Gruff Moods-Chapter 3: EOF

Sandbar starts the long walk back to his room. His last class is Laughter Class, which is in the opposite wing, so the distance is quite lot. But he enjoys it when that's his last class. Usually, after class, his friends will go to the garden to group study, then go to one of their dorm rooms when the sun goes down, until 9 o'clock, then return to their own dorms. But not Sandbar. He will usually walk to his dorm first. He admires the serenity that washes over him after he gets past the garden. Almost as if the entire world is in harmony. Sandbar looks down, guilty, and sighs. If only he was in harmony with his friend, but he pushes these thoughts aside. It is Gallus' fault. He started it. That bitch. Sandbar plans to stay in his dorm, no longer joining his friends in their usual group studies. He can't face seeing Gallus again.

Little does he know that that Griffin is planning to ditch the group study as well. As Sandbar approaches the familiar walls of the dormitories, he sees the Griffin that he's been trying to avoid at the end of the hall, opening the lock to his door but fumbling with his keys. In truth, Sandbar always helped Gallus open the door, even though Griffin have convenient claws. But right now, Sandbar doesn't want to bother, and Gallus is completely fine with that. As Sandbar walks past Gallus, it feels as if time is in slow motion. You can feel the tension rise. You can feel the hatred pouring out of each of them. But as soon as Sandbar places a hoof on his key and opens the door to his own dorm, the tension immediately falls. Sandbar dumps his saddle bag on a table and the corner and sighs, falling down to the floor.

Meanwhile, Gallus still stands outside his door, puzzling out the mechanism of a key. As he does that, a pink Hippogriff just enters the hall. She spies Gallus, wondering what's taking Sandbar so long to come and help him with his door. Silverstream has gone to the garden, in a very slow pace, willing to enjoy and soak in the goodness of everything as always, but then when she realizes Gallus isn't there, who is always early, no doubt about that, she panics. She immediately rushes to the dorms, figuring that her friend is undergoing something terrible. That's where her friend always goes when he has trouble. So seeing Gallus struggle on opening his door, she can't help but curiously fly over. Without thinking, she takes the key from him. Gallus appears surprised that his Hippogriff friend has come to help him.

"Sorry," she says, "Just... um... thought I'd help you out!"

Silverstream inserts the key into the keyhole, then turns it, hearing the sharp click, then proceeds to open the door.

"Thanks," Gallus says, immediately taking back the key. If this is in better circumstances, his heart will be all aflutter, but that fight with Sandbar has placed him in a Gruff mood today. A Gruff mood is very common in Griffinstone, but Gallus thought he will never have to experience it again after moving here. Turns out he was wrong.

"So why aren't you coming to the group study? Are you in a Gruff mood?" Silverstream asks. Silverstream has been the first and only creature who Gallus shared the Gruff mood of Griffin to, since she's part Griffin, the eagle part, and she uses it in all her essays. Spoiler alert: It also helps make Gallus tell the truth about his feelings.

"Yeah, I am in a Gruff mood," Gallus says matter-of-factly, "Now go away before you make it worse"

He shuts the door in her face and turns away.

"O-kay," Silverstream says. She knows that Gallus means it. He does not want to see her right now. She sighs as her shoulders slump.

"He could've said it in a less offensive way, though, but of course he had to say it that way. He's Gallus. Or maybe he actually hates me now. Shit. I did something to him. I know I did something to him"

Smolder sits down on the grass of the garden. She just returned from her Loyalty Class. Throughout the entire day she's been hyping herself to ask Yona or Silverstream to do their hair, but as she arrives, she sees none of her friends in sight. It's odd. She shifts unconfortably on the grass. The serenity of the garden puts her on edge. She doesn't like it, or she's been telling herself she doesn't like it. Her heart, meanwhile, knows that deep down, she feels like this is a perfect spot for a tea party. She lets the thought travel through her, all the way, until it surfaces in her brain. She lets out an audible groan. Time for another goal that will be really hard to reach. And she's so eager to accomplish it too. She already dreams up the perfect scenario in her mind. The peacefulness of the garden will be an excellent element that comes into play. Just then, she feels a claw fall on her shoulder.

    "Hiya," a bubbly voice says.

Smolder turns to see Silverstream as she sits down on the grass. Seeing Smolder's shaken up face makes her think that she's also worrying about her friends. She knows more or less what happened to Gallus, but in truth, she has no idea at all. Maybe he really is starting to hate her. Maybe he hates her to begin with. Maybe the rest of her friends do, too. Maybe they're only hanging out with her to take advantage of her and laugh at her for being anomalous. Maybe Smolder is judging her right know. She looks at Smolder, who is reading a book. Silverstream has forgotten that she's here for the group study, even though it's not much of a group. She takes a notebook from her bag, a notebook that acts like a planner. She painted the cover herself. The cover shows the sun setting on the ocean, the brilliant shine of faint stars take over as twilight overcomes the sea.

She places her claw on the first thing on the list, Generosity Assignment. She has to write down in her journal a detailed entry about how she was generous today. Simple enough. Her Laughter Lesson Later is how the connection of laughter and hope. She decides to read the next few chapters of her Joy Journal. Later. She has a Kindness Catch-up tomorrow which is about tough love. This lesson makes her heart ache. She's experienced a lot of tough love from her Aunt Novo, since she's the Royal Niece of the Queen. She's been raised to assist Princess Skystar in ruling Hippogriffia, which should not be a big deal since she and Skystar get along just fine, but Queen Novo tends to be too strict, draining the fun out of ruling. When her aunt learned about this school, she supposed that it would be better if Silverstream was sent here. Which would, in theory, be better, but honestly, her current friends can possibly hate her right now, and that crushes her to the core. Maybe it is best if she was never sent here. It will certainly save her from the harder pain.

