Generosity Party
Rarity adds a diamond clip in her mane. She looks at her reflection in the mirror. Her mane is styled into two elegant pigtails. Her pale dress is sleek and has intricate patterns sewn along the sleeves. Intricate, but minimal. Perfect.
"It's not perfect!" she wails. What is she thinking? How could she match pigtails with a minimal dress?
In the background, Rainbow Dash rolls her eyes.
"Come on, Rarity. It's just an announcement" Rainbow says.
"Easy for you to say. You're not having any special occasions about your Element" Rarity replies, then looks at the mirror again. She does her mane in its original form and tries a new mane style. Lots of curls topped with a wide-brimmed hat.
"How do I look now?" Rarity asks her friends.
"I think you look perfect in anything, Rarity" Spike says, dreamy. Fluttershy giggles at Spike's undying crush on Rarity, then she nods in agreement.
"For the 18th time, I think you look totally totaliciously perfect!" Pinkie Pie says, bouncing up and down in delight, beaming.
Applejack sighs.
Just then, Princess Twilight Sparkle opens the door.
"Rarity! It's time to say your announcement" Twilight says urgently.
Rarity looks at herself in the mirror. She's ready.
She frowns. No, she's not.
"Twilight, dear, just a minute. My mane does not match my dress. Funky with minimal? What kind of idea is that?" Rarity says, "Maybe I should change"
Twilight groans. "Rarity, we don't have a minute. The student are getting impatient and we have to start classes soon" Twilight says. With a sigh, Rarity walks out from backstage and enters the auditorium.
"Alright everycreature" Rarity cringed at the script Twilight prepared for her, but continues on, "Today, everyone is required to be generous. At the end of the day, I will be hosting a Generosity Party. GP. The grandest party all of Equestria has ever seen!"
Students are starting to chat excitedly about the Generosity Party. Sure, Professor Pinkie Pie throws parties everyday, but Professor Rarity's parties are very exclusive.
"GP? That sounds righteous, guys. We got to go!" Sandbar says.
"Yeah, it's cool, but did you forget the part where we have to be generous the whole day?" Smolder asks.
"Aww, light up, Smolder. Its not that bad!" Silverstream says, "Speaking of which, we could help you!"
"There are books about generosity. There's Grounded Generosity, Generous Heart, Sharing is for Sharing..." Ocellus lists the never-ending amount of generosity books she's read.
"Why Dragon read books, when Dragon can learn from watching other creatures being generous!" Yona says.
Smolder sighed then looked at Gallus. "Are you going to be generous today?" she asked.
"Yeah, I mean, I want to be worthy of the GP. It's going to be so cool!" Gallus flaps his wings and does a flip in the air. Smolder's shoulders slump and the color drains from her eyes. She's the only one who can't be generous.
"Cheer up!" Silverstream says, "We'll help you!"
Smolder absent-mindedly scratched her wooden table repeatedly, not hearing the words Professor Pinkie Pie is saying. It's still the first class, but she is the only one out of her friends who wasn't able to do anything generous yet. YET. But she still feels sad, especially considering the fact that Gallus had just lent his loyalty book to someone else.
Silverstream notices the frown Smolder is wearing and elbows her.
"Hey, don't feel down in the dumps" Silverstream says.
"What else can I feel?"
Silverstream scans the room for anycreature that might need something. She spots one of her old Hippogriff friends, Coralhill.
"You see that turqoise Hippogriff with the pale orange mane? That's Coralhill" Silverstream says to Smolder, "She was very lonely at home, until we met and became friends. A good joke will always make her laugh. Try sharing one with her"
The Hippogriff Silverstream is referring to is one seat diagonally to her left. Smolder taps on Coralhill's shoulder and she turned around.
"Yes?" Coralhill asks, her voice light and musical.
"Knock knock"
"Who's there?"
"Spell"
"Spell who?"
"W-H-O"
Coralhill looks at Smolder funny, then a smile cracks through the straight line of her mouth. Then she bursts into laughter.
"What's going on here, everycreature?" Pinkie says.
"Sorry, Professor. It's just that this Dragon made me laugh!" and Coralhill still didn't stop laughing.
"Smolder huh?" Pinkie says, turning to face her, her face as serious as ever. Then Pinkie breaks into a smile.
"Never knew you had it in you! Bonus points!" Pinkie says, then hops back to the front of the class.
The encounter earlier placed a spring in her step, so when it is Smolder's next class, Kindness Class, she feels super invigorated, until she find out her friends are already 3 generosity deeds ahead of her.
Yona looks at Smolder's sad face. "Yona has Yak friend named Aneya who could borrow Dragon's bucket" Yona says.
Smolder's eyes light up. "Really? Where?"
Yona points to a Yak two creatures to Smolder's left who was having trouble carrying her food for the animals. Smolder takes her bucket and tosses it at Aneya.
