18. I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In

It's been a minute. I hope you guys have been well. Here is a Christmas update! Merry Christmas to those who celebrate
(I published this Christmas Eve in my time zone but y'all may read this at different times)

Happy reading!❤️

As soon as class was over for the time being, as they had another one later on today, Darius wanted to talk to Savannah alone about something. She had apparently been getting on his nerves since the start of the class so he had to correct her about it.

Darius had only gotten on Savannah's nerves once but Savannah had gotten on his quite a number of times.

Most of it was for minor things that she had gotten told off for in class, however there was one that needed an entire private discussion about it.

Reminisce had suggested waiting for her outside but Savannah didn't want her to do so because she wasn't sure how long this conversation was going to take.

Thankfully they had a one hour break after this class because if they had a class straight after this one then Savannah would have been late.

She didn't want to be late on her first day at all. That had said a lot about her character, even if it wasn't exactly her fault.

As soon as Reminisce had left, with Savannah and Darius kind of watching her, Darius had firmly told her to close the door.

After she had done that, Savannah had sighed to herself. She just wanted this conversation to be over with, whatever it was about in the first place.

"Why have you called me here?"

"What was with the way you spoke to me when I asked you to read that paragraph on how your summer holiday was?" He had demanded, folding his arms. "Don't deny it. You and I both know that you were rude to me."

Of course it was about that.

She should have known that but she didn't, with Savannah now slowly reminiscing about what had happened in class back then.

"You can't do that, sir, I didn't put my hand up."

"I can do what the hell I want to do." He had muttered through gritted teeth.

Savannah wasn't having it though. She was great at sticking up for herself - just not always at the right time sadly.

"Then what was the flipping point of you asking for volunteers?!"

Everyone was looking at her, bewildered. It would have been worse if she swore. Savannah never did.

"Who do you think you're talking to with that tone!" He had screamed back at her. "Read in front of the class now otherwise I will send you to the headteacher's office. You don't want to be in trouble on your first day, do you?!"

Savannah was about to shout back - that was until Reminisce had called her name and she shook her head.

It's not worth it, sis. Just do it.

Taking a deep breath, she had read it out loud for everyone to hear. She did it very angrily because she didn't volunteer. At the same time, she tried to hide her emotions, which had sort of backfired.

Savannah wasn't even nice to him. She was rude back then because he had volunteered for her to read out her paragraph even though she didn't want to do so.

And she was rude now.

"Sir, I said it back then and I'm saying it now. You can't be mad at me for something you clearly caused," she had frowned, rolling her eyes. "If you do something I don't like, I will shout back. My mum taught me to stick up for myself, regardless of who I'm talking to."

Lilibet probably meant that when Savannah was talking to someone her age or someone younger than her.

As for her elders and for teachers - she most likely meant that she should have stuck up for herself... in a nice way. Which was what Savannah most definitely hadn't done with Darius here.

"You're in my class and you're going to abide by my rules, because whether you like it or not, I'm older than you and that's never going to change," Darius had warned her.

Then he had mentioned that the next time she had ever raised her tone with him, he would have taken things to more extreme measures and he meant it.

He had seemed like a pretty high maintenance teacher. Which was really say something. Savannah and Darius had seemingly just met each other today.

As he was talking, Savannah really wanted to know what he had against her. There was probably a reason as to why he had decided to pick on her to read her paragraph in front of the class.

Not just that, but he had been eyeing the girl all day. What on Earth was up with that?

She had decided not to ask him that because chances were, he was having a bad day and he had just for some reason decided to take it out on her, even if she hadn't exactly deserved it.

Not just that, she didn't want to land into more trouble than she was already in now. Hopefully when she had gotten in trouble, her parent hadn't gotten informed, unless it was something insanely serious.

**********

If Savannah had thought that this was going to be the only time that Darius would have been on her case, then she was clearly wrong about that.

She had three teachers in total, and they were all fine so why Darius was the problem, she honestly didn't know.

