with operating others who were injured due to the accident which occurred today. The hospital is flooded with injured people but this boy is in the worst situation out of them all."she explained as quickly as she could.
"What happened to him?" Kuroo asked, trying to preserve his calmness. It was easy for him even in an emergency like this one.
"Oddly enough, it isn't related to the accident. He is suffering from severe appendicitis, he has lost his consciousness. The ambulance brought him in minutes ago and we don't even know his name yet." Maiko replied hastily.
"Then we have no time to waste." the male concluded and they both fastened their pace.
[...]
When Kuroo and Maiko have arrived, the OR was already prepared and all the necessary equipment was at hand. The male was lying on the operating table and his sudden but subtle movements depicted that he was slipping in and out of consciousness constantly. He finally was able to open his [e/c] orbs.
[F/N] was more than flabbergasted but him being too weak, he couldn't even turn his head to look at the two people who were currently hustling around him. He could make out a female and a much taller male silhouette, all dressed up like doctors. Then it all began to make sense. He looked at his torso and saw a thin fabric covering the upper part of it, his central and lower abdomen all being exposed. [F/N] was feeling cold and almost started to shiver when the doctors noticed him and the fact that he was at least able to perceive and analyse his surroundings.
Kuroo had been confident so far but when their eyes met, he was taken aback all of a sudden. The surgeon felt such sadness and sorrow reflecting through those intricate [e/c] eyes that he just couldn't help to stare at them. He had never ever felt anything like this before, as if there was an invisible connection between him and this unknown person who was about to be operated by him. Sure, he appreciates and takes care of all his patients but this one proved to be different... and they haven't even exchanged a word yet.
An impatient Maiko started to nag the young medical student, trying to bring him back to Earth.
"Hellooo, Hazama, don't stare at him like that! I get it, you like him, but now is not the time! Tell him what's going on before we lose him again! I hope you are not scared!" she whisper-shouted and pushed the unlicensed doctor closer to the table.
All those surgeries, all those dangerous operations, Kuroo always managed to keep it cool being the best possible example for people and even other doctors. Now, however, he was feeling like it's his first time seeing a sick person. This just couldn't be true, he sighed and a determined expression took over his face. Time to act professional! He could never risk this patient's well-being for his own astonishment.
"We have to operate you instantly because of your appendicitis, we got everything under control and the surgery will go smoothly so no need to worry." he introduced the situation to the puzzled boy who nodded weakly still not knowing how he got there though.
"You have fainted for multiple times, ambulance took you in not so long ago." Hazama added as if he could read minds somehow. "Anesthetics will be applied soon, hope you are prepared. Don't be scared, I am here to protect you." he then realized what he just said and could feel a slight blush creeping up on his cheeks. Thankfully the mask covered it completely, he wanted to hide anyway. Out of all things he could have said to ensure the patient about his safety, he had to say that! In front of the young female intern of course, who chuckled lightly at the doctor's comment. A sense of bashfulness started to take over him.
The patched doctor shot his 'assistant' a glare and she closed her mouth, not providing him with a cutting remark. Now, at least.
Kuroo focused at the human being he needed to help. The anesthetics finally took action and he was fast asleep. That was the moment when the doctor became mesmerized by his patient's [s/c] skin. It was not perfect but the little imperfections made it so unique ane exquisite he almost didn't want to cut through it thereby damaging it anymore, this was something beyond belief, like entering a restricted area and spoiling it.
The male appeared to be of his age, maybe a few yours younger than him, approximately 20 years old give or take. His body was not nearly as toned as the surgeon's but nevertheless it radiated attraction, lightening up the operation room.
"Let's begin the surgery." he decreed, putting an end to admiring the patient for the time being. Regaining his spirit and tenacity, he was ready to do anything he could for this stranger.
"Give me the scalpel."
[...]
"One more stitch..." Kuroo mumbled when he was about to finish patching up the wound. "And there. Done!" he noted, cutting the thin thread and put down everything in the destined utensils.
"Great job! You're a lifesaver as usual!" Maiko clapped, wiping the sweat off her forehead. The male did the same and examined the patient's sutures. Hope he won't mind them.
"We should take him in his room so he can rest. It's best if he stays in the hospital overnight so we can observe him and keep track of his healing.
Hazama could see her face drop even through the mask and this made him anxious.
"Uhm, you see... It's not that easy. I don't even think it's doable to be honest... It's already a miracle that I have managed to make this operation happen in the first place. I don't think I can do that much... It's illegal you know." she blurted in an apologetic manner.
Tension took all over the surgeon as he heard what the woman was talking about. He just nodded firmly.
"I understand, no problem. I will take him home with me then."
