Chapter 25

Stepping foot on this ride turned out to be the worst decision of my life when I practically landed on someone's lap to be precise as I let go of the backrest to get the bangs out of my eyes.
My embarrassment record reached a record high when I tried to get away from the stranger's lap only to be pulled back down on them harder than before.
God, I just hope this gets over soon so I could get off like nothing happened and get to my day-to-day life where I don't need to ride Tagada to tick it off the list of things I want to do before getting married.
Now I understand what Mr. Reynolds meant when he said he's so done with Tagada. This ride is a nightmare. I should've listened to him. But no, I had to argue with that poor man every single damn time. I can imagine him looking at me with the biggest smirk plastered on his face with a I-told-you-so expression.
Now I feel you Mr. Reynolds.
I'm so done with it as well.
"Are you guys a couple?" Someone shouted from beside us.
"No."
"We could be." We said simultaneously that my eyes went wide at his response and I looked up at him and good lord that face. He has messy blond hair and light blue captivating eyes with a jawline modeling agencies die for.
He has painted his lips black with a few lines around. His eyes are covered by black eyeshadow as well as his nose. There are a few small red dots around his cheeks. His makeup is stunning to be honest as if he had it done by a professional makeup artist. With effects as if the area around his eyes is stitched up while his eyebrows are painted black as well.
Wait.
Is he famous or something?
No doubt he looks like someone I have watched on television.
Monica would definitely know him if he's famous.
I gulped when I felt his arm circling my waist a little tighter than earlier.
"What are you doing?" I shrieked out as I held the railing harder than before.
"Protecting you so you won't end up with fractured bones." He said with amusement.
"I wish I had a valid point to rub off on your face." I said under my breath but obviously he heard it because of the close proximity. He started laughing hysterically and I turned around just in time to catch the handbag which might have hit him across the face.
"I just saved your majestic face. So technically, I don't owe you anything anymore." I tried to say it confidently but it came out sounding weird because this ride is a disaster.
"Majestic huh." He smirked. The ride finally stopped, making me feel more dizzy than before. I quickly stood up but instantly regretted the action and took a seat on the floor-or you can say I fell off because of my dizzy head and poor balance.
"That's what-" I took a deep breath, "you got from what I said. Men." I put a hand on my heart to calm it down. My vision is slightly blurry. It feels as if everything around me is still spinning. I shut my eyes tightly.
"Aren't you going to get down? Or are you planning on riding it again? Because I won't be there to save a damsel in distress." He said but I didn't feel him leaving either.
"Don't be ridiculous." I opened my eyes and noticed him bending down to my level. He pulled out his hand for me to take and I noticed a ring on his other hand.
"Are you engaged or something?" I asked without thinking much about it.
"Does that make you upset?" He retorted without answering. Like I care. I was about to make a sarcastic remark when a loud sound went off.
"Hey, you two." Someone shouted, making us look simultaneously in the same direction. "Are you guys going to get off or you want to go for round two?"
"What?" My eyes went wide making this guy laugh at my expense, "No, thank you. I want to get off." He held out his hand to help me get up but I politely declined. I get up with a bit of difficulty but at least my head is not spinning anymore. Noticing that people have started getting on for experiencing the horror with a smile on their faces, I quickly started to walk off this ride which is by descending stairs. God, in these wobbly legs I might end up falling down the stairs.
"I'm not engaged. Although he was right when he said all I need is a fake engagement ring and you'll find people showing interest." He said out of the blue while we were descending the stairs at an abnormally slow pace.
"You seem oddly familiar to me, I can't pinpoint where I have seen you though." I said because honestly I want to know who the hell this person is. It's like you have known a celebrity your whole life but when you actually meet them in person you can't even recognize them.
"That's fascinating." That's all he said and we finally got off the stairs which seemed like a never ending task.
I'm not good at parting ways. Should I say goodbye or just walk off without saying anything. If we say goodbye and then we head off in the same direction, that would be super awkward.
"Hey, princess. Back to earth." He said waving his hand in front of me.
"Umm then I guess that's it." What am I saying? Stupid. I looked around to look for Mr. Reynolds but he was nowhere in sight. He said to be around that photo booth but I couldn't see him from this far.
"Are you looking for someone?"
"Obviously, do I look like someone who would come alone?" I said and started walking off in the direction of the photo booth all the while looking at my surroundings for any sign of my crush. I should look around. He will be somewhere here.
