17. Don't Talk Back To Your Teacher

⬆️Common as Darius

And we are starting the real drama!
No there are no fights or anything, but it will get super intense. Happy reading!🧡

The weekend had soon gone, and before You're So High Maintenance, as that was their new group name now, had realised it?

It was time for their first lecture at the creative arts school.

None of them were taking the same classes as each other except from Reminisce and Savannah to be honest; they were each doing their own thing.

Khalifa was definitely doing music, there was a specific reason as to why he wanted to be a famous rapper when he was older.

Reminisce and Savannah were doing creative writing, Josiah was doing dance and Kaiden was doing art. Even though Josiah was a terrible rapper, he was amazing at dancing.

He had been doing street dancing for five years. Street dancing wasn't an option here for first year, just dancing. However in second and third year, they were allowed to choose what dance they wanted to do.

There were three years in total.

Because they wanted to be good students, Reminisce and Savannah wanted to arrive to class early. Tatiana was chilling with them until those in her class had gone inside.

Khalifa hadn't talked to them since the rapping incident, and the group was honestly better off that way.

Anytime one of them had seen him, they would have given him a death glare and vice versa.

"I can't believe it's our first lesson, girl!" Savannah screeched to Reminisce and Tatiana, although mainly Reminisce as they were doing the same course as each other. "Gosh, I really hope our teacher is nice."

"Nice won't budge it girl, he has to be firm but lenient at the same time, and he has to know what he's doing," Reminisce had added. "I don't want a teacher that will ruin my reputation."

They all had a teacher back at the school they had just come out of who didn't really know what they were doing.

Everyone failed that class, except from one insanely smart person, but everybody else had been struggling.

Luckily, when exam season had come, all their marks had increased by 10 points. The headteacher had felt bad for them for having a terrible teacher all these months.

They had tried to do something about it but they couldn't. They had tried talking to the teacher, giving the teacher warnings and they had even tried firing them although they couldn't as they would have had nowhere else to go.

"All the best in your course girls, imma let you know how my first day goes," Tatiana had informed them.

She wanted to say something more but couldn't as her class was actually going inside now. Nevertheless, they had hugged and they had headed inside.

Savannah and Reminisce's creative writing class wasn't too large, there were only about 15 people in total. Either this was everyone, or more people were coming later.

Not necessarily today, just in the future.

There was no seating plan for now and there shouldn't have been. They should at least have sat where they wanted to for now before a seating plan was finally set into place.

It wasn't just a creative writing class, it was also an art classroom as well so maybe Kaiden would have lessons in here too when the timetables were properly set.

The teacher was already there and he was light skinned. If anything he barely looked like one, wearing a dark blue tracksuit. Then again, they were told on the first day they could have worn whatever they wanted.

It was on the second day onwards that they had to dress formally.

Reminisce didn't like sitting at the front and neither did Savannah, so therefore they had sat in the middle instead, with everybody else sitting down where they wanted as well.

Class today was an hour and they had three of them with some breaks in between. The teacher had started talking by introducing his name and what his course was about.

"Hello, everyone. My name is Darius Campbell. Y'all are 18+ so you don't necessarily have to call me Mr Campbell. You can just call me Darius. We're gonna go round and introduce ourselves. Mention your name, birthday, and what you chose this course. Any questions?"

There was one from a very attractive Asian boy with freckles. He wanted to know why they had to mention their birthdays.

This was because Darius wanted to note everyone's birthdays somewhere.

And at that time, if the celebrant wanted to do so, the rest of the class would have contributed something for their birthday.

That was actually really sweet, no other teacher had really done that. Darius also wouldn't have been their only teacher. They were going to have five, for five different modules.

This module was creative writing practise.

So they had gone round the class. The attractive guy that had asked about birthdays had gone first. His name was Katsuro, his birthday was April 17th and Darius noted it down.

He was doing this course because his mother was currently a journalist and he had been inspired by her.

Some parents would have forced their children to do what they didn't what to do, or to do what the parents did. Katsuro's parents weren't like that. He actually wanted to be a journalist without anyone forcing him to do so.

