Everything was going to be fine

They had been running through their songs for almost the whole day and Seonghwa could tell his bandmates had other places they'd rather be. But he was trying to keep his anger in check, especially this close to the competition, so he ended practice early. They played it off as not a big deal but everyone was pretty excited to have the night off.

"We're thinking of heading down to the arcade if you want to join us?" smiled Wooyoung as Mingi and Yunho headed to their room to grab money.

"I think I'll pass but thank you," Seonghwa smiled softly. He didn't want to risk getting upset so he figured avoiding them and continuing his work alone would be best. He also wasn't really feeling up for it anyways.

"Alright but if you get lonely up here you can always join us!" Wooyoung reassured him as a knock on the door signaled Mingi and Yunho were ready to go.

"Don't just sit up here and be lonely okay? The competition is close and you deserve to have some fun," Wooyoung called as he walked out the door.

Seonghwa smiled sadly. He wasn't in any mood to be having fun. They had less than a few weeks until their first performance and he wasn't confident in any of their songs. But he knew how hard his bandmates had been working and as much as he couldn't make himself take a break, he knew that they needed it.

Now alone, he turned back to his recordings from the practice and began taking notes. In the first song he caught a few chords where Wooyoung had been just a bit behind and marked it down in the music. He then heard his own chorus where he mixed up one of the words and cringed as he left a note to practice that part more.

After an hour or so of working he grew tired of it as well and realized he could actually use a break. He wasn't quite feeling up for a wild night at the arcade but he remembered the hotel had a pool so he threw on a suit and headed down.

He was relieved when there were no people in the pool and walked to a set of chairs close to the door to set his towel down. He took a deep breath before wading into the lukewarm pool water. Once he was adjusted to the temperature he leaned onto his back and floated for a bit looking up at the ceiling. He always enjoyed watching how the light reflected off of the pool creating an enchanting display over the wooden beams. He smiled a bit, finally feeling pretty calm. The competition would go well. Everything was going to be fine. He closed his eyes as he floated, listening to the water moving calmly around him until a voice interrupted the silence.

"Seonghwa?"
