The next day

Narrator's POV

In the deep vast darkness of space lies million of planets. However there is one place where they are all ruled over. The Galra High Command. A place filled with Galra fighters, druids, and drones, all waiting for command of their emperor Zarkon.

Deep inside the station, lies five druids and the emperor himself. The druids perform a ceremony transferring the quintessence that has been obtained to Zarkon. The room fills with an eerie purple light and power surges through the room. The quintessence has been transferred and Zarkon's body is filled with a new and stronger power.

Among the druids was a strong witch, known to be Zarkon's advisor and planner, the High-Priestess Haggar. "Sire, the beast is almost to Arus." She says. "This quintessence gives me so much power, I could just go and take the Voltron lions myself." Zarkon said boasting himself after gaining his power. "I know sire, and there is no need. My creation will defeat the Paladins and capture the lions for you. Then the most powerful weapon in the universe will be ours." She says confidently.

What Hagar says is true. The beast that she has been working on is only a few Vagas away. This beast was known as The Gladiator and is that is filled with raw strength and was the top fighter in the arena, that is until someone took his place which is known as The Champion. The Gladiator developed an absolute hatred toward The Champion and will do anything to take revenge, and even if it meant serving Hagar and Zarkon, he would gladly take the chance.

Back on Arus

Keith's POV

"Good job everybody. We're really getting the hang of Voltron." Shiro said as we walked to the dinning room. "Man did you see how far I kicked that broken Galra ship? It must've been like a mile." Lance said being all proud of himself. "Yeah. That would be great when the Galra challenge Voltron to a soccer match." I said and Lance turned to me. "Look I get it. I did something cool and you can't handle it." "We got off balance. We fell." "Well that falling part was Hunk's fault!" "Hey!" Hunk said after being called out for something he obviously didn't do. "Alright knock it off. Save the fighting for when we fight Zarkon." Shiro said stoping the fight.

"Hey guys!" I heard a voice coming from a hallway. I look to where the voice was coming from and I saw (Y/n) carrying some packs of water. "Hey (Y/n)." I said and the others look at me weird. "Since when do you act less... uh... emoy?" Lance asked but I just ignore him. "Oh I guess I haven't told you. Me and Keith have know each other for a few years now." He said to Lance and his eyes widened. "Wait you were friends with Keith?" Lance asked. "Yeah and I'm still friends with him. He was there for me and I'm here for him." He said as he passes out the packs of water to us. "He holds a special place in my heart and that's something I treasure deeply." He said. Then I see Coran behind him with something in his hands.

"Hello paladins how was your training?" He asked. "We're getting there. By the way are you almost done fixing the castle so we can leave Arus? I feel like we're sitting ducks out here." Shiro said. "Well you can worry about those sitting ducks later because we're almost done. And in the meantime why don't you enjoy a good old fashioned paladin lunch!" Coran said revealing a bowl of god knows what. It looks like a combination of alien guts and vomit combined. The rest of us were disgusted by the look of it and it smells terrible. "This lunch is packed with nutrients that will help any paladin gain strength." Coran said. "That provides strength? I feel weak just looking at it." (Y/n) said. "I just got hooked on the goo and now we're changing it up. I'm gonna head to the kitchen and make something more appetizing." Hunk said leaving the dining room.

"Hey do you know where Pidge is?" Shiro asked. "Oh I think he went to go check on the prisoners." Coran said. "I'm gonna go check." Shiro got up and went to head out before Coran held up a spoon of that disaster lunch and tried to feed Shiro. "Here comes the food lion!" "No. Just no." Shiro said leaving the dinning room. "Oh that reminds me I have something I need to do. I'll see you guys later." (Y/n) said as he left the dining room.

(Y/n)'s POV

As I left the dining room the coordinates that were left in my mind grew much clearer. I need to put these coordinates in and find out where they lead. Maybe this can help us fight Zarkon.

"My Shining Star."

I heard that same phrase again, but why? Who is calling me a 'shining star'? I shook my head, I can't focus on that now I have coordinates to put in. I reach the bridge and head to the console which turns on as I get near it. I input the coordinates and once I entered them the same planet I saw in my dream was brought onto the screen.

"Planet Rula..."

The coordinates I put in showed me planet Rula. And according to the star map it says it's only a couple days away. I don't know much about this planet so I pull up its information. "Hey (Y/n)." I heard a voice behind me and I turn around only to see Coran. "Oh hello Coran. Is there something I can help you with?" I ask. "No I just going to tell you, me the Paladins and the princess are heading to a village to talk to the Arusians. I'm just letting you know." Coran said. "Oh thank you Coran. I'll catch up later." I said and Coran left.

