14. Down For You & Loyal

It's a late night update! Enjoy!

About forty five or so minutes after Khalifa had officially ended friendship with Josiah, Kaiden, Reminisce and Savannah, he was inside some bowling alley with Stefani's cousin DaSanté.

He wanted to apologise to him for wrongly jumping to the conclusion that him and her were dating. In the meantime, DaSanté had apologised to him for ending their relationship.

He didn't mean to and Khalifa knew that, just not back when he was arguing with Stefani about everything.

Khalifa wanted to give Stefani space but at the same time he wanted to apologise to her as well, whether she wanted to see him or not.

DaSanté was even the one that had told him where was. Stefani didn't know he was there right now, with Khalifa freaking out as he had spied on her from behind a wall.

"I'm scared, D."

"There's nothing for you to be scared about." DaSanté had deadpanned, as Khalifa in the meantime was panicking. "Just talk to her. I'm sure things can't be that bad."

To say that Stefani was mad at him was an understatement. Khalifa was actually mad at her too- for a while.

Then he had stopped. The negative feelings had dissipated and he had started to miss her.

Whether or not Stefani had felt the same way was her own decision. The worst thing now was for her to have found someone else completely.

She was pretty popular so Khalifa had known that quite a few boys were interested in her.

This didn't bother him though because he knew she had loved him and she had even rejected them in front of him.

"What do you mean things can't be that bad? She's not even my girlfriend anymore. She's my ex girlfriend."

"Do you really need a girlfriend though? Especially right now? You know they kick you out of the school if you don't consistently get good grades."

"I mean, I'm not friends with those four anymore, am I? Not after what they had done to me. So Stefani is more or less the only person I have now, after you. I guess."

He had checked on what she was doing, some black kid that was about an inch taller than her was teaching her how to bowl properly and she was laughing.

He had dreadlocks, and Khalifa didn't know what he had looked like because he could have only seen the back of his head. He had red and white Adidas tracksuit on with black Jordan's.

Caleb, stop!!

That's how you bowl though.

It tickles.

Stefani always had a thing for dark skinned guys, with Khalifa realising this just now.

She had liked all guys as long as they were nice to her - but for some reason dark skinned guys were her type.

"When do you think I should go, DaSanté?"

"Left to me, I don't think you've given her enough space. Forty five minutes is not enough. But it's your life, not mine. Do what you want with it."

Khalifa had waited a while until Caleb disappeared, giving up when he had figured out that that wasn't going to happen.

He had signalled to DaSanté when he was going to leave, which was when Stefani and Caleb were talking to each other on the bench.

Just because someone was here right now didn't necessarily mean that they were bowling. Some people had just liked to watch - which was free. That was what Khalifa wanted to do.

The two of them were sharing a smoothie together as they had just talked about the game they had finished. They were starting another one soon, otherwise they would have left.

They didn't.

I can't believe you got 4 strikes in a row!

I couldn't believe it either to be honest, Caleb had replied to her. I've been pretty terrible at bowling, flunking since. This was just a lucky game.

Plus you're not the best so it made me look good, he had teased, with Stefani chuckling.

DaSanté could have sensed Khalifa's jealousy from miles away, talking to him about it before he had actually talked to her.

"It's okay to be jealous, Khalifa."

"I'm not jealous."

"Doesn't seem that way," he had answered, placing his hand on his shoulder, as Khalifa had given him the side eye.

Forget this. He was going in.

Just as DaSanté was about to get comfortable resting on his shoulder, that was when Khalifa had gone over to them, who were laughing about something.

Then in his quietest voice ever, he had muttered if he could have talked to Stefani alone.

When Stefani and Caleb had seen him, their moods had gone downhill pretty fast. Khalifa didn't care though, he wanted this to be over and done with.

"Ain't you her ex?"

"I wasn't talking to you."

"What are you doing here?" She had sounded agitated and honestly speaking, Khalifa didn't blame her.

If the roles were reversed, he was still mad at her and she wanted forgiveness for something then he would have probably reacted the same way.

Khalifa had smartly told her that the bowling alley was open to everyone so he couldn't really have avoided this place even if he wanted to.

Plus it wasn't like he was spying on her - even though he was. It was just a "coincidence" that they had seen each other here.

"Please. It would only take a minute."

"You're the last person she wants to talk to right now."

"Was I talking to you?!" Khalifa had accidentally on purpose shouted at Caleb. "You don't need to be her mouthpiece for crying out loud. She can talk for herself, she's 19."

Caleb had asked her if she was going to tolerate such rudeness, with Stefani frowning at Khalifa for a while - Khalifa didn't take his eyes off of her.

He was dead serious about this.

