Cour 1: Chapter 5
They have visitors today.
The door opens with a creek.
"Come in," said Osamu who has a hard time looking out the doorway.
Then walks in a short flashy-white-haired man, who Osamu likes to refer as: a mini Bokuto. They emit the same energy and enthusiasm on court, so why not?
And, oh.......
"Sakusa-kun."
Kiyoomi glances over from Osamu to Atsumu real quick.
Atsumu rolls over gently, "Omi-kun? And Hoshiumi-san."
"You two look really fucked up, especially you Atsumu-kun. How you feeling?" Kourai asks as he places a paperbag on their table, "Got you some treats."
"And you two came all the way from Tokyo?"
Of course they did.
"Us two?" Kourai looks behind him, "Uh, where's Kageyama-kun?"
Osamu sees the Youth Campers are all in one place and he doesn't want to bet on the chance Atsumu is going to bring up the whole topic about him ditching out on youth camp.
"Im going to take a walk. Excuse me."
Also with your brother's boyfriend here, Kourai better starts reading the room.
Osamu has no idea where to go. He just needs to leave the room. Except, there's a boy, silky blue hair, sitting with his head arched close to the ground just outside of the ward.
He bends down a little to see his face.
The boy on the floor shot up his head up, inches away from hitting Osamu's face.
He flinches.
"Are ya OK?" Osamu balances himself on wobbly legs, maybe he should ask himself that question first.
"Yes?" Blueberry boy glances the figure in front of him in confusion. "Atsumu-san?"
"Obviously not, my brother can't walk," says Osamu as he shuffles away from the door.
"Atsumu-san......can't walk?" A tone of concern lay heavy on those words.
"Why don't you go in and see for yourself?" says Osamu, he sits at the very end of the seat row.
"Um.....Miya-san....."
"Osamu,"
"Right, Osamu-san......"
There's an awkward pauce.
"You can sit on the bench, ya' know, instead of......." crouching on the floor.
Obediently, he stands up and plops down ungracefully on the same bench. They are an arm apart.
Osamu tests carefully, "Kageyama......"
Blueberry boy looks back at him. Bingo.
"So yer Tobio-kun."
Tobio nods, "Why are you out here?"
Osamu watches a nurse stroll by, "I don't need to watch my brother and his boyfriend being all lovely dovey together," he snorts, as if he have never done that with Suna.
"His....boyfriend?"
Ah shit, they haven't announced it publicly.
"What about you? Don't you want to go in?" Osamu deverts his attention immediately.
Tobio breathlessly whispers, enough for Osamu to hear it, "I hate this place."
Osamu agrees.
A long silence stalls between the question and Osamu looks right to see blueberry boy looking.......sad, or sick. Osamu's not sure but watching him crouching on the floor, looking like he was about to cry should raise some red flags.
Frozen, shoulders slumped against the backseat, eyelids half lidded staring on the ceiling, like someone has drained the living lights out of him.
Osamu wonders what it takes for someone to look so lifeless.
"I....." Tobio begins ".....had someone....." his eyes still on the ceiling "........close, a family, who walked into a hospital and never walked out again."
Oh, so that's what it takes.
Taken aback by the very personal information, Osamu stutters a pathetic, "sorry" from his lips.
"There's nothing to be sorry about. He was old, he lived a good life."
But everyone would be very sorry for a pair of young twins to die, right?
Shit.
"Osamu-san?"
"Huh?"
"Are you.......alright?"
"I'm fine," Osamu straighten back up, afraid where this conversation was heading, "so what's with you and Atsumu?" says Osamu while trying his best to steer from the topic, "are you two close?"
"I think he's closer with Sakusa-san."
Of course he is.
"Atsumu-san's a good senpai."
Of course....what?
"No."Osamu disagrees in disgust."Did he force you to say that?"
Tobio shakes his head. Sure, Atsumu ticks him off once in a while but he knows what he knows best, and yes, he probably has a superiority complex way of expressing himself, but hey, who is Tobio to complain.
"I'm sure Sakusa-san would agree with me."
"Speaking of Sakusa-san, I'll let ya in on a little secret." Osamu is very tempted, it's not like his brother is doing a good job keeping it anyway, "They're dating."
"Who?"
"My brother and Sakusa, duh."
Osamu watches Tobio closely for a reaction. Not a single flinch of respond. Tobio just looks zone out into a void with a loading screen on his face.
