(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was another peaceful and quite frankly, boring night in Hawkins as people were either asleep or awake for numerous reasons. (y/n) was one of those people who were still awake, unable to sleep. At this point, it was normal for her to not be able to sleep until her body forced her to pass out.

She sighs as she sat on her couch, working on some designs and calculations for the new StarCourt Mall while a film was playing in the background on her TV. The film playing was a thriller but she wasn't paying attention to it, nor her work. She was so fed up with it, throwing the papers on the coffee table that had her college textbooks also scattered on it.

She got up, exhausted in every way possible and went to her fridge to drink away her problems. Maybe she would visit the cliff again...

(y/n) shook her head as she looked at the bottle that was almost finished, not even having the strength to drink and placing it on the counter instead. She was just tired of everything at this point.

She ran her hands down her face, groaning softly when she heard soft knocking on her door. Now she knew that she told no one where she lived. No one knew her address so who was knocking on her door?

(y/n) cautiously ran up to her room to grab a bat, walking downstairs with it before peeking through the front door peephole. "Eddie!?" she swings the door open to see the man standing anxiously on her front door porch with a sheepish smile on his face, fidgeting with his rings as he held a bunch of papers in his hands.

"Hi (y/n)..."

"What are you doing here!?" Eddie blinks at her, noticing the redness in her eyes and the fact she was holding a bat, like she was ready to smack someone in the head. He blinks at her pjs which consisted of pants and a hoodie, feeling guilty that he might have just woken her up.

"I'm sorry for waking you up, I'll just go..." Eddie steps back, feeling guilty for annoying (y/n) but she grabs hold of his vest.

"Boy, get your ass in here! It's fucking cold outside!" he shrieks as (y/n) pulls him into his house, shutting the front door closed and locking it before setting the bat against the wall. "Now, why are you here?" Eddie was confused, looking over the couch at the lit lamp and the TV playing a film while papers were scattered over the coffee table.

"It's nothing, I can just go-"

"-you didn't wake me Eddie. I was already up." (y/n) sighs as she sits down on the couch.

"At 2 in the morning!?"

"I could ask you the same thing." she raises a brow at Eddie who nods in agreement. "Now are you just going to stand there gawking or are you going to tell me why you're here?" Eddie blanks at how blunt (y/n) was, a little harsher than she usually was during the day. She was sweet and understanding but right now, she was not putting up with anyone's shit.

"Sorry... I-I know you said that I could come to you when I need help with my classes and I know it's so late to be bothering you but I was panicking and I didn't know what to do and-"

"-Eddie, calm down. Just sit down and tell me straight. I'm not going to be mad." (y/n) sighs and the man cautiously sits down on the couch next to her, showing her the papers in his hands.

"I have a science project due this coming Monday... a big one. If I don't pass this class and bring my D up a grade, I'm not graduating."

"Eddie..." (y/n) whines out, facepalming and he felt even worse. "Why did you leave it last minute for fucks sake...?" Eddie frowns, feeling that (y/n) was disappointed in him. "Ok, what's the project and who's your teacher."

"It's just an experiment and the teacher is Rangers." and that's when (y/n) goes rigid, looking at Eddie with wide fearful eyes and he knew he was screwed.

"Rangers!? Boy, you done fucked up! She's gonna sniff out that this was done last minute and fail you! She's cruel!"

"I know! That's why I need your help! She's gonna string me up for dead!" Eddie whines out, flopping back on the couch.

"Oh my fucking god. Ok, we don't have time to actually do an experiment so we gonna bluff the results."

"How!?" Eddie gasps out and (y/n) gets up, heading to her bedroom with Eddie following her.

"I should have my past papers here somewhere. I had Rangers before but as a sub and she scared the shit out of me. You can use my experiment but change it up. She shouldn't be able to tell the difference." Eddie lets (y/n) sift through her stuff, looking around her room which was quite lively compared to the rest of the house that was somewhat empty.

She had shelves full of figures and books, photos and boxes stacked away at the bottom. Her room was monochrome and dark but somehow warm at the same time with a lamp shining a warm glow from the corner of the room. There were bags and backpacks on the shelves, jewellery and makeup packed up neatly on her vanity. Her bed was a mess though, the blanket was just haphazardly thrown about.

She has a minifridge!?

Eddie gawks at the minifridge next to her bed, impressed that she had one in her room. Now that was optimisation. Eddie sniffs around, his body easing with calm as he smelled that familiar floral scent that was stuck on (y/n) whenever she was near him. He felt warm and safe in this room.

"Found it!" she takes out a binder of her papers, waving her hand at Eddie to give her his papers and he does so she could match up the projects. "Damn, they really have no creativity. Reusing the same projects over and over." (y/n) takes out the exact same project Eddie had to do, setting the papers down on the floor in front of him and he sits down cross-legged.

"We need to take pictures of the experiment!?" Eddie gasps as he reads over what he needs to do. "We can't bluff pictures!"

"Then you just have to draw it!"

"I can't draw!"

"Too bad!" Eddie pouts, listening to (y/n) as she explains the project to him and what they need to do.

This was going to be a long weekend.

The two were sitting in (y/n)'s living room splitting the work on the project, Eddie reading over (y/n)'s project and her reading over the textbook she still thankfully had as a source of information. They worked long through the night, mostly (y/n) making sure Eddie did the work since he kept getting distracted by the film playing on the TV every 5 minutes. She would snap her fingers in front of his face to get him back to work but now, it had been almost over half an hour since she snapped Eddie away from the TV.

He blinks and shakes his head, realising he was watching the film and quickly turns around to apologise to (y/n) when he sees her dosed to sleep sitting up. "Shit-" he quickly moves over to grab her head when her body falls sideways, frozen still to not wake her up.

It was late, way too late for either of them to be awake and Eddie frowns at how exhausted (y/n) might be. He carefully brushes her hair away from her face, moving to pick her up quietly. His heart jumps when he hears her sigh softly, brushing her nose into his vest as he carried her to her bed to ruck her in. He froze for a bit as she turns around, hugging a pillow to her chest and he smiles at how cute she was before pulling the blanket up to her shoulders. He steps back, heading back downstairs to crash on the couch, not bothered to go home.

~~~~~~~~
(y/n) hisses lightly as she covered her eyes from the sun that filtered through her room, diving beneath the blankets to hide from the annoying brightness. She was still tired, tired and hungry. Her stomach rumbled even though she wanted to get more sleep, he remind fighting between what option to choose.
But since she was already awake, might as well get some food am I right? "Why am I so tired...?" she groans out, looking at the alarm clock next to her to see it was well past 11 am. Tying up her hair, she freshened up and brushed her teeth before heading downstairs to make some tea. Her soul almost left her body from the soft snoring she heard from the couch, peeking over to see that Eddie had crashed on the couch and she remembers what happened last night.
This kid...
She goes to the spare bedroom and grabs a blanket from the room, dragging it downstairs to drape it over Eddie. He sighs from the warmth while (y/n) took his shoes off and drops them next to the couch, going over to the kitchen to make some food.
