4. You've Been Hit By A Smooth Criminal

Isabela Moner or Merced now as Stefani

Happy reading!

Savannah and Khalifa were finally alone at last, and she genuinely felt as though this day would have never really come.

She had had feelings for him since goodness knew when and she had always wanted to tell him, she just didn't know how to.

Now was the right time to do so.

There weren't many people around them, more people were inside more than outside thankfully. It was either now or never.

Josiah, Reminisce and Kaiden had just gone to a shop because Kaiden didn't like what he was wearing.

They had all just arrived at Santorini State of the Arts for its induction. That had just left Savannah and Khalifa now, with Savannah thinking of what to say to it.

Screw it, she had thought to herself after a while. Imma just improvise. How hard can it be?

Very hard. They didn't really have anything in common.

Their conversation wasn't even long enough for Savannah to figure this out though, which was the problem.

"Khalifa?"

He was texting someone, stopping when he had heard Savannah say his name.

He frowned a little, freaking her out as well.

He's not happy. I probably interrupted something important, didn't I?

"What do you want, shawty?" He had asked her, not even looking at her.

He called me shawty! That means fine lady!

No, don't think too much about it. You're overthinking this, Savannah. Just tell him you like him and get the hell out of this situation already.

She didn't even care if things had gone badly, she just wanted to tell him. It had been five years.

At least they knew each other already.

They had just never really talked to each other before.

Khalifa didn't even like her because her sister didn't.

Savannah didn't like Reminisce because she had falsely accused her of cheating in a test, mistaking her for someone else.

It probably wasn't a mistake though. Reminisce knew Savannah had feelings for Khalifa, who was with someone else.

Back at that time anyway.

Reminisce had seen the way she had looked at him, like she wanted something bad to happen to his girlfriend.

"I need to tell you something."

He had looked at her dead in the eyes, tilting his head to the side.

"What do you want to tell me?"

Okay. Just breathe.

Forget the fact that Reminisce used to dislike you. She's your friend now.

And so is Khalifa!

I think?

They hadn't really talked today. She had noticed Khalifa staring at her at few times, but knowing him, he probably didn't even know he was staring.

He actually didn't.

As she was just about to say something, someone had interrupted her.

She had curly brown hair, was wearing a sky blue zipped up leather jacket, matching jeans and was very pretty.

"Yo Khalifa! Is that you!"

He didn't say anything, but the way his eyes had lit up when he had seen her made Savannah's huge smile drop.

"Stefaniii! You didn't tell me that you were here!"

Stefani was Khalifa's ex girlfriend.

The one he was in a relationship with before. They had broken up because she was an ex criminal.

Someone had found this out at school and it become a popular, but true rumour. Back then, she had been an ex criminal for five months.

Now it was nine.

People tried to tell Khalifa that she wasn't good for him as she was an ex criminal, but he had still given her a chance as she was an ex criminal and not an actual criminal anymore.

For someone who was his ex girlfriend, they were kissing each other as if they were an actual couple.

No way... but Khalifa said he broke up with her!

They must have gotten back together, but why?

"You never told me you were going Santorini State of the Arts!"

"Neither did you, boo," Stefani had beamed, with Khalifa laughing- their hands held. "Ooh, I gotta do something, but imma catch you later!"

She was looking at her friends in the far corner calling her over, when she had said that she needed to do something.

Khalifa had said that he would have definitely seen her later, waving at her.

She had blown him a kiss and he had done the same, turning around to find an infuriated Savannah folding her arms at him.

She wasn't even mad at him because he had chosen Stefani and not her. She was more so mad at him for being with her when he had told everybody that they had broken up.

He laughed, not saying anything else.

"You thought that break up at school was real?"

"You did a fake-"

"People kept pressuring me to break up with her when they found out she was an ex criminal, and the rumour was true. It got to the point where I couldn't do anything but listen to them because I was so frustrated." He had continued.

Khalifa didn't really care what people had thought, but there was only so much he could take before people had hit his limits.

