36. The Truth, The Whole Truth & Nothing But The Truth (Part 1)

Akai Osei (picture above) as Jackson. Also, this book is almost finished! I'd say like 12 or so chapters left (can't promise it though) and then that's it.

"Get out."

The girls looked at him cluelessly, almost as if he was speaking in code.

Sotiria said sorry? even though she knew what he had just said, they all did.

"I said get out!" Jackson was beyond infuriated now, almost reminding the girls of lava about to erupt. "You guys must be Darius' daughters, aren't you?! Darius Campbell, who is supposedly my own father, put me in a coma; he almost killed me, and you expect me to forget that?! If I hate Darius, then I hate everyone he's associated with! Especially him and his family! So get out now before I make you guys wish you were in prison instead of me!!"

Everyone was looking at them now, with the stares increasing when Jackson shouted that they were the daughters of the man who attempted murder on him.

Jackson never wanted to see their faces again and he meant it.

Since Sotiria and Zipporah found it useless arguing with him, they stood up to leave, however Savannah wasn't going down without a fight.

She was going to get what she wanted whether it was easy or not.

"Jackson, Darius and my mum aren't exactly to blame here, you don't know the whole story. That's why we came here, to explain it to you--"

"What's there for you to explain?"

"More than you think, please?"

The security guards weren't having it, and neither was Jackson. Then again, Ashanti did say in the car that Jackson was always pretty cranky before 1PM, almost every single day. So maybe they could have tried after. It was just past 12:20.

That didn't go well or as planned, even if the girls weren't really that surprised.

Savannah told Reminisce everything through the phone outside when Reminisce called her. She wasn't giving up though. Jackson needed to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Things seemed hopeless now, so when Sotiria and Zipporah heard that Savannah had another idea to talk to Jackson, they were a bit bewildered.

"Are you serious? This is obviously a sign from God that we should leave and go home," Sotiria frowned.

"Or..." Savannah had trailed off, thinking optimistically. "It's a sign from God that things will work out, we just need to try a different way."

Or that they needed to leave? Why was that so hard for her to understand?

Zipporah wanted to know how they were going to do that exactly, with Savannah grinning mischievously.

That was for her to know, and for them to wish they did.

She knew her plan though. Jackson said he didn't want to see them again...

But he said nothing about Khalifa, Reminisce and Josiah.

And that was where her plan came in.

**********

"You want us to come with you to visit Jackson?" Khalifa repeated, folding his arms. "Didn't you low-key just say that Jackson said he never wants to see you again?"

"Yes, he did, but I'm also not leaving Silvercloud Holding Centre until Jackson knows the truth about his past." Savannah whispered. "Not just that, but Jackson knows nothing about you two." She looked at Josiah and Khalifa when she said that, leading to the two of them looking at each other afterwards.

The three of them were at Divinia Churrascaria, aka the Portuguese restaurant that had specialised in barbecue that Reminisce wanted to go to earlier.

Savannah was talking to Josiah and Khalifa privately about what had happened and what her plan of action was. Thankfully the two of them finished eating anyway by the time she had arrived, so she didn't have to wait long for them.

Sotiria and Zipporah were eating with Zipporah, and Savannah was going to eat later. This was urgent, she desperately wanted Jackson to know the truth.

"Oh, so you think because you, Sotiria and Zipporah can't go back, you can suddenly bring me and Khalifa into your problems?" Josiah summed up. "'Cause that's ---"

"Exactly what I'm trying to do," Savannah interrupted, just as Josiah was about to say kind of messed up. "Look, I know it's not ideal but he's my brother, you two. He's had a rough past, I mean we all have but he basically missed like half a decade of his life due to him being in a coma. I just want to help him out."

"And what if he doesn't need help?" Khalifa proposed. "Not just that, but what if you get into trouble for coming back twice, especially after Jackson said that he doesn't want to see you again? No offence but you're not really thinking straight, Savannah, and I think we all know that. That's just the truth."

Josiah could see why Savannah wanted them to come with her, kindly agreeing with Khalifa that she was being a bit selfish.

Not just that, Savannah informed them that Jackson wanted nothing to do with her, or anyone associated with Darius in general. Khalifa and Josiah were associated with Darius.

"Yeah, but you've never met him, because he's never taught you two before so you only know of him."

"Even then, there's no evidence that we aren't associated with Darius," Khalifa realised. "I mean, as long as you promise that you only want to go back to tell Jackson the truth, and not like to rescue him or anything. Then I guess I could go with you even though I'm not fully on board with this plan."

Smiling, Savannah nodded, and also promised that she was only going back to tell him the truth. If they weren't going to see each other again, Savannah at least wanted to end things with Jackson on good terms.

Today was the first and last day that she was going to meet him and she wanted to make it count.

