Chapter 14

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Jennifer

We exited the lecture hall and I regretted it immediately after what I saw next. Monica was talking to him, I mean out of all the homo sapiens who reside on Mother Earth she has to talk to this one. Yes, I'm talking about none other than Hiten.

At that moment, I promised myself that I won't let this idiot make me go back to that prison. I'm not gonna tolerate his behaviour anymore, so that dummy better be prepared.

"What is he doing here?" Kathy asked me, eyeing him.

"That's what I was thinking. Let's get back inside the lecture hall before he sees us." I suggested.

"I'm afraid he already saw us." She pointed towards them with her eyes. Ugh
We walked towards them reluctantly, but they didn't seem to notice it.

"Just wave your hand and don't bother saying any greetings." Kathy whispered to me.

"I was never planning to do so." I winked at her. Once we got to them, we both waved at him weirdly if you ask me.

"Hey Kathy" He said, waving at Kathy. "And my baby, I can't explain how much I've missed you in the past week." He said coming closer for a hug....? What the actual heck?

I quickly bent down, fake tying my perfectly tied shoe laces. I looked up and saw him backing off.

"So do you wanna hang out baby?" He asked, still looking at me. I looked at Kathy and saw her shooting daggers at him.

"We are going to a cafe. You wanna join us?" Monica asked him. She must be kidding. Right?

"Of course, darling." He said looking at me. Can't Monica see that? I stood up abruptly.

"Not at all. It's..." I looked at my watch to check the time, but instead I noticed that my bracelet wasn't there. My grandmother's bracelet. I feel like I can't breathe anymore.

"What's wrong? Why are you panicking?" Kathy asked, looking concerned, holding me by my shoulders.

"My bracelet. It's not here." I showed her my forearm. "I........ can't lose it" I said anxiously. How can I lose it in the first place? I started to look around mindlessly for any trace of it.

"Relax Jen we'll help you in finding it. I'll go check in the lecture hall, Kathy you go check in the room no 16 where we had our last class and Hiten can you please check in the cafeteria. And Jenny I guess you went to the washroom before going to the cafeteria, you should check there." Monica said urgently.

"Now quick!!" She said and everyone nodded. I quickly ran towards the washroom.

That bracelet is so special to me. My grandmother gave it to me when I turned fifteen. She told me that the bracelet belonged to her mother and it was so close to her. She had no daughter of her own and she never liked my mother for obvious reasons, so she gave it to me.

She had always loved me wholeheartedly and supported me. I can't lose it. It was the last gift I received from her before she left me alone in this world. I have to find it by hook or by crook.

After looking at every spot in the college, I still couldn't find it. By this time, I'm so tired.

A text from Kathy popped up saying that they couldn't find it either, but they are still trying.

I lost it. I lost the last thing she gave me. I'm so sorry grandma. Tears started to pile up in my eyes. I rushed towards the one place where peace welcomes me wholeheartedly.

I reached the top floor of the library and sat down at the end of the last aisle. I sobbed pulling my knees closer to my chest. After some time, I heard footsteps coming near to where I was sitting. I quickly wiped away my tears with the back of my hands.

"CR, what are you doing here?" It was Mr. Reynolds' voice which subconsciously made me look up at him.

"Have you been crying?" I can see the genuine concern in his eyes.

"Umm..." I can't lie as he already saw my eyes, which I'm quite sure would be red by now. When I didn't comprehend anything he sat down next to me.

"What's wrong?" He asked so softly that for a minute I melted, but I put myself back together. I cast him a look and noticed the pleading look in his eyes, which made me sigh.

"I lost my bracelet, someone special gave it to me." I told him. He seemed to be in deep thought and at that very moment my phone started to vibrate so I immediately picked it up.

"Jen, I tried to look for the bracelet everywhere, but it's nowhere in sight. But we can put the picture of the bracelet on the college group and ask if anyone has seen it." Kathy suggested

"That's a great idea Kathy. I'll put the picture on the group immediately." I saw the bracelet in front of my eyes. MY GRANDMA'S BRACELET!!!

"Forget it, it's here." Saying that I cut the call. I grabbed the bracelet out of Mr. Reynolds hand and kissed it. Thank god. I pulled him in for a hug. When realisation dawned upon me, I pulled back from him in a rush.

"Umm... thank you. Where did you find it?" I asked him.

"I saw it laying near a desk when I was teaching the class this morning." He said. "Can I ask you a question?" He looked unsure for a moment.

"Yeah, sure." I said back with a smile on my face.

"Who is this special person?" He asked fidgeting his phone.

"My Grandma. This bracelet was the last gift from her." I told him

"You must have loved her so much." He said smiling

"I still love her the most." I said back, remembering the blissful time I've spent with my grandma.

"The last time I visited my grandmother, she pulled my ears saying something like 'when are you gonna give me my grandchildren?' and I was like seriously, I'm just twenty four, I don't even wanna marry at this age and she was talking about having kids." The thought of his grandma pulling his ears made me laugh a little.

"You should laugh more often." He said looking at me with an unknown emotion. My phone started vibrating again. I checked the caller id which showed Hiten's name so I ignored it.

"Are you going to get up or not?" He asked me with a heart warming smile.

No, I wanna sit here with you the entire day.

"You said something?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at me.

"I mean... yeah." I said nervously. I got up and dusted up my clothes.

"You came after a whole week." He said coming closer which in turn made me move backwards.

"My foot ache, r-remember." I said and straight away collided with one of the book stacks.

"Don't move." He said now coming dangerously close to me that I could practically feel his breath fanning my face when he spoke. It sent chills running down my spine and my heart beat skyrocketed. I felt as if I'm gonna have a heart attack and I subconsciously closed my eyes. What is happening to me? I never felt anything like that ever.

I felt his hand on the side of my head and in a swift motion it was nowhere in a second later. What is he doing? I quickly opened my eyes to look at him.

"There was a spider in your hair." As soon as the words escaped his mouth, I started to jump like a crazy person and shouted, "Ahhhhhh. Please... please... please... remove it... re-" His hand covered my mouth from screaming any further.

"I said there was. I removed it, so calm down. We're in a library." He said, pointing out our surroundings with his free hand and shrugging. He removed his hand when he was sure I wouldn't make any more annoying noises.

"Oh okay... I mean, thanks." I replied breathlessly.

I heard loud footsteps coming towards us so I pushed him away and picked out a random book from the stack to act as if I was reading it.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Reynolds." I turned around listening to the familiar voice of Kathy.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Peterson." Mr. Reynolds replied and left afterwards.

"What was that?" Kathy said, wiggling her eyebrows.

"What? Nothing." I replied as calmly as I could.

"If that's the case, then why are holding the book upside down?" Kathy said, chuckling and laughing at my stupidity.

"Where's Monica?" I tried to change the topic, but Kathy was adamant on the previous topic and continued to interrogate the whole situation that she just encountered.

"Okay! He found the bracelet and that's it. End of discussion." I said and started to walk out of the aisle.

"I'll suggest you to not pick up any calls from Hiten. I haven't told him yet that you found the bracelet." Kathy said, making me stop in my tracks.

"I'll never ever pick any calls from that goddamn pathetic and brainless clown." I said, smirking.

"That's like my savage girl." She said excitedly like she won a jackpot.

"You are the best." I walked up to her and hugged her. I pulled back and she grabbed the bracelet from my hand and tied it on my wrist.

"Now let's enjoy the treat at the new cafe without that chimpanzee aka brainless clown." We both laughed together at that.