Then he came real close to her, before saying anything else.

"And nobody knows it was a fake break up. Or that I'm still with her. Nobody from our school goes here or is going here except from our new friendship group and Tatiana. You are the only person that knows about me and Stefani right now. So if you tell anyone - especially those in the group, and I find out... then you're ultimately done for. You understand?"

She had understood, nodding.

Then Khalifa had turned to go back to her.

Savannah wouldn't let this happen, telling him that he wasn't really going back to see his ex criminal girlfriend was he?

When Khalifa had heard that, he didn't seem too pleased, turning around to face her again.

"She's an ex criminal! You deserve better!"

"Just 'cause she's an ex criminal doesn't mean she doesn't have a heart, hence why I gave her another chance," Khalifa had replied. "That's why she's an ex criminal. Y'all need to stop judging her before you meet her."

He had gone, with Savannah not knowing what to say (without fighting or arguing with him publicly) to make him stay.

Except from the fact that he was making a huge life threatening mistake being with her.

Once again, and for the last time too, Khalifa had turned around to look at her.

Then he had bursted out laughing when he had realised something.

"I see what this is about. You're jealous, aren't you! That's what you wanted to tell me, isn't it? You have feelings for me."

He wasn't wrong...

Although now Savannah couldn't get her head around why she had ever liked someone like him.

"Face it, Savannah. I'm with Stefani. Ex criminal or not. And there's nothing you can do to change that."

"You don't know what goes on behind the scenes- she could be committing crimes behind your back."

It was already too late though as he had covered his ears, telling her that he couldn't have heard her, and she was starting to become just as annoying as Reminisce even though she wasn't.

Savannah didn't want to argue with him in public, plus it had seemed as though he had already made his mind up about the whole thing.

She did text her friends though, telling them to hurry up, avoiding the whole Khalifa and Stefani situation.

Guys, where are you?

I'm worrying.

Khalifa is annoying me.

She couldn't say why.

She had sent those texts privately as she didn't want Khalifa knowing that she had been talking badly about him behind his back.

They didn't get to her, making her sigh as she had checked her phone.

Maybe staying with Khalifa wasn't the best idea after all, with Savannah groaning to herself.

In the meantime, Josiah, Reminisce and Kaiden had just arrived at a thrift shop near the school.

It was known as Santorini Souvenirs, which was apparently the best thrift store there.

All of the good clothes must have been taken or something because when the three of them had gotten there, the place didn't seem too great.

"See anything you like, Kaiden?" Josiah had asked, all of them looking around.

To be honest, they didn't really bring money with them like that. They didn't think they needed to do so, but they were clearly wrong.

"No. These clothes are worse than the ones in my wardrobe. And that's really say something. Nothing is worse than the clothes in my wardrobe. As far as I'm concerned."

Reminisce wanted to know exactly how much money they had on them and Josiah had told them 300 euros.

Which was a lot, but for wealthy people like them, most of them anyway, not so much.

There was this gender neutral silver jacket with stars on them that Reminisce had liked, and Kaiden had seemed to like it too it seemed - as both him and Reminisce had him were talking about it together.

"Do we have enough money for it?" Josiah had double checked. "Seems a little expensive."

"You would look so good in this Kaiden, and your size is the only one left," she had put the jacket close to him and she grinned. "And yeah, we do. It's a hundred euros."

For a jacket, that had seemed a little bit expensive. Josiah had pointed this out, but they weren't buying more than one thing.

"I'll pay you back. I know everything is your money."

"Promise?"

Kaiden had nodded after Josiah had questioned him, so they had gone to the till to pay for their jacket before it was too late.

Unintentionally, none of them had checked their phones as that wasn't really their biggest concern right now.

Their biggest concern at the moment was to get Kaiden something he liked and to head back before it was too late, as he had insisted on coming here, and wasn't taking no for an answer either.

However if they knew that they were going to be in a hostage situation, sort of, then they wouldn't have come here.

It had all started a little bit like this...