She also wanted Reminisce to come with them because she wasn't fully on board with being the only girl going back, with all due respect to the guys. Not just that, she wanted to eat something first before they went.

After she had eaten, Reminisce, Josiah, Savannah and Khalifa had set off. Sotiria and Zipporah waited at reception in the prison hotel because there was nowhere else for them to stay, although they had to wear a disguise as they weren't allowed to come back to prison again after they had left.

On the same day, anyway.

"And are you sure this is a good idea?" Reminisce challenged, as the four of them hid behind a table, waiting for the right time to go and speak to Jackson again. "I'm not talking about this plan though. I'm talking about sneaking in."

"She's right, didn't you say that Conseula had a good rapport with you?" Josiah reminisced.

"I don't want her to get in trouble."

"And you want us to get in trouble instead?" Khalifa complained, with Savannah sighing and rolling her eyes. "Not selfish at all."

The four of them were hiding behind a table where no one could have seen them. But Savannah didn't mean it like that when she said that she didn't want Consuela to end up in trouble.

Visitors weren't allowed to visit more than once on the same day, and the following two weeks - this was to make things fair for other people.

If someone had seen Savannah again, she would have been in trouble, maybe even kicked out.

"You do realise we can just tell Consuela or Rio why we're here right? Rio is probably more desirable though 'cause you didn't tell him that you were visiting Jackson today." Josiah reminded Savannah.

"Rio overheard," Savannah deadpanned. "Besides, if you guys say that you're here to see Jackson, then Consuela will definitely suspect something - she might think I sent you or something. Yes, we have a good relationship with each other but even then, Consuela doesn't like breaking the rules. Even for her friends."

They were talking too much and not moving enough, that it was truly a blessing as to how nobody had heard them yet. It was Khalifa who whispered that the coast was clear, with the four of them walking out of their hiding place.

When a security guard suspected that they heard something, the four of them hid in the janitor's closet closest to them that was open.

At the moment, they were in an area that was off limits to visitors, as security guards and staff members only were allowed in there.

Not saying a word, the four of them watched through the peephole in the closet, until the semi-suspicious security guard eventually walked away. The place was off limits to them because it was were prisoner's rooms were. Rooms they vacated when someone wanted to visit them.

As quickly as they could, Savannah led the way, remembering Jackson's door number: N117. There was north (N), south (S), east (E) and west (W), with 300 rooms for each area. There were also 25 rooms per floor so there were 12.

Jackson's room was on the fifth.

There was a corridor halfway through for Josiah, Reminisce and Khalifa to hide in as Savannah knocked on Jackson's door.

"Who is it?"

She freaked out, thinking of what to say.

Whether she wanted to say something or not, she was stopped halfway by a light skinned furious security guard in sunglasses, wanting to know who she was.

He also caught Josiah, Khalifa and Reminisce just as they were about to hide. His name tag said Salvador on it, threatening to arrest them if they hadn't left right now.

Suspicious, Jackson opened the door, recognising Savannah's voice from earlier as she had tried to explain everything to Salvador.

He was ticked off, even more so than before.

"Do you not respect boundaries or something? I thought I told you to get lost! Any friend or family of Darius is immediately an enemy of mine!"

"Listen, I know you're upset at Darius and I don't blame you," Savannah mumbled, as Salvador was holding on to her, and other security guards were about to handcuff Josiah, Khalifa and Reminisce for trespassing. "You don't know the whole story though. That's why I came back - to explain it to you. I didn't mean to overstep your boundaries. I just want you to know the truth. Please."

Khalifa was yelling at her that things were worthless, with Reminisce doing the same. Josiah just stared, silently admiring Savannah's resilience.

Thinking, Jackson kept quiet, holding eye contact with Savannah and the other way around, then he rolled his eyes.

He took his anti depressant pills right in front of her, telling Salvador and the other guards holding them hostage to let them go.

People everywhere were glancing at them again, saying all sorts of negative things about them. They couldn't have been blamed - they weren't really supposed to be there.

"Fine. You have ten minutes."

"Five," Salvador argued. "And only 3 of them can visit you. That's the rule."

"I mean, the girl must be pretty desperate if she came back here with three different people just to tell me the truth about my past," Jackson didn't seem happy about that. "The truth better be worth it; I'm pressing charges against y'all for trespassing and invading my privacy when I specifically asked you never to come back again, Savannah."

Understandable, and fair.

Being released once and for all, the four of them headed inside Jackson's room, which was actually pretty large for one person.

Salvador in the meantime set a 10 minute timer, waiting outside for them.

Now it was time for them to tell him the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

That's the end of my double update!

That's also the end of all the pre written chapters so now I actually have to write the chapters instead of just copying, pasting and editing ✍️ 🥺 but yeah anyway I'm happy that you made it to the end!
