Air Supply

He stood there behind her, a dark shadow cast over his face. A look of pure hatred as he stared at the back of Penelope's head. Yoongi didn't say a word, he just stood there. His mind turning over every loathsome thing he had ever wanted to say to the woman in front of him.

Penelope went to speak again making the man behind her twitch. Gracie was thankful that terrifying expression wasn't directed at her. Although she didn't quite understand why.

"Yoongi?" Jin started.

He flinched once more before he spoke.

"You. Fucking. Bitch." His tone was filled with hatred. Penelope whirled around. When she saw him she had a petulant grin on her face.

"Oh it's you." She appeared unfazed by his entire demeanor.

"You took him from me!" He growled, balling his fistsinto tight white knuckle fists.

"Correction— I got rid of a problem." She blinked slowly, pursing her lips as she looked at her fingernails.

Namjoon appeared in the doorway, grabbing hold of Yoongi before he could launch himself at the woman he thought he knew.

"He was your fiancé!"

"Didn't stop you from trying to steal him." Penelope spat at Yoongi.

Gracie's mouth fell open. Penelope had a fiancé.

"Wait—-" Gracie locked eyes with Yoongi. He was still trying to break free from Namjoon's hold. The anger filled with desperation on his face confirmed the unsettling feeling in her stomach.

Penelope looked back at Gracie.

"He tried to steal my Jimin from me. I couldn't let him do that."

"You don't get to choose whether someone lives! That's not up to you!"

Jin laced his fingers with Gracie's, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. He didn't say anything but it was enough to give her courage.

"You tried to kill him because you thought Yoongi was going to take him from you. How could you?"

Penelope rolled her eyes.

"Don't act like you wouldn't do the same for Mr. Prince Charming here."

Gracie shook her head.

"If he decided I wasn't the person for him, I would let him go. I love him enough to do that."

Jin looked down at Gracie. She had a stern look on her face. Although he could feel her hand trembling. She didn't have to worry about him wanting someone else. Regardless of the short time he's had with her. She was the only one he ever wanted.

"Whatever... You know he didn't die anyway. Even with me slicing one of the bands on the suit. He just hurt his head and then didn't remember me. That's when this deviant asshole swept in and stole him. Just like he intended from the start."

Penelope glared back at Yoongi. His face turned red, the anger boiling within.

"I never wanted to steal him from you. He's my best friend. I only ever wanted to spend time with him. Do I love him.Yes! More than anything. If he wanted you, he wouldn't have written those things in his diary."

"Well he wouldn't have been confused had you let him be alone with me. You—"

"Penelope stop!" Gracie cut her off. Penelope snapped her head back toward Gracie.

"What—- little miss perfect want to defend this thief."

"Who's the thief here? It seems you've taken something from each person in this entire room."

Penelope rolled her eyes.

"Obviously not. Prince Charming is with you now is he not? Jimin is still with—"

"He isn't! He is stuck in his head due to something you said to him that day!" Yoongi shouted angrily.

"Like what I said would do that. Always pointing fingers, Yoongi.  Perhaps it's something you did."

Penelope shot back, she scanned the room for an ally. Her eyes falling on the one person who was closest to her as of late.

"Joonie... I'm not what they are accusing me of."

Namjoon let go of Yoongi with a sigh.

"I know that not to be true."

Gracie watched Namjoon slowly walk to her closet.

"If what they say isn't true. Then Hoseok is lying and Yoongi won't be able to say whether the paintings in this closet were the ones described in Hoseok's notebook."

Penelope's face lost its color as Namjoon opened the door.

"Please, Joonie—"

Carefully he pulled out one canvas after another. Yoongi's expression grew darker with each one. Jin let go of Gracie's hand and stood between the fuming man and the desperate eyed girl staring at the canvases.

"You hurt so many people... Do you even realize how much."

"I didn't hurt Jin. I didn't get behind the wheel that—"

Gracie slapped Penelope across the face.

"You lied— and you tried to kill someone. Someone you were supposed to love."

Penelope's hand touched her cheek as she stared at her sister in shock. Gracie had never stood up to her nor anyone for that matter.

"But what about—"

Gracie pulled her hand back, ready to slap her sister again. Penelope instead fell silent, her shoulders slumped in defeat.

Sirens could be heard outside the window. Several knocks indicating they were going to make entrance by force if they didn't open up soon.

Namjoon hurried past the three of them down to the front door. When he opened it, Hoseok was standing with worry plastered all over his face.

"Are you guys okay? I got a text from—"

"Sir— what seems to be the issue."

Namjoon took a deep breath then explained everything to the officer standing beside Hoseok.
Meanwhile the man squeezed past him running up to hug Yoongi from behind. He was still frozen in place. Jin standing mere inches from him and Gracie having a standoff with her sister.

Although from where he stood, it would seem Penelope had given up. Moments later the officer entered the room, read Penelope her rights then led her away into the patrol car. Another officer returned to get a full statement from everyone still standing in the room.

When the officer finally left, Gracie heaved a great sigh with a tear escaping, sat down on her bed. Jin moved to sit beside her with a protective arm around her shoulders. Yoongi and Hoseok spoke in hushed words outside the door to the room.

Gracie could hear the relief in Yoongi's voice but also the sadness that still lingered.

How could they get Jimin back?

"That was impressive." Jin whispered, not quite sure why he did. Just seemed right at the time. Gracie looked at him.

"What?"

"The way you stood up to your sister. I know that was hard for you. I could feel you shaking when you first started calling her out."

"Oh."

"You are strong beyond words."

Gracie felt her cheeks warm at his compliments. She didn't feel strong but someone had to stand up to her for all the pain and torment she had caused.

"I wish I knew how to help Yoongi."

She glanced at the doorway where the two men sat on the ground talking.

"There's got to be something we're missing."

"What though?"

"I think I need to talk to Penelope again..." Gracie began.

Yoongi peeked back into the room, his eyes meeting hers.

"I want to go with you."
