Chat Noir's POV

I ran after Ladybug as soon as she pursued TimeBreaker. Jumping from lamp post to lamp post, I got a good position over my Bugaboo.

"Fight Me!" She said

Woah, she must really be determined.

As soon as she headed towards her, I jumped down, extending my staff, knocking her down. She got up laughing.

"Hahahahaaa! You're to late Scardy Cat, I already got enough power to prevent my humiliation! Chloe will pay!"

I swung my stick at her knees as I heard a cracking sound, she doubled over in pain. Her skates broke apart as Ladybug trapped the Akuma's.

"No more evil doing for you little Akuma! Time to De-evilise!"

The Akuma was purified as she caught it in her yoyo, opening it up.

"Gotcha! Bye bye little butterfly." She said

Ladybug's POV

Nothing.

Nothing happened after the butterfly was released! Even after my catchphrase!

"This is different." I said

I turned back to Alix, who was groaning, still dizzy.

"Ugh, my head. W-where-"

I knelt to her level.

"You're alright Alix, you're safe now."

"H-How do you know my name?"

"U-Uh....(Reader) told me, he talks about you a lot. Don't worry, we'll get him back." I said running off in what I hoped was the right direction

We regrouped away from the crowd.

"What was all that about?"

"Maybe just purifying one akuma isn't enough? They must be linked together."

"You're right Chat, I think this might be our biggest challenge yet."

"I gotta get (Reader) back, Adrien made me promise him."

"I-Is he safe?"

"Y-Yeah, he ended up getting away before TimeBreaker struck. Let's get back to finding (Reader) before-"

"Paris, I am here to rid the world of love once more!" Dark Cupid yelled

"Oh, you gotta be kidding me! 4 villains!? He's got guts, I'll give him that!"

Me and Chat glanced at each other, nodding before we ran towards the Eiffel Tower.

"I got a plan, draw his fire, and dodge. Dodge cause your life, and (Reader's) depends on it!"

"You got it Sweet Wings." He winked

"Sweet Wings??"

"Marinette, where do you think he is?" Tikki said

"I saw them go past the Eiffel Tower, not much else." I said dodging a few of Dark Cupid's arrows before he focused on Chat

"A skyscraper maybe?" Tikki said

"You might be right Tikki, here's hoping he's alright." I said as I snuck up behind him as I pinned Cupid to the ground with Chat grabbing the brooch

"Care to do the honors?"

"You do it this time."

He was about to throw it to the pavement when Dark Cupid headbutted me, kicked Chat Noir to a lamp post, and grabbed the brooch flying off to where I assumed (Reader) was being kept.

Lady Wifi's video signal began broadcasting, and I saw him tied to a chair.

"(Reader!)"

"(Reader!)" I called out again

Reader's POV

"(Reader,)" A voice said

"(Reader!)" The same voice called out

My eyes blinked slowly, adjusting to my new surroundings. I felt like I was laying on the edge of something. The sweet, gentle wind caressed my brown hair, feeling as if another gust could send me falling from this unknown structure I was laying on.

Suddenly I'm blindfolded by unseen hands, as I'm tilted back. The blindfold feels lose, I can feel it moving against my head.

I'm pulled back only to roll on the ground.

"She will NEVER love you. Young men like you make me sick!" A woman spoke

Someone grabbed me by the shoulders and dragged me to what I could feel was a chair.

"PUT YOUR ASS IN THE GOD DAMN CHAIR!" The woman said shoving me on it tying my hands and legs

"It's a shame you're disconnected from what you have left of bars."

Slow echoing steps are to my right.

"Tell me, what causes your heart to beat for this...Alix?" Another voice asked

"You know your heart will be broken by her! Shattered! Love is a PATHETIC EMOTION AND SHALL BE ERADICATED FROM THIS EARTH!" The same voice said pulling back on a bow

"Cupid no! Not yet you idiot! We gotta keep the bait alive, not kill him."

"You mean his heart."

"Whatever! Just do as I say, I have no doubt they'll be here soon." The woman replied

"Leave us." She concluded

The second person walked away as their footsteps disappeared along with a door closing.

"Now, since I've loosened you up out there; let me look at you." She said sliding the blindfold off my head

A woman with a striking resemblance to Alya was in-front of me. Sure, she had the same body shape, hair and eye color. A kind soul was missing.

"So, tell me.....(Reader,) what're your reasons for being here?"

"You kidnapped me and drugged me that's what!"

"I wouldn't shout if I were you. But good luck anyone hearing, these walls are soundproof."

