12. No Hate, But You Need To Seperate
I know I've been slacking for real but I've been at school, I started university this month. Hope y'all have been good though.
The coach journey to Santorini State of the Arts took some time but they had all gotten there eventually.
Josiah was the first person to get off the bus, followed by Savannah then Reminisce and lastly Kaiden.
It was in the same place as they were in before so therefore they weren't really very surprised.
What was pretty surprising though was the fact that Khalifa had walked past them as if he hadn't known them, being fully immersed in a conversation with Stefani.
"Oh crud!" Josiah had muttered to the three of them when he had seen Khalifa and Stefani walk past each other, with Khalifa's arm around her.
"What?"
"I totally forgot to split them up," he had whispered to them, with Reminisce just face palming herself. "I mean, think about it. We told Khalifa to come to us if he is in trouble with Stefani and I feel like he's been in trouble a lot of times - he just hasn't told any of us yet."
No way, he had promised to tell them when he was in danger with that girl - with Kaiden pointing this out.
He had said so in jail.
It had genuinely seemed as though they weren't taking no for an answer though, with Khalifa sighing, wondering how he was going to get his way and theirs at the same time.
Josiah had an idea.
Since he really wanted to stay with her, he could have done so, although as soon as he had sensed danger, he had come running back ASAP.
"You understand?"
He nodded.
"I guess that's fair."
"But then how will we know you're in danger without telling us?" Kaiden wanted to know, with Khalifa promising that he would have told them when he was and he meant it.
"But just because he promised it doesn't mean that he's not going to break the promise," Reminisce had reminded them. "To be fair, he's not pretty good at keeping them. Besides, Josiah you know the last time you interfered with Khalifa's love life, we all almost got arrested. Do you really want that to happen again?"
He didn't, but they had to do something.
Plus Josiah had felt as though he hadn't approached him and the entire situation in the right way.
This was going to be the last time that they had interfered with it though and Josiah had meant it. After today, he would have left him.
He had an idea and they were going to split up. Him and Kaiden were going to talk to Khalifa whilst the girls would have talked to Stefani instead.
If they had swapped roles then they may have suspected something.
"And you're saying that they're not going to suspect anything when they see you?" Savannah frowned, folding her arms.
"Guys I mean it, this will be the last time, I promise."
"What if things go wrong?"
What if things went right?
However if things did go wrong then Josiah had said that they had every right to hate him and he was serious.
Nah, they weren't going to hate him. So reluctantly, they had split up with each other and they had tried to interfere for the last time.
Kaiden and Josiah were going to talk to Khalifa first, finding him at the canteen listening to some music.
Had they known that he was listening to music then they probably wouldn't have distracted him- with Josiah behind up, followed by Kaiden.
You talk to him.
No, you, Kaiden had argued. This was your idea.
Yes, but you need to become better at talking to people.
Josiah didn't know that Tatiana was really the one to bring Savannah back and Kaiden didn't want him to know either.
Alright fine. We'll talk to him at the same time. How about that?
If they had agreed to that at the beginning then there wouldn't have been any trouble. So almost simultaneously, they had tapped his shoulder but Khalifa hadn't heard them due to his music.
Yeah, okay
You need to get done, done, done, done at work, come over
We just need to slow the motion
Don't give that away to no one
When they had realised this, they had tapped him again, with Khalifa being confused as he had removed his earphones.
Josiah and Kaiden had come up to either side of him, almost freaking Khalifa out.
"What the hell do y'all want?"
"For someone that's our friend, you didn't exactly act like we existed when we were all coming out of the coach," Kaiden had began.
Khalifa had stared at him blankly, then he had remembered that he had been with Stefani the whole time.
They had already been given their rooms after collecting their keys, this whole conversation was about two hours after their plan as they still needed to unpack and everything.
"Oh right. Sorry."
He didn't seem like he was sorry, which had Josiah wondering if he was really his friend at all.
He had been acting distant lately, but at the same time it wasn't like he had been with Stefani 24/7 because he hadn't.
"Anyway, Kaiden and I came to talk to you about something."
"If it's about Stefani, I don't want to hear it-"
"It is about Stefani," Kaiden had interrupted. "And I think there's something you need to know."
