KUSH'S POV

She's insane.

She had nearly got herself killed, just staring at a shooting star. I so wished I had forced her to come with me in the first place. It was fortunate enough that I went back to check on her, I should listen to my intuition more often after this.

In my rear mirror I saw Meera was still standing there. The breeze was blowing her loose strands of hair while she stood watching me leave. My eyes always conveyed her feelings. And tonight she was grateful, and so was I. Just thinking about the tradegy that was averted brings chills to my body.

I reached my condo in an hour.
My house is never a home without a warm loving family. It's always cold and lonely when I return. Sometimes I like staying by myself but tonight I missed my family more. Perhaps, if was because of the supper I had at Meera's.

The chocolate pudding! Meera's chocolate pudding. Baked to perfection, chilled at the absolute temperature and the most delicious smooth, chocolatey filling made it a great dessert.

The small stain on my sky blue shirt was still fresh, arousing my tastebuds again. It was the best I ever had in my life. Yummier than my Mom's. I never thought I'd be saying that. Puddings have always been my favorite since I was a kid. Danny and I were always in a fight about who will get a bigger piece. I won, always.

I never thought I'd taste a pudding better than Mom's. She's gonna be upset when she hears about it. I chuckled.

I loved it so much that I had to lie. I'm not the person who easily caves in. Complimenting Meera would have been a good gesture but then at times I agree with the fact that I can be jerk.

My cell phone was ringing when I walked out of the bath. It was Mom. Some times it feels as if we're connected by telepathy. I was actually missing her so much today.

" Hi! Mom. I thought you forgot you've another son. "

" Don't Drama me, Kush, I was a bit packed up with the production schedule and Danny has his finals. I need to help him too coz you're not here for him." She explained.

Danny was in his final year of filming school. But he hasn't planned about his masters yet. He wants to work with Dad after his graduation, which I believe is good for him. For the people who haven't guessed yet, Danny is my younger brother. He's almost 21 now yet he needs Mom's assistance with his take ups.

In this case we're a lot more different people with different opinions. And I'm glad we all respect that in the family. I wasn't yet ready to work with or for dad. So, I did freelancing after graduation for about a year and a half and then here I'm in Cleveland doing masters.

" Kush, tell me how are you? Are you eating well? " That was the question all mothers have.

" Hmmm, Yup. But, You will not believe that what happened today. I had the most amazing pudding ever. On par with you or I hope I won't be smashed if I said it was even better. "

" You definitely can't be serious, are you?" She was surprised. I had been to places, supposedly having the best puddings but they never as delicious as Mom's.

" Yes! I'm... "

" I feel... I don't know what to say, uh-umm... Vanquished by an American... " I laughed when she said that.

" Lucky for you, she isn't American... She's a hard core Indian Girl. She's silly, childish, crazy but she's sweet. "

" So, it's a girl. I can't tell you I'm glad you found an Indian girl. I'm upset that she won you through a chocolate pudding, something that I'm best at... "

" Wait up... She didn't win me, okay..." I was justifying.

" It was really awesome!" When I said that I felt like reliving the moment when the fluffy pudding melted in my mouth with the liquid chocolate oozing out and sending sparks throughout my body.

" Okay! Okay! Stop drooling over it, Kush. Let me guess.... Isn't she the same mystery girl?" She knows. Dad is a chatter box. He really can't shut his mouth.

" Yeah! But, don't let what Dad say get into your head. But, you should try it once..." I couldn't believe that I was still talking about it.

" Of course, If my son is so impressed I've to. But, first I'll like to meet this girl. She seems..."

" Mom... That's the end of the story. We're not even good friends. I need to sleep. Give my hug and wishes to Danny." I stopped her.

" It'd be better if you were here. Nevertheless, good night. " She hung up.

I was definitely tired but pretty much relaxed for talking with Mom. I'm sure that I'm going to have a good night's sleep.

I just wish that I don't dream about Meera's chocolate pudding, or else it will be a tougher night.

