Chapter 27

Jennifer

"Alright, I need to go. It was nice meeting you. Goodbye." I said with chattering teeth.

"Wait." Lincoln said, grabbing my hand again and I quickly got it out of his grip. What is up with him grabbing my hand like he has a right to do it as if being my fake boyfriend gave him some sort of privileges.

"I'm cold. Please make it quick because I really need to change my clothes." He was about to comment about the same but I beat him to it, "I have extra clothes in the car so you don't need to worry about it. I'm sure my friend is waiting by the car anyway. Alright? Are we cool now?"

"Okay. But-" He seemed to take a moment as he ran his hand through his hair. "Your bag?" He shoved my bag into my view by pulling it off his back. He was carrying my bag all this time? I almost forgot about my belongings.

I took my bag from him, "Again, thank you so much for everything. I really am late. I need to go." I pulled out the map out of my bag and then slung it over my shoulders.

"When will you return my jacket?" I looked down at me and surely my clothes aren't see-through like I thought they would be and for all I know there must be people who did the ruined makeup look on purpose so I'll be fine I guess.

I started taking off my bag first to take off the jacket next but he stopped me. "I meant after dry cleaning." He bit his lip and put his hands in his pants pockets.

His face looked a little flushed to be honest when it was me who fell into the freaking fountain.

"I can't get that done now if you ask me." I said pointedly because Mr. Reynolds must be waiting for me and the wet clothes doesn't help either.

"Give me your number, I'll add it to my contact list. We can stay in touch so you can return my jacket." I sneezed and said a "Sorry," followed by him saying, "Bless you."

"My phone broke or you can say it fell from my hands while I was on the pendulum ride. I don't think you'll be able to do that at the moment." I pointed out shifting between one foot and the other. I'm drenched for god's sake. I need to change my clothes.

Scanning my surrounding, I noticed that we are in front of the well of the bewitched.

Coincidentally, at that moment, I saw a little boy around five years old with my phone as its back cover has little cute drawings made by none other than Walter, Kathy, Monica and Audrey.

Walter drew little clouds, Kathy being an artist drew an actual heart, Audrey drew a stick drawing of her with stars surrounding it while Monica put on red lipstick and kissed the little paper instead of actually drawing something but it looks so cute.

My phone's being taped to the scooter which he is circling around us. By the looks of it it has already fallen pretty badly after all it suffered the stroke of falling down from such great height.

"Wait, little kid. That is my phone." I said as I took two steps towards him to fetch my poor phone but he continued to circle around us. Kids can be annoying at times.

Where are his parents? Shouldn't they check on their kids? Why would they let him roam free around here? And most importantly, Why wouldn't they submit my phone at the lost and found center?

"Wait, that's yours?" Lincoln asked, puzzled as he looked at me for some sort of confirmation. Yeah, like I would claim a kid's phone to be mine. I narrowed my eyes at him but still nodded to answer his question. I noticed the kid punching the phone a few times and mumbling, "Why won't it work?"

"Hello, I'm Jennifer. That is my phone. Thanks for finding it." I said sweetly as no matter what that kid is doing to my already broken phone, he is still a kid.

"Finders keepers." He laughed and started to go away at an awfully slow pace, I don't think he knows how to drive the scooter. Before I could say anything I felt Lincoln's hand on my shoulder stopping me.

"Let me handle him." Lincoln then approached the kid, put his hand on the handle of his scooter and crouched down to come to an eye level with him.

I couldn't hear what they were talking about but what that kid did next shocked me. He pulled out my phone from the tape he put around it and ran in the direction of the well. Is he going to throw it into the well? I ran after him but ended up tripping and falling straight on my butt. You have got to be kidding me.

I don't think I'll ever be able to see my only video with Mr. Reynolds. Maybe it's a sign or something that I should stay away from him.

Lincoln caught up with the kid to snatch my phone before it fell right into the well.

"Damn. Now I won't be able to get the new video game." The kid announced loudly before running away. "Here." Lincoln said as he took my hand in his and put my phone on my palm but didn't let go of my hand.

"Lincoln, thank you for saving my phone. It really means a lot to me that you saved it right in time before it fell." I gave him a genuine smile.

"No problem, Jennifer." He let go of my hand after that and I put my phone in the jacket's pocket.

"I should note down your number cause you're not capable of doing that at the moment." He pulled out a pen from his pants pocket while his hair was almost in his eyes from the wind.

"Are you serious?" I looked at him incredulously as he put his arm towards me after handing me the pen.

"Yes, I'm serious. Trust me I have never done this before but my friend has my phone right now and thanks to you we have lost him." It took me a moment to realise what he was trying to say.

"Those guys who kept looking at us, were your friends." My mouth hung open. He must have enjoyed the show I pulled out there by running from one place to another. It's really embarrassing.

I pulled out my left hand without looking up at him and said, "Since my phone is broken it would be best if you give me your number. I'll text you as soon as I can."

He took my hand in his and wrote down his number and name in very neat handwriting. Like he does calligraphy or something. I looked up at him to notice him looking back at me. I gave him a small smile and then we parted ways for good.

"I'll see you around." I didn't say anything as I walked off towards the Haunted House. I looked back to make sure that Lincoln wasn't following me. Thankfully, he's not as he is busy wishing something at the well of the bewitched.

Lincoln is a nice guy to be honest if it weren't for him, Mr. Lee would have probably doubted me and Mr. Reynolds. I hope his wish comes true. Then I took a quick turn towards the photo booth.

As expected, Mr. Reynolds was waiting for me, leaning against the photo booth.

"We need to leave." I said as soon as I approached him. A smile pulled up on his face as soon as he heard my voice but it dropped the moment he noticed my current state.

"Oh god, you are drenched. Are you okay? What happened? Are you hurt anywhere? And whose jacket is that?" He bombarded me with questions while he inspected my face and hands for possible injuries. It did something to my heart. I felt his warmth through his touch. I love his touch. If it were up to me, I would keep holding his hand every time he is around me.

"Oh yeah, I fell into that fountain in the middle of the cafeteria. No big deal though. And a guy gave me this to cover up." I said with a smile as I saw him getting worked up for me. This strange feeling that warmed my heart wouldn't go away even after he let go of my hand.

"You should have been more careful. Does it hurt anywhere?" I shook my head and he took a sigh of relief.

A/N: Thank you everyone for coming this far. I truly appreciate your love and support.
