Chapter 22

A small smile was playing on his lips, "What's your perfect day looks like?"

"My perfect day... it would be meeting my brother and best friends, coffee, bookstore and gazing at the night sky." And with you in it if only for just for a few seconds. He does make a teeny tiny impact or maybe more than I would like to agree.

"Sounds good." He didn't look at me. He just looked straight ahead like a good driver should. His side profile, heavens. I just couldn't look away. I always wondered why people do that but when someone as hot as Mr. Reynolds is driving, showing all those muscles and that thing where the guy moves the steering wheel with one hand, God! So hot, you can't help staring.

I shouldn't look at him like that. What if he notices something in my gaze. Nah, he wouldn't. Guys are clueless as far as I know. I mean I used to have a crush on Walter's best friend and to this day he has no idea that I had feelings for him. And now that I have no feelings for him so it means I won't have feelings for Mr. Reynolds after a while. That's the spirit that keeps me going.

"I was wondering, how did you know that I like Godiva chocolates?" Like he said, I could ask anything. The catch is as long as it doesn't offend him, obviously.

"You might not remember but I once came to Adam's class to get his locker keys, that's when I noticed you and your friend stuffing your mouths with a handful of chocolates. That's when I spotted the Godiva box that fell from Ms. Peterson's hand. It was quite funny though." My mouth was hung open. I didn't expect that.

I am speechless. It was one of the embarrassing moments and so far I have had way too many embarrassing moments with him than I ever intended to after that hallway incident but I keep on setting the record higher than earlier. I can safely say I'm an embodiment of embarrassment.

I remember that day, Kathy and I were practicing for the fastest eater competition that was to take place a day after that day and we ate chocolates only because Mr. Lee and Mr. Reynolds were talking to each other and we thought they wouldn't notice. And to be honest, it gave us a thrill to finish the chocolates before anyone noticed and we thought nobody really noticed.

"I should have never asked you that question. Can you just pretend you never saw that?" I said putting my hands on my face.

"Not happening." I looked through my fingers to notice him shaking his head with a chuckle.

I looked down as my phone vibrated. Nice, a distraction. A text.

Axel:
Why? Are you out on a date?

Me:
No, I'm not. Just in case Kathy asks you, tell her I'm with you.

Axel:
Alright! Have a nice date;)

What is up with people assuming my whereabouts?

I searched for questions to ask someone to get to know them because my mind is reeling with what Kathy and Alex implied that I am on a date right now when I'm definitely not. Don't let your mind go that way, Jen. Don't, Jen.

"Do you know what this site wants me to ask you?" He shook his head so I continued, "What's on your mind?"

"You," He replied but when I raised my eyebrows, he added, "You, as in what you are going to ask."

Before I could ask him the next question, we took a stop at a costume shop as Mr. Reynolds bought nothing to get into the vampirish look.

When I convinced him to try not one, not two, but three freaking costumes I was smirking so wide that I thought that my mouth might have stuck like that forever.

We continued to chit chat with light music playing in the background through speakers and when we weren't talking there was comfortable silence. It turned out to be one of the best car rides I have ever been to.

After a drive of about two hours we finally reached our destination. I took my things from the back seat and noticed a folder tucked under a coat, only the word 'Confidential' was visible.

Mr. Reynolds rounded the car and took his coat along with the folder. He looked somewhat stressed so I asked, "Is everything all right?"

"Yes. Shall we go?"

"What's that?" I pointed towards the folder he tucked inside his suitcase.

"Next week's assignment which you should not know about before I made it so." He shut the door after grabbing the costume he'd wear. There are changing rooms so you don't have to leave home sporting cosplay and all that.

"Does my hair look alright?" I asked to make sure it doesn't look out of place especially since I put on fake bangs to pull up the look of Mavis perfectly.

He didn't say anything but started to set my hair with both hands. Once he tucked my front hair behind my ears he nodded while I just stood there like-what the hell just happened? Why is my heart beating so fast? Am I having a heart attack? Nah, I'm too young for that. His proximity seems to be the only reason coming to my mind. How can a simple action of him tucking my hair can make my heart go wild?

I stayed close to Mr. Reynolds as he handed our tickets to the person at one of the counters. He said, "Mr. Ryan Reynolds and the guest". Was he telling the truth when he said we can't get the entry without his face? I shrugged the thought aside.

Once we were in our costumes and makeup-yes, I managed to put on some makeup on Mr. Reynolds much to his dismay-we grabbed the map of the amusement park. Damn, this place is truly a wonder. It has a dreamy look with the smoke and everything appears to be straight out of a fantasy novel. Thank god, I saw the tickets that day. Otherwise, I would have been deprived of such a great experience.

"Your smokey eyes look perfect with your look." I commented once the girls who were giggling looking at him were finally out of earshot. He is dressed in all black with a little fake blood around his mouth and neck.

"Oh, please. It was you who told me that I would look like a clown if I don't blend in so stop making fun of me." Only if he knew that from my vantage point, he is the only perfect man I've ever set eyes on. Mr. Reynolds looked absolutely gorgeous as he dressed as Damon Salvatore. I wish I could stop myself from having a crush on him but right now as I look into his eyes it seems a nearly impossible scenario.

"You really look good." I think someone called my name but I'm sure I'm not the only Jennifer in here plus I don't think anyone I know will be here so I ignored it and continued to walk towards the first ride by Mr. Reynolds by my side.

We went on a pendulum swing first, strapped to the seats with over-the-shoulder restraints.

The swing started at a slow pace at first and it was lovely. "Wow. It's the best feeling ever." I said as I looked at Mr. Reynolds who seemed to agree as he nodded.

"The view from up there will be spectacular. I should record this." I pulled out my phone from my pocket and started recording.

"Don't you think it's dangerous to use your phone on a ride like this." He said as he tried to grab my phone from my hand and accidentally came into the frame of the camera.

"Dangerous? It's not like we are going to be hanging upside down." I shoved his hand away and right that moment the ride went higher than before.

"Are you sure about that?" Before I could make up my mind for a reply, we were suddenly upside down. One second, the phone was in my hands and the other it was heading to its demise as it fell from my hands.

"My phone." I shouted as if that's going to bring it back to me. I am no spider-man who could just pull out webs from his hands and catch the things before they fall so I just tried to focus on the location it will land which is nearly impossible considering the ride we are in.

"I warned you." Mr. Reynolds said, clutching his shoulder bars tightly. The ride was good, almost making me forget about my phone until we got down from it and I started searching for it.

I couldn't find it anywhere so I decided to report my missing phone to the lost and found centre.
