"Silverstream."

Ocellus was on the upper bed of the bunk bed they had shared in their room. She sniffed. Tears were on her face. She did not know why. She had found herself randomly thinking of being a Changeling, and it was from there that she had begun crying.

She was still crying, tears rolling down her cheeks as she sniffed. She was trying to block out all the negative thoughts, but it was just so hard. When she pushed away one, another came to immediately take its place, making her cry again, her tears never seemed to end.

No one was listening to her, she thought. No one could hear her. It was just her, and the demons in her head. She was crying for thirty minutes now, and there was still no one who had noticed. Her bed was wet, and she had to turn so often to find a dry enough spot.

She felt the bed squeak, but she was lying still, so it had to be Silverstream. Her eyes widened through the tears as her heart picked up pace. As much as she had wanted someone to talk to, she did not want Silverstream knowing. She did not want any of her friends knowing.

She stared at the dark room as a silhoutte of Silverstream's back slowly came into view. So she had awoken and stood up, probably to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Keep still, Ocellus, she told herself, don't let her know you're still awake and crying.

She watched as the sillhoutte of Silverstream slowly turned around and her eyes flickered around, wondering if there was a way to evade detection. She slowly turned her head and tried to bury it into the pillow, hoping that Silverstream had not seen the tears through the moonlight.

"Ocellus?" The Changeling's eyes widened as she surpressed a groan. So the Hippogriff did see her... Well, she could just pretend that she was actually asleep and maybe Silverstream would think that she was just seeing things, and they would not have to talk about it ever again.

"'Cellus, I know you're awake. I saw your eyes open. You probably don't want to talk, but I'm here and you'll have to," Silverstream said. Ocellus tried to surpress another groan. It seemed as if the Hippogriff knew everything about her and what she would do.

Ocellus begrudgingly lifted her head from the pillow and faced Silverstream who was flying in front of her. The Changeling slowly got up, her crying already had stopped, but her tears were still on her cheeks. She hopped down the top bunk bed and sat down on the bottom part, looking at the floor and hiding her face from the Hippogriff.

"Why were you crying?" Silverstream asked in a soft voice, being extremely patient with the Changeling. Ocellus sniffed. So the Hippogriff did realise that she was crying. Great. She slowly turned her head to face Silverstream, but still not quite meeting her eyes.

"I just randomly thought of being known as a Changeling and then I started crying..." Ocellus began, her voice breaking as she felt more tears forming at the corner of her eyes, but she tried to fight them off. "I know a lot of you are accepting, but I still could not help but cry..."

Silverstream gives a weak smile as she walks over to their bedside table where a tea set lay. She peaked at the teapot. It still had water inside of it. She gave a small smile as she turned around to face Ocellus, the teapot held in her claw. She walked over to the Changeling and held the teapot out.

Ocellus gave a weak smile as she turned into a dragon and gave the teapot a weak and well-aimed breath of flames. Silverstream smiled and walked back over to the small bedside table and placed a teabag in and then waited until it was ready before pouring both her and the Changeling two full steaming cups of tea.

She grabbed the two cups and walked back to Ocellus and gave her one with a small smile, knowing that it would calm the Changeling down. She had also added extra sugar for herself because sugar just made everything better for her. She lifted the cup to her beak, but then stopped.

"It's nor your fault, you know?" Silverstream said, turning to face Ocellus with a reassuring smile. The Changeling just gave an empty laugh which also seemed like a sigh as she turned away and continued to sip her tea in peace. Silverstream frowned. "I mean it"

"It's not your fault you're a Changeling and some creatures seem to hate you," Silverstream said as she brought up her cup to take a sip of tea. "It's Chrysalis'. Stupid Chrysalis." Silverstream shook her head as she placed the cup back down and tried to balance it on her hind hooves.

"The villains are always the reason for everything," Silverstream said, shaking her head, then turned to face Ocellus with an odd sort of look. She seemed quite determined for something, in a scary sorr of way. "How dare them make you feel this way," she spat.

Silverstream set her cup down on the floor and she knew that there was a huge chance of it being kicked over and maybe even broken but she did not care. She had a friend to cheer up. A very special friend. A friend who deserved the world. A friend whom she really loved...

