"W-what?" Jungkook stood there without making a single move and I chuckled as I took a step back.
"I'm kidding." I laughed to cover up the heat rising up my cheeks. What was I thinking, pulling a move like that? "So when are we leaving?" I asked putting myself back together.
"Tomorrow evening. A few hours after school ends. You should start packing." Jungkook spoke to me and I was glad that things were starting to feel normal again. Jimin was only my friend now, so I could still talk to him and hang out with him normally. Break was about to start and I was going to be at a resort for a wedding. Not how I spend the usual vacation but I had no problem doing so.
"I'm going to tell Vivian, and can you check on the oven? I was baking cookies earlier." He nodded and walked over to the kitchen and I took time to analyze his back. He's so tall? I shook off the thought before waking into the hallway and going to knock on Vivian's door.
That's weird, she kept it open.
I looked through the small opening of the door and found Taehyung and Vivian- kissing? She seems busy. I held in my laugh as I quietly closed the door and walked back. I figured I would text her later.
-
"Hm you guys look weirdly closer today." I told the pair who I assumed were dating now. It was Friday and we were at school, in about an hour school was to end and a few hours after that I would be on a plane to Jeju Island.
"You told her?" Taehyung asked Vivian who just playfully rolled her eyes.
"No, Taehyung. It's not like we're best friends or anything." Vivian spoke sarcastically and I stood there smiling. They bickered like a married couple.
"Aw, this is cute. Oh and Taehyung? You break her heart I break something of yours as well." I playfully threaten the boy who laughs but seems slightly alarmed.
"He wouldn't do that to someone older than him." I heard a voice behind me say and I turned around to find Jimin leaning on the locker beside mine. We met eyes and he only smiled and waved at me. I smiled back and felt my heart beat returning to a normal pace. Surprisingly, this didn't feel so awkward.
"I knew it! That's why you didn't want to tell me your birthday." Vivian exclaimed while nudging Taehyung's arm.
"Listen, everyone, is older than me except for Jungkook. And he isn't so respectful." Taehyung explained and Vivian nodded. "I have to go early or else I won't get the window seat. Bye." He kisses Vivian on the cheek before rushing to class. Jimin and I both raise our brows up as Vivian tries to conceal her rosy cheeks.
"I'll see you at class. Remember to text me when you're out of school, I want to spend any time with you before you're on your flight." Vivian says slowly following after Taehyung leaving Jimin and I alone. He cleared his throat before sending me a charming smile.
"So Jungkook asked you to come with him?" Jimin asked and I nodded slowly closing my locker as well.
"Yeah, I'm playing his fake girlfriend." I informed him and I thought I could hear Jimin curse under his breath.
"That's interesting, well-"
In the swiftest moment I could feel an arm around my shoulder and a quick kiss on the head. My eyes were open wide as I found Jungkook beside me smiling at Jimin. I quickly took him off my shoulder and started to interrogate him.
"What was that for?!" I asked sounding angry when it really was just shock. Jimin, however, looked amused by the situation.
"You become my pretend girlfriend in just a few hours, so I'm practicing." Jungkook reasoned and I examined how he looked today. So much more alive and happy, so he finally got his act together. But how could I forgot that he can be annoying as well, what he just pulled qualifies.
"Well we're at school right now, so practice on someone else." I told him and Jungkook eyed Jimin for fun.
"I'm not kissing you." And we both left Jungkook standing in the middle of the hallway and went to class.
-
"You're going to Jeju Island!?" My sister exclaimed from the phone. I had originally dialed for my parents and Sohye decided to take the phone once she heard where I was going. "If I knew that moving out gave you free trips and a hot roommate, I would've came with you!"
"Very funny- wait, how do you know who my roommate is?" Jungkook who was also in the room now had an arrogant grin while he scrolled through his phone. It was now that I regretted putting the call on speaker.
"Vivian had photos of him from her boyfriend. Do you like him or anything? Or is his personality horrible because that would be a shame. Is he a good kisser-"
"How would I know?!" I slightly raised my voice when I answered her.
"Sohye, I think that's enough. Let your sister pack." I smiled when I heard my mother's voice through the phone. "Have a great time and call us when you land. But I have to ask, do you have any feelings for your roommate? He is quite handsome-"
"I love you Mom, bye." I quickly hung up the phone and sighed. Jungkook turned off his phone and smiled at me arrogantly.
"It looks like the whole Lee household is falling for me." He spoke quietly but was very much boasting with pride. I rolled my eyes before closing my luggage.
"Don't try to include me in that, I haven't fallen for you." I felt uneasy while I said that but it isn't always that I stand up to Jungkook's cocky remarks.
I heard his footsteps coming near me as he helped me roll my luggage to near the door.