Osamu waves his hand in front of him. Hello? Earth to Kageyama.
"Congratulations to them."
Seriously?
"Bet you coulda tell already. Both of them smooching around the corner and being all flirty."
"They were?"
God, this boy is blunt to the core.
"Can't believe it huh? My whack ass brother with someone diligent as Sakusa. I don't know what he sees in him. I don't know what they see in each other."
Tobio hums, "I thought they fit."
"Ya thought?"
"They're just....." says Tobio struggling to get the right words out, "......connect with each other. They needed some comfort."
Huh.
Ironically, Osamu might have jinxed himself. No one thought he and Suna would get along. Maybe Osamu just wants a pat on his back and Suna came in with a whole hug. Maybe he just wants someone to rant to, to open up a little.
Maybe he is desperate, for......connection.
Osamu remembers something he had forgotten. A sense of emotion he lost somewhere in the past.
"I think......" Osamu gets up, ".......we should in. You came after all."
Tobio nods. He grabs the cold metal door handle with his whole fist on the knob.
A force came from behind him and pushes him to the front. Something heavy. No. Someone heavy. With full acknowledgement that Osamu's right behind him he yanks behind to grab the weight crushing him.
"OSAMU-SAN!"
---------------------
"You're skinny."
Kiyoomi observes his boyfriend.
"Stop lookin' at me like some rare specimen." Atsumu pouts.
"Surprisingly energetic as well," Kiyoomi sits into the arm chair beside him. He holds his hands up to the band on his forehead. There's a tiny patch of red on the side. "Does that hurt?"
"No.......yes, of course it hurts, don't touch it."
Kiyoomi sighs, and Atsumu notices he sighs a lot.
"What are ya so upset about?" Atsumu keeps pouting.
"Why don't you work that brain a little and figure it out?" Kiyoomi scoffs, "I'm sure there's still some left in you."
Atsumu smiles.
"Look at you," Kiyoomi brushes Atsumu's fringes to the side.
"What? You miss my pretty face?" Even in sickbed, nothing will stop him from being a flirty ass.
"Whatever," says Kiyoomi in denial, "You don't have a pretty face now, it's all wrecked."
Atsumu grins, feeling giggly, "At least you've got a pretty face."
He lifts his arms in attempt to boop his boyfriend on the nose, except angle and gravity was not in his favour and the long term restrictions on bed had made his sense for direction and balance groggily.
Thankfully Kiyoomi notices what's he up to so he decides to just offer himself closer to his boyfriend, close enough to also give him a kiss in the-
"Um......"
Shit, they forgot Kourai's in the room.
"I think.....I should leave....."
"No-wait-"
How does one explains to unembarass themselves?
"No really, it's fine. I'll just give you two a mome-"
Someone swings open the door, almost hitting Kourai in the face. Tobio tumbles in.
"OSAMU-SAN!"
---------------------
It's hard to breath.
Like being struck down by an arrow, the sudden vibration came so fast. Aching and swelling up inside him. He grips his chest, unconsciously tilting forwards straight to poor Tobio who swirls around fast enough to hold him.
"MEDIC! HERE!"
Someone screams into the hallway. Osamu think he's collapsing onto himself. He can't see. Oh god, he can't see.
Or maybe he does, he sees a court, a familiar outdoor volleyball court, one that he and his brother always goes to.
There's their backyard, the shed with all those old sports equipment they'd never pick up again.
"MIYA."
His mom teaching him to cook, his dad cheering for their first volleyball match. Their cousins who lost that very match.
"Osamu."
There's Kita as their captain, Aran, Akagi, in their dorms. Suna shares his lunch. They're laughing, all together.
"Samu."
Then there is his brother. Young, stubborn, crybaby. At home, behind the fence, in the yard, in school, on the court, their room, their dorm, their games, tournament, matches, training, camps, classes, literally everywhere and anywhere.

"Samu, hold me." Young Atsumu pled.
Tsumu was so fragile.
"Samu, play with me." Young Atsumu begged.
Tsumu was lonely.
"Samu, don't leave me." Young Atsumu sobbed.
Tsumu was a crybaby.
"Tsumu? Don't cry? Samu's here alright? Yer brother's right here......come here Tsumu, I'm right here......please Tsumu come back......"

Osamu held onto everything and nothing in a glimpse of his memories.
