15. One Less Problem Without You
Sorry for the slow update, so here's one now to make up for it! I wanted to do so yesterday but I honestly got distracted 😣
Back it up
"No."
Clap it up
"What?"
Switch it up
"Hell no."
Change it up
"Seriously, bro?" Kaiden complained. "Come on Josiah, it's like you're not even trying to look good for this party."
Do that thing for me
Do that thing for me
As Khalifa had just made up with Stefani, Josiah, Reminisce, Tatiana, Kaiden and Savannah in the meantime were in Josiah's room.
The fancy dress party that Tatiana's sister and her friend was holding had started in about an hour or so, with everybody being ready except from Josiah.
The song Do That Thing by B2K and Lil Kim had blasted through the stereos and it had been about thirty or so minutes since Josiah had tried to get ready.
Even though he had a lot of nice things in his wardrobe and they all knew that, he was deliberately choosing bad clothes.
"Josiah, the party starts really soon, and if you're not ready by then then I'm sorry but we'll have to go without you. We don't want to do that." Savannah lamented. "Is something up with you? You're not normally this indecisive."
Something was up with him and it was Khalifa. He just couldn't have gotten over him not speaking to them again.
And the thing was he wasn't even overreacting, he had every single right to be mad at them. They had interfered not once but twice in him and Stefani's relationship.
He told them not to do so.
Josiah was the main reason as to why Khalifa wasn't speaking to any of them, and he couldn't have helped but to beat himself up because of it, even though he was just trying to help.
"This is all my fault. If I hadn't interfered again then none of this would have happened."
Josiah wasn't saying that everybody had to like him, he had his fair share of haters after all, although if the roles were reversed and Khalifa had interfered in his relationship twice then he would have been pretty angry too.
"Josiah," Tatiana had told him, standing up and placing a hand on him shoulder. "Why are you so hard on yourself, bro? We're about to go to a fancy dress party. You don't want to be looking dejected there, do you?"
He shook his head.
"And forget what people think," Reminisce had continued. "Is it not better without Khalifa? He's stubborn, rude, ignorant - I'd say that we're better off without him. One less problem without him. What about y'all?"
They had all cheered.
This didn't mean that they didn't feel guilty. They did. They just couldn't have dwelled on it, especially right before a huge and maybe once in a lifetime party.
He had smiled a little bit when they had said that, with Tatiana's phone pinging during that.
"Ooh, y'all, we gotta go help my sister out with the party. She needs approximately three volunteers."
Tatiana definitely had to go, Josiah didn't feel like going.
Savannah didn't mind going, and after she had said that, Kaiden had said that he wanted to go as well. He was developing a crush on her and no one was even aware of it.
As the three of them had gone, it had just left Reminisce and Josiah.
That was what Reminisce was wearing, with Josiah eventually settling on a tuxedo. Now he just needed to find the right shoes.
"Reminisce, can I ask you something? I'm glad you stayed."
"As long as it's within reasonable boundaries." She had told him, folding her arms as Josiah had to crawl to the bottom of his wardrobe to get something.
When Josiah had heard that, he had stopped what he was doing to stare at her, laughing a little bit.
"Come on. When have I ever asked you a question that wasn't within reasonable boundaries?"
"When your report card was terrible last year and so you wanted me to come with you to the head teacher's office to change your bad grades to good ones before it had gotten sent out to parents and guardians," she had reminded him. "But sure. Go ahead."
It was about Khalifa.
As in, if she had ever fallen out with him, how long had it taken for them to make up?
It had all depended on why they had fallen out to be honest, and they had done so quite a lot. Khalifa and Reminisce hadn't gotten along more often than not.
"Okay when you did something dreadful, for example you told me you accused him for doing something he didn't do, like almost setting the house on fire when your parents were away. When it was you."
They hadn't spoke to each other for a week because of that. However, them getting him and Stefani against each other was more than a week of not speaking to each other.
"Don't tell me you're planning revenge or something."
"I'm not. Definitely not. I've learnt my lesson, I swear. I was just curious."
Reminisce couldn't have predicted, she wasn't Khalifa and she didn't want to be Khalifa. She didn't want an ex criminal boyfriend, that was for sure.
"Don't think too much about it, okay?" She had given him a friendly hug. Then she had kissed him on the cheek.
