Chapter 45- Cursed

-Jason's POV-
(I'm 8. Gimme a break if I don't know words...)
I woke up quickly, with incredible pain in my sides and head. An adult's deep voice brought me back to the present. It's male, and the voice carries a serious tone. "Good morning, Jason. How do you feel?" I flinched.
This person sounded eerily similar to the doctor I'd been dragged to every year of my life. He always said those exact words. That man hated me, mainly because he was so confused by my sickness. I was sick nearly everyday, with something or other all the time. It was always fever or migraines.
Anyway, the way this person spoke sounded like the doctor, but had a more caring tone to his voice. He actually cared. "My head and sides hurt..." "And they will, Jason. Stage 5 of the Wither's curse is serious stuff." "Wither's curse? What's a wither's curse?"
"The Wither's curse, my dear boy, is what you have. Your blackened hands? Your near blindness? That's the lower stages of the curse. You, my friend, are in the final stage."
"Am I gonna die?" "No. It won't kill you. But you look different now than you did before." "What do you mean?" "It's why your head and sides hurt, Jason. New bones. They've wrapped protectively around your ribs, heart, lungs, and brain. But it's all external. I can touch the bones, and so can you."
"So... What now?" "My best has been done, so stick to your laid back friend, and you should be golden." "Ian?" "That's the one! His laid back attitude will lay the bad part of the curse to rest." "What's the bad part?"
"Insanity, Jason. If it weren't for your friend Ian, you'd be locked down in a cell somewhere going crazy insane." "Oh... And I take it that's bad?" "That's very bad Jason. You need to be very careful around activity." "But how did Ian... I never told him. I never told anyone!" "You didn't need to with Sky and I around. We can detect that stuff."
"Who- who are you?" "Are you sure you wanna know?" "Yes." The man stepped into my near-dead line of vision. Bright white light is the first thing I noticed. "Herobrine?"
"Very good, Jason. I am in fact Herobrine. You were taught well." "No I wasn't." "What do you mean?" "I was always sick. I never got to go anywhere but bed, and the doctor's office." "So your parents..." "They died."
I took a deep breath. "It was on purpose too. The doctor always hated me, and he set our house on fire. It was then that I noticed I wasn't burning with my parents.  I was standing in a small untouched patch of wood." "What else, Jason." "I- I stepped towards the woods, and the fire... The fire parted in front of me. So I ran into the woods, and hid. That was 3 years ago. I stole the gloves..."
"Well, Jason. As long as you're here, you won't be harmed. The vision, I'm sorry, I could not fix. But you can get tips on how to work with it from Sky." "He's nearly blind?" "No. He is blind." "Oh? I can't tell. He walks so well. He doesn't have a stick thing either." "A what? A walking stick? Is that it?"
"Yeah! A walking stick." "Well, Sky has other ways to get around. He can pinpoint energy, while I can't. And I'm his dad. He has abilities that I don't. He's got everything I do, and extra. So ask Sky about getting around."
"Okay. Do you know where Ian is?" "I do not. Sky can help you find him." I found the door, and walked out to find Sky and the alpha wolf in the hallway. In a blurry, near black image, I watched Sky come running over, and he picked me up. I sat on his shoulder, and he held me up so my feet dangled beneath me.
"Hi, Jason. Let's go find Ian for you." "Thanks, Sky. But..." "What's up, Jason?" "How do you make your way around so well? Being blind and all?" "I can sense stuff around me, like the wolf here." He splayed his hand in the alpha's direction, and the alpha grunted.
"I can sense him, but I can't sense where every part of him is. I have no clue where his head is, or his tail, or even his legs. I can just sense his main body, and the direction in which it's moving. So I can only assume his head, is right here." He pointed straight to the alpha's head. "And his tail." He then pointed to the alpha's bushy tail.
"That's cool! Can you maybe teach me that? My eyes don't like me anymore..." "I can try... It may not work. I do have abilities you may not have. Just keep that in mind." "Got it." As we walked, Sky's eyes remained open, but he pointed stuff out that I couldn't see. He picked out an ant walking next to me.
"Jason, it's smart that you hid it, but it also sped up the process of the curse. It skipped the main part of stage 2, which gives you a new ability. Take off a glove, Jason." I listen to him, and I pull off my left hand glove. Trying hard to squint and see it, I can clearly see my blackened hands, but hovering over it... There's a small skull shaped thing.