Silverstream scooted over to Ocellus, immediately finding warmth radiating from the Changeling's body. She liked it. She reached over and hugged the blue Changeling and smiled through the hug. She liked hugging Ocellus. It was nice. It was warm. It had all sort of positive and fuzzy feelings.

Ocellus stopped sniffing as she leaned into the hug. It was nice. She felt at home. Thoughts of being a Changeling were still stalking her, but she decided that she could not let it get to her. She was going to be alright. She was with Silverstream. She was safe. She was fine.

She felt the Hippogriff slowly let go of her. She watched as the Hippogriff, walked over to the shelf full of books that she kept in their room and picked up a book. She recognised the cover. It was her favourite. It had no lovers. Just a simple book about friendship.

She was sitting in her bed as she watched Silverstream walk back to the bunk beds and handed her the book. Ocellus smiled. Reading did really calm her down. She adjusted herself, with her back against some pillows, leaning against the wall. Silverstream settled in right beside her.

The Hippogriff buried her head in the crook of the Changeling's neck and Ocellus could feel her face being painted a light tint of rose and tried to fight it off as she opened the book. She started reading. The book had really good descriptions, she had to admit, and it was one of her favourite parts about it.

She had different books for different moods, if she were being honest. This particular book had always helped her through rough times. At the same time, Silverstream was practically cuddling her. She felt a small smile enter her face, as well as a blush. Then she remembered something.

"Silverstream... There's... going to be a Changeling gathering this week, and I'm really nervous," Ocellus said in a small voice, not knowing if the Hippogriff was asleep already, seeing as Silverstream's breathing became even and slow. She hoped she was asleep. She did not want to bother anyone else with her problems.

"You'll be fine, Ocellus. I believe in you," Silverstream said, and if the Hippogriff wasn't cuddling her, Ocellus would've jumped. Her eyes widened as she turned to face the pink Griff. The blue-maned Griff was giving her a reassuring smile that seemed to light up the room.

"You're strong. You're smart. You're kind. You're nothing like those bad Changelings, and I'm sure everycreature knows that. Otherwise, I'll make them know that," Silverstream said with such a determination in her voice that it scared Ocellus, but she was also really grateful Silverstream care this much.

Silverstream removed her head from Ocellus, making the Changeling give a small sigh of relief as her face slowly returned to its normal light blue complexion again. She watched as the Hippogriff removed the shell necklace from her neck, with a piece of the Pearl hanging in the middle.

Ocellus' eyes widened, wondering why Silverstream was doing this. It belonged to the Hippogriff and if she were to take it off, her family would no doubt be concerned. Besides, the pink Griff herself seemed reliant on the necklace, it being an object to help calm herself down.

Ocellus opened her mouth to ask something but the Hippogriff raised her claws above the Changeling's head before lowering it down. She watched as the necklace descended slowly until it fell at her neck and stayed there. She looked at it curiously.

"This will keep you safe, alright, Ocellus? It's going to prevent all those negative thoughts from entering your brain. Just think of me, alright? I'll make it okay," Silverstreams said, making the Changeling look up. The Hippogriff was smiling wide, light seeming to radiate from her.

Ocellus felt her cheeks going a slight shade of rose. Silverstream's smile truly was amazing, and made her feel like everything would be okay. The Changeling clutched the necklace in her hoof. Maybe everything would be okay. A part of Silverstream would be with her anyway.

"Why did you give this to me?" Ocellus asked in a small voice as she looked at the necklace, still in major disbelief. She looked up to see Silverstream smiling, but the smile had hidden a little bit of guilt in it. The Hippogriff was good at hiding that. It was more or less her specialty.

"Because... I... want you to have it for your little get-together. I know you're going to face some negative thoughts so don't even try denying that, and hopefully this necklace helps you through it," Silverstream said, smiling genuinely at the Changeling, making her blush a little bit as the Hippogriff cuddles her again.

"This has helped me a lot before, and is practically a part of me at this point, but I also want it to help you, and for you to have a part of me," Silverstream says, still cuddling the red-faced Changeling. Ocellus was at a loss for words for once. She felt... really warm and fuzzy inside.