When I woke up it was already 8:40 am. With November around the corner the weather was getting chilly. The sun was up and it's reddish rays painted the morning sky beautiful. And FYI, I did dream about the best pudding I had till date the last night and it's tempting to even think about it.

I know it's crazy but food makes me crazy.

I had to hurry if I wanted if I was competing Meera. With a quick shower and grabbing an apple I rushed to the University. Apples were my breakfast from the past two weeks now.
Meera might have reached. I just wanted to check whether she was fine. And obviously I had to narrate the incident to everyone else.
It's gonna be fun.

MEERA'S POV

I got up early. Tara was still sleeping like a baby. She looked so innocent but only I know that devil inside is a lot naughtier. I put the Tea kettle on stove and made her some bread butter.

I got in a comfy blue pants and light pink shirt. Grabbing my sling purse and bag pack, I walked towards the bus station. The morning was refreshing. I saw children along with their moms waiting for their school bus.

The bus ride was how it usually is. I sat next to the old lady and we had a brief chat while I was having my coffee.

When I reached the Activity Room, Kush and Joe along with Addie and Jenny were having a deep discussion. I got a hint that somehow it has to be related to me.
They all gave a serious look to me and were grining. I assume that Kush was done with his story about his heroism.

Yesterday was near to a disaster. First Kush saved me and then Mom had gone crazy, all thanks to Tara.

I could still feel the heat through the phone.

' Meera, Are you insane. Were you sleep walking? Thanks to that humble boy.'

Huh! Humble... In your dreams. I thought.

' Mom. I'm Fine. Please stop overreacting.'

' Now I'm overreacting? I'll personally have to thank him. '

' Mom. He is not a saint. I'll say that on your behalf. Say Hi to Dad. '

' Wait till Dad hears all this. I don't believe you Meera. If you don't share his number I'll ask Tara. '

' Mom! It's not needed. Bye Take care. Good night. I'm tired. '

' Sweetheart... Take care. Stay Safe. Love you. '

' Love you Mom. '

Parents are entitled to get worried, I don't deny that. So, I'll give her that point.

" Meera... Are you alright? "
It was Addie' s voice that brought me back to the present.

" Yes. I'm perfectly fine. " I was as a matter of fact.

" Ya... All thanks to me. Or Else she was on a suicide mission. "
Kush came up along with Joe and Paul. Ron too entered with Adam. They all surrounded me like I was a magnet and they were the iron filings.

He really can't spend a day without praising himself, can he?

" Yeah! Kush. All thanks to you. So says my mom too. " I taunted.

" I take it as a compliment, My Girl! " Saying so he winked.

Everyone was giving us a astonishingly surprised look. Of course they didn't know what the scene was. He needs to stop calling me this.

" Meera, I heard you were on self killing spree. " It was Ron, who apparently wasn't aware that we were already done talking about it.

" Shut up Ron. Leave her alone. Mee, I hope you are well. Take care."
Jenny tapped my shoulder and gave Ron a stern look. Soon everyone else busied themselves with their respective work.

" Jenny, where are you off?" I asked when I saw Jenny leaving in the afternoon.

" Actually Yuan, Loved the shirt and asked me out. So, since I've completed my suff, I'm going. I've informed Alan too. By the way Meera he heard about the incident. He seemed worried. He said he will give you a call. " I nodded.

I think this accident incident was getting way too much attention now. Frankly, I didn't like it. Who does?

It's all Kush's fault. He shouldn't be lauding himself everytime. It's giving me troubles.

" Oh!! Okay, enjoy." I smiled.

" I will..."

Just then Ron stormed in.

" Jenny, How can you go with that nerd? He will bore the hell out of you."

" I smell jealously." Adam commented and everyone busted laughing.

" Adam, it's abstract and also, not funny. " Ron chided making everyone silent.

" Why in the Earth you care, Ron? Joe, I'm leaving if in case work pops in please don't feel free to call me. I'll be busy. " She said looking at Ron while Joe waved her.

" No worries Jenny. I think I can manage, but I don't think someone else would. Enjoy." He replied.