Her eyes light up, and they seem to be asking a question. For me?
Smolder smiles and nods.
The day seems to be getting brighter. She was already generous with two creatures. As she sits in her seat for Loyalty Class, Ocellus excitedly tells Smolder that she and the rest of her friends were already generous to 9 creatures each! Smolder sighs. She is still lagging far behind.
Smolder slumps like a withering flower, and Ocellus notices.
"I have this Changeling friend who doesn't have a buckball" Ocellus says gently. She points to a Changeling with a mint green mane and a pastel yellow hide.
Smolder looks in her back, which houses her collection of buckballs. She is a huge fan. Sighing, she walked to the Changeling and taps her shoulder.
"Hey, my name is Smolder. You know my friend Ocellus?" Smolder says.
"Yeah" the Changeling replies, "I'm Larynx"
"Cool. So do you need a buckball today?"
"Yeah! Thank you so much!"
Smolder smiles to herself as she walks to Magic Class. Another creature whom she helped. She meets up with Gallus on the way.
"Hey, Gallus" Smolder says.
"Hey, Smolder. How many creatures were you generous with?" Gallus asks, always ready to challenge anycreature. He is sure that Griffin are more generous than Dragons.
"Three" Smolder beams.
"Hah! Just that few? I already have ten!" Gallus says as he takes his seat.
"Gosh, no need to brag" Smolder mumbles under her breath.
"Hey, it's not that bad. I would allow you to be generous to me, but I think you have nothing to offer. This Griffin that I know of, on the other hand, maybe not so much. He always needs a pencil. His name is Geo" Gallus says, then gestures to a Griffin 3 seats ahead of them.
Smolder walks over to Geo, who currently seems to look for something in his bag.
"Hey, do you so happen to have a pencil?" Geo asks.
Smolder nods and gives him a pencil.
"Cool. I'll be sure to return this" Geo says.
"Nah, you can have it" Smolder says.
As Smolder walks through the halls of the School of Friendship to her Honesty Class, she counts the number of creatures she helped so far. While walking, she bumps into Sandbar.
"Hey, Sandbar. How are you doing?" Smolder asks.
"Today is amazing, dude! I was already generous to eleven creatures! That's one more than my friend Clay Pot! I'm definitely worthy of the GP later!" Sandbar says.
"Good for you" Smolder says, her tone falling flat.
"Hey, is something wrong?" Sandbar asks.
"It's just that, I was only generous to four creatures today" Smolder says.
"That's okay. Clay Pot actually needs a clay pot for today's Honesty Class. For someone who's named Clay Pot, he sure has a shortage of them" Sandbar says, then pulls over a brown pony.
"Hey, CP. Heard you're looking for a clay pot" Sandbar says, "Well, I have just the perfect creature to help you with that. CP, meet Smoldy. Smoldy, meet CP"
"Smoldy?" Smolder asks.
"It's just Sandbar being Sandbar. Don't be upset with it, dude. You'll get used to it after a few months. So where's the clay pot for Clay Pot?" Clay Pot asks.
Smolder flies through the halls of the School of Friendship to her Generosity Class. Her last class of the day. As she flies, she spots Professor Rarity in a rather unpleasant state. Her mane is a mess and she is slumping down on the ground. Smolder can almost hear sobs. She swoops down to her.
"Hey, Professor Rarity. What's wrong?" Smolder asks.
"What's wrong?! WHAT'S WRONG?! Everything, darling! This mane is really hard to tackle today. I cannot find a perfect outfit. The ponies making refreshments are sick today and there are no bands available, so there's no music!" Rarity wails, "It's hopeless! Simply hopeless! Call off the GP, darling. We simply cannot have it today"
"Are you sure about that? I can make the best s'mores there is with my fire breath. I can also play the drums. I also know a perfect shampoo for any mane, and I can help pick out an outfit" Smolder offers.
"I'm sorry, darling, but it seems that you want this to be a rock and roll party, which is not my vision. It should be a marvelous night" Rarity says.
"I can also play the piano" Smolder offers.
"Alright" Rarity says, then levitates a stack of paper a foot thick and hands it over to Smolder. Smolder catches it with her claws.
"This is a piece that you will play" Rarity says, "And also, did you say that you know a miracle shampoo?"
After Rarity showers, she and Smolder are standing in front of a mirror.
"How should I do my mane?" Rarity asks, then looks at her reflection for a while, "But of course! I must also match it to what I will wear!"
Rarity slides back the curtain to her outfit rack.
"But what to wear? What to wear?"
They end up choosing an elegant blue dress for Rarity and her mane would be styled in a bun with a lot of gem hair accessories.
"GP, we are ready!" Rarity says enthusiastically, then she turns to Smolder, "Thank you darling for helping me. You will receive bonus points"
"Yes!" Smolder says.
Rarity walks out of her office, followed by Smolder, then they head to the Generosity Party.