"Thank you..." Ocellus said, trailing off. She was at a serious loss of words. Something that was so important to the Hippogriff culture, so important to Silverstream, it had been given to her for a short while. She smiled as she continued to stare at the necklace, with the Hippogriff hugging her.

"Come on. Let's go to the school kitchens. I know you could use a chocolate chip cookie," Silverstream said, removing her arms from the Changeling and slowly standing up. Ocellus let go of the necklace and let it dangle on her neck as she stood up herself, smiling.

Ocellus smiled as they both walked over to the door that lead to the hallway, the wooden floor creaking a little bit as they walked. They threw the door wide open slowly and carefully trying not to make any sound and rushed to the school kitchens, racing past all the doors until they made it.

"Alright. Egg, butter, flour, white and brown sugar, baking powder," Silverstream said as she examined each jar on the cupboard, passing the ones they needed to Ocellus who had started opening them and measuring the exact amount they would need to make the cookies.

"Eggs and butter," Ocellus muttered to herself as she placed the eggs and butter in the same bowl and grabbed a whisk and began whiskong them. Eventually, Silverstream came up behind the Changeling and grabbed her hoof which was holding the whisk, making her blue face turn rose for the slightest moment.

"Let me help you there!" Silverstream said with a smile as she began guiding the Changeling's hoof as they stirred through the butter and eggs, the blue face only getting redder. They had baked together before on countless occassions, but never like this. She had to admit... it was nice.

"How much flour and baking powder again?" Silverstream asked, as she removed her claw for a while and moved to the flour and baking powder. Ocellus tried not to look disappointed, but a small frown managed to make its way onto her face. She liked it when they were whisking together.

"2/3 cup of flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder," Ocellus said over her shoulder as she kept whisking, the butter and eggs slowly mixing together. It was slow and frustrating. Silverstream moved over and started sifting the flour slowly into the batter and the Changeling had to step aside for them both to have space. Then the Hippogriff brought the two sugars.

"How much chocolate chips?" Silverstream asked once the batter had began to stick to each other and become less liquid. The Hippogriff walked over to the chocolate chips. Ocellus opened her mouth to speak but then stopped because she should've known better when she realised the Hippogriff was already walking over with the tupperware full of chocolate chips and just dumped it all into the batter.

Silverstream took the bowl from Ocellus, receiving no complaint from the Changeling. She smiled and giggled as she watched fhe Hippogriff take the batter into her claws and began mixing the chocolate chips through it. The blue Changeling was sure that there were way more chocolate chips than dough in it but she decided not to say anything about it.

Silverstream then passed some of the dough over to Ocellus and they began shaping the dough into little balls. The Changeling narrowed her eyes with a playful smile as she watched the Hippogriff take a bite of the raw dough. The pink Griff's eyes widened as she realised she had been caught. Ocellus giggled before returning to a more concerned stare.

"Silly... Didn't I tell you all those other times that it fould be dangerous?" Ocellus said with a little bit of exasperation laced with her voice. She sighed as the Hippogriff still remained quite and gave the pink Griff a quick peck on the cheek, and immediately turned away.

"You're lucky I love you," Ocellus said as she turned away, facing the batter. She tried hard to concentrate on separating the dough into tiny little balls. Her mind was in a flurry. She did not know why she had did that. She started being filled with an anxiety of what was to be said.

Most of her wanted the whole situation to pass, and maybe it would. Maybe she was making a whole big deal outta nothing, but she knew it was not nothing. She just kissed one of her best friends who seemed to really care about her on the cheek. It could surely be nothing, right?

But then a small part of her wanted Silverstream to say something about it. What exactly she wanted her to say, she did not know. All she knew was that she wanted her to say something about it, so that she'll have something to bounce back, and then it will keep bouncing back and forth until something starts.

Ocellus subtley shook her head. She was probably making a big deal out of this. The most she should ask for is letting the situation pass. Besides, would Silverstream ever be interested in a creature like her? She thought she was not exactly the perfect match for Silverstream.

There were so many creatures out there who were probably much better matches for her. Ocellus told herself that she was not going to be jealous and would support whoever Silverstream would end up with as long as the relationship was happy and healthy. If her friend was happy, then she would be, too. She was sure about that.