"Do your worst you BITCH!"

"Ah ah ahhhh! Ya used a bad word, Wifi Slash!"

The woman took out a phone and made slash marks on it, the marks made their ways onto my inner and outer arms.

"GAAAAHHHHH! FUCK!"

Above my head towards the ceiling was a pink symbol pointed at me. She turned to face it.

"People of Paris, prepare to have a once in a lifetime scoop! Superheroes like to think they have no weaknesses, and I may have just found the WEAKEST link of all time! For this world's most pathetic chain, what you just saw was only a TIDBIT of what I'm able to do in harming this man!"

"Syringe!"

A purple and pink syringe with purple and black mist inside the tube appeared in her right hand from thin air.

The needle shot agonizing pain in the left side of my neck, dangerously close to my throat.

"That was just to prove my point. Ladybug, you have ONE HOUR to reveal your secret or your crush won't just be slush! His words are always misread, WHICH MEANS HE'LL BE DEAD!"

The symbol above us remained still as she prepared another slash mark.

It landed on the right side of my neck. Then the symbol disappeared.

The tearing sensation finally hit me as blood had been pouring from my arms and neck.

I yelled out in pain as she walked away.

"AHHHHH! YOU'LL DIE FOR THIS YOU HEAR ME!? YOU'LL DIEEEEEE!"

"Yell all you want, Mother Mary herself won't hear you."

A door opened as light poured in blinding me.

Ladybug's POV

I started shaking seeing the torture he's going through.

My nose started bleeding, I wiped the blood with my sleeve. My suit was now stained slightly.

"D-Did you see that syringe they stuck him with?"

"Yeah, he's bleeding a lot it looked like."

"You have any idea where they might be holding him?"

"Let's get the top of the Eiffel Tower out of the way first. Hang on Sweet Wings." He said extending his staff

"Again, with the weird nicknames." I said rolling my eyes

Our search turned up nothing.

In the distance, I saw what looked like.....

"No! They can't be serious!" I said

"What is it M'Lady?"

"Be serious Chat! Look!" I said pointing ahead

"The Notre Dame Cathedral." He said

"They must be holding him in the attic."

"I can't help but go back to what Wifi said 'His words are always misread, which means he'll be dead.'"

"Who knows? Maybe she stalked him before striking? Writes poetry in code, who cares? We're getting him back."

Reader's POV

The pain from the needle finally subsided, but not without a sensation of liquid running through my veins, turning them a neon purple color. My body spasmed slightly as the door opened, revealing the same woman from earlier.

"Alya?" I said

"Alya's been disconnected you worthless piece of shit!" She slapped me

"I'm Lady Wifi, and you damn well better remember that!"

I spat directly at her, she wiped off her sleeve. She brought her phone up to my neck, getting in my face.

"If it were up to me, I'd kill you right now and display your body on the doorstep of this Cathedral for all of Paris to see! But count whatever blessings you have left that I'm not the boss."

Another villain walked in with red hair, a beret with a black mask, and purple skin with a suit that had a black and white stripped pattern, with light blue, red, and yellow encased in a black circle. He took out a drawing pad, turning to Lady Wifi.

"Should I give him another dose?"

"Yeah, just don't nearly kill 'im this time will ya? His veins are purple now, talk about overkill." She said

"You wanted to make a point, and I helped you." He said putting the needle in the same spot as the first one

"If you call nearly killing the hostage 'help' then congratu-fucking-lations Evillustrator."

Police sirens sounded off in the distance, as doors were opened and shut.

"Come out with your hands over your head! This is your only warning, or we will rush in and apprehend you!"

"You two stay in here, I'll take care of this." A winged villain said flying up a ladder to the roof

Ladybug's POV

We arrived a few rooftops away from the Cathedral as the police began surrounding the entrance, blocking off the street.

"Come out with your hands over your head! This is your only warning, or we will rush in and apprehend you!"

"Damn, they mean business." Chat said

"If we don't do something now, they're gonna-"

"LOOK OUT!" Chat Noir tackled me as one of Dark Cupid's arrows flew towards us

I looked up at him, remembering the effects of the arrow, and to my extreme relief he wasn't shot.

He pulled me up as we soon made it to where Dark Cupid was firing arrows at the cops below, infecting them with anger.

Chat Noir tackled him from above, while I swung my yoyo around him, restraining him, taking the brooch and smashing it. I purified the Akuma and took Kim to safety beyond the police barricade.

"Run straight home and don't look back. Now!"

I saluted Chat Noir, landing back at his side.

