A Star's Light
A chilly wind blows as the Young 6 get settled for another slumber party. Silverstream, always full of energy, has a lot to talk about.
"I can't believe Starlight Glimmer is our new headmare
!" Silverstream exclaims.
"Yeah! And Trixie is our new guidance counselor!"
Everyone looks at Gallus for a good thirty seconds.
"What?" Gallus asks, shrugging.
"Since when do you have a cheerful voice?" Smolder asks teasingly.
"Oh, come on. You guy know that no one has ever stood up for me in front of Grampa Gruff like that," Gallus says.
"But our new vice headstallion, though. Who is he?" Silverstream wonders out loud.
"He's Sunburst. He's the Crystaller of Flurry Heart," Ocellus says.
"He's also a good friend of Headmare Starlight," Sandbar added.
"Are they friends or are they more?" Gallus asks. Smolder snickers.
"It will be pretty interesting if Headmare Starlight and Vice Headstallion Sunburst actually have a relationship," Silverstream says. Sandbar nods.
"Definitely! Think of all the love that will flow through this school," Ocellus says.
"Yak want to know! Yak want to know!" Yona shouts, jumping up and down on the bed. Gallus yawns.
"Well, we can continue operation Find-Out-If-Headmare-Starlight-And-Vice-Headstallion-Sunburst-Actually-Have-A-Relationship tomorrow, after a good night's sleep," Gallus says. The friends murmur in agreement and they are gently brought from an awake state to an asleep state.
And the same force and brought them to sleep also brought them to wake.
Smolder stretches herself, getting ready for the day ahead.
"Well, that was a fun sleepover. See you all later!" she waves goodbye to her friends and happily walks back to her room.
"Yak also need to go get ready! See friends during class!" Yona exclaims and she eagerly rushes out the door. Sandbar waves goodbye and trots out of the room as well.
"Until next time, which is later!" Silverstream happily says and flies out the door.
"I better get ready for school, too," Ocellus says, cleaning up the mess on the floor.
"So should I," Gallus says, pointing to the door for a few seconds until he flies out.
When he arrives at his room, it looks ransacked. No, it was ransacked. Gallus groans. All his pens and pencils were littered on the floor. He picks them up, but notices he is missing two pens and a pencil. He sighs. This day isn't turning out so great.
"So, my fellow faculty members, what have we got today?" Headmare Starlight Glimmer asks.
Professor Rarity tells her that her students are doing divinely.
"My students have taken honesty to a whole 'nother level!" Professor Applejack says.
Professor Pinkie Pie enthusiastically recalls how her students wonder-mazingly made her smile thrice its size.
"We may have encountered a few problems, but my students are doing just fine now," Professor Fluttershy says.
Professor Rainbow Dash tells Starlight that her students were 20% cooler and more ready to be loyal compared to yesterday.
"The students didn't have many problems when it comes to the tutoring department," Tutor Applebloom says. Tutor Sweetie Bell nods in agreement.
"They totally made our minds explode with how good they are!" Tutor Scootaloo says.
"And during my rounds around the school the students were friendly and respectful. I didn't encounter a single problem with them," Vice Headstallion Sunburst says.
"And how about you, Trixie?" Starlight asks.
"Well, Gallus was at my office complaining that a student stole two pens and a pencil from his room while he was at a sleepover" Trixie says, concerned. Starlight rises from her seat urgently.
"What?!" Starlight exclaims, worry creeping into her face, "A student stealing from another student?! That can't be happening at the School of Friendship! I'm a failure as a headmare! Twilight would be-"
Sunburst places a hoof on Starlight.
"Calm down. Breathe in, breathe out. Everything's going to be okay" Sunburst says.
"Well, of course it is. If anyone can handle this, it's you, Starlight," Rarity says. Applejack nods in agreement. Fluttershy offers a smile.
"And you can always ask for help from this great team!" Rainbow Dash says. Scootaloo flaps her wings excitedly and readily. Sweetie Bell beams.
"The Cutie Mark Crusaders are here to help!" Applebloom says.
Starlight walks in front of all her friends.
"Thank you, all of you," she says then turns to Trixie.
"Gallus brought this up with you. Do you think you can handle this on your own?" Starlight asks.
"I'll do my best," Trixie says and salutes.
"Then I guess we can all get some well-deserved rest," Starlight says. The CMC files out and so do the rest of Starlight's friends.
"Trixie can pull this off, right?" Starlight asks Sunburst once everypony else left.
"Eh... I don't think so..." Sunburst replies.
Starlight sighs. Sunburst places his hoof around her.
"But we can always hope"
"Hey, Gallus!" Trixie stands in front of his door, "I'm here to help you with the theft. I also have pens and pencils for you!"
Eventually, the door opens, revealing Gallus.
"Well, hopefully," Gallus says, shutting the door after Trixie entered.
"We just have to wait for the crime to happen again," Trixie says.
After what felt like an eternity of waiting, a shadow moves outside Gallus' window. He and Trixie immediately spring up and look outside. The window surprisingly opens, and it seems like it did it on its own.