"Now back to work." I said as I try to pull up the planet's information again. The information shows and I read out loud. "Planet Rula, the home of the Rulians. This planet is abundant in all things related to nature and has one of the most unique cultures in all of the Simalza system. This planet is rich in runes that allow the Rulians to use them as their own and the planet is guarded by the six elemental guardians."

Okay so that's a start, but I need to know more. I look through the info and I found something more about the Rulians. "Rulians are similar to the human species in appearance, but they as well can contain various traits from other species which can relate from their power or their physical appearance. Rulians are able to absorb runes and use the power from it as their own however they see fit. When a Rulian desires they can transfer the runes of their choice to another. There are a variety of runes however the six elemental runes are known to be the most rare. The runes of fire, water, wind, earth, light and darkness are only located in the Cave of Elements and are given to a chosen few."

So are my birthmarks are the six elemental runes? I need to know more. "However there is even a more rare rune that is only given to those of Ulia's line. The rune of life is passed down from generation to generation mainly to females as females are common in Ulia's bloodline. The bloodline are as well the leaders of the Rulians. The current Chieftain of the Rulians is Grelia, who is one of the eldest in her family at the moment. She has six daughters: Alina, Zelma, Uuru, Terra, Nilu, and Markia. Each of the daughters were bestowed three of the elemental runes and each have a choice of who they wish to marry. The daughters, once they were of age, went through different systems to find the one they love and once married they would return to Rula. All of the daughters except one returned."

"All but one? What could that mean? Who is the daughter that didn't return?" So many questions we're going through my head and I couldn't find any answers. I kept looking through the information but I couldn't find anything.

BOOM

I heard a loud boom and the screen pulled up showing me a ship that's going through the atmosphere. "Oh no!
That's a Galra ship! And it's bigger than the fighters!" I tried to pinpoint its location and it's going to land near the Arusian village. "I have to get there fast!"

Shiro's POV

The ship had just crashed into the broken down ship me and Pidge were in and the lions came in and protected us from the blast. We both went into our lions and the ship opened revealing a huge robotic monster. The rest of the Paladins came with the lions firing on it. "Everyone we have to form Voltron!" I yell and the lions surge with power. "FORM VOLTRON!"

The lions get into position the black lion forms the head, the red and green lions form the right and left arms respectively, and the blue and yellow lions form the right and left legsrespectively. Voltron had been formed and now we can charge into battle.

The beast throws a orb but we slide out of the way avoiding it, but then we get hit by the beast. Next we change tactics, the beast throws the orb again and we dodge it and go straight for the beast. We throw a punch and hold it in place but then I hear a loud whir and the orb comes back and hits us. Suddenly I can feel memories flood my mind. I've fought this beast once before... in the arena.

"Everyone I know how we can defeat this thing!" I yell. "The machine on the beast's right arm makes a loud whir when the orb is coming back and every three throws it needs to charge! So attack on the third shot!" I yell and the beast throws the orb one.... two... three! "ALRIGHT NOW!" I yell and we fire two lasers at the beast, making a direct hit! "Did that do it?" Lance asked, but the beast got back up. It throws the orb and with no time to react we got hit.

Keith's POV
"How are we supposed to beat this thing?!" Lance asked. "Last time I fought this thing I had a sword! Look out!" Shiro yelled and the orb hits us again. I then hear a voice. My lion is talking to me. "Guys I think my lion is telling me something." A port opens and it looks like my bayard will fit. "Well whatever it is do it quick! It's about to fire it's third shot!" And just as Lance said that it launches the orb and we brace for impact.

"HAAAAAH!"

(Y/n) all of a sudden flew it front of us with his wings and hit the orb with a lance made of light and reflects the orb back, hitting the beast. "Are you guys okay?" He asks. "Yeah we're fine. You came just in time." Shiro said. "Alright. I'll distract it while you guys get back on your feet." And he goes to fight the beast.

Slowly we get back up and I can see (Y/n) flying around the beast making sure it won't hit him. It launches the orb once and misses. It launches it again and it's reflected. "Alright guys it's up to you!" (Y/n) yells and moves out of the way. The beast then turns to us and prepares to throw the orb, and I put my bayard in the port and I turn it. Then a sword forms onto Voltron's hands. The beast launches the orb and we dodge it. We get closer and we are in close range. I push forward and slice the beast making it explode. "Phew it's over." I said. "Great jobs guys! I knew you could beat it!" (Y/n) says. "And thank you for the help. We couldn't have done it without you (Y/n)." Shiro says and I can see a smile on (Y/n)'s face

Narrator's POV

"NOOOO!" Haggar yells as she sees her beast get defeated. "I'll make a new and better beast. Much stronger than the last." "No there is no need. Commander Sendak is still alive and I have given him direct orders on what to do." Zarkon said. "Do you think he can be trusted?" "I know Sendak. He fights for the name of Galra, and only victory or death will stop him."