"No fist bump Sweet Spots?"

"Ugh, where are you coming up with these?" I said

"You just worry about saving (Reader.)"

"We both are. We'll fist bump when everything's done."

"Two down."

"Two to go." I said

The attic to the Cathedral was, nondescript to say the most. It lacked the stained-glass window, or any other paraphernalia. Just a bunch of locked cabinets and a few tables, which was beyond surprising. The only "new" thing was (Reader) tied to the chair, head facing the floor. A cage was drawn behind him with a lock, and a signal jammer was placed on the lock.

Lady Wifi and Evillustrator stood in our way, ready to fight to the death.

"Good luck with saving your best friends. You and Chat Noir are doing an amazing job. I'm proud of you." Tikki said

Hearing her calming voice was a relieving gift to all the chaos that was happening. A smile formed from my lips as did Chat's.

"You ready?" He asked

"Fight Me!" I said turning to them as we rushed towards them

No One's POV

"New reports of a widespread Akuma attack have been received to our news station. Several people have been as witnesses say "Akumatized," being taken over by their negative emotions, causing destruction and fear to those around. We now go live to a witness that escaped one of the scenes alive.

"It all happened so fast, one minute I was walking with my parents, then everyone started screaming as people began disappearing. Then Ladybug and Chat Noir show up and defeat TimeBreaker. It was insane!" A young woman said

"The witness, Rose Lavillant, a student at Collège Françoise Dupont later added quote, 'I could have been next, then they show up and save the day.' We now take you live to the Notre Dame Cathedral where police have surrounded the building, believed where Ladybug and Chat Noir are fighting other Akumatized victims inside. The police have made no comment as to if these attacks are connected. That's all for the moment, we will keep you updated as the situation unfolds. You're tuned into Pairs Now." A woman news anchor said

Ladybug's POV

"Chat Noir! Use Cataclysm to destroy the signal jammer!"

"Got it!"

Between me fighting Wifi, and Chat dodging Evillustrator's creations, we got our hands full.

"You really think you can save him!? You REALLY think you can win?" Wifi said

"Always!"

Chat Noir kicked Evillustrator's drawing pad and pencil, as I caught it mid air. I quickly erased the cage just as Chat disintegrated the signal jammer.

"Thanks Kitty!" I said handcuffing her hands, and tying her legs up with a bow

"No more evil doings for you little Akuma's."

"TIME TO DE-EVILIZE! Gotcha!" I said walking back outside to the balcony

"Bye bye little butterflies."

I exhaled for the first time in a long while, feeling a sense of being at ease, and tremendous accomplishment.

"MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!" I shouted

"Pound it!" We declared fist bumping

I looked at Chat's ring, as it showed only two paws left.

"Looks like I'll be seeing you soon Bugaboo, try not to have to much fun without me."

"In your dreams." I said

He leaped off as I ran back inside, seeing Alya and Nathaniel wake up. I took them outside the barricade.

"Ladybug! Omg! Can I get an interview!?" She said

"Not now Alya, there's one last thing I gotta do." I said heading back to reader

I kicked the door open, untying the knots. Looking over his body, seeing the blood, cuts, and and injection points in his neck, it was a miracle that he still had a pulse. His eyes slowly opened, blinking heavily.

"Cone on (Reader!) Stay with me, come on, up you go." I said slowly carrying him in my arms rushing down the stairs past the altar, and back out the front door

Reporters were now at the scene, and an ambulance was on standby. I rushed him to the paramedics, as the strapped him on the gurney.

"Get him to the hospital now! He barely has a pulse!"

I saw (Reader) weakly turn to me, giving me a thumbs up as he was being taken away. I saluted him before the doors closed.

The ambulance sped away as reporters began crowding me, Alya pushed her way through the crowd getting to the front.

"Ladybug! How do you know (Reader?) Is he alright?"

"M-Marinette told me. He had a faint pulse, he'll be in better hands by the time he gets to the hospital."

My ear rings didn't beep, but I had to rush out of there.

"Sorry, gotta go. Bug out!" I said swinging my way back home

As soon as I transformed back, Mom and Dad came up, hugging me tightly.

"Marinette! Sweetie, we're so glad you're safe!" Mom said

"We saw the news reports and thought you were one of the victims! Why didn't you call or text us?" Dad said

"M-My phone died. I-I'm just glad I could get away when I had the chance." I said

"It doesn't matter, what matters is that you're home, unharmed." Mom said

"I love you guys."