The thief is coming now any minute..., Trixie thinks. Then a claw grabs the windowsill and a creature starts climbing in. Trixie activates a smoke bomb and a thick cloud of smoke fills the room, sending Gallus into a coughing fit.
Trixie tries to navigate through the smoke, trying to find the one responsible for the theft, but the smoke eventually cleared and Gallus' room looks ransacked again.
Gallus narrowed his eyebrows, bored. Trixie chuckled nervously. He raises his eyebrow then sighs.
"Sorry, Gallus. But here, have some extra pens and pencils," she says, then leaves the room with an apologetic smile.
In Starlight's office, Trixie tells her how helping Gallus turned out.
"So... it didn't work out," Trixie says, smiling sheepishly.
Starlight groans.
"I'll talk to Gallus," she says, then trots off.
"Hey, Gallus," Starlight says once they're in her office, "I heard you were having some trouble lately"
"Well, yeah," Gallus says, "And I know Guidance Counselor Trixie is trying but I don't think she can help"
"Maybe I can help you," Starlight says. Gallus shrugs.
"Meh," he says, "I don't need to bother you. My friends will lend me pens and pencils anyways"
He says goodbye and flies away.
Gallus enters his room and shuts the door behind him. He sighs.
It's never going to work out. I'll just keep on losing and losing my school materials, Gallus thinks, then he groans. He looks around his room and spies a container full of school materials. He walks over there and knocks it over.
"Come and get it, thief!" he shouts loudly.
I guess for now I'll just have to stay in here and look for the thief, Gallus thinks.
Staring at the window has never been any more boring. Nothing moved. Perfect peace. And no way he can find the thief.
Gallus sighs and walks to the scattered school materials on the floor. There is no way the thief will strike now. As Gallus picks them up, he realizes that he is short a pen. So the thief did strike! But they did it without making a sound, so the thief will be really hard to catch.
"Ugh, Gallus just shrugged it off!" Starlight exclaims, frustrated. She gathered the rest of the Young 6 in hee office to think of ideas.
"Relax, Headmare Starlight," Ocellus says, "Maybe we can help from the sidelines" She offers a smile.
"How?!" Starlight asks, exasperated.
"Maybe we can find out who the thief is..." Silverstream says, scratching her chin.
"And friends can return Gallus' things!" Yona exclaims, jumping up and down.
"That could work..." Sunburst comments.
Starlight considers the suggestion of the Young 6. Can this really work out? Maybe she can. With newfound hope, she casts a tracking spell from her horn. A path lights up with a mint green glow, possibly leading to the thief.
"Let's go!" Starlight exclaims. They all follow the glowing green trail, increasing in hope with each step.
The path abruptly stops in front of a door. It is a student's door. Starlight immediately opens it with her magic, revealing a Griffin huddled up with a bunch if school supplies.
"Hey, Geo. I didn't know you have a lot of pencils," Starlight says, stepping into the room. The rest of the Young 6 follow in behind her. All of them catch Geo in surprise. His eyes grow big.
"Yeah, but you still borrow from our students. Why?" Sunburst asks.
"I just recently bought these," Geo says. He is good at hiding his wavering voice, but he still manages to stammer a bit.
"Oh, really? They are yours? Let's see..." Starlight trots to the school supplies and levitates one with her horn.
"Geo, we must not steal from others, no matter how much we need it. You learned this in Honesty Class, right?" Starlight asks. Geo fakes a surprised face.
"Oh, those were Gallus'? I didn't know!" he says.
"Then you wouldn't mind if I return them to Gallus, would you?" Starlight asks.
"N-no! O-of course not, Headmare Starlight!" Geo says.
"Good," Starlight walks out the door, and the rest of the Young 6 follow.
Starlight knocks on Gallus' door and he opens it.
"Hey, Gallus. I got your things back," Starlight says, showing them to Gallus. His eyes grow big and his eyebrows are raised, as if expecting to not see his school supplies ever again.
"Thank you, Headmare Starlight," Gallus says.
"No problem! But you should also thank your friends, they helped, too!" Starlight says.
"I'll definitely thank them!" Gallus flashes Starlight one last grateful grin the disappears back inside his room.
"So what are you going to say to Gallus?" Trixie asks.
She is in her office, along with Gallus and Geo. After the incident, Headmare Starlight thought that Geo could use a counseling session, and Trixie wanted to tag along Gallus, too.
"For his entertainment," Trixie said to Starlight with a wink.
Geo looks at Gallus.
"I'm sorry," Geo whispers so softly that no one could possibly hear him.
"I can't hear you," Trixie says.
"I'm sorry," Geo finally manages to say a little louder.
"I forgive you," Gallus says with a smile.
Geo's eyes light up.
"Really?" he asks.
"Of course. Your average Griffin wouldn't apologize to anycreature at all," Gallus says.
Maybe Geo did learn a thing or two from the School of Friendship.