"You're going to have to pretend you have, if you want to be convincing in front of my parents. And my brother and his bride." I just remembered! I'm going to a wedding. Even better, I'm doing to be quite close with the couple. I'm the oldest sibling, so I've never had an older sister or brother that got married. So weddings have always been really boring for me.
"Shouldn't I have gotten them a gift? Your brother and his girlfriend." I asked and Jungkook shook his head.
"No, I already got them something. And since you're my 'girlfriend'," I tried not to look startled when he took my hand in his, "It's from the both of us." We stood there, our hands intertwined and looking into each other's eyes. Maybe it wasn't going to be too bad pretending to be his girlfriend. Although I would never tell him, I was with my mom and sister when it came to how handsome Jungkook was.
"Guys, Taehyung agreed to driving you to the airport." I heard Vivian's voice from outside the door as she pushed it open. I quickly departed my hand from Jungkooks and pretended to fix my hair.
"That's great." I smiled as I spoke and Vivian quickly came up to me and hugged me.
"I have to hug you as much as I can before you leave." Vivian said and I happily hugged her back. I heard the door close and saw that our luggage was no longer near the door. Jungkook was probably starting to take them outside, although I'd wish he'd let me help. Either way, I took this time to actually talk to Vivian since we were alone.
"I don't know how I'm going to do. Pretending like I'm in love with Jungkook."
"You'll do fine. Hey. Can I ask you something?" Vivian started and the room fell more quiet than it already was. "You're starting to like him, aren't you?" I thought about her question before responding quietly.
"I don't know. But it's crazy right? If I did. I mean, look at me, someone who can barely stay together and so bland and not crazy pretty. I don't fall into his type. Even if I am falling for him, I can't. It would never work."
"Wow, I- I don't know what to say. But I can say that that I want you to have a great time. I don't care which boy likes you, as long as you know that I'll be by your side the whole time," Vivian started to laugh, "I sound so sappy." And then we both started to laugh together.
"We both do."
-
I hugged Vivian one last time before going up to Taehyung and ruffling his hair.
"You be good." I told him and he nodded. It was like he was my younger brother and I needed to make sure he didn't fall into mischief while I was gone.
"Tell Jimin, I said bye." I made sure to tell them even though Jimin and I were texting the whole car ride through. He was going to his hometown to visit his parents and left earlier today.
I felt an arm around my waist and a voice whisper in my ear. "Are you ready to go?" I turned my head and smiled at how Jungkook looked. He wasn't teasing or anything he really was looking at me like he loved me. I was going to have to get used to this so I stopped myself from swatting his hand away. We took each other's hand and started to walk near the entrance to our plane.
I sat comfortably in my seat and laid my jacket under me as I pulled out my phone to text Vivian and possibly Sohye.
"Stay off your phone for the flight, the charger might not work and it's not everyday that you're on a plane." Jungkook lectured as he sat next to me and almost sounded like my father. He no longer sounded delicate like he did a few seconds earlier but I thought that was typical for him. I put my phone in my pocket before laying on my side to face Jungkook.
"Happy?"
"Very. Now, remember you're a good person that gets good grades and loves everything about me." Jungkook instructed and I nodded obediently before actually understanding what I was asked to do.
"If we're in a relationship, that doesn't mean we need to love everything about each other. Aren't people supposed to be honest when they date?" I asked and Jungkook turned his head and caught my gaze. His eyes looked almost crystal like and his expression was filled with care.
"But what if I love everything about you?" He told me and I could feel myself about to stutter as I stammered out a question.
"You- you do?" I asked and felt my shoulders drop when Jungkook slumped back into his chair and started to look through the menu showing no attention.
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't, but it's all in the way I act." I nodded and started to drink from my water bottle. "But I do-" Jungkook had his eyes closed as he spoke "I do think that you'll do fine. Don't worry." He sighed before rolling on his other side and leaning his head on the seat.
"Aren't you going to wait for dinner?" I asked the young man who now looked like a small boy, curled up in a blanket and quiet for once.
"I'll be awake in a few hours and eat on my own. Just leave it on my table." I nodded once more before waiting until the coast was clear to take my phone out again. I plugged in my headphones and decided it would probably be an okay time to watch a movie.
I was falling, but from what? All I knew that I was going to fall head first and wasn't screaming or worried at all. My head slowly started to move downwards until it landed on a huge boulder. But it didn't hurt as much as I thought it was going to, and that was when my eyes jolted open from the dream. I turned my head and found that the boulder I landed on was Jungkook's shoulder and he was starting to wake up. He made a small moaning noise before yawning his eyes open. He turned to look at me and batted his eyelashes.
"Good morning honey." His voice was groggy but still sounded like plain old Jungkook. Wait what did he call me?
"Where did that come from?" I ask instead of greeting him morning back.