Not giving Khalifa a chance to reply, Kaiden had then showed him his phone where there was a light skinned guy on her page.
It was posted just now actually and from what Khalifa could see, it was moreover his birthday and she had sort of given him a shoutout.
Josiah had told him to read the caption and he had read it, not saying anything. He had lowered the phone down after everything.
"So what do you think?"
"If you guys are trying to get me to break up with Stefani again, it's not happening. Besides, that picture doesn't prove anything. She's probably just saying all of that because it's his birthday."
That was what made Josiah and Kaiden start to question Khalifa's thinking.
First of all, did she make a collage like that for his birthday?
If she did, did she write an entire paragraph about him?
Forget that, did she even remember his birthday? Josiah knew that at one point she did forget, and they had an argument about this for a while.
When Khalifa had realised the answers to all of these questions, he had seemed more resentful than before, even if he didn't show it.
"If anything, I'd say she likes this boy more than you."
"He could be a family member, Kaiden, let's not jump to conclusions."
Josiah didn't reply, they were actually right in front of them, sort of.
None of them were aware that DaSanté had actually gone to their school.
Oh my gosh, you got Rihanna to autograph a picture of me?!
She had done so at the back, writing happy birthday to him at the back too.
Yes, baby! I know how much you love her. So when I went to a concert with my sister and my brother last week, I knew I had to get her autograph for your birthday!
DaSanté had hugged her really tightly, spinning her round and round. He was forever grateful for this.
"If he was a family member then would he have hugged her like that?"
Khalifa didn't reply.
"Maybe they're dating, dude." Josiah had let him know, patting his back. "But don't take my word for it."
"And don't think we did this to upset you," Kaiden had added on. "We just wanted to give you a wake up call. We were just concerned. We genuinely didn't know he was at this school. I actually know DaSanté personally. I just didn't know he knew Stefani."
Khalifa had thanked them silently, with Josiah candidly asking him if he was okay.
He was fine, he had guessed. He just needed to know who DaSanté was.
He had still thought that he was a family member- then again, was he? Stefani had never actually mentioned his name before.
"Maybe there was nothing interesting about him; like Josiah said though. They might not be dating. Don't take his word for it."
Khalifa had watched them leave, he was definitely having a word with Stefani about this whole thing after she was done talking to DaSanté or maybe when he was less tired.
For now though, it was now the girl's turn to try and talk to Stefani, which was done after she had left the canteen alone.
**********
"So let me get this straight," Stefani had said, turning her back to the girls when they had more or less bombarded her with a lot of Khalifa's flaws.
Not too much for her to suspect anything, but enough for her to consider breaking up with him.
And they all knew that they had said that they would have given Khalifa and Stefani one more chance but now they weren't so sure they had made the right decision.
"Khalifa thinks he's too good for me all of a sudden just because I'm an ex criminal and he isn't? Is that what you two are trying to say to me right now? Or am I wrong?"
The things Savannah and Reminisce had said to her about Khalifa had included but wasn't limited to:
Khalifa was a terrible listener. Once he had an extremely had day and he told Reminisce about it. But when Reminisce wanted to tell him about hers, he didn't want to hear it.
He didn't always take no for an answer. He was pretty stubborn and selfish.
He wasn't the most serious with his studies. Reminisce would have always had to force him to do it or if not then their Grandma.
And then some.
When Stefani had asked the girls that, they had looked at one another, then back at her again, then they had nodded simultaneously.
"Yeah, he thinks he's out of your league," Savannah had lied. "Normally it should be the other way around but nah. Khalifa's pretty confident he's better than you."
Reminisce could tell that Stefani was triggered by this, which was what she wanted to happen.
She had then wanted to know what she was going to do, and she had said that she was going to have a serious word with him.
When she had seen him, she had yelled his name loudly enough to wake up the dead, with the girls in the meantime running away before Khalifa had the chance to see them.
Then they had high fived each other, before going back to meet the boys just outside of the canteen where the benches were.
Don't worry the Khalifa and Stefani situation will end soon. Then I'm going to get to the real interesting bit of the story. This is honestly just the beginning.
