I - Meowssing Thief
Saguru stared at his watch as the seconds hand ticked away. Soon, the now brightly lit museum would be plunged into darkness. That was one of the thief's favorite quote-unquote "Magic Tricks". He was surprised Nakamori hadn't just taken to wearing night vision goggles. Or carrying flashlights, which would probably be easier and cheaper than night vision goggles.
Not that it really bothered Saguru all that much. Not anymore, at least. At first, the idiocy of it all irritated the hell out of him. But now? Far less so. He'd rather catch that thief himself, thank you very much.
And there it was. As the watch's hour hand struck 12, the museum went dark. Saguru sighed, and amidst the frantic yells of the officers(why were they always surprised? It was nothing new) he grabbed his flashlight and shined it on the gem-or rather, where the gem should be.
Saguru blinked, tilting his head to the side. The lights flashed back on and Saguru glanced around the room. "Where..."
"Where did KID go?" Nakamori shouted, head swiveling towards Saguru. "Hakuba, did you see where he went?"
"I didn't see him at all," Saguru responded, furrowing his brow. In his experience, the only times KID didn't show his face, something was wrong. Very, very wrong.

Saguru was worried, to say the least. Alongside the task force, Saguru had searched the entire museum and surrounding area for the thief with no luck. And though he knew the officer wouldn't admit it, Nakamouri had looked worried as well.
However, he had found someone-or rather, something-else; the brown-furred cat that was currently sitting on his kitchen table as the detective scrounged for something to feed it.
The cat, which he'd started to call KID(since he'd found it while looking for the thief), mewed loudly from his perch.
"I know, you're hungry, but I don't know what to give you," Saguru shot back, "What do cats eat?"
KID mewed again.
"Fish? I don't think we have any. I think the cats-like-milk thing is just some myth. A-ha! this might work." Saguru paused, pulling some chicken strips from the fridge. Not breaded, mind you-Saguru doubted that would be good for the kitten-but instead grilled.
He tossed the chicken in the microwave before pulling a bowl from the cupboards and filling it with water at the sink. The microwave beeped as he set the water next to the cat. Saguru grabbed the plate of chicken and slid the plate over to the cat. "I'll have to pick up cat food on the way home from school tomorrow, but this'll do for now."
KID mewed again-in appreciation, Saguru liked to think-before lowering his head to the plate and starting to nibble at the chicken.
Quite honestly, Saguru found it adorable. Everything cats did was adorable. Cats were adorable in general. He loved cats. However, he hadn't been able to get one before due to the fact that he was travelling back and forth halfway around the world on a regular basis. However, recently he'd mostly been living in Japan.
He leaned on the table and sighed, moving to run his hand through the cat's extremely soft fur. He could feel KID purring against his hand and he smiled lightly.
Oh how he loved cats.
