Chapter 15
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Jennifer
After spending a week apart, we decided that we'll do a sleepover at my apartment to catch up. We munched on the food hungrily even though we had eaten just a few hours ago at that cute cafe.
"Jen, see this and you can thank me later." Kathy said, winking. She passed me her phone while bowing a little. I looked at her curiously before I took the phone out of her hand.
All I saw on the screen was...
Name: Axel Dawson (He got freaking dimples)
Age: 20
Height: 5' 9"
Hobbies: Loves to sing and knows how to play guitar (plus point)
Dating history: Only one girl (I didn't believe that at first, I guess you're lucky ;))
Address... and so on. What is this??
"Are you sure you wanted me to see this? I guess this is for Monica." I showed the screen to Kathy before passing the phone to Monica, who mindlessly took it from my hand just to put it on the table because she was busy ogling someone's shirtless picture on Instagram.
"Silly girl, obviously that's for you. Remember that guy from the workshop, these are his details." Kathy said lightly smacking my head. All I did was stare at her in disbelief.
That was way faster than I anticipated. But that's not the point here. You weren't supposed to say such things in the first place. Now how would I get out of this situation? I mentally face palmed myself for my stupidity.
"Pass me your phone." Kathy said and I did without thinking twice.
I saw her searching something on my Instagram while trying to hide it from me. I looked over her shoulder to see what is she up to and oh shit. She searched up his profile.
"Hey, stop." I said, but it all went in vain as she followed Axel Dawson from my profile.
She started running around the apartment as I tried hard to take my phone back from her evil hands. I followed her, but before I could snatch the phone out of her hands she went inside the washroom and quickly locked the door.
"Kathy I'll kill you, I want my phone back right now." I said banging on the door. She opened the door and put the phone on my palm with her kind of signature smirk.
I checked my phone and my jaw dropped to the ground as she basically liked every single picture on his account.
"Kathy why did you... ugh forget it." I said a little restless. Breathe in, breathe out.
What's done is done!! No one can change that. He would have probably seen the notifications by now.
We went back to the living room and noticed that Monica hadn't moved a bit and was still ogling the shirtless picture of a man unknown to us.
"Monica are you going to stop staring at this person's shirtless picture anytime soon?" I asked and Monica jumped out of her seat.
"Ah, I was... sorry okay." She said lamely. She then took a seat properly after placing her phone on the table facing down.
"You know this guy Brent Miller, he's a billionaire with charming looks and an incredible mind. So the main point of telling you guys is that..." She stood up on the chair and we looked up at her to continue.
"He's freaking gonna come to my house to discuss some business stuff with dad that I'll be attending and now I need to buy some new stuff. You guys gotta help." Monica finished and dust up the chair before taking her seat back.
"Oh yeah, count us in." I said, giving a high-five to her.
"You remember that one shoulder red dress." Kathy said, looking at Monica but she wasn't paying attention. Kathy and I shared a look as she was probably admiring something behind us.
"Sexy..." Monica said, looking behind me, tilting her head and placing it on her hand in the process which was already placed on the table with the support of her elbow.
I turned around and spotted Walter entering my apartment looking messy as his tie was loosely hanging around his neck with the sleeves of his shirt rolled up till his elbows. I walked up to him and quickly embraced him.
"Jen" He said softly embracing me
"I wanted to talk to you." He said after pulling back from the embrace while looking a little worried.
"Ah, okay..." I said and turned around to spot Monica and Kathy looking at us.
"I didn't know you were having company." Walter said, scratching the back of his head and waving at both of them saying a quick 'hello'.
"Oh yeah, we planned a sleepover." I replied.
"Then I should probably leave. We can discuss it tomorrow. Good night, bye." He said and started to walk towards the door. I dashed after him and grabbed his hand in order to stop him.
"Hey, please stay. It's quite late and you look tired. Moreover, I wanna know whatever you have in store." I said pouting at him. He pulled my cheeks like I'm a five year old girl which made me smack his head playfully.
He looked beside me which made me turn around to look at them. Kathy immediately understood that we needed some space to talk so she grabbed Monica's arm and dragged her towards the Kitchen.
He stayed silent until they both disappeared.
"Congrats on getting your apartment back." He said looking deep in thought.
"Duh, I know." I said, smiling but he just nodded with furrowed brows.
"Aren't you happy about it?" I asked, to which he immediately shook his head.
"No, I mean there is a condition." It was my turn to furrow my eyebrows at him because as far as I remember I never heard dad telling me any sort of conditions attached.
"You know, Mom might have talked to Dad after you left and kinda convinced him to not let you stay here." He said slowly waiting for my reaction.
"She what?" I asked in utter disbelief.
