Next Fall

High up in Yakyakistan lives a little Yak named Yona. Well... not that she is little. Yak are known to be pretty big compared to ponies, and that is why little ponies are intimidated by them. Which leads every Yak to wonder why five other creatures even decided to visit.
"Wowza! Yakyakistan is such a place!" a pink Hippogriff named Silverstream exclaims. She wears a blue and white scarf around her neck and a bonnet on top of her head.
A blue Griffin looks at an orange Dragon teasingly.
"Yakyakistan too cold for your little dragon scales?" Gallus asks. He is wearing a cozy little sweater that Grandpa Gruff knitted himself. Gallus doesn't know which surprises him more, the fact that Grandpa Gruff can actually knit, or the fact that Grandpa Gruff actually knitted a sweater for him.
"Of course not," Smolder lies, her teeth chattering. Even after wearing two layers of sweaters, four layers of scarves and two layers of gloves, she still feels cold.
"Well, I am definitely really cold," Sandbar admits. His body is shaking a lot, even though he wears more layers compared to Smolder.
"Yakyakistan is the farthest settlement in the north that was discovered," Ocellus says, reading from her book. She's also wearing a simple sweater.
"Yona so glad friends enjoy Yakyakistan!" Yona says. The six friends walk around its outskirts for a while, until they come across a mountain cliff. The five friends immediately run to it. It overlooks the rest of Equestria. The view is breathtaking.
"Look at that tiny spot in the distance! That's Mount Aris!" Silverstream shouts.
"Is that the Dragon Lands over there?" Smolder asks, raising her eyebrows and crossing her arms. It is amazing, being able to see everything.
"And look! That's the Changeling Kingdom!" Ocellus shouts, "Approximately 13.5 degrees south, and 124.75 degrees west!"
"Don't be such an egghead, Ocellus," Gallus says, but he, too, is captivated by the sight. He could see Griffinstone, the little town he grew up in.
"And there's Ponyville!" Sandbar shouts. If there's any place all of them can call home, that place is Ponyville.
And Yona just stays behind. Her face shows worry for them. Her heart feels heavy. And she is debating whether or not to do something. She decides not to.

As the six friends walk back to Yona's house, they chat excitedly about how great Yakyakistan is.
"It never snows in Mount Aris!" Silverstream says, "Snow is the best!"
"Awww... It's a shame you haven't seen much snow before," Ocellus says, "You should really try ice skating. It's fun"
And that's exactly what they do next.

Silverstream does a perfect double axle. She jumps, then spins around two and a half times, then gracefully lands back on the ice, as gentle as a swan.
Ocellus is having trouble keeping up with her, but she doesn't attempt to do anything out of her level just yet. After a while, she waves at Silverstream and calls for a break. She skates over to the side of the pond and reads her book about figure skating.
Smolder idly stands by, not stepping on the ice. She, especially, doesn't experience much snow, and has never tried ice skating before, despite her friends bugging her about it each time just before winter break, but she has always wanted to be an amazing figure skater, and she jealously eyes Silverstream, skating without an effort. It is hard to believe that it is the Hippogriff's first time.
Everything whizzes past as Gallus skates on the ice. Unlike most of his friends, he prefers speed skating over figure skating. He quickly races past Silverstream, who stumbles, not yet used to speed skaters.
"Sandbar sure Pony doesn't want to wear helmet?" Yona asks, before she and Sandbar will enter the frozen lake. She looks at the lake. Usually, ice doesn't scare her, but thinking of her friends slipping is horrifyingly, even if it just caused a small bruise.
"I'm sure I don't need one, Yona," Sandbar replies, pushing away the green helmet Yona is offering him. Yona gives a pout.
"But last time, Pony and Silverstream were having lots of trouble," Yona says.
"And that was last time. I'll be fine now," Sandbar gives Yona a promising look, then skates onto the ice.
Yona closes her eyes. She breathes in through her nose, and out through her mouth, an exercise that Professor Applejack has taught her. Sandbar will be just fine. Everything will be just fine.
      Until it isn't.

It all happens so fast. A blue blur called Gallus has collided with a green one. Afterwards, Sandbar sits in the middle of the lake and lets out a loud scream. His leg has been broken.
Yona curses at herself as she skates over.
"Hurry! Friends must bring Sandbar to Yak doctor before situation get any worse!" Yona says. Silverstream looks at her, pitying her friend, then grabs one of Sandbar's front legs. Ocellus takes the other one and gives Yona an encouraging smile. Even though this entire thing may be minor, maybe there isn't even a fracture at all to begin with, she knows how much Sandbar means to Yona and she doesn't want to see her large friend upset.
Ocellus and Silverstream look at Smolder expectantly. Smolder returns it with a look of confusion.
"What?" Silverstream asks her, "You aren't going to help carry Sandbar?"
With a defeated huff, Smolder grabs the last of Sandbar's legs and they all fly to the local Yak doctor.