"Did your friend ditched you? Don't worry, I'll accompany you." He said with a small smile and I scoffed.
I noticed that the Ice-Cream place is just adjacent to the photo booth and I totally forgot about it after Mr. Reynolds suggested that we should have something to drink first.
There's a castle on the far left where the fireworks are gonna start anytime soon. I can't miss that. I want to witness that sight with Mr. Reynolds beside me and not this guy.
'Hell is empty and all the devils are here-William Shakespeare' It is written in bold right beside the shop where Mr. Reynolds won stuff toys for me which I didn't notice before.
There's a man dressed in all black blowing bubbles and the kids are loving it as they have made a circle around him.
There's a beautiful cafeteria with indoor as well as outdoor sitting area. There's a fountain with the statue of a couple holding each other in the middle of the outdoor area surrounded by tables. I can't believe I walked past such a mesmerizing place without a single glance.
'Follow your feelings' Sign is just in front of the Ferris Wheel where Mr. Reynolds told me that he enjoyed looking into my eyes better than the actual view. Oh my god I can't stop the blush that is creeping up my face. I didn't notice all of these things while I was walking side by side with him, talking to him.
"What's your name?" I stopped abruptly as I almost forgot that guy who looked straight-out-of-TV is still here with me. What is he even doing here? Did he come here alone? Maybe he's lonely and he thinks that I am pretending to not be alone so he's thinking about having my company. That must be it.
I am already living a double life with two surnames and really don't want to add a third to the list because there's no way I would give a name to him after that embarrassing Tagada incident. I would rather he forgets me forever.
"Why are you still here? Isn't anybody waiting for you or something?" I questioned. I am going to be alone until I find Mr. Reynolds. That's another thing that my phone broke and lost. Despite getting a warning from Mr. Reynolds that I should put it back in my pocket, I wanted to take a video for memory and now my ability to contact people has become a memory.
I have no means to contact Mr. Reynolds. Should I go to the parking lot instead? Should I go to the lost person counter and announce, 'Mr. Reynolds, please come pick me up'. Eh, that's too much. He will be around the photo booth. I just need to look for him. Even though he doesn't have his phone with him. I feel embarrassed that I remember his number by heart but couldn't contact him.
"It's settled then. I'll call you Mavis for now." I am surprised that he knows that I'm sporting Mavis's look. That piqued my interest. I was being rude to him when in fact he helped me during the ride. I know I might have embarrassed myself more if it weren't for him.
"Wait. Are you dressed as Miguel from coco?" I asked as I just noticed he is wearing white t-shirt with blue jeans and a red jacket. I should have been able to tell by the makeup but I was worried about my life more at that moment.
"Thanks for noticing. I thought you were never gonna guess." He put his hand on his chest dramatically.
"Dramatic much? Fine, I will also call you Miguel for now."
"I can help you find your friend if you want. I won't leave you alone until you find your friend."
"Alright, rich guy. Don't forget me when you are out there donating your wealth." I joked.
"Trust me I won't." He smirked and then shook his head. He is giving golden retriever energy.
Something is suspicious, I can see a man looking our way too much for it to be a coincidence. Then another guy caught my attention who tapped his bluetooth to maybe answer a call. Are they together? No way, you've been watching way too many movies to think that someone is watching you. Right now, I am with someone who has potential to be an actor so for all I know they are his crazy fans and have nothing to do with me.
Without thinking twice, I grabbed his hand and started running.
"What? Why are we running?" He questioned but didn't once protest against running.
"Shut up and run fast." I looked back to check if they were following us and hell yeah they were so I started running faster.
"I mean I am not complaining if it's you who's taking me somewhere private." He gave me a meaningful look like he just discussed what I should pursue after university.
"Shut up. I think someone's following us."
"Alright, Mavis. I always run early in the morning so it's no big deal for me. You should have seen the look on your face when the operator asked if we want to go through another round of Tagada. I swear you looked as if you've seen a ghost. I never thought about coming to this Adventure Park..." After a while I stopped listening to him while he blabbered and I looked for ways to get through this crowd faster.
I only stopped when I was sure we lost them. Miguel was about to say something when I accidentally stumbled from all the running and collided into someone.
I turned to apologize but my eyes went wide after I spotted him.
Oh my god.