She didn't have a problem with Darius every single lesson that they had as that was far off from the truth.

His true colours had showed the most though after they had gotten a test back.

Savannah and Reminisce had now been in their course for three weeks now. They had a test two weeks ago, which was just a short multiple choice quiz on creative writers and what they had done.

The test was serious as it would have counted towards their final grade at the end of the school year, but since it was their first one, Darius had therefore decided to make it easy.

He had handed the tests back, and as he had done so, he had decided to give the class a speech about their overall grades.

"Some of you did well for your first MCQ. Others, you didn't do so well, but don't worry! We're going to have many other quizzes, essays and exams for you to be able to catch up."

The quiz was out of 30, with Reminisce getting hers back before Savannah's.

The grade boundaries were as followed:

A Star - 80% +
A - 75 to 79%
B - 70 to 74 %

Then the gap between them was wider.

C - 60 to 69 %
D - 50 to 59%
E was 40 - 49% and a fail was anything below 40.

Darius was nice enough to keep the seating plan the same, however he was going to change it every month for everyone to get along with each other.

They had about a week left.

"How'd you do?"

"70 percent," she had told her, smiling. "A B. I'm proud of that, considering this is my first test."

Savannah had congratulated her, with Reminisce wanting to know how she had done when she had got her test back.

She got 57%.

She had actually gotten 80, but Darius had marked her way down deliberately because he didn't like her; which was something she was yet to find out.

"Don't worry, S. It's just a quiz, you'll do better next time. Plus, we're about to go through the answers so maybe you can see where you went wrong."

Savannah had nodded, though a part of her had thought that Darius had done all of this incorrect marking on purpose.

They had gone through the test, which was when Savannah had started to notice that he had put the answer wrong when she had gotten it right.

This had happened at least 10 or so times, with Darius saying that he did mark it pretty late because he had a long and busy week.

Therefore if anyone had a problem with their score, they should have come to him for him to fix whatever needed fixing.

There was a difference between marking things wrong because he was tired - however this was downright jeopardy.

"Darius," they were allowed to call their teachers by their first name. "I've noticed that you marked me down by 23%."

Darius had side eyed Savannah when she had told him that, as he had continued helping everyone else except from her.

When Savannah had noticed that he didn't care, she had stood up, making a scene again though she had every right to.

"So you're just going to ignore me?!"

She hadn't yelled that loudly in one of Darius' classes since the beginning. This was the second time she had done so.

When she had said that, everyone had looked at her, with Reminisce calling her name.

Savannah didn't listen to her, she had every right to be infuriated at the moment and she was.

"Excuse me?" Darius had commented when he had heard that, stopping what he was doing (examining someone else's paper) to look at her like everybody else.

"I got 80% in the test but you said I got 57!" Savannah hollered. "You've had it in for me since day one and I can't take it anymore! You are a biased, unfair teacher who clearly has favourites because you definitely don't treat everyone equally!"

"Shout at me one more time and I will kick you out of this class, permanently! You'll be expelled from the school!"

Everyone had looked at Savannah to see what she was going to do. Reminisce had told her to calm down, with Savannah smacking her hand.

"Reminisce, shut up! I get you're trying to help but are you saying I should let him treat me like this instead of defending myself?!" She had vented.

Savannah had then walked to the door, and it's everyone watching her.

"I don't care! Expel me! I would rather you do that then me having to be treated unfairly due to your own stupid insecurities!"

"Get out of this class now and don't come back!"

Reminisce wanted to follow her, with Darius telling her that if she had followed her then she would have been expelled with her too.

"Don't follow me, just leave me alone. I don't need you."

She did, she just didn't want her to land in trouble for something which didn't really concern her in the first place.

Then Savannah left. She swore loudly at him, then she slammed the door behind her.

Savannah had never been expelled before, let alone this early, although there was a first time for everything, she had guessed.

Plus the girl would have rather had expulsion than maltreatment any day.

MCQ = multiple choice quiz
Hope you enjoyed the chapter! 🖤🧡
