Magic Fair

"Silverstream and Gallus!" Starlight Glimmer announces. The pink unicorn has gotten a little more used to being the headmare of the school. She planned something for the students. Something big. A magic fair. Or to be more precise, the Magic of Friendship Fair when students will be showcasing the magic of friendship, or just magic. She just finished announcing all the pairs of students.

"Me and Silverstream! Again! Why?!" Gallus dreadfully shouts. He hides his face in his claws. Silverstream looks at him.

"Am I a bad partner?" she asks.

"No. It's not that. It's just that, I never got to be with any of you guys, and it sucks," Gallus gestures to his friends. They all know that he's right. It does suck.

"Well, there's nothing Griffin can do now," Yona says. Gallus sighs. The students walk out of the auditorium, chatting about what they will do for the magic fair as they walk to their next class. Silverstream's next class is Laughter Class, a class that she shares with only Gallus. She frowns, but then reminds herself that they will be able to plan ahead for the magic fair.

"I know you all have the magic fair to prepare for, so we're going to think of how to make your project fun!" Pinkie Pie says, "I am open for questions and you may start... NOW!"

The pink Pony starts skipping around the room, right past Gallus and Silverstream.

"What do you think we should do for it?" Gallus asks.

"Whatever you want," Silverstream replies, clutching her two claws together. Gallus groans and starts writing down some ideas on paper.

"Do you have any ideas?" Gallus asks. Silverstream places her claw on her chin.

"Hmmm...," she says, then lights up, "I have absolutely no idea!"

Gallus rolls his eyes and continues writing ideas.

It seems like she never wants to contribute her creativity during group projects, Gallus thinks to himself. He is used to Silverstream acting like this during group projects, but he wonders why. Silverstream is a very skilled artist. She should definitely have a nest of bright ideas. Speaking of bright ideas, he runs out of it.

The white sheet of paper stares at him unblinking. Only less than a quarter of it is filled. The paper bores into his soul, teasing and mocking him for only being able to come up with this much.

"Hiya, Gallus! Watcha thinking?" Pinkie Pie suddenly says from over his shoulder. He let out a startled gasp and stumbled on his side. The Earth Pony giggles.

"You're supposed to be writing ideas, silly!" Pinkie says, "So watcha got there?"

Gallus hands Pinkie his short list of ideas. As PP reads it, she frowns. Gallus looks at Silverstream. Please help me, his eyes say. Silverstream just smiles.

During their Loyalty Class, Gallus and Silverstream sit on the floor. Gallus writes more ideas down on the paper and occasionally asks Silverstream for her opinion, but all she does is just shrugs.

She looks around nervously. The other students are hard at work with their projects. Some are already getting started on doing them. Yona and Smolder prepares a tea party with spiders, and it all is coming together quite nicely. Ocellus and Sandbar's sharing questionnaires are filled with questions that really make you think.

"Oh, Gallus," Silverstream says, "All the other students' projects are so amazing! Ours will be nothing compared to theirs!"

Gallus let out a sarcastic laugh. "Yeah, if you don't want to help me," he murmurs to himself.

"What?" Silverstream asks in an annoyed tone.

"Oh, nothing. I just thought of creatures being mean to each other until they get used to it," Gallus lies. But that is what he plans for his project. Their project. Which Silverstream seems content on not helping on it.

Silverstream's face turns sour, but then she puts on a smile.

"Well, do whatever you want!" Silverstream says.

"Ah know ya'll have diff'rent ideas for the magic fair, so during Honesty Class, ya'll gonna go through all yer ideas honestly," Professor Applejack tells her students. The students are scattered around the barn, some looking nervous to share their honest opinions. Meanwhile, a specific pair seems keen on lying their way through it all.

"So I'm perfectly fine without your help" Gallus is the master of sarcasm, so he can get this all over with as easy as (Pinkie) Pie. He adds a fake smile for effect.

"Well, I'm perfectly fine with what you're doing. It's not like the other students are doing better than us," Silverstream says.

"Gallus! Silverstream!" Professor Applejack shouts, walking to them, "Ah don't reckon ya'll ain't bein' honest to each other?"

Gallus and Silverstream chuckle nervously. It's like the orange Earth Pony is a trotting lie detector.

"Gallus, somethin' 'ere is clearly botherin' ya," she says, "Spit it out"

"Gah! Fine," Gallus looks at Silverstream with dejected eyes, "Silverstream, I hate how you're not helping me right now. We could be so much more. You can be so much better, but no. Even though you can do everything, you leave it all to me!"

Gallus doesn't mean it to come out that way, buy it did. He immediately covers his beak. Silverstream just sits back, on the verge of tears. She can't even look at him.

"I-I'm s-s-sorry, Gallus," she starts sobbing uncontrollably, "I-I-It's j-just that I-I know t-t-that I w-won't b-b-be able t-to h-h-help a-at all"

"HOW CAN YOU NOT BE ABLE TO HELP AT ALL!?"