Sighing, she moves on to the next homework on the list. Her Loyalty Essay on when she had a hard time choosing between her friends and something else. This will be easy. It is that time when she decides between spending her Heart's Warming (or the Three Days of Freedom Celebration as Hippogriff call it) with her family, or with Gal-aahhh... she means nothing! Nocreature! It is nocreature! Having a slight blush on her cheek, she takes out her Honesty Homework, something that she thinks she really needs. Applejack's a noce teacher, especially since her Honesty Class sometimes intertwine with some of her rare Guidance Classes. When Headmare Starlight, who was the previous guidance counselor, found out that Silverstream has anxiety - "The worst case I've encountered so far, might I add," Starlight said - she ensures that she gets sufficient amount of guidance from her, and makes sure she does well in her Honesty Class. As of the meantime, she has stopped having sessions with Starlight. Silverstream's anxiety was getting better. Keyword: was. Until... hmmm... until today, actually. She presumes it is getting worse now. She might need to have sessions again.

:

Yona just sits in her room in front of a vanity that Rarity has given her for Heart's Warming. She slams her head down on it, scattering the items in the various containers that Rarity has also given her for the past events, like her birthday and the Festival of the Two Sisters. She looks at a nearby furbrush, pouting. She sighs. Maybe she can do her own do. She removes her braids and picks up the brush. She begins to brush her fur. She doesn't really do it properly, mostly thinking of Rarity. If only the map hadn't called her. If only she is still here. But for now, there's nothing she can do about it. All she can do is hope that she can do her do properly. She starts to wonder why she even likes having new dos. Back in Yakyakistan, she barely changes her do since she doesn't really have a need to. She was happy, and had her fair share of friends. She wishes she can have her old life back.

After an hour or so Yona looks into the mirror. Her reflection stares at her, disappointed at what she is able to do. Yona sighs, but then stands up from her chair. She walks towards her door and opens it. She has resolved to look for Rarity, and her hooves lead her to Starlight Glimmer's office.

"Headmare Starlight!" Yona shouts, running up to her desk.

Starlight places a book that she was reading down, but doesn't close it, marking the page she is on. The title of the book reads Flaring Sunrise. Starlight looks at her book longingly, eager to continue reading it, but she must focus on the matter at hand. Her student needs her help.

"Yes, Yona?" Starlight asks, eyeing her book.

"Does Friendship Map still work?" Yona asks, "Yak mean, Princess Twilight moved out of Castle of Friendship and into Canterlot. No one stays at Castle of Friendship anymore"

"Well, yes," Starlight says, fixing her gaze on Yona, now focusing, "No one stays at the Castle of Friendship as of this moment, but Sunburst and I plan to turn it into a historical site that people can visit, and we recently asked Princess Twilight about it

"But recently, the Map has proved itself active and Twilight has requested me to tend to it. I already sent off Twilight's friends on their first Friendship Mission without her" Starlight pauses to look at the clock.

"Speaking of Twilight's Castle, I'm late in arranging the books in her public library section," Starlight continues, "Do you have anything else to ask?"

"Uh... yes," Yona says, "Where Professor Rarity go?"

"Why?" Starlight asks.

"Yona just need to see Professor Rarity," Yona says, smiling sheepishly.

"Well, judging from where they're going, you might see her in a month," Starlight says, "But I have all the substitute teachers ready! I promise!"

She winks at Yona, assuring the Yak. Last time she's assigned substitute teachers, a scavenger hunt was ruined and all the students were frightened. But that was her mistake. She learned her lesson now. And she also learned her lesson on choosing the right substitutes. Trixie and Sunburst are willing to do Loyalty, since Trixie needs some work in that exact same element, seeing that she prioritized herself over what Starlight wants once, and Honesty, which Sunburst lacks in, seeing that he lost touch with Starlight because he avoided telling her the truth. That leaves Kindness, Laughter and Generosuty. She already asked Octavia if she can teach Generosity and she visited Zecora asking whether or not she could teach Kindness, which she agreed on. She even wrote a letter to Cheese Sandwich, who is hard to locate, to teach Laughter.

"Why will Professors take a month?" Yona asks.

"Well, that's because they went to an unexplored region far in the east," Starlight says, getting ready to leave the office, "Anything is else?"

"No. That's it, Headmare. Thank you!" Yona runs excitedly out of the office and heads towards her room. An exciting adventure is up ahead and she needs to pack. Oh, what she'll do to have Professor Rarity back. Little did she know she won't have her friends' help, since they're all preoccupied with their own problems

Whoo! Chapter 3 all done! I hope ya'll have a nice day and tons of nice friendships!
Okay, so I won't updating this during March since school decided to dump a boatload of homework on me and I'm also working on another non-MLP fanfiction elsewhere. Hopefully I'll be back this April. I really enjoy writing these stories, though I doubt you guys enjoy reading this, since I've been getting minimal votes. I guess I deserve it. Oh, well. Remember to spread the Magic of Friendship!

Question: If you were to date any of the Young 6, who will it be and why?

I would probably date Silverstream. I need the carefree extrovert in her! I'm not the most introverted person on this planet, but I keep to myself all the time, so I really need someone to help me make friends and reach out to other people. Even though the Silverstream here suffers from anxiety, the Silverstream I believe in is very optimistic and I really need that since during contests, I would get super nervous, which often leads me to mess up. I need a Silverstream!