Some people had looked at him intently when he had shouted at Caleb, with Khalifa not caring. He needed to get back together with her.

"Caleb, give us five minutes."

"You're seriously going to talk to the person that would rather believe his friends than you? His friends straight up lied against you and you still want to talk to him. Wow."

They weren't his friends anymore, that was for sure.

Khalifa had given him a dirty look as he had stood up and left, with Caleb doing the same thing even though he was really trying to ignore him.

He had greeted DaSanté as he had left though, saying Yo DaSanté, what's up? Happy birthday, bro! Then he had gone.

When Caleb and DaSanté had gone, Khalifa had sat down next to her, wanting to know if they could have talked somewhere more private.

Stefani was rudely texting someone as he was talking, although when she had heard that he wanted them to move, she wasn't very happy at all.

"Okay- first you gatecrash my game, and now you're asking me to move?! That's pretty disrespectful don't you think? Caleb just gave our time up for you!"

"I understand that. And I know you're upset but please- I don't want to shout at you again. Just hear me out."

Stefani had glanced at him and he had done the same thing back, then she had rolled her eyes, before murmuring fine under her breath.

Khalifa had tried to hide his happiness as they had gone, with Caleb and DaSanté coming back from the vending machine they had gone to.

Stefani wanted them to watch over their things until they had come back, with Caleb nodding egoist Khalifa and Stefani had gone to talk privately instead.

There was an area outside some fire exit that they had gone to to talk, with Stefani folding her arms when they had gone there.

"What do you want?"

"Is it too late now to say sorry?"

That was all he had said, with Stefani seeming even more irritated than before.

She had no reason to be surprised though.

She knew straight up that this was going to be an apology from the get go.

"Oh so you want to apologise? For what?"

"Don't be like that. You know what I want to apologise for. I'm sorry I believed Josiah and Kaiden over you. To be fair, before today, you've never told me about DaSanté. So I had every right to believe that he was your boyfriend."

She had had a go at him, telling him that she really did tell him about DaSanté - he just didn't pay attention to her.

She had a lot of proof about that and she had shown it to him - the text messages prior to his birthday asking Khalifa what he had thought DaSanté would have wanted. And then some.

Khalifa had shrunk back when he had seen that, being more embarrassed than before.

"I don't want to be with someone whose friends convince them to break up with me. I understand that I listened to Savannah and Reminisce too- but I did actually tell you about DaSanté. So for you wanting me back - it's a big no. Now leave."

Khalifa stared at her.

He didn't say anything. He didn't leave.

So because he didn't leave, Stefani had left instead. Khalifa wasn't giving up until he had gotten her back - and he knew exactly what to say.

"So is that it?!" He hollered at her when she was about to go back inside to see Caleb and DaSanté.

She had stopped walking for a while, turning.

"What do you mean, is that it?"

"Excuse me but who's always been there for you since the start? A lot of people told me to break up with you when they found out you were an ex criminal - but did I break up with you voluntarily? No, I didn't. And I think we both know the only reason I did was because I got frustrated. Trust me, you would have done the exact same thing as me.

A lot of people have given up on you or judged you wrongly because of your stupid criminal record, but I have stayed with you even if I didn't want to. Do you know how hard it was for me to choose you in front of everybody else?

You know I've always been down for you and loyal. And if you don't want someone like that then sure. It's your flipping loss. I don't care. I seriously don't care. But I know everything I've done for you. And now that I think about it, why should I waste my time apologising? Maybe you're the mistake and not me. Move out my way."

As Khalifa was about to head inside, Stefani had really thought about what he had just said. And he wasn't lying about anything.

He had never left her side.

She was the one that had treated her badly.

She was the one that had thought that she could have done better but she couldn't.

One day, she had dated someone else because she was bored with Khalifa. She had only liked the other person because he was kind to her.

Or he pretended to be anyway. He had only liked her because of her looks, which Stefani wasn't aware of at that time. The love wasn't there though- and she had missed Khalifa.

Even though Khalifa was initially annoyed at her for leaving him, he did eventually take her back and he didn't hold anything against her. She had to work for his love though, and she did.

Sighing, she had said sorry, with Khalifa teasing her because of that.

"What was what?"

"You know what I meant," she had heaved. "Don't be like that. I'm sorry. You're right. You can come back into my life. Just don't believe any rumours people say about me. And I'll do the same for you. Not even from your friends."

He didn't need to - like he had said, they weren't his friends anymore.

No, Khalifa and Josiah and co were all enemies now. They weren't friends at all.

They had hugged then they had gotten ready for Tatiana's sister and friend's party - which was what Josiah and his friends had decided to go to after a very long time.