That stops Silverstream from crying. Instead, she flies away, sadness still plastered on her face. Gallus' claws drop down on his legs and his head hangs low.

"Me and my big stupid mouth," he mutters, then flies to the door. He looks at Professor AJ, his eyes saying, I'm sorry, then leaves.

Silverstream draws a piece of paper within a piece of paper within a piece of paper within...... She lies down on her stomach, in the school garden.

Gallus flies laps around the room. He times himself, hoping that he will beat his quickest time. He uses his anger to fuel his wings when he flies.

Gallus and Silverstream get teleported into a room together. They sit on a soft couch, and bookshelves line the walls, but only half of it is filled with books. The other half is filled with mystical contraptions. Somecreature clears her throat. They turn to see Headmare Starlight Glimmer, who smiles at them.

"I think I am done here," the unicorn says, then leaves the room.

They turn their attention to a blue unicorn seated in front of a desk. They can't help but notice that a plant is stuffed in the garbage bin. They turn their attention to Professor Applejack, who is standing next to the desk, who is beaming, but her eyes aren't.

"Ahm might glad ya two are bein' honest, and ah think Guidance Counselor Trixie can take it from 'ere," Professor Applejack respectfully nods to the unicorn with white hair, and exits the room.

"So... Gallus... Silverstream... you two clearly hurt each other's feelings," Trixie says. It is met with silence.

"What?" Trixie asks.

"That's kind of harsh," Silverstream replies.

"But it's the truth," Trixie says.

"I'm sorry..." Silverstream says.

"Now I don't think it's me you have to apologize to," Trixie says, "But I want you two to talk things out calmly. Gallus, you first"

Gallus crosses his arms and sighs. He stares at the wall on his right, refusing to meet Silverstream's eyes.

"Sorry, Sil, but I'm just really frustrated. I don't want to do this on my own. I can't do this on my own. And I hate having to cope with the everything," Gallus says.

Silverstream starts to cry. Tears release from her eyes, one by one.

"I'm sorry, Gallus. It's just that I really don't think I'll be able to help," she says, then she prepares herself for the possible burst of anger from Gallus. Surprisingly, Gallus keeps his calm.

"But how can you not be able to help? You're great at being creative," Gallus says.

Silverstream sniffs. "Yeah, but, I'm afraid I might mess up"

"Why are you afraid of messing up?"

Silverstream breathes in deeply and gets ready to explain. "Back in Mount Aris, I was in charge of the pearl, but when it was stolen by Tempest Sha-"

"It's Fizzlepop Berrytwist, dearie," Trixie says after sipping some empathy cocoa from her mug, "It hurts us reformed villains if you call us by our villain names"

Silverstream sniffs again. "When Fizzlepop Berrytwist stole the pearl, I scarcely trusted myself ever again"

Gallus has nothing to say to this. He just stares blankly at her. Trixie takes a deep breath and thinks.

"You know what we reformed villains hate about ourselves?" Trixie asks, "It's that we could've been a better creature. And when we get reformed, the hardest thing is getting past that. Getting past our regrets"

Silverstream dries the tears from her eyes and looks at Trixie. She is a huge fan of the the Great and Powerful, actually. It is a lie to say that she is complaining about Trixie sharing her thoughts to their little group.

"But how do you forget about it? You obviously know it's hard," Silverstream says. Trixie smiles nervously.

"Well... Technically, we don't. We will always remember and regret whatever we did. It will always claw at us, but the important thing is we try to forget. We try to move on," Trixie says.

"But how do I try to move on?" Silverstream feels hopeless. All the things her idol is telling her is making her feel more confused.

"You need to tell yourself that you will make wiser decisions now, because you learned your lesson," Trixie says.

The puzzle pieces in Silverstream's life are starting to click together, but there are still a couple of pieces she needs to put in place.

"What exactly is the lesson I needed to learn?" Silverstream asks.

"I think you're scared that you're going to be irresponsible again," Gallus offers, making Silverstream look at him in surprise. Gallus shrugs.

"I mean, that's what happened to me. That's how my parents died" He says the last part in a whisper.

"Oh..." Silverstream says, "I'm sorry"

Gallus shakes his head. "No," he says, "I'm sorry"

Trixie smiles.

"I think we're done here," she says, "But would you two like a cup of empathy cocoa?"

"Sure. Thanks," Gallus says as Silverstream nods sheepishly but gratefully.

Their overall contribution for the magic fair doesn't turn out as successful as expected, but either way, it helped strengthen their bond. And at the end of the day, sometimes that's all that matters.

Hello, my very few readers! I really doubt anyone still reads this, but if you, yes, you, still care, then thank you from the bottom of my heart! So I finally watched the ending of MLP, and I experienced the sobbing every Brony did. Seeing all the characters I've grown to know and love appear at the screen one last time, it made me sad to know that it is the last time, but also happy that MLP found its way into my life. Remember to spread the Magic of Friendship!