There were more girls than than boys, Reminisce and Savannah included. There were only about ten girls and five boys, minus Darius.

Either way, Reminisce was the second to last person to go up and Savannah was the last even though they were in the middle of the class.

Yeah, they had gone around in a weird order, they should have been 7-8th at least. Darius had chosen the order of who should have gone next.

"Hey, everyone. My name is Reminisce." She had introduced.

They could have stood up if they wanted to do so. Most people didn't although Reminisce did.

"You beat your brother in that rap battle the other day!" One of the boys had announced. "That was tight! I was there! It was lit!"

Everyone had talked about that for a long time, with Reminisce forgetting about that. She was flattered that everyone had known her though.

That had kind of made everything easier.

Her birthday was July 8th and she was doing this course because she had been writing stories since she was little and she had always wanted to try a career in it.

Last but not least was Savannah. She didn't stand up because she couldn't have been bothered, plus she had just gotten pretty comfortable sitting down.

Her birthday was August 13th and she had taken this course because her mum had helped her choose a course based on her interests.

The classmates was pretty good though- everyone had seemed nice. For some reason, Darius couldn't have taken his eyes off of Savannah and she had noticed this.

He didn't seem happy with her which was strange as they had barely even known each other. He was staring her down, making her feel uncomfortable.

When he wasn't paying attention because he was doing something on his computer, most likely ticking people's attendance from the register- Savannah had decided to whisper something to Reminisce.

Reminisce; did you see that?

No, girl. See what?

Darius just gave me the dirtiest look. Like, worse than the looks Khalifa gives us when he sees us. And some of his other friends. Especially Stefani.

Maybe he wasn't aware he was doing it. Don't think too much about it. The possibilities are endless.

I'm sure he knew he was doing it. He looked at me for a long time.

Perhaps he knows you?

If that was true - how?

Savannah had never met him before.

Highly doubt it.

You never know. Maybe you met when you were younger but you don't remember as it was such a long time ago.

*continued* Or maybe he's just had a bad day and he's projecting it on you through his looks for some reason. Like I said, the possibilities are endless so don't think too much about it. You'll be fine.

After the little introduction, Darius wanted people to write a five sentence summary of how their summer vacation was. It had to be as descriptive as possible, and they had to talk about the most interesting thing too.

They could have fibbed a little bit if it wasn't interesting - just no over exaggerating. Darius could have detected that from miles away.

They had ten minutes to do this, and if they wanted to, they could have talked to those on their table for help.

Then he would have asked for two volunteers to read what they had written in front of the class and they would have done it.

If there weren't any volunteers, he would have picked two people at random. He was definitely going to choose Savannah then, if he had been looking at her like that.

Darius didn't look at Savannah when writing, although what Reminisce had told her had really sunk in.

Did Darius know her?

If so.... How comes she didn't know him?

Ten minutes had soon gone, with Darius wanting someone to read in front of the class.

Two people had shot their hands straight away, with Savannah's hand not being a part of it at all.

Darius didn't care, he had still chosen her anyway.

"You can't do that, sir, I didn't put my hand up."

"I can do what the hell I want to do." He had muttered through gritted teeth.

Savannah wasn't having it though. She was great at sticking up for herself - just not always at the right time sadly.

"Then what was the flipping point of you asking for volunteers?!"

Everyone was looking at her, bewildered. It would have been worse if she swore. Savannah never did.

"Who do you think you're talking to with that tone!" He had screamed back at her. "Read in front of the class now otherwise I will send you to the headteacher's office. You don't want to be in trouble on your first day, do you?!"

Savannah was about to shout back - that was until Reminisce had called her name and she shook her head.

It's not worth it, sis. Just do it.

Taking a deep breath, she had read it out. She did it very angrily because she didn't volunteer. At the same time, she tried to hide her emotions, which had sort of backfired.

Savannah's holiday was all in all decent. Her grandmother had died, which was tragic however she did go on holiday with her mum and her cousin Topaz to Abu Dhabi, which was amazing.

Darius hadn't been on her case for the rest of the day, however he did want to see her after class for something he had clearly caused.

She didn't want to go, but Reminisce had told her to do so. They would have discussed this later.