He shrugged his shoulders before getting out his phone to fix his hair and then put his hood on. What was the point of fixing your hair if you were going to-
"Hey, wanna make out?" Jungkook asked bluntly and my eyes opened wide before lightly hitting him on the shoulder.
"Don't ask questions like that! It's me who needs to practice acting like your girlfriend not you." I told him while still trying to keep quiet. The whole plane had their lights off and was sleeping, it was just the small light between my seat and Jungkook's that was on. That was when I went to check my phone and saw that it was only three in the morning. Great. I probably wasn't going to fall asleep anymore and neither was Jungkook. Five more hours that I would need to spend with him bothering me and I was already dreading it.
"No trust me, I need it. It's not too easy to see you as my girlfriend either, you really are just a friend." Jungkook spoke while playing around with the mini screen in front of him.
"Well then I guess we both need to practice. We have five hours left, might as well do something." That was when an idea popped into my head that would hopefully stop Jungkook from annoying me. "Can you tell me about your family?" His eyes softened before nodding and smiling.
"My mother, she might come on a bit too strong. She's a romantic and believes she knows true love when she sees it. Never really believed in my past relationships, but since you're smart and nice, she'll probably love you. And she has this thing where rather than conversations, she will just smile at you for the longest time. "
"Cute." I said and admired how Jungkook spoke about his family. He went on to tell me that his father was quiet and couldn't always hold up a conversation. That his older brother was almost exactly like him, except Jungkook was more attractive. I hope that works with arrogance too.
"That's about it, now we have to practice acting like a couple." Jungkook said and I swear I could see an evil glint in his eyes. I finally decided to give in to his instruction, though I'm pretty sure that when the time came we would act our best.
"Sua, you cant even look at me for too long."
"I could if I wanted to."
"Then kiss me."
"How does looking at someone correlate with kissing someone? You're just not used to not kissing a girl for a whole week." The whole week that Jungkook was slumping around about his breakup with Jiyoon, he got no action whatsoever.
"Well can you blame me? When someone gets used to something, it's hard to just ignore the urge to do it."
"That doesn't mean I'm going to kiss you."
"Well how are you going to be used it when the time comes-"
"Excuse me, a few people have been complaining that you two are a too loud." A flight attended stood beside us as she whispered. She was really pretty and because she was crouching her chest was in full view.
Jungkook smiled at her and I could tell he wanted to charm her. "I'm sorry, but if I get to see you, then I won't be getting any less loud." She tried not blush as she tried to stay professional.
"Then I'm going to have you pulled out from here and seated somewhere else."
"Oh? Then you should probably be seated with me so you can make sure I don't disturb anyone." Does he have to do this everywhere? Find a girl and-
I don't think I was thinking correctly when I grabbed Jungkook and pushed my lips against his. It didn't take a while for him to kiss me back. I could hear the footsteps of the flight attendant leaving and Jungkook placed his hand on my cheek as he deepened the kiss. I quickly pulled away since I wasn't really sure on how to continue from that and was scared Jungkook got the wrong idea.
"Wow, that was-"
"A distraction. You can't be flirting with other girls while I'm your 'girlfriend', that might be a bit suspicious. So there's your kiss, and now I'm suddenly tired. Goodnight." I told him before turning my head away from Jungkook and closed my eyes.
"Are you sure you weren't jealous?" Jungkook bravely asked and I thought thoroughly about my answer.
"I wasn't, but maybe your fake girlfriend was. Now go to bed too, you don't want to be tired when we land." I told him expecting that to be my final sentence before I was brought into a dream again.
-
"No Jungkook, that's not ours! Just be it's red doesn't automatically make it your luggage."
"Okay, how about that one?"
"No it doesn't- oh wait it is." Jungkook took the luggage in his arms and then rolled it back to me. This was the last one and now we were off to find his family. It was now that I was getting nervous, extremely nervous. This was the first impression, screwing this up would ruin the whole vacation for Jungkook. Almost like it was planned, Jungkook took my hand in his. He was probably trying to make us seem close in front of his parents but at the moment it kind of calmed me down. When we opened the door to the meeting area, Jungkook had let go of my hand when another man jumped to hug him. There were four other either playing with his hair, tickling him or just greeting him. I though he had one brother...? Then came his parents, his father who pat Jungkook's back and his mother who gave him a kiss.
The whole time I stood in the background and watched, completely secluded from the reunion. They went on like this for a few more minutes before I felt a small tap on my shoulder.
"Hello there. Who are you?" Jungkook's mother asked and I smiled at her because the smile she had on was so contagious. Before even responding, I noticed that Jungkook and the rest of his family all had their eyes on me and he nodded his head encouraging me to answer.
"I'm- I'm Jungkook's girlfriend."