Sometimes she had done that, not often though. Josiah knew it was platonic so he therefore didn't say anything about it.
But he was grateful.
"We're about to go to the biggest fancy dress party of the century."
It was insanely big all right - although not in the way they wanted it to be. It was probably a lot worse than that.
**********
I wanna take you away
Let's escape into the music, DJ, let it play
I just can't refuse it
Like the way you do this
Keep on rockin' to it
Please don't stop the, please don't stop the music
Ten minutes later and Reminisce and Josiah had entered the jam packed fancy dress party.
Tatiana, Kaiden and Savannah had waited for them outside, and they had really decorated the place extremely well.
It was actually an old school themed party because when Tatiana's sister and her friend had done a poll on what music people wanted, majority of people had said old school so here they were.
The hall they were in now was not just used for parties, it could have also been used for weddings as well.
There were gold, white and black balloons everywhere too. Three of them had burst - some people here were reckless.
Not drunk though, there was no alcohol at this party. They weren't allowed. They would have gotten into massive trouble for that - even if the main hosts of the party were leaving since they had already graduated.
Reminisce and Josiah were ultimately surprised when they had walked in. There were a lot of people in there dressed fancily like they were supposed to.
Not everyone did though as not everybody had liked the idea of dressing up, however they couldn't have resisted not showing up.
"This place is..."
"Gorgeous?" Tatiana's sister Skylar and her friend Tiffany had finished off for Reminisce. When they had seen the two of them, they had done air kisses at Reminisce and they had hugged Josiah.
Skylar was wearing an elegant cyan prom dress, with heavy make up but not too heavy, and she had white gloves on. Her hair was down and nobody could have recognised her.
Her best friend Tiffany who she had co hosted the party with was actually wearing matching clothes with her, with her dress being light purple instead of light blue.
"I'm so glad you two could make it!" Tiffany had remarked - she had to shout over how loud this music was, Jesus. "I hope y'all have a good time! It's an international party so there's food almost every country here - make yourselves feel at home!"
She would have spoken longer to them but someone was calling her and Tiffany so therefore they had to go.
After they had gone, the five of them had decided on whether they should have split up or whether they should have stayed together instead.
"Are you kidding? We should deffo split up!" Savannah commented.
Tatiana had already gone before they had the chance to decide - since this was her sister's party, she was therefore relatively popular here as well.
Savannah didn't mind going with Kaiden again as Reminisce had gone with Josiah. They had hugged as they had split up, and now was when trouble came.
She had seen something in the far corner which had really caught her eye. It was a white chocolate fountain. She had said milk chocolate, although white chocolate was pretty rare.
The queue for it was empty, with Reminisce wanting to go there before it had gotten longer than what it was now.
"You told me you were trying to cut back from chocolate."
"...Which can start tomorrow!" She had shouted. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity."
Before Josiah had the chance to say something, Reminisce had already taken him to the white chocolate fountain, with there being strawberries on the side.
She didn't take too much chocolate, taking red punch (strawberry juice) from the table once she was done with what she was doing.
As they had headed back, Reminisce and Josiah had talked to each other about something, although she wasn't really looking at where she was going.
Accidentally bumping into someone along the way, spilling her punch on them.
Which just happened to be Stefani.
When she had done so, she had apologised, with Stefani having a go at her and everyone staring.
The audience had then realised that Josiah and Reminisce were two of the people that Khalifa had shouted at earlier today for wrongfully talking badly about Stefani to him and vice versa.
"Watch where you're going, you creep!"
"It was an accident!"
"Oh really?" Stefani had snapped at her, with Reminisce shooting daggers at her. Someone had gotten tissue for her which she had gradually accepted, but she wasn't happy.
"Highly doubt it was. You just want to make me look bad because you can't stand me being with your brother."
As much as Reminisce didn't blame her for thinking that, this was genuinely an accident. She had even tried bringing Josiah into this.
And she did - that was until Khalifa had come in to the situation, wanting to know what was going on. Kaiden, Savannah and Tatiana were on the way there too, however it was hard to get there due to the immense crowd of people.
"Hey, you okay? What's going..."
Khalifa didn't even say on.
He had seen Reminisce and Josiah.
And he had given them the dirtiest looks of all time.