Incoming Call - Alix

"I gotta take this." I said hugging them before they went downstairs

"Alix?" I said

"I'm at the hospital with Adrien. (Reader) is in ICU. He's hurt bad. Hold on, I'll pass you over to him." She said

"Hello?" Adrien said

"A-Adrien, what happened?" I asked

"He's obviously cut up and bruised, and the doctors can't explain why his veins were a neon purple color. Even weirder, they said a pattern formed around them, then disappeared in seconds. Before he went into shock, all he said was 'call.' My guess is that he wanted to tell you that he's "okay" if you'd call it that."

"I'll have my driver pick you up, I'll tell him to grab Alya too."

"S-See you then."

"Yeah. God, what the hell was going on today?"

"Anyone's guess. See you then." I said hanging up

I laid across my bed as Tikki came into view.

"Marinette, you did a phenomenal job today! You've shown courage, versatility, and a strong will to fight-and win! Not everyone can say they defeated 4 Akuma victims in one day! You're amazing!"

"Thanks, Tikki, you helped me too you know." I said

"What are you going to do now?"

"Go and see (Reader,) of course. No, after an epic battle to save his life, I'm just gonna stay here and contemplate what I am to him, never having the courage to face what we have. Of COURSE I'm going to see him." I said

"Are you sure you're okay Marinette? You might want to take a breather, today took a lot out of you."

I took several deep breaths as a car honked outside.

"That's for me Mom! I'll be back later!" I said heading out the door

"Maybe when (Reader) finally wakes up, I can finally give him his bracelet."

Outside his hospital room, Alya, and Alix were shut out.

"Only family is allowed beyond this door." A nurse said looking at her clipboard

"Can you tell us anything?" Alix asked

"That information is only for the family. Your name Miss?" She said turning to me

"Marinette, I'm a friend of Adrien. I just came by to bring him something."

Adrien opened the door.

"It's fine nurse, let them in." He said

Each of us slowly walked in, my heart came to a stand still seeing the tubes in his arms, his heartbeat making a rhythmic pattern filling the otherwise quiet, serious tone of the room.

The nurse closed the door.

"What did she say? How bad is it?"

"Pretty much what I told you on the phone. They're cautiously optimistic." He said

I opened my purse, taking out his bracelet, placing it next to his hat on the table.

"For when you wake up." I said holding his soft hand

Through the night, I was the only one left with Adrien.

"It could've been me, could've been us." He said

"But it wasn't." I said

"Then why him? Why would they attack *him* of all people?"

"Sometimes, there's no explanation." I said

"BULLSHIT! MY COUSIN IS LAYING THERE, FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE, AND YOU SAY THERE'S NO FUCKING EXPLANATION FOR THIS!? MY BLOOD MIGHT DIE TONIGHT AND THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY!?"

"A-Adrien, I-I didn't mean-"

"N-No, I'm sorry Marinette. You're right, I shouldnt've snapped at you like that. The only person that might know is him, and getting angry won't solve anything." He said looking at him tearing up

"Don't be sorry, you have every right to feel the way you do. Just don't let it overtake you. You two look up to each other, thick as thieves. It'll be a long recovery, he might not ever be the same, but all of us can do is make the best of what's to come."

"You're a real angel Marinette." He said

That's when he put his hand on my shoulder, and I looked up at him.

He leaned in, and he kissed me softly.

Adrien kissed me!

When we separated, the same nurse came in with a bouquet of flowers.

"Prayers and Love From The Cesaire Family" The card read

"Come on, I'll take you home."

"The staff are gonna have to throw me out of this room." I said

"I've slept in a few hospital chairs, not the greatest. At all."

I looked over to him, laying still in the bed. Leaning over, I adjusted his hair, and pecked his forehead.

"Okay, I'm ready."

The ride home was quiet, the sky now dark with minimal stars, with only the soft wind to keep me company on my balcony.

"You'll catch a cold, ya know that?" Alya said

She insisted she spent the night with me.

"Just.....thinking about everything." I said walking back in

"Girl, I know you've got a lot on your mind. With all the attacks, and your friend in the hospital. I can't speak directly for him, but I got a feeling he wouldn't want you being on edge so much. Just keep him in your prayers, ok girl?"

"Already sending them every minute." I said sitting on my bed

"Even an angel like you needs her rest. Goodnight Marinette."

"Goodnight Alya."

I never let my phone leave my side, in case it rings.

My heart is in suspense for him, and when he awakes.

I'll tell him everything.

"Goodnight, (Reader). Que Dieu vous garde dans ses bras et rétablisse votre santé. Au nom de Jésus, je prie. Amen."