"But now you can stay here on one condition that you agree to join the company of their choice to learn business." He said pressing his lips together in a thin line. I knew that they'd definitely do something like that. Ugh.
"Umm... well, I think I'm okay with it. Is there anything else?" I asked, hoping that there's no other brand new information.
"Actually, there is... You know I was working in my office when mom and dad entered out of the blue and threw some papers on the table. At first I was confused, but when I looked up the papers there were details of some random girl. They launched a bomb on me by letting me know that I've to get engaged with that girl." He said running his fingers through his hairs several times looking frustrated.
"OH MY GOD, that was unexpected. Why are they hella annoying." I said, slightly shaking my head.
"I'm getting engaged to her in a month's time." He said massaging his temples.
"Walter, I wish I could do something or probably could only wish the girl back off from this arrangement." I said that, but deep down I know no sane person would reject a guy like my brother. He's the best one could ask for.
"I wish I could have fainted just like you." He laughed a little to lighten the mood. But I know he must be stressed up right now.
"By the way, what's the name of that girl?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Elyna Romanowski" I think I've heard this name but couldn't put a face to the name.
"As in the daughter of Malcolm Romanowski?" Monica suddenly came into view and I looked at her to notice that she's biting her lip. I looked back at Walter to notice him nodding, looking nowhere in particular.
"Oh noooooo, she's a complete bitch. She's a bitchy bitch. I mean she's trouble. Remember I told you about my cousin who returned a few weeks back after studying psychology. That's her." She rambled on and on about how she made Monica look bad everywhere with false accusations, how she stole her boyfriend, how she filed fake complaints of harassment against one of the innocent boys who had a crush on Monica and what not.
"This is a serious matter." Monica took a few steps to reach where Walter was standing and took hold of his hand which made him look at her in surprise. She dialed someone's number on her phone while dragging him towards the balcony. I really feel bad for him.
Kathy and I washed the utensils while chit chatting. She told me that Mr. Reynolds used to ask about me daily after the end of the class by making Kathy stay for a minute after the class. I don't know why, but it feels so good to know that he asked about me.
"Hey, we aren't done yet." Walter's angry voice echoed in the living room. We both quickly dropped the washing work to get to them.
"Hey, we aren't done yet." Monica said, imitating him which made me laugh. Walter narrowed his eyes at me, to which I mimed closing up the imaginary zip on my mouth.
"I didn't sound like that. I suppose this is your original voice which you were trying hard to subside with that girly voice of yours." He said shooting daggers at her.
"You know what... I forgot to say this out loud before, but you're a pig." Monica said, stomping her foot on the floor. It made him gasp at her.
"H-how dare you?" Walter said, placing his right hand harshly on the drawer dresser near him.
"Huh" Monica gave him a quick glance and rolled her eyes at him. I wonder what Monica did to make him this much angry.
"This conversation is not yet over." He said, giving her a pointed look.
"But I'm done." Monica said, crossing her arms across her chest.
"Jen, you were right when you said that looks could be deceiving." Monica said before she turned on her heels and went towards the direction of my room followed by Kathy.
I just shake at my head at the silliness of my best friend and dearest brother.
"I've to say this, your friend is mentally unstable. She keeps on talking rubbish." Walter said, shaking his head like every single thing is wrong in this world. There's no point in asking either of them what happened so I decided to let go of this topic.
"We are going to watch some movies. Would you like to join us?" I asked him
"As long as she's here, I'll be happy to do some office work rather than watching a movie in the same room as your friend." Walter said which made me narrow my eyes at him.
"Walter you need to calm down. I think you should take some rest." I said lightly pushing him in the direction of his room.
He sighs, "Good night, Jen." He said and kissed the top of my head. He then went towards his room. Good thing he had a room in my apartment with his stuff.
"Good night." I said and went straight to my room to notice Monica and Kathy selecting a movie to watch.
"Have you decided yet?" I asked them.
"To all the boys I've loved before or Crazy rich Asians??" Kathy asked
"How about watching both?" I asked, looking between the both of them.
"Yes, why not." Monica said cheerfully. We brought the ice cream and started watching the movie.
I decided to turn off all the alarms on my phone so I grabbed my phone from the night stand beside the bed post and noticed a few texts that caught my attention.
Axel Dawson: "I see someone is stalking me ;)"
It wasn't his text that caught my attention, but a text from an unknown number
Unknown:
We have been looking for you long enough
But now the wait is over -00:00 am
This must be a prank right?
A/N: Whom do you think sent that message?
Do you think it was a right decision of Jennifer to agree to join the office to learn business rather than moving back to her parent's house?
What do you think Monica and Walter talk about?
Thank you to all the people who are still reading this story after my disappearance for like a month.
Hope you all have a great day ahead <3
Xoxo