" What? So you just going? " Ron was pissed and he was good at expressing that.

" Yup. Bye you guys. "

" Bye... " Everyone chorused expect Ron. I think he so irritated and maybe jealous too. I think everyone knows Ron likes Jenny but he is too arrogant to confess but on the other hand his actions say otherwise.

Sometimes, feelings can be confusing but confusion is the only way to absolute clarity.

" It's alright Ron. Maybe you can ask her out next time." Addie suggested.

" ME!... Never ever in my life."
Saying so he stormed out.

Things were settled as people turned their heads back to work. I was still lost in my thoughts. It's intriguing how people get connected, yet they are still confused about their feelings.

I'm pretty sure Jenny likes Ron but both of them want to beat the other at their game, little do they know that none of them will be a winner in the end.

" So, Miss... What's going on in that head of yours?" Kush's deep voice startled me for a second.

" I'd like to share with you but I won't."

" Why?"

" Coz, I don't want. Now don't waste my time Kush. Tell me what it is?" I said hurriedly.

" Okay! Okay! We need to figure out what piece of performance we're gonna put do." His expression changed and now we were talking business.

" Hmmm. Do you have any ideas or you're just gonna tell your tale of heroism ? " I chucked.

" Excuse me... I've a superb idea. You don't know how my master mind works. " He winked.

" Okay, Cool. We can wind these blueprints and then discuss it afterwards. " I suggested.

" Sounds like a plan... " He left.

So around fivish we were done. So was everyone else. Just as we thought it was it was the end of the day Ron returned. We hadn't seen him for the entire day.

" Mee, Ask your friend to stay away from that idiot. I saw Jenny's Instagram stories. They were together for the entire day." He sounded flustered.

" Ron, that's what going out means." Kush smirked.

" If you like her, tell her..." Paul added.

" I don't..." He shouted.
" I just want her to be safe. " He finished himself.

" She is Ron. C'mon let's garb some snacks. " I said putting my sheets in the container and packing my bag.

" True that Meera. C'mon buddy. " Kush took Ron with him. Addie, Joe, Adam and Paul joined too. I was about to leave when I received a call. It was Alan.

" Hey, Meera. Are you okay? I heard you had an incident. "

" I'm very well. Thanks. " I replied.

" Good. You need to take care of yourself." He sounded genuinely worried.

" Yeah! I take it as an important advice." I said in a serious manner making him laugh. I too joined in.

" Well, Did you complete the blueprints? We need to submit them." He asked.

" Yes, all done and set. Kush and I've just completed them."

" Kush needs to give his to Leo. You bring them tonight at my place. We can discuss them out." He said.

" Tonight? Can we do it tomorrow? "

" Actually I'm leaving the town tomorrow afternoon. I'll be back in two days. So, I thought it's better to do it soon. I've already informed them that I'll submit it tomorrow morning. "

" Okay. Catch up with you at around 7:30." I hung up.

" Meera... Who called? " Kush was asked. I waved him to wait.

" It was Alan. He asked to show him the sheets. You need to show them to Leo. " I informed.

" Okay! We can do it tomorrow. "

" No, apparently he wants them tonight. I'll be going at his place." I said.

" Okay! I'll come with you. Leo lives two blocks away. He'll collect it from Alan. I'm coming with you. " He repeated himself, it was fishy.

" Kush... " I narrowed my eyes.

" Okay! Fine, Leo lives about I don't know how many blocks away, but I'm accompanying with you." It was a confession.

" I can manage. I'm not a kid. "

" They are waiting for us. Let's go. "
He cut me short and pulled me towards them.

Kush's actions aren't good at justifying his intentions. I'm not sure why he wants to come along but as of now I've a company and if he's coming with me I hope he has a good reason for it.

After about 40 minutes I elbowed Kush.

" We should leave now. I'll get your things for you, you finish this up." I said pin pointing to his sandwich which was actually a huge one, he nodded with a smile for a reason I wasn't aware of.

Yet, I smiled back which wasn't necessary at all.