When the Yak doctor said, "Yaks best at healing!" The Young 6 thought it would be a joke. Not wanting to sound rude, which means that he does sound rude, Gallus says, "Yeah... I don't think so. Whenever Yak say that they're the best at something, they usually aren't"
The rest of the Young 6 stare at Gallus, mentally scolding him. The gentle Yak doctor, however, seems unfazed by the disrespect to her and continues to work on Sandbar's leg. When Sandbar comes out, he walks on all four hooves, completely proving Gallus wrong.
"Wha-?....?" Gallus asks, alarmed, and at a loss for words. The Yak doctor chuckles gently.
"Do not judge me by stereotypes," the Yak doctor says, speaking in a fluent English.
"Thank you again, doctor," Ocellus says, then quickly ushers Gallus out before he can say anything else disrespectful.
"H-Hey!" Gallus shouts. The rest of his friends laugh, then follow right behind them, waving a goodbye to the doctor.

"Another thing you should definitely do on a cold mountainous area is skiing!" Smolder excitedly holds her skis on top of a mountain. Yona looks down fearfully. If her friends fall...
"Let's race!" Smolder says, snapping the Yak out of her thoughts. She prepares herself on her own skis, bigger than the rest, an average Yak ski.
"5..." Smolder looks hopefully at the path down. Dangerous and fun.
"4..." Silverstream excitedly clasps her claws together. It's going to be one exciting voyage!
"3..." Ocellus checks all her safety gear, making sure that they are placed properly and are secure. She looks at her book on skiing one last time.
"2..." Sandbar gives Yona a promising look. He silently promises that he'll be careful this time.
"1..." Yona feels hopeful. Maybe none of her friends will get hurt after all.
"GO!" Gallus shouts, then skis ahead.
"Hey!" Ocellus shouts as the rest of the Young 6 follow behind her. Quickly tucking away her book, she joins them.
Despite how long she spent in Yakyakistan, Yona has never skied here before. In fact, she has never heard of skiing before. All Yak do are smashing things, which in itself is fun, but not as fun as hanging out with her friends. Or skiing for that matter. She loves the way the wind blows on her fur. She loves the breathtaking scenery. Up ahead, she can see a tall cliff. She is not alarmed at first, but as she got closer, she realizes that Yak are tossing their things right on the edge of the cliff. If it gets heavy enough, there could be an avalanche. Yona gets ready to call out to her friends, but it is too late. It happens.

The Young 6 sit in the office of the same Yak doctor who healed Sandbar.
"Yona so sorry! Yona was going to warn friends about avalanche, but Yona too late," Yona says.
"Aww... It's okay, Yona", Ocellus says, then decides to makes small talk with Yak doctor. She finds comfort in the doctor. She is smart and can speak English well. Smolder, meanwhile, angrily walks to Yona.
"You knew that the avalanche was coming and you didn't warn us?! What kind of friend would do that?! One of us could have been seriously injured, and that's no laughing matter," Smolder angrily confronts Yona. That brought Yona to tears.
"Yona so sorry!" she says, "But Yona doesn't want to be responsible for warning friends"
"Even so, you need to be responsible" Smolder grumbles.
"Yona doesn't want to be!" Yona shouts. Smolder rolls her eyes.
"What's so wrong with that?" she asks the Yak.
"Because when Yona was little Yak, Yona always go out and play with brother Yak and sister Yak," Yona starts explaining, "And brother Yak and sister Yak and Yona decide to play on cliff. Brother Yak nearly fall! Yona feel so guilty!"
"Oh...," Smolder says, speechless, and takes a step back. Silverstream flies beside her friend and gives her a great big hug.
"Ngaw... It's okay, Yona!" Silverstream says, "We understand"
"I'm so sorry you felt that way," Sandbar says, joining in on the hug.
"It's okay, Yona. You're a good creature. You didn't want us to get hurt," Ocellus says, hugging Yona as well.
Even Gallus tries to comfort his friend. "It was a pretty tough time for you, wasn't it?" he says, then pats Yona.
The Young 6 look at Smolder expectantly.
    Smolder groans then hugs Yona.

After Smolder has officially forgiven Yona, the Young 6 decide to take on another fun winter activity.
"Snowball fight!" Smolder yells as she throws a snowball to the opposing team. Ocellus hides behind a wall she and her teammates built, avoiding Smolder's snowball.
"Oh, I'm going to get you!" Sandbar shouts at Smolder. He aims at her, but his snowball hits an unsuspecting Silverstream instead. Gallus sees the snowball hit her and glares at Sandbar.
"No one does that to Silverstream!" Gallus shouts and tosses a snowball that's slightly bigger than a buckball with such force. Yona immediately steps in front of Sandbar.
"Yona will not allow Gallus to hurt Sandbar!" Yona shouts.
The two teams start expanding their base. Ocellus starts off into the woods, and she doesn't see ditch in front of her.
"Ocellus! Stop! Ditch in front of Changeling!" Yona shouts, running after her. Ocellus abruptly stops.
"Gee, thanks, Yona," Ocellus offers a smile.
Yona beams back at her and gives her a tight hug.
"Yona will do anything to keep friend safe"

Omigosh omigosh omigosh omigosh.
Surprise update, everyone! Now that my holiday break has started, I had way more free time on my hands and I spent them working on this One-Shot Book. Consider this as my Heart's Warming present to you all! ❤
Now that we've got that aside, I'd like to set a few rules

So... I'm a lazy person and will not edit anything unless you leave a comment on the part you want me to edit. If the chapter is not made for your request, I will rarely accept changes to the scenes or plot itself. I will mostly attend to grammar edits.
So now that we have that aside, I wish you a pleasant Heart's Warming and keep spreading the Magic of Friendship!