"A skull?" "A bomb. A withering bomb to be specific. Don't throw one of those here. It will kill everyone except you." "Oh." And I put my glove back on to be extra careful. I don't wanna kill anyone by accident.
"Sky?" "What?" "Does it ever get frustrating?" "Does what get frustrating?" "Being blind." "Of course it does. When I was younger, it was a lot worse. I'd run into walls daily."
"But does it get frustrating now? Like, now that you're older?" "Jason. It will never not be frustrating."

-Sky's POV-
"Jason! Are you okay?! What happened?!" Ian ran over. I could easily sense Jason stiffen, and I knew it was too much. "Ian." I snapped patiently. "Give him space. He's really gonna need it."
"Well, what happened? What is this?" "This, Ian, is the Wither's curse he's suffered from since birth." "The whozawhatza curse?" "No... The Wither's curse. This is the final stage of the curse. It will last until he dies." "It'll kill him?" "No. When he dies naturally."
"Rob, how have you not learned that you can't sneak up on me?" "Ugh. Dang it. I keep forgetting." "Preston. Really?" Preston was behind me, trying to creep on me. He shrunk back, "Gosh darn it Sky. You're too good."
I smiled. "Preston. I'm flipping blind. That's just immature to try and sneak up on someone who can't see you. That goes for you too, Ian. The curse took the last of Jason's sight. He's up in the clouds with me now."
"Okay." See? Jason's gonna be fine with Ian. Ian is back to his regular laid back self, and he doesn't have as much energy. "Jason. Follow me the best you can." "I'll try."
I start walking to the outside wall, and I monitor Jason's path as I go. I see no point trying to guide him, because if I do, he won't learn anything. Inches from running into a branch face first, Jason does limbo, and keeps walking. He reaches me at the wall.
"Now. Quiz time. How did you know that branch was there?" "I- I don't know. Luck?" "No. That was because you felt your surroundings. The wind was broken by the branch, and it helped you sense it. Think about it Jason." "Oh yeah! That does make a lot of sense. I forget what you look like already though."
"It's fine. I can't remember what I look like either." He giggled. "Of course not. Too long?" "Not so long... But just long enough..." "Huh?" "I had special enchanted sunglasses, and they let me see. But my only pair was burned and destroyed a few days ago. I have a terrible memory." "Oh..."
"C'mon, Jason. Let's get you ready to walk alone. It's gonna be tough, but you gotta trust your body and instincts. It'll get you places. If you start to turn the wrong way, I'll correct you, but not for long. Get it, got it?" "Yup." "Good."
"Now. Walk straight forward, back the way you came to get here. Make your way to the other end of the castle, to the opposing wall." "Okay..." And he walked. He started slow, unsure, but slowly picked up he pace, more confident in himself as he walked the courtyard.
He limboed under 2 tree branches like the Matrix, and hopped over 4 rocks. He walked dead around a tree, and stopped a foot or two from the wall. I didn't correct him once. "Jeez Jason! You coulda told me you were a natural!" "Wait. I did it?" "Yeah!"
"Oh! I didn't know I was a natural. If I knew, I'd have told you!" Okay... So he's super good at it already. The insanity I could feel waking up. "Ian! Come here quick." He came running. "Yah?" "Go hug Jason. No words, just hug him. Trust me, it's for his health." "Okay?" An she went over.
He wrapped his arms around Jason, who had a temporary moment of panic. Recognizing the person, Jason hugged him back, and he buried his head in the dip of Ian's neck. "Hi, buddy. What's up?" I walked over, being quiet. "My head hurts... Sky...???"
Jason released Ian, and put a gloved hand against his head, resting it on a bone. "Sky?!" I ran over, and put a hand on Jason's shoulder. "You okay?" His energy had started to shiver, and it worried me. "No..."
"Come on Jason." I lifted him into my arms, and carried him to his room. I set him in bed, and found his blanket. I handed it to him, and he stole it from my hand. "Rest, Jason. This took a lot out of you. Take a nap, lay there quietly, as long as you aren't up and about, I don't care what you do. Just breathe, Jason."
And he fell asleep right then and there with me sitting with him.