Ocellus finally finished separating the chocolate chip cookies and placed them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. She transformed into a Dragon and breathed fire on it. Maybe she was abusing her Changeling powers, but they were sometimes useful, and she wasn't about to waste that.

"Do you hate me? What did I do wrong?" Ocellus heard Silverstream say in a small voice behind her. The Changeling's eyes widened as her body stiffened. She knew she was ignoring the Hippogriff after that small peck on the cheek, but she did not think it was bad enough that the pink Griff would actually be offended.

"I don't hate you, Silverstream... In fact... It's the whole opposite... A-And... I thought you would hate me after that," Ocellus said as she sighed and turned around to face Silverstream, but she was looking at the wooden floor below them, not quite meeting the Hippogriff's eyes.

"I would never hate you, Ocellus. I can't hate you. In fact... It's the whole opposite," Silverstream said in such a sweet voice that the Changeling found it in her to slowly raise her head and meet the Hippogriff's violet eyes. The pink Griff smiled and began walking towards Ocellus, arms outstretched.

The next thing Ocellus knew that she was in a hug again, safe in the Hippogriff's arms. The Changeling smiled through the hug as she hugged back. It felt nice. Much nicer than last time. The hug seemed much more passionate now, the two creatures leaning into each other for support.

Silverstream was the first to break away and she turned to face the cookies which were still hot, but not too hot that it was not really safe to eat yet. Ocellus smiled as she rolled her eyes lovingly. Of course the Hippogriff would be tempted easily by the chocolate chip cookies.

"Shorry..." Silverstream said as she chewed on her chocolate chip cookie. It was crumbling away quite easily. Ocellus smiled as she took her own cookie and found that it also began to crumble away. She supposed it was because of the insane ratio of chocolate chips to the actual dough.

"I think we should be heading back now," Ocellus said after she had eaten half a dozen small cookies. She held her stomach, satisfied. She was not yet full, but there was definitely some food and extra weight inside her now. She was grateful she was not too full to sleep, or maybe she actually was.

"You shink sho?" Silverstream asked, stuffing more cookies in her mouth, the crumbs getting everywhere. Ocellus bit her lip and shook her head with a smile, laughing lovingly. The Hippogriff was probably already on her twelfth cookie, maybe even more if she could have managed it.

"Yeah... And please stop eating, Silverstream. We need to sleep and we still have classes later, and it's bad to have too full of a stomach before sleeping," Ocellus said, having to wrestle away the cookies that the Hippogriff still attempted to pop into her mouth and maybe even smuggle.

"Alright," Silverstream said, doing an angry little pout as she finally gave into submission. Ocellus took one of the free tupperwares that the school allowed them to use when they needed it and stuffed the rest of the cookies inside. She giggled a bit at the Hippogriff's longing look before they both left.

They slowly made their way back to their dorms, the walk back seeming to be much shorter than the walk there. It was still dark but the moon was shining brightly. They tried hard not to giggle or step on a creaky plank of wood to avoid waking anyone up. They knew the rules were quite lax here, but not that lax.

They stopped for a short while at the garden surounded by four buildings if the school. The garden had always been the favourite spot for most students, no matter who they were. Ocellus had never been able to see how the garden looked at during the night, and she had to admit it was pretty.

They had finally made it to their room and carefully closed the door. The moon was still shining bright, it's rays entering the window. Ocellus contenplated as she looked at their shared bunk bed. She was feeling better now, that was for sure, but she was still a little shaken up.

"You wanna sleep with me tonight?" Silverstream asked, almost as if she were able to read the Changeling's thoughts. Ocellus smiled and nodded. She was glad that the Hippogriff could easily sense what she was feeling. She wasn't exactly the most eager to convey her emotions.

Silverstream moved a bit in the lower bunk bed, making space for the Changeling. Ocellus smiled as she nested on the bed, wrapped in a warm blanket, then wrapped by the Hippogriff. This felt nice. Maybe everything was going to be okay. With hopeful thoughts keeping her company, she drifted off to sleep.

I am not going to fucking sleep this early. Just let me fucking read!
